Hey everyone, MagmaKyuubi here.
I'm changing the title again, sorry. I'm just not finding one that fits, but I promise you, this is the last time I change it.
Author's Notes will be at the end, so read them if you'd like. Also, please comment. I'll be answering some replies here.
Highostrich: I won't be focusing on a single fic, in fact once I reach five chapters in both ones I'm working on, I'll start on another fic. The thing is I just need to write every day, even if just a little bit. Also, I think Naruto: Monster Gamer is better written because I'm more familiar with Naruto than MHA. Still, I will be updating both, so don't worry.
B0OKW0RM: Don't worry, no Alien X in this fic. That is the name of the fic, but the reason why I chose it will be explained later when Izuku chooses his hero name. But no Celestialsapiens. You did give me the fun idea of a one-shot, where Ben gets the Omnitrix and the ten aliens he gets are the strongest he's ever unlocked, with some from other shows (Alien X, Way Big, Clockwork, Atomix, Gravattack, Feedback, and a Saiyan, Boros's species, a Nitro (from Toriko) and a Burning Martian)
Yaethe: I get it, it's pretty weird writing the fic with the aliens having different names, but the votes are 2 new names and 1 original. For now, I'll keep with new names for the aliens, but if I get enough people commenting for original names, I'll change them.
Jerryagresor: Yeah, don't get me started on those. I mean... I'm not going to start because I won't stop ranting about it. I might give it to someone from 1-A, but its someone I have never seen get it before, so I hope you'll enjoy that.
Advent of Sloth: You'll see what I did with Bakugo in this chapter. But the polls are in, and the numbers are Lodestar: 2, Upgrade: 2 and Cannonbolt with a massive 0. I'm going to end up going with Lodestar, because I can see him being used in more scenarios than Upgrade. Still, I will include an Omake where I have Izuku use Upgrade in the entrance exam, so hope that makes up for it.
I don't own My Hero Academia or Ben 10. The alien descriptions are mainly from the Ben 10 Wiki.

Chapter 3: Entrance Exam
'The Yuei high school hero course! It's designed to give students everything they need to go pro! It's without a doubt the toughest and most popular hero course in the country, if not the continent, and only 1 in 300 applicants get in. There's All Might, the top hero not just in Japan, Endeavour, the man who's stopped more crimes than anyone else, and Best Jeanist, the guy who's won the best jeanist award eight years running. And I'm going to get in.' Izuku thought to himself as he made his way towards Yuei, trying to be upbeat, but it was a difficult task.
Standing in front of the gates of Yuei, Izuku was beginning to panic, his anxiety making a comeback despite working very hard to deal with it. He reassured himself that he has worked a lot to get ready for the exam and he can handle it. Taking a deep breath, Izuku began making his way inside the school, while reminiscing about what had happened in the last few months.
His training with Garou at the Wolf's Den dojo was really helpful, giving Izuku a great deal of experience with fighting. He may not be a black belt or even a match to most of the students there, but Garou reassured him that Yuei wasn't expecting expert combatants for their entrance exam. Having spent the first several months focusing on training with his normal form, to make sure that he can protect himself without his aliens and because most of his transformations were humanoid. The skills did carry over, even though they had to modify the way he fights in each form a bit.
He also got into much better shape, mainly focusing on improving his stamina. He realized that being transformed didn't make grant him an infinite well of stamina. The longer he was transformed, or to be more accurate the more he used the powers of his aliens, the more exhausted he would feel after transforming back to normal. This became especially important once his time limit began increasing and he could train in his forms for longer periods of time.
The physical training not just helped build up his body, but a side effect was boosting his self-esteem. That was one of the issues caused by years of bullying, but visiting that therapist really helped him. The therapist had an interesting quirk that Izuku gushed over, it basically allowed the therapist to bring them into the patient's mind and combat the problems plaguing the patient. It wasn't as easy as described, taking time and effort, as well as trust, but it the therapist's quirk helped them speed things up greatly.
Another thing that really helped Izuku rebuild his self-esteem was how things changed at school. Bakugo left him alone, and for the first few months so did everybody else. After that a couple of jerks tried to pick on him, but by then Izuku had gotten stronger, physically and mentally. He didn't even bother paying attention to them, completely ignoring them. A couple months before the exam, the school was shut down and afterwards all the teachers and staff were different. The rules were also now enforced, but Izuku wasn't really sure why that happened. He did have an inkling that the call they made to the police might have something to do with it, but his mother didn't mention anything.
What Izuku didn't know was that the captain of the precinct was incredibly interested in the case brought to them. They were worried that the school might be a recruitment centre for the remnants of the meta-liberation army, but fortunately that was far from the truth. A mixture of years of bribery, neglect, corruption and brownnosing promising students led to the situation at hand, but it was eventually fixed after a few weeks of arresting the old teachers and staff. Izuku didn't know any of this, and was just happy that the bullying, not just of him, has stopped and hopefully never become like how it used to be.
'I'm dead...' Izuku thought as he tripped over an upturned brick while reminiscing, flailing as he was going to face plant into the ground, 'All that training, getting the Omnitrix, all gone to waste from tripping over nothing. Forgive me everyone!'
While Izuku's overdramatic thoughts were thankfully not uttered aloud, it did take him a few moments to realize that he hasn't hit the ground. Opening his eyes he saw that he was floating and saw someone nearby that was looking at him in concern.
"You all right?" She asked him, having shoulder length auburn hair with eyes to match. She seemed to have a perpetual blush on her cheeks, and she helped him get to his feet from where he was floating, "Sorry for going crazy with my quirk there. I just think it'd have been a bad omen if you tripped, you know?"
