Eikner sighed as he reminisced about his time at Hollywood Arts. Those had been good times, even if he constantly had to worry about someone, somehow getting their face stuck in one of the vending machines. 'Good times.' He repeated to himself. Of course, retiring to pursue a relationship with an exotic Polynesian woman had seemed a bit rash, at the time, but that was the kind of romantic gesture they loved in Hollywood 'They loved themselves a good story.' He chuckled to himself.

Polynesian had wound up meaning living in Hawaii, working part time taking snorkelers and divers out to certain spots to see the wildlife. He really enjoyed the rentals business, mostly because it was so relaxed compared to working at Hollywood arts. Of course, his wife, a now retired hula dancer, was another reason he so enjoyed his post Hollywood arts years. 'She sure does know how to help keep a man relaxed.' He mused as he watched her teaching traditional dance to a group of local kids. Her work, to keep her hand in, and to help them maintain some semblance of their original culture, awash in commercialism and the modern world. He smiled a moment, and let his mind wander as he contemplated his next move.

Not that he had another move. No, this was it. Him and his wife, they were young enough, could have continued, maybe started teaching here in Hawaii, except why bother. He'd saved his entire life to retire in comfort, and discovered his love of entertainment waning as the years went past and he had to deal with the scores of less than stellar talents he needed to include just to keep the doors open. Of course, there was the audition process, and in theory, only Trina Vega ever got in without being talented, though based on her ability to be in plays, have solo performances, and even produce an on campus play financed by the school, that girl had some talent. 'Not just in convincing people, she could dance, and sing, sometimes, and if I'm totally honest, she could be hilarious, unintentionally, but hay, a hit is a hit. Girls has a future. Honestly, save for her luck, Trina has more of a future then her sister. Girls is gonna rely on talent alone, and how many talented people have died penniless because the world wasn't able to appreciate what they had to offer. No, entertainment is a business…. I should know, because it made me rich. Rich enough to buy some of that land that's being stolen from the locals, set up my home, and set up this side business, both of our side businesses, to help kill the time before someone asks how I can own this much land on the money I make taking tourists out to see some of our local sighs.'

The fact was, years ago, Eikner started selling spots in Hollywood Arts. 'They were getting in anyways. Nothing I could do to stop that, so why not profit from the corruption.' He retired to marry his love, and to get away from an ethics investigation that was necessitated by his students good deed. 'Faking a ping pong tournament. Got me three more years of work, three more years of payoffs, but in the end, I needed another escape once I wasn't going to be fired for not having any winning sports teams... at a performing arts school. Thank god I fell for a Polynesian woman...'

Just a quick something I wrote a while ago to remind the world I'm still alive.
