A/N: Hello again, everyone! I hope everyone's had a good Halloween! Can you believe the year is about to come to an end? I can't. It's the moment you've all been waiting for…the birth of the fourth and final Bastien-Reid baby.
Once Élise realized she was in labor, she was in the back of the Suburban with her security detail packing her bags for her. She texted her parents, brother, and sister-in-law that she was in labor right now and had arranged for them to be in D.C. by morning.
Before he left with her, Spencer woke up Rose and told her he and Élise would be in the hospital and to make sure the kids were taken care of and not to let the kids give her much as he hoped the same for them. He called his father to tell him the big news, and William replied that he'd be in the city by morning time and was booking the next flight. He decided to hold off telling Aunt Ethel, Uncle Gordon, and his cousins until the birth, the same with his mother, though she'd lived in the city.
Élise threw her headphones over her ears and tuned them up a notch when Spencer tapped her shoulder. She lifted an ear and asked, "Are you okay?"
"Are you okay?" he questioned her back.
"This is not our first rodeo, Spencer," Élise snapped the ear back, trying to listen to some music to relax herself. "But this will be our last."
Spencer sighed heavily to himself. This was going to be their last baby rodeo.
Élise's agents pulled into the second entrance of the red brick MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and turned off the ignition. It's been heard that the hospital is aiming to plan a new state-of-the-art facility expansion.
While Spencer helped Élise out and got her settled in a wheelchair, her agents hauled their bags from the trunk and followed them into the grand lobby, which was a wide, cool color palette and polished ceramic tiled flooring. Indistinct doctor's orders were heard over the speakers. There were groups of people (small and large) sitting in the square upholstered chairs and circular tables, and doctors on call paced back and forth, their pagers going off.
Spencer got to the white L-shaped booth-like receptionist desk, where two women were waiting. One was in nurses' scrubs and business casual attire. One of them looked up and asked how they were doing this evening, before Spencer replied that they were okay and got checked in.
Spencer waited patiently by himself in the private waiting room outside Élise's suite (her detail stood outside the waiting room). For the past thirty minutes, Spencer's been easing his mind by rereading medical books. He texted Hotch that Élise is in labor right now and will be starting his parental leave. Hotch replied, wishing him good luck and saying he was enjoying spending time with the kids while he was away at work.
Spencer didn't know why he and Élise were so relaxed about the birth. So far, she hasn't yelled, screamed, or threatened to cause bodily hurt to him. Maybe because this was going to be the last time, they're expected to be pregnant and are done having children? The two hoped to keep it that way, especially Spencer. Though he'll admit to being entertained by Élise's.
Spencer reminded himself to give a shoutout to Morgan since his process is going along steadily. For a moment, he thought he was never going to see Morgan again. Sure, he's done some things that annoyed him (and Élise when Séraphine had RSV), but there were the times he's been there for him and thought of him as an older brother Spencer never had. He often thought (and smiled) about how Morgan's sisters told him that Morgan would talk about him. Things wouldn't be the same without him—the team wouldn't be the same without him.
Spencer closed his book just as Élise's private suite door swung open. He turned to see Dr. Patterson walking out and closing the door behind her. "So, Dr. Patterson," he stood up and smoothed his hands over his slacks. How is she?"
"She's great," she answered, clutching her clipboard to her chest. "She's holding off on the epidural until the delivery, and if my calculations are correct, the baby should be here in the next few hours."
Spencer glanced at his watch and predicted the baby would be here at three or four in the morning. He looked up upon hearing the door open again, and Élise strolled in, her body attired in her terrycloth robe and slippers.
"Hey, honey," he gave her a quick embracement and kissed the top of her head. "How are you doing?"
"How would you be if you had to push out a human being?" Élise questioned him back.
Spencer scratched the back of his head—he didn't know how to answer that question. "Can I get you something?"
"How about a new vagina?" Élise gave him a sarcastic answer with a blank expression on her face, causing Spencer to have a stammered face.
"AHHH…!" Élise shrieked at the top of her lungs.
Spencer caressed her shoulders firmly, soothing, "You can do this, Lise. You've done this before…"
Élise jerked him forward by snatching his medical scrubs and snarled in his face. "You better get your…" she made a wiggy motion with her pinky finger before she continued. "…cut off, or I'm gonna do it myself."
She released him as Dr. Patterson urged her through her mask, "Come on, Élise. Just another big push. I think I'm seeing her head…"
As much as it pained her (and it did the last two times she had to give birth), Élise gave it all that she got with the pushing, grasping her hand onto Spencer's wrist and hand.
"Come on…that's it…"
"Mmmff…!" Spencer sibilated. "Ooof…"
Soon, the suite was thrilled by the sound of a squeaky cry.