"Umm... Thank you!" Izuku managed to stutter out, rather embarrassed by what happened and by having a girl speak to him. He'd gotten better at dealing with his shyness and nervousness, but the situation really flustered him. "It would have been bad if I needed to visit the nurse before the exams even began."
"I'm so nervous, bet you are too!" The girl said after she giggled a bit, "Well, good luck! Later!"
After getting over his slight embarrassment, Izuku went ahead and registered his name at the entrance desk for the applicants. First up was the written exam, and he wasn't too worried about it. He had studied even harder in the last few months, so he was ready for whatever Yuei would throw at him.
He was wrong. The written exam was really difficult, or at least certain parts of it were. He was being a little overdramatic, but he thought he did rather well. There were a few questions that were very difficult, whether because they were complicated math or physics questions or subjective philosophical ones. Izuku shook his head and refocused on what's happening at the moment, as he found his seat in the auditorium. He wasn't too surprised to see Katsuki sitting near him, since they came from the same schools and their applications were probably sent with each other. Ever since the sludge villain incident, they haven't interacted with one another and now wasn't the time. Maybe in the future they could talk and resolve their issues, but it wasn't any time soon.
Izuku got really excited once he saw who the presenter at the podium was. With his distinctive spiked blonde hair and 'HAGE' headband. With the directional speaker around his neck and orange shades, their presenter was the Voice Hero: Present Mic. Izuku was a huge fan, listening to his radio every week. Izuku was really excited since the teachers at Yuei really are pro heroes. He was really happy that he got over his muttering problem, for the most part at least, but he was still shaking in his seat in excitement.
"Welcome one and all to today's live performance!" Present Mic exclaimed enthusiastically with his famous loud voice, "Everybody say HEY!"
"Well, that's cool. I've got shivers down my spine too, my examinee listeners!" Present Mic exclaimed after a few moments of nobody replying. He didn't let it bother him, despite this not being the first time nobody's shouted in response. "Alright, examinees... I'm here to present the guidelines of your practical exam! Are you ready!?"
"YEAH!" He shouted, hoping once again that somebody, anybody really, would join in. Nobody did, but he didn't let that bother him and continued explaining, "This is how the test will go, my listeners! You'll be experiencing ten-minute-long 'Mock Cityscape Manoeuvres'! Bring along whatever you want! After this presentation, you'll each head to your assigned testing location!"
Izuku noticed out the corner of his eye that the testing area Katsuki will be going to is different from the one he is. He figured out that they probably don't want friends to team up for the exam, which made him relieved that he wasn't going to be in the same examination area as Katsuki. Him learning about his 'quirk' will just end badly, and Izuku didn't know what he'll do if they get into Yuei. Shaking his head, he refocused on Present Mic who began talking again, although with his loud voice it was really shouting.
"Each site is filled with three kinds of faux villains. Points are awarded for defeating each according to their respective difficulty levels!" Present Mic began explaining, as the screen behind him showed what seemed to be a testing site with the silhouettes of three robots, with the number of points they're worth shown alongside them. "Use your quirks to disable these faux villains and earn points! That's your goal, listeners! Of course, playing the anti-hero and attacking other examinees is prohibited!"
Looking around, Izuku could spot a few who seemed disappointed by what Present Mic said, making him wonder why they were even there. Ignoring them, Izuku decided to look through the handout they were all given, to see if it mentions what the robots could do. It didn't, but the pictures provided were helpful, but he decided to look through them later. It seemed like the hero wasn't done explaining things.
"Excuse me, may I ask a question?" A blue haired examinee stood up and interrupted the hero, continuing without waiting for an answer "On the handout, there appears to be no fewer than four varieties of faux villains! Such a blatant error, if it is one, is highly unbecoming for Yuei, Japan's top academy! We're all here today in the hopes of being moulded into model heroes!"
Izuku sweat dropped at how the blue haired boy acted, and it seemed like quite a few other attendees were stunned by his actions. Izuku even heard a few muttering things like "Who shoved a pole up his ass?" or "What a stuck-up prick!". Izuku didn't think they were being fair, since the blue haired guy was probably just nervous, but couldn't he have waited for Present Mic to finish his explanation.
"Alright, alright!" Present Mic exclaimed, as it seemed several audience members were getting agitated by the interruption, "Thanks for the segue, much appreciated, examinee 7111! The fourth faux villain variety you'll encounter is worth zero points! He's more of an obstacle! Have any of you ever played 'Super Mario Brothers' before!?"
"I guess it's rather retro..." He muttered to himself, although everyone heard him, "It's kind of like a thwomp! There's a thing like that in each area! Their 'gimmick' is that they rampage around in close quarters!"
"I see... Sounds like one of those stage hazards you just have to slip through and avoid." One attendee exclaimed.
"This really is starting to resemble a video game." Another one muttered to themselves.
"THANK YOU, SIR! I APOLOGIZE FOR THE INTERRUPTION!" The blue haired kid shouted in response.
"Well, that's all from me! I'll leave my listeners with our school motto! As a certain 'hero' by the name of Napoleon Bonaparte once said, 'True heroism consists in being superior to the ills of life.'" Present Mic explained to the students, "Now let's move to the main event and may you all suffer gladly the trials to come! PLUS ULTRA!"
Afterwards, the examinees were instructed to change into the outfits they've chosen for the exams and head towards the buses that will take them towards their areas. Once Izuku was on the bus, he began looking through the handout they were given. There were four robots shown there, and they were called the victory, imperial, venator and executor class bots.
The victory bots were worth one point, and they moved on a single wheel. He could make out what seemed to be mini guns attached to their arms, which Izuku hoped fired rubber bullets. He figured that the one pointers were probably fast-moving gunners, but they were fragile and easily destroyed.
