It seemed like the beginning of an ordinary day, until MacGyver's world was turned upside-down when he unexpectedly was given custody of the fifteen-year-old son of an old love.

Follow up of sorts to What You Lost And What I Found. Mac thinks about how his life changed in twelve hours.

It's been far too long since she's had a moment of calm, of peace. A moment free of worry and stress and carefully worded sitreps and debriefs. Even with all her carefully planned arrangements and security measures in place, she should have known it wouldn't last.

Sometimes, more than others, it's harder for Jack to stand down and walk away.

Mac makes his way across the expanse of the hanger bay, each step halting, harder, and more painful than the last. Flashfic drabble written for Whumptober 2023, Day 10 "You said you'd never leave."

Mac needs to disarm a bomb. Problem is that he has to run through fire to get to it. Afterwards Jack helps Mac to get to exfil in time.

'They were subtle signs, more than likely missed by everyone else in the meeting room, but Jack caught them even from the other end of the table they all sat around. It was in the haunted look in Mac's eyes, his complete detachment from everything happening around him, and the breaths that were much too shallow for Jack's liking.' Mac has a panic attack. Jack accidentally concussed Mac on a mission. Now he has to get Mac to Exfil. Afterwards Jack mother hens Mac because he feels guilty.

I've been sitting on this novelette for awhile, but it is not complete. My goal of publishing it a chapter at a time, is to keep me accountable to finish it. This takes place somewhere in season four and features the "odd triple" of Mac, Jack, and Pete. The story unfolds with a tired, dirty Mac who just can't say no to a friend.
