Prompt: 3 Souuuuuuup 3
Her phone's screen lit up, distracting Ziva from the long list of Johnsons she had to contact to find a relative of the missing Marine.
3 Souuuuuuup 3
She blinked twice, then looked at Tony with a frown.
Tony raised his eyebrows in question.
Ziva glanced at Gibbs and McGee, who were both engrossed in their own work, turned back to Tony and mouthed "What?"
He mouthed back what she assumed was "soup", not that that cleared up anything.
She pinched the bridge of her nose, ignored him, and went back to the list of phone numbers. Striking through the last number she had called, she dialed the next, and patiently waited for someone to pick up.
Another message appeared on her phone.
Soup for dinner?
Ziva sighed and rubbed her brow, a feeble attempt at warding off the first signs of a headache. Cradling the phone's handset between her ear and shoulder, she typed her reply.
I am not making soup
She glanced at Tony, who was watching her blankly before typing away furiously on his phone.
Miss Ziva David, will you do me the honor of joining me for a tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich dinner at Casa DiNozzo? *All expenses and dishes paid for
Feeling most of her grumpiness fade, Ziva smiled and nodded, locking eyes with him longer than necessary. When the tenseness in her neck and shoulders increased, she threw the handset on the receiver, and said, "Will nobody answer their phone anymore?"
"People prefer to text these days, Ziva," Tony said casually, digging through his top drawer. "I'm out of leads," he said, and stretched before standing up.
Ziva sighed in frustration, rubbing her forehead, and looked at the long list of phone numbers yet to be called.
"I will trade you this," Tony said dropping a box of Tylenol on her desk, slightly startling her, "for half of your phone list."
She looked up at him, his warm gaze and thoughtfulness making her heartbeat quicken. "Thank you."
Tony grabbed the second page of the list of phone numbers, and winked at her before returning to his desk. "I'm sure we've all got a hot date we'd rather not delay this fine Friday evening."