The imperial bots were worth two points, and from their appearance they seemed to be quite durable. Moving on four legs instead of wheels probably made them rather slow, and it didn't seem like they had any ranged weapons. They were probably melee fighters that attacked using what seemed to be their tail.
The venator bots were worth three points and their main weapon was very obvious. They had missile launchers attached to them, making Izuku wonder how Yuei managed to not get sued. The robots also appeared to be heavily armoured and with how they moved on wheels they were probably reasonably quick.
The executor bots, which were worth zero points, seemed to lack any form of weaponry. Izuku was confused as to how these were like thwomps, since it didn't seem to be some insurmountable ordeal. He figured that the zero-pointer had something that made it very difficult to defeat, but it wasn't obvious from the pictures. As they reached the testing site, Izuku just sighed and put down the handout. Getting off the bus, Izuku was shocked by the size of the mock city they were going to do the exercise in.
"It's so big. This might as well be a whole town!" One examinee exclaimed, "How many replica sites like this exist on campus!?"
Izuku looked around, surprised how many people were confident and ready, before shaking his head and reminding himself that he was ready too. He had trained extremely hard for the last ten months and prepared for this very exam. Seeing the girl that helped him earlier today looking a little nervous, he headed her way to try and cheer her up. However, he was stopped by the blue haired guy grabbing his shoulder rather roughly.
"That girl seems to be doing some kind of meditation." The attendee admonished him, apparently thinking that he was going to mess with her. "Why are you here? Are you hoping to interfere?"
Izuku before getting the Omnitrix and spending those ten months working on himself, both physically and mentally, would have been too flustered and nervous to explain what he was doing. Izuku of now, managed to calmly reply to the blue haired guy grabbing his shoulder, "She helped me earlier, and I just wanted to help her calm down. Don't just go assuming the worst in people."
"Ah... My apologies."
"It's fine. You're just nervous, like everyone else here, even if they're trying to hide it." Izuku replied, having recognized what he was going through.
"It was that obvious..." The blue haired examinee muttered quietly, although Izuku heard him.
"Sort of... It's just with you acting like a robot and everything, it's hard to miss." Izuku answered him, and after seeing him get a bit upset, Izuku smiled and told him "Don't worry. Everyone here is nervous and stressed out. Just do your best and everything will be fine."
Those words seemed to help the blue haired teen relax a bit, but they were interrupted by a very loud voice. Looking around, Izuku saw that it originated from a tall tower, and he recognized the voice he heard. It was Present Mic, and Izuku was impressed that he could yell loud enough to be heard across all the mock cities.
"And begin!" Present Mic shouted, and everybody just stood there confused. "What's the matter? There's no such thing as a countdown in a real battle! Run! RUN!"
Having spent enough time sparring with Garou and the other students, Izuku managed to react quickly and activate the Omnitrix. As the crowd of examinees began rushing towards the open gate, Izuku had selected and transformed into his chosen form.
"SUPERSONIC!" Exclaimed Izuku as he transformed into this fastest alien, the black and blue humanoid feline. Quickly overtaking the other examinees, Izuku made his way into the mock city.
It didn't take Izuku long to find himself face to face with a robot, a one pointer to be exact. While Supersonic was a speed focused alien, he did possess greater strength than most people, so Izuku rushed the bot and struck its eye. He was happy to learn that his assumption that the one pointers were fragile was spot on, as he destroyed its processing unit and shut it down. He repeated this for a few other one pointers, but when faced with a two pointer he used its own tail to pierce through its body.
Eventually he found himself surrounded by a number of bots, since he managed to move much faster than the others, he ended up deep in robot territory. Izuku wasn't too worried, in fact he just smirked at the robots surrounding him.
"You think you've got me surrounded, but the truth is you made things easier for me." After saying that, Izuku pressed on the Omnitrix on his chest and switched forms with a bright green flash.
"TECHTONIC!" Exclaimed a deep and gruff voice, and as the green light disappeared stood in place of the black and blue cat was a much larger armoured being. Izuku was now around three meters tall, with an armoured, mechanical robotic-like body. His head was similar to a Greek Corinthian helmet with two ears on it, giving him the appearance of an armadillo. Techtonic has a grey tail and jackhammer parts on his elbows, wrists and hands, creating the impression that he is a digging robot. His fingers have a small horizontal line design along with his tail and the black parts of his limbs, his arms, upper arms, and thighs are now more chain-like. Despite the mechanical and robot-like parts, they are all biological and natural parts of him.
"Answer me this... What happens when your face meets my fist?" Izuku said with rumbling voice, as the jackhammer on his elbow began to piston in and out. Punching the nearest robot, which happened to be a three pointer, he sent it crashing back with, completely mangled and destroyed. He also released a shockwave that forced a number of robots back, "It gets crushed!"
Punching the ground with his other fist, Izuku released a shockwave through the ground causing the robots to stumble and give him some room. Rushing one, his hand turned into a drill and tore through it, reducing it to scraps. The rubber bullets, as he later found out, simply bounced off his metallic body and the missiles, which were thankfully really weak, barely affected him. Eventually Izuku was finished with the robots that surrounded him, and he noticed that the rest of the examinees were getting close.
"I should leave the rest of them for the others." Izuku muttered to himself as he saw more robots seeping in from the alleys further ahead. "I'll go look in other areas, with all the competition here, I'll barely gather points."
