vii. blades behind your back / 82 a.d.d
Venus rips his rapier out of Denise's lower back with a terrifying grin, congealed clumps of blood splattering onto the shiny wooden floor.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" His former ally asks, as she struggles to life her 4 foot 10 frame off the ground. "I wasn't doing anything to bother you."
"You were bothering me, though." She really doesn't get it, huh? He wipes the gore off on the side of his leg — why the Gamemakers thought it'd be a good idea to have everyone wear shorts is beyond him.
Denise manages to lift up one of her knives, and chucks it in Venus' direction. It lands near his shoulder, tearing through his floral button-up shirt, but he doesn't feel a lick of pain.
He charges toward her, this time aiming for her chest. Briefly, he wonders if this is overkill considering blood continues to seep through her shorts and she's going to die anyway.
Venus decides that it isn't though, as he slices against Denise's chest, pushing her back to the ground.
(Overkill was what his older brother, Robin, did when he bashed a young boy's head into a wall with a banjo.)
(Overkill was when he became that arena's grim reaper and didn't spare a single soul.)
"Tell me then," Denise croaks. "What did I do?"
He drags the blade up towards her throat. "You existed. I plan to win, dear, so therefore you have to die."
(Shit, he really sounds a lot like Robin right now, but maybe that isn't a bad things.)
(Venus still remembers the day they came home from the Capitol, people parading in the streets about how he was the reason their district could once again thrive. They didn't care that he could be considered a monster — to them, he was their hero.)
(Even if Venus has never been as boisterous as them, he still deserves a chance in the spotlight.)
"You're sick in the head, Verrillo."
Venus doesn't let Denise say another word, exposing her trachea and dragging it out of her neck.
As her eyes roll over and a canon sounds, he finds that he can't wait for his next kill.
at some point in 2021 i was dared to give dyl, sevilin verrillo's creator, another kid of sev. it never happened, but technically it means robin has a brother now so here we are.