Dr. Patterson gasped. "Congratulations, you two."
That same morning, still in their pajamas, Séraphine and Isaac rode down (by riding down, scooting their backsides down) the stairs until they reached the bottom.
"I win! I win!" Isaac cheered before he started taunting her. "You lose! You lose!"
Séraphine stuck her tongue out as she and her younger brother stepped into the kitchen, only to see their nanny, Rose, feeding Alexander his breakfast at his highchair table.
"Good morning, you two."
"Good morning," the older kids simultaneously replied.
Séraphine looked around and asked, "Where's Mom and Dad?"
"They went to the hospital last night. You all have a new baby sister!" Rose announced bubbly.
Séraphine jumped for joy. "A sister! My little sister! Another girl in the family!" She started spinning and twirling around the kitchen like the prima ballerinas and ballet dancers from the movies she'd been watching. "Yeah-yeah!"
"Yippee…" Isaac gave a thumbs up and a small smile.
Spencer had just removed his face mask, but he still had on the scrubs and cap once he and Élise had some alone time with their pink-bundled newborn daughter. After he washed and cleaned off his hands, he stood by her side and sat next to her. Élise was still propped up in bed with her matted hair under a scrub cap, and her skin glowed.
"Hey, sweetheart," Élise whispered. "It's Mommy. Beside me is Daddy."
Spencer tickled her cheek, causing the newborn girl to make a gurgling sound. "Awww, she's so beautiful…just like her mother."
Élise smooched her face, making her gurgle again. "Can you get my cell for me, please?" she extended her arm out, pointing to her Goyard tote bag, which was sitting on the cream-colored armchair.
Spencer walked around her bed to find her bag. He rummaged for it until he pulled it out and handed it to Élise. "Here you go," he said.
"Thanks, babe. " After unlocking her cellphone, she pressed the Skype app on her cellphone and clicked on Rose's profile. "The kids should be up and ready for school, so let's give them a sneak peek of their new baby sister."
Spencer scooted closer to Élise on the bed, getting himself settled in and waiting for Rose to answer. And when she did, Rose's face appeared on the screen.
"Morning, Élise. Morning, Spencer." She waved to the screen.
"Morning, Rose," Spencer replied. "How are you holding down the fort?"
Rose sighed lightly. "The fort's still standing. How was the delivery?"
"It went well," Élise pushed her arms towards the screen. "Our little girl is here."
Rose gasped. "She's so precious."
"Thanks, Rose," Élise smiled. "Think you can put the kids on the screen, please, so they can see their little sister."
Rose swayed her phone camera away from her and onto the kids. Her voice was heard in the background: "Hey, kiddies. It's your parents…" Now, the screen showed a close-up of the kids at the table, eating.
"Hi, Mommy and Daddy!"
Spencer and Élise waved back. "Hey, little ones! We hope you all were good to Rose."
"They were," said Rose in the background.
"Say hello to your new baby sister!"
Séraphine pushed Isaac out of the frame so it could focus on her, and she smiled. "Hey, baby sis! I'm Séraphine, your big sister."
Isaac shoved Séraphine away; now, it focused on him. "And I'm your big brother, Isaac."
Séraphine jostled him back and retorted, "But I'm the oldest of us all."
"And the bossiest of us all," Isaac moved her and complained.
Spencer and Élise watched Séraphine and Isaac with amusement just as their door opened. Dr. Patterson lowered the mask on her face, "I have some surprise visitors waiting for you two if you're up for it."
Spencer and Élise looked at each other; Élise shrugged her shoulders. "Okay."
Dr. Patterson looked back before she held the door. "They're ready."
Soon, Élise's family and Spencer's parents swoon in, either with bright and exciting smiles on their faces or carrying balloons and gift bags.
"Hey, Lise…" Ms. Geneva minced her daughter's side and embraced her. "How are you feeling?"
Élise braced her head back against her pillow. "I'm sooo bloody exhausted, ma…but at the same time, it was sooo worth it."
"You wanna hold our little girl?" Spencer asked; his parents-in-law's hands went up first. Coaxing the baby from Élise's hands, he gently placed the newborn in their arms.
"Let us see this girl…look at this little girl." Ms. Geneva and Mr. Micha started gushing over their newest granddaughter.
"Have you two decided on a name?" asked William, itching to hold his granddaughter.
"We did, yeah," Spencer answered.
Élise revealed, "Her name is Éliana Laëtitia."
"Oooh! I love it..." Diana beamed with enthusiasm.
"And we do, too." Spencer smiled before he kissed her face.
A/N: I hope you enjoyed the chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it, despite some serious writer's block every now and then. I hope you like the baby girl's name.