Pressing on the Omnitrix, Izuku was surrounded with a green flash and in his place stood a humanoid, moth-like alien, whose four wings and two antennae-like wings folded up into a poncho-esque robe with a hood, giving him the appearance of a phantom. He has a black body with blue patching on his slender chest, along his arms and legs, and reaching up to the back of his neck. He has cyan patches that resemble ice chunks on his legs and arms. Thick black lines border the back end of each wing, which also contain three cyan patches of their own. He has three pointed fingers and a thumb on each hand, and three toes on each foot: two in front and one behind. His face is blue and has thick black lines surrounding his eyes and mouth, which all meet at the centre of his face. He also has a black marking on his head that extends over his scalp, forcing the remaining blue parts of his forehead into a Y-shape. He has bright green eyes, with small darker spots inside.
"FROSTMOTH!" Izuku exclaimed as he transformed into the frost spewing alien and flew off through one of the alleys. He was surprised when a one pointer robot crashed through the wall, but he managed to swerve around it. Exhaling, Izuku froze the robot's wheel and lower body, but before he could finish it off, a bright blue laser pierced through it and destroyed it.
"Merci! I appreciate the assist!" A blonde guy, with a smoking belt like support item, said as he posed, "Nevertheless, it seems we shall not cross paths again!"
Leaving with a haughty smirk and wink, Izuku stood there deadpanned as he held the robot's head. Shaking his head, Izuku turned towards the robot's head and sighed.
"That was seriously not cool..." Izuku muttered to himself, before cracking a grin, although it wasn't visible on the Necrofrigian's face. "Get it?"
Chuckling to himself, Izuku moved on, quickly making his way through the city, since he didn't bother with walls with his intangibility. Any robots he saw he froze completely, not wanting to let another person steal his points. It didn't take Izuku long to realize that the robots would shut down even when immobilized, which made sense since not all quirks were combative in nature.
Eventually he found himself near the main road of the mock city, and he transformed back to normal, wanting to take a breather. Looking around, Izuku couldn't see any robots left, other than those being dealt with by other examinees and Izuku didn't want to steal points from others. He figured that there couldn't be more than a several minutes left.
Hearing a few others exclaim how many points they've, like the girl that helped him earlier today with 28 points and the blue haired guy getting 45, Izuku wondered how many points he'd gathered. Seeing the Omnitrix had recharged from its brief break, he turned into Feedback, and jumped into the fray, looking for more robots.
"We don't tell them how many faux villains there are or how they're placed." An unknown voice began saying in a room filled with monitors showing various participants of the exam. "Such a wide battlefield and limited time brings out the best of them."
The person, or rather creature, was a small and stout chimera, or a combination of several different animals. His fur was white, he had black eyes and a scar going over his right eye. He was Nezu the principle of Yuei Highschool, and currently he was with a number of his staff viewing the ensuing test.
"There are those who can assess the situation in an instant" Nezu said, as the main monitor flashed towards an examinee with six arms transformed into sensory organs, "Intelligence gatherers."
"Those who'll never be late to the party" a member of the staff stated, a beautiful woman with purple hair, as the monitor flashed towards the blue haired examinee with exhaust ports on his calves, "Mobility experts."
"Those who can cope with any given situation" another person continued, an imposing man with white hair and fangs, as the monitor showed the blonde with the laser shooting belt, "Decision makers."
"Those who can adapt to any situation and act accordingly" someone else growled out, a ferocious dog-like man, as the monitor showed Izuku switching between forms to deal with the robots, "Versatility specialists."
"And then those who excel and thrive in fighting" grumbled another staff member, a tired looking and hobo-like black haired man, as the monitor showed a bug-like guy that sprouted blades to slice the robots apart, "Combat junkies."
"We can gauge their respective levels of those foundational skills by way of the points system." Explained Nezu to their new staff member, the others having done the same.
"Oh my," Exclaimed the purple haired woman with a sultry tone, "This year's quite the bumper crop. All those youthful and energetic young bodies..."
"Down Nemuri..." The hobo-like man groaned out, having gotten far too used to her antics.
"We can't be sure of that yet." Nezu continued, answering Midnight's comment with his own, as he pressed a button labelled 'Yaruki Switch', "The thing to really test their mettle... Is this!"
"Man, it's pretty easy dealing with these things as Feedback. I should've transformed into him from the beginning." Izuku exclaimed after draining another robot of its energy using his tail plug and firing an electric blast at a robot charging at him and destroying it. "Oh well, I still got a whole bunch of points. Definitely more than forty, maybe I even got to fifty points."
Izuku was broken out of his thoughts as he felt the ground shake a bit, and soon students began running past him in a panic. He thought about stopping one of them to ask them what's wrong but what's wrong came into sight. It was the zero pointer, and the picture did not show how big it was. The thing was taller than some of the buildings in the mock city.
'I can't destroy it as Feedback, at least not right now. Maybe if I had a huge power source...' Izuku mused to himself, panicking slightly but knowing he can fly away as Frostmoth if need be.
As Izuku turned to escape alongside the other examinees, he heard someone grunting in pain. He couldn't really tell how he heard a small voice in the chaos that was happening but turning around he saw the girl that helped him that morning trapped and the zero-pointer advancing.
It didn't take him long to reach her, Feedback being a relatively fast alien, and Izuku already knew what he had to do.
Amongst the staff watching the test, the new member with his wavy blonde hair, began talking as he witnessed Izuku rush towards danger rather than away from it, his smile widening at the sight, "When there's nothing to be gained...Rising to the challenge at those times is surely the mark of a true hero!"
Izuku hit the Omnitrix as he reached the girl, a bright green light engulfing him. In place of Feedback stood a being made of living metal. He had a magnetically floating metal head surrounded by a glowing white aura and that levitates in an arch between his shoulders. He has a yellow eyebrow-like crest on his forehead and his head is skull-shaped with lines beneath his mouth. The second part was his He has crab-like claws for hands and his body is mainly brownish-black with yellow feet, hands, shoulders, and chest.
