10/8/2656- Ilana Representative Joins Vernali Republic In Press Conference, Extent Of The Ilasa Republic Revealed
"Today, Representative Yisala Vol of the Ilana Republic joined representatives from the Vernali Republic in the press conference. The conference took place on the world Trilius, a minor turian dominated colony nearby. During the conference Vol shocked everyone by unveiling the true size of the Ilana Republic, something previously concealed during earlier talks. The Matriarch claimed that the Republic is made up of over 3 billion citizens spread over half a dozen systems, over four times larger than even the most generous projections for the nation. When asked how this was possible, Yisala Vol explained that the Republic continued receiving refugees for the entirety of the 20 year long Tralani Civil War, and for an additional 50 years afterwards, a time of great turmoil and economic hardship during the region's history. She went on to explain that the Ilasa Republic got into contact with the Galactic Prosperity Foundation, offering some of their ships and a convenient location to drop off the endless hordes of refugees attempting to flee the region a safe place in exchange for sending them their way. After the civil war and the GPF's redeployment to different areas, a less extensive operation evacuated additional refugees, mostly individuals once working in opposition to the winning power in the Civil War, including several individuals with bounties on their heads. Reactions are mixed across the region, ranging from shock to outrage, to joy, to, respect. There has been no official Vernali Republic response since the abrupt end of the press conference."