"POLARIS!" Izuku exclaimed as he raised one clawed hand towards the approaching hand and using his magnetokinesis he took control over it. "I like to think that I have a magnetic personality, what do you think?"
Having developed a fondness for quips from watching Ben's life, Izuku couldn't help himself when he thought of them. Still, he didn't lose focus on what was important, and he strengthened his control by using his other hand as well. To his unique vision, Izuku could see the magnetic waves he was emitting and controlling in the form of rings moving from his hand towards the robot. Smirking, Izuku began dismantling the robot by first causing its arm to break apart and then moving to the rest of it. In no time at all, Izuku had destroyed the massive robot, and moved to help the trapped girl. Using his claws and enhanced strength he began lifting the debris on her leg.
"Are you alright?" Izuku asked the girl, as he helped her stand up.
"Ugh, I think I hurt my ankle." She replied, her face scrunching up in pain, "Don't worry about me. I'll just find a place to sit and rest my leg. You can still gather points."
"It's fine, helping others is more important than beating up robots. Besides, I'm confident with my score and..."
"IT'S ALL OVER!" A familiar voice washed over the examinees, as Present Mic signalled the end of the exam. "FOR EVERYONE INJURED, STAY WHERE YOU ARE! WE'VE GOT MEDIC BOTS HEADED YOUR WAY WHO'LL TAKE YOU TO THE NURSE'S OFFICE! WE'VE ALSO GOT SOME HEROES HELPING OUT THOSE THAT ARE TRAPPED OR INJURED AS WELL! FOR EVERYONE ELSE, MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE BUS, WHICH WILL LEAVE IN A BIT!"
"The time's up. I could have sworn we had a bit more time, but I guess you lose track of it when destroying robots." Izuku told her. Despite being quite shy, around girls especially, while transformed he felt much braver than normal. Izuku would have tried saving her regardless, but he would have likely failed.
Neither of them heard the others talking to each other about what Izuku had done, wondering why he'd waste time stopping something worth zero points instead of destroying even more robots. The blue haired kid was the only one who noticed that Izuku didn't run to destroy the robot, but rather he ran to save the girl. Destroying the robot was only a side effect of that decision.
'He didn't hesitate! Not one bit! I mean sure, if this weren't an exam, I would've done the same!' The blue haired examinee thought to himself, and it didn't take him long to realize something, 'Oh? The exam... Of course... Could it be...!?'
Meanwhile a small old lady with pink her was making her way through the crowds handing the examinees gummy candies and telling them that they've done well.
"WOW! It's..." Izuku stuttered a bit, having transformed back to his normal form. He was stuttering from holding up the girl he saved, as well as from seeing the famous heroine in person, "It's the Youthful Heroine: Recovery Girl. She was the first healing hero in the country, no the world, and she paved the way for others to follow suit. One could even argue that she was amongst those that founded the very field of Support Heroics. She's amongst the record holders for longest time spent as a hero."
"Nowadays, she mainly stays here at Yuei, working as the nurse and supporting the academy. But when bad disasters strike, you could find her there helping heal people. Her quirk allows her to amplify and speed up a patient's healing process." Izuku rapidly explained, the girl leaning on him getting a bit dizzy from the explanation. Taking a breath, Izuku continued on with his explanation, "It's in large part thanks to her presence, that Yuei can go through with their over-the-top entrance exams. Oh, sorry, I got into a mumbling storm..."
Izuku apologized to the auburn headed girl once he noticed that he somehow made her dizzier than her quirk did, and he called for Recovery Girl to look over her.
"Hmm, you hurt your ankle when the rubble fell on you. Well, that's easy enough to fix. Come here," Recovery Girl said as she leaned closer to her and gave her a kiss on her hand, which caused the girl to glow with a light green aura as her body began to heal. "Come on then everybody. You heard the blonde cockatoo, head towards the bus."
'I see... So that's the true nature of the test after all! So, he...' The blue haired examinee thought to himself as they all made their way towards the bus.
Izuku learned the name of the girl he saved, Uraraka Ochaco, and they traded numbers. Izuku was really happy to have finally made a new friend, especially since he had none at the moment.
Returning home, Izuku told his mother all about the exam and the new friend he made. He got teased relentlessly about his new friend being a girl, but his mother was incredibly proud of how well he did. He was still extremely anxious about whether he managed to get in, since years of anxiety and self-deprecation don't disappear from just ten months of very good therapy. Also, everyone gets nervous while waiting for test results.
He spent that time working on designing his hero suit, something that he had a lot of trouble with. With all his different transformations and others that he might get, he didn't know how to design a suit to accommodate all of them. If his pants weren't made for transformation quirks and if he didn't tie his jacket around his waist, he would have been naked after the test. His shirt got destroyed, mainly from turning into Frostmoth, whose wings tore apart the back and Polaris' massive shoulders only worsened the damage. Thankfully, Izuku managed to quickly put on his jacket after he transformed back to normal.
Eventually his mother suggested that he just design a suit for his current transformations, after hearing him struggle to come up with a design that suits everything. That wasn't really possible, otherwise all heroes would wear the same thing, only with different designs. Her advice really helped him, and he actually managed to come up with something that worked, with a cool design too.
Izuku tried to keep himself busy, so he doesn't keep worrying about the results. He spent longer hours at the gym, he texted with Uraraka, he looked up obscure hero facts, he tried to find a place to train his alien transformations, but at the end of the day, he was still extremely anxious for the results. After a week, while lifting some weights they bought for the house, Inko came rushing into the living with a letter in hand.
"Iz... Izuku! IZUKU!" She exclaimed, having been just as anxious as her son, who got that trait from her. "It came! It's here! It's here, honey!"
"Mom, calm down!" Izuku replied, just as nervous, but trying to keep calm. He didn't want to accidentally tear the letter up.
"Are you sure you don't want to open it in private?" Inko asked after giving him the letter.
"Yeah, mom! You supported me all these months, and you've been as nervous as I am about the results." Izuku told her, and with shaky hands opened up the envelope. Inside were a bunch of papers, and what seemed to be a metallic disk. "What's this?"
Izuku said that as he took out the metallic disk and accidentally pressed something, which made him accidentally drop the device on the table. A large holographic screen appeared above it, making the Midoriyas' eyes widen. This was a holographic projector, and they were pretty pricey. For Yuei to be sending them for something like this, how much money do they have.
"Testing, 1, 2..." A voice came out of the projector, one Izuku was familiar with. A face soon appeared on the screen, one that was known worldwide. With his distinctive smile and blonde hair, although he seemed to be wearing a horrible yellow pinstriped suit, the number one hero continued speaking, "Am I on screen!?"
"ALL MIGHT!" The mother and son duo exclaimed together.
"Hello there, Midoriya-shonen. It's been a while since we've crossed paths, but we'll be seeing a lot more of each other now. I'm in town for one reason only, and it's because I have decided to work at Yuei now. What's that, citizen, turn to face camera 2? I was in the middle of telling the boy something important... it'll be fixed in post? Ah, alright, that works..."
'It wasn't.' Izuku thought with a sweat drop.
"Now to the part you've been waiting for all week, your results. Well, you did quite well on the written test, but on the practical part..." All Might stopped there for a moment, Izuku wasn't sure what for, and he was really hoping that it wasn't bad news. A moment later, and All Might continue on, "You passed! With quite a high score, 43 points! Not the highest villain points, but certainly enough to pass. Quite shocking for someone whose only had their quirk for less than a year. Before you go celebrating, there's more..."
Izuku was ecstatic to hear that he passed, so much so that a smile formed on his face that threatened to never leave. Of course, the last words All Might said crushed that smile and made his worry come back even stronger. What did he do wrong, was destroying the zero-pointer going to remove points or even cost him his chance at attending Yuei.
"I was an entertainer in a former life! Behold this screen!" All Might exclaimed as he pointed to a screen. The holographic video zoomed in on it, and the screen began playing a recording, one that nearly moved Izuku to tears.
"Uh... Excuse me, hi." The auburn-haired girl that helped Izuku on the day of the test, and the one he saved.
'Uraraka? What's she doing in the video?'
"As soon as the exam ended, this little lady petitioned us directly! What about, you ask? Well, stay tuned!" All Might voice boomed over the video.
"Uh, sorry to bother you, but... Do you know the guy with the curly green hair? He has freckles and he could transform into that floating metal head guy and that black cyclops guy, and others also. He had some green hourglass symbol on him too, if that helps." Ochaco told Present Mic, who seemed to be the staff member she found.
'That's me!'
"Would it be possible to share some of my points with him! With that last transformation of his, he could have gotten a lot more points. I don't know how much he had, but he wasted time saving me when he could have run away or fought more robots. He told me that he did fine, but what if he was trying to make me feel better! I can't stand the possibility of someone like him not making it to Yuei. He's already a hero, he saved me!"
"What can a weak deku like you do, huh?" Were the words that echoed through Izuku's head at the moment, as he relived some of his painful memories. Despite having gotten a quirk, despite having finally gotten acknowledgement from others, despite all the therapy he's undergone, nothing affected him like what Ochaco did. She was willing to give up her chance at becoming a hero, just to make sure he doesn't. Nobody's ever done that for him.
"PLEASE! At least give him the number of points he lost because of me!" Ochaco asked Present Mic in the video. Izuku's eyes were beginning to moisten, and he wasn't alone in that regards, as his mother followed suit. "THAT BOY SAVED MY LIFE!"
"Much more so than any 'quirk', it is your actions that have touched people." All Might said as the holographic video moved towards him, "And the judges were looking at more than just smashing robots for points!"
"Sorry missy, I'm afraid you can't give him your points..." Present Mic replied to her, as he patted her head, "I'm thinking you won't need to in the first place! That little listener did just fine on his own!"
"A hero course that rejects those who do the right thing is no hero course at all! Even if you scored a zero on the practical, that desire to save lives, that spirit of self-sacrifice, it would have been recognized by the heroes here at Yuei. Think it's cheesy!? Think what you want!" All Might exclaimed, his voice booming even louder as he reached the climax of his speech, "It's in the job description! Laying your life on the line to do the cheesy stuff! In this job you risk your life and put your money where your mouth is!"
"RESCUE POINTS WERE ALSO A FACTOR HERE! The judges saw that heroic spirit inside you, that burning passion to help others, and they all agree. They saw another fundamental aspect of a hero within you! Midoriya Izuku: 60 Rescue Points, and while we're at it, Uraraka Ochaco: 45 Rescue Points!"
"This...This is crazy..." Izuku began muttering to himself, as tears began leaking from his eyes. He was far from the confident young man who took on the exam, in his place was the hurt young boy who needed to have someone believe in him. His mother hugged him tightly, not even knowing why he was tearing up. At this moment, those words that All Might will be uttering, they will have been the validation he's always sought.
Did hearing that he could be a hero feel good, from his All Might, his mother and other. Yes, it did, but they were words. This, this meant something. It meant that he'll have proven everyone wrong, that he will become a hero. He destroyed the stray thoughts that tried pushing him down, the ones that whispered that he only got to where he is because of the Omnitrix. He knew they were wrong.
He trained hard, not just in using it, but on himself as well. It didn't define who he was. Even without it, he'll still try and work himself to the bone to achieve his dreams. The Omnitrix did more than just give him power, it gave him hope. It supported him when he was ready to crack and fall apart. But he still needed to hear All Might say those last few words.
"Meaning... Midoriya Izuku: 103 points total. You passed kid, you topped the charts. Come now, Midoriya-shonen! This will be your hero academia!"
Izuku began crying, no longer able to hold back his tears. This time though, those tears were happy ones. He's done it. He's achieved the first step on his path to becoming a hero. Replying to the hologram with a wobbly and wet voice, Izuku's smile couldn't be any wider, "Yes sir!".
Hugging his mother tightly, Izuku couldn't be any happier. His life was turning around, and it was only thanks to all the help he's received.
Eventually, after all the drama was over, Izuku looked over the rest of the papers in the envelope, and they turned out to be forms for him to fill, like the one for his costume design and possible support gear. Izuku and his mother ended up finishing most of them quickly.
Afterwards, Izuku talked with Ochaco, thanking her greatly for what she did. That really flustered her, since she didn't know that they were going to show that to him. They eventually began talking about what they could learn and who their teachers might be. Ochaco really wanted Thirteen to teach them, since she was her favourite hero, while Izuku was excited to have All Might as a teacher. They argued that it's unlikely either will teach them, full time at least, since Thirteen is a rescue hero and All Might will probably be busy teaching the third years, who have more experience.
While Izuku chatted with his friend, Inko was talking with hers, to tell her the good news. Mitsuki was really happy that Izuku managed to get in, making sure not to let Katsuki know, since he was making a great deal of progress with his therapy and anger management. Apparently, while he did score high enough to get in, the principle, who recorded his message, refused his acceptance. Nezu explained that with Yuei's style of teaching, with the way they give their students the freedom to do whatever they want, it will only make the progress Katsuki has done disappear. Nezu did offer Katsuki a place a Shiketsu, mentioning that with the score he got, he'll have a spot there without question.
The old Katsuki would have exploded and raged, but this new one simply accepted the offer. After the sludge villain incident, a spark had seemed to disappear from him. From what Mitsuki learned from his therapist, apparently, Katsuki realized that he's done a lot of bad things. That he's very far away from becoming a hero, like he dreams of being, and that he's closer to being a villain. Once he realized and accepted what he did, a great deal of guilt began forming within him. It will take time for him to deal with it, but Mitsuki was just happy to see that Katsuki was getting better.
Inko didn't say anything, since she didn't want to start a fight or upset her friend, but she was happy that Katsuki wasn't going to Yuei with Izuku. It's too soon in her opinion for the two of them to put things behind them, and this way they can both achieve their dreams. She decided to only mention to Izuku that Katsuki was going to Shiketsu, and nothing else.
Thankfully, the school didn't do anything like announce who was going to which school, which really helped Izuku who was trying to stay away from the spotlight there. He just had too many bad memories and was eager to finish and leave.
Since that day was a rest day for Izuku, he decided to head out and enjoy the beach he helped clean. Polaris was really helpful in removing all the small metal bits that were hidden in the sand and Shardrock let him easily turn apart the sand to find anything else hidden there. He actually started doing commissions on crystal objects, after making a few and selling them online. His mother looked into it, and so long as it's clearly stated that the object was made through the use of a quirk, then its legal to make and sell them.
He wasn't sure why that label would change anything, but he figured it was the same hang up people had with synthetic gems and diamonds. He didn't care that much, since he still sold quite a bit and made some extra cash. He mainly bought more hero merchandise, but he did also get himself a new gaming system. He wasn't a big gamer, but there were quite a few games that were coming out that he really wanted to play.
Eventually spring came, and Izuku was going to begin attending Yuei high school.
"Izuku! Have you got your pocket tissues?" His mother asked him as he hurriedly began putting on his shoes.
"Yeah." Izuku replied absentmindedly.
"And your handkerchief!? Have you got that?"
"Yes!"
"Did you pack some action figures in your bag?"
"What? No! I haven't done that since I was a kid." Izuku replied slightly annoyed as he finished putting on his other shoe. "No time... Got to hurry..."
Hearing her son mutter to himself about being late, Inko took in her son in his Yuei school uniform. "Izuku!"
"What?" Izuku asked as he was leaving, horrified by the thought of being late on the first day.
"You look really cool now."
"Thanks..." Izuku replied, smiling at her, "See you soon, mom!"
Leaving the apartment, Izuku made his way to the train station. Along the way he tried to calm his nerves, which didn't really work. He was still anxious about screwing up in front of his new classmates and causing him to become the outcast for the next three years. Shaking his head, since Yuei had a strict anti-bullying policy, so he should be fine. He already has a friend in class, Uraraka.
OMAKE:
Getting off the bus, Izuku began doing some warmup exercises and stretches, to limber up. Despite not really needing to with the Omnitrix, it still made him feel better, so he did them anyways.
'Man, it's really my lucky day. We'll be fighting robots, and I have the perfect alien for the job. I'll ace this exam!' Izuku thought to himself as he activated his Omnitrix and selected the alien he had in mind.
"UPGRADE!" Izuku exclaimed in a digitized voice, as he transformed into a Galvanic Mechamorph. He became a humanoid blob of small cell-like creatures called nanites. He has a black exterior with green stripes that resemble circuitry all over him. The green circle on his head is his eye, which glows whenever he talks. His front torso was green with black circuitry patterns, and the Omnitrix was located in the centre of his chest.
The green light seemed to distract some of the examinees, but if they couldn't focus and ignore some lights, then they probably shouldn't be here. Moving to the front of the pack, he readied himself and when he heard the word 'begin', he just ran through the opened gate. Normally he would have wondered why there wasn't a countdown, but when he transformed into Upgrade, he became more logical and rational about things.
Despite not being that fast, Izuku quickly reached a robot before any of the other examinees just because of his short head start. Seeing the one pointer robot, he jumped at it and merged with it. It stopped moving and Upgrade's circuitry pattern spread over it. He then began upgrading the robot into a more deadly machine.
The gatling guns below its arms became gatling laser cannons sprouting above them, and missile launchers grew out of its back. Its singular wheel became wider and more stable. Quickly moving towards the rest of the robots, which seemed to be horrified by what they saw, Izuku aimed at them with his fancy new laser cannons and began firing. Each shot would pierce and destroy a robot, and once he began launching missiles at further ones, he quickly gathered up points. Eventually, a large number of robots, mainly one and three pointers, surrounded him.
"So, you think you've got me outgunned, do you?" Izuku asked them, as the robot quickly grew many cannons, lasers and missile launchers from its body and in all directions. "What you should really be thinking is, do you feel lucky punk? Do you?"
Having borrowed that line from a movie, Izuku acted upon his threat and began firing and demolishing the robots around him. After the smoke cleared, only one was standing and it wasn't any of the standard Yuei villain bots.
He began hearing the ground rumbling and looking around he saw the cause. It was the zero pointer, and it was massive. It was taller than some of the buildings in the mock city. Izuku was about to turn around and leave, before the advanced cameras on the robot he was piloting noticed somebody trapped int he zero pointer's path. Quickly rushing towards the trapped girl, which happened to be the same one that saved him earlier that day, he quickly flung the rock trapping her.
Grabbing her, Izuku moved her to a safe spot and glared at the behemoth bot rampaging. He began speeding towards it, after he muttered to himself, "Somebody is going to get hurt by that robot."
On the way, his robot body began getting bigger and more weapons began appearing, until he was around the quarter of the zero pointer's size. Feeling it staring at him and laughing, Izuku grew pissed and grew even more weapons pointing at it.
"So, you think that just because you're bigger, you're stronger?" Izuku exclaimed in anger, "Well, guess what? The bigger they are, the harder they fall!"
He began firing lasers, missiles and energy blasts at the massive machine, and after a minute of nonstop shooting, he stopped for a bit. Waiting for the smoke to clear, Izuku was really happy to see the massive machine riddled with holes and parts of it destroyed. It was clearly dead, and Izuku replied by blowing on the guns attached to his arms. If he could breathe that is, he just mimed it to look cool.
Later when the results came in, it turned out he got one of the highest practical scores in Yuei's history, falling under a few kids with powerful magnetism or technomancy quirks. It also turned out that Yuei continued releasing robots to give all the examinees a fair chance at entering, since several people who were in his testing group got relatively good scores. That actually took a load off his mind, since he was worried that his ruthless devastation of the robots might have caused the others to fail. He didn't think about that while transformed, since Upgrade sort of makes him think more logically and with less emotions, to an extent.
Hey guys, sorry it's been a late update, but I'm barely getting internet, and I work on word online, which sucks. Have I mentioned that before?
Anyways, so here is the entrance exam, and it was really difficult to write since I was trying to go for a minimum of 10k words. However, that just wasn't happening. Without the omake, its only around 7.7k words, which isn't too bad, considering most fic writers end up with less than half that per chapter. I have mentioned that I'll try to make chapters reach 10k, but with this fic I might just work with what the chapters will be focused on.
I wrote my first omake! What do you guys think? I mainly wrote it since Upgrade and Lodestar got equal votes, but I could see Lodestar having much more use to Izuku's hero career. It's why I chose some of his aliens, I'll be explaining that in the next chapter.
So why didn't he use Lodestar from the beginning, well he didn't want to accidentally affect students with metallic body parts or whose quirks have something to do with metal. He was also trying to be as fair as possible to everyone else, since he could have just used Lodestar to just dismantle every robot in the vicinity. I just wanted to show off some of his other transformation.
Izuku is pretty OOC, but that's because he grew as a character. He's going to be OOC, because people change. This change didn't happen in a day, but through ten months of hard work to better himself.
Just as a heads up for everyone, this fic is not going to be an Izuku/Ochaco fic. I was writing a mini rant, but I deleted it since they get really long. Short version, this fic won't be Izuku/Ochaco, and that's that. They'll be friends, but no dating. Also, she won't be getting ofa, just saying now.
Honestly, on that topic, please everyone, don't ask me to have All Might give Izuku ofa. It wouldn't make sense, since it won't affect the Omnitrix or the aliens, plus All Might already found a different successor by the time he got over his hang ups about Izuku getting his 'quirk' and its capabilities.
This chapter was mostly the entrance exam, what did you guys think of the combat? Is it good, ok, bad or what? How can I improve upon it, please tell me.
Bakugo won't be going to Yuei. Here's the thing, I'm not going to rant. I had some long rant about the character, but I'm not going to include it. Simply put, to me, for Izuku to be able to grow as a character, he needs to be away from Bakugo. Will they meet again, maybe, I don't know. I know there's the licencing exam, but we'll see what happens when we get there.
I mentioned this in my replies to some reviewers, once I reach 5 chapters in Naruto: Monster Gamer and this one, I'll start with a new fic. This is because I want to have a revolving set of stories that I work on, and those that people aren't liking too much, I can just move off of. Eventually I'll rewrite them when I'm more experienced and maybe they'll do better, but we'll see. This is so I don't get burnt out and experience writer's block, which I can push through but it's annoying. Plus, I have a bunch of fic ideas going through my head, and I really want to write them. I'll put up a poll for which fic I should start on next, so please everyone, VOTE! I capitalized it since only one person voted for the Lodestar/Upgrade/Cannonball poll.
