'Knock, knock'
"Come in!" A voice from behind the door replied.
Entering was the leader of the squad of shinobis from before, as he entered he shut the door and stood at attention before speaking.
"Sir Hokage, we found some hidden cloud children on the battlefield with nowhere to go. We decided to take them here, and before you ask they were all too scared to move so they can't be spies planning to infiltrate the village."
"I see, where are these children now?" The Hokage, Hiruzen had a pipe in his mouth and was busy looking at some documents, asked his question and gestured for the man to stand at ease.
"They are at the gate awaiting entry alongside some captured wagons and the rest of my team sir."
"Good job Karasu, you did well. I'll visit the kids soon and invite the heads of all the clans but for now find them some lodgings, we still have a war to fight."
"Yes Hokage, does that mean we can let them into the village?"
"Yes, we will find homes for them amongst the clans." He looked up from his pile of paperwork and answered his question.
"Understood, I'll send word to the gates immediately." Karasu got up and left after paying his respects and headed straight back to the gates to rendezvous with his squad.
Inside a basic grey room, Andrew met his new home for the foreseeable future. It had all the basic necessities anyone would hope for, beds, a communal kitchen to be shared amongst the children and a bathroom. There was nothing for entertainment and a few windows spread out across the large dull room letting in natural light. It wasn't great but it was livable. The children from the hidden cloud village cautiously entered the room with Andrew being up front. Everyone was unsure what to make of their new living quarters but after adjusting the room became lively with children picking their beds and playing games with each other. Andrew couldn't care less about playing games or where they were living, although he and the others were all of similar ages he found no joy in their company. Instead he decided to search for a place to train. As he left and closed the door behind him there were shinobi guarding the main entrance into the building. Andrew walked up to them only to be stopped.
"No one is allowed out, I hope you understand the precautions we have to take." The shinobi had a deep voice and towered over Andrew. Unlike his state on the battlefield his mind was clearer now. He realised he had no chance to win in a one on one fight, let alone fighting two adult Shinobi. Andrew simply nodded and turned to leave.
If I can't take the front door then I'll have to find a different exit.
He hadn't given up. He hid from patrols of chunin level shinobi and made his way out an open window. Once outside he saw the vastness of the Hidden leaf. All the colourful buildings and the great stone faces as the backdrop. It was a unique sight and Andrew couldn't help but stare until he was spotted.
"HEY YOU! WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP THERE!"
"Dammit, I've been spotted." Andrew Immediately made a run for it trying to get the shinobi off of his trail but it was to no effect. Jumping from building to building a chase was ensuing, catching the attention of the women and children that were left in the village.
Too many eyes here, if I get to the forest I might lose him.
Andrew kept his distance, eventually reaching the outskirts of the village. He made a jump trying to get over the walls covering the village.
"Where did he go? Shit I lost him." The shinobi chasing him gave up, losing sight of his target he left to get reinforcements.
'Phew' Breathing a sigh of relief Andrew climbed to the top of the wall. When he jumped he barely got over the wall and seeing how deep of a fall it was he hung on for dear life until the shinobi left.
"Now how do I get down?" Andrew hadn't thought that far ahead. He had trained his chakra control with his mother but he didn't test out if he could defy gravity and climb up walls simply by walking. He decided against taking the risk and searched for a way down heading towards the cliff faces.
Once he reached the cliffs he naturally climbed down reaching the outside of the village only to be met by police shinobi of the Uchiha clan.
"You're a cheeky rascal, giving our shinobi the slip like that."
"Hang on a minute⦠isn't he the one the clan is interested in?"
"We can't be biassed now, kid you're coming with us." There were 3 police shinobi in front of Andrew. He knew whatever he tried wouldn't work. Instead he became compliant and was being taken back to his temporary home.
Day after day Andrew attempted to sneak out learning the patterns of the patrols inside and out of the building. He didn't take any unnecessary risks as if he was caught again he may never have another chance to get out again. One day he found his opening and took it, sneaking out of the building and heading to the forest to train.
"All my hard work paid off!" Andrew was pleased with himself finally finding a place he could train in peace and quiet.
"Now first things first." Andrew had all his belongings confiscated when he entered the village but held onto his fathers katana. That was the one thing he refused to hand over to anyone. Unsheathing it he took practice swings followed by training his chaka control and trying to climb a tree. He made makeshift kunai to train his aim with and did exercise to train his body. When the sun began to set he snuck back into the village for dinner and some well deserved rest. He did this day after day, night after night. Always sneaking out to train without the guards realising.
One day when he snuck out of the village someone was waiting for him at his training spot.
Andrew unsheathed his weapon and raised it into a fighting stance. Whoever it was wouldn't hold back.
"Now, now put that down. No need for such aggression." Walking out of the shadows was the shinobi leader from the battlefield Karasu.
"So this is where you always sneaked off to. You really know how to give our shinobi guards the slip." Andrew sheathed his katana and decided to hear out the shinobi.
"The names Karasu, what's yours?"
"Andrew."
"Say how about we make a deal. I won't tell anyone about your secret training, Hell, I might even give you some pointers but in return in the future you join the Uchiha clan. Is that a deal?" Karasu gave a smirk knowing he had won Andrew had no choice but to agree if he was to continue training. Andrew gave a nod.
"Good, now then let's see what you can do." Karasu lunged towards Andrew with a metal kunai aiming for the kid's throat. Andrew just about blocked it with his sword before jumping back.
This will be a tough fight, can I even win? Andrew doubted his abilities. He wasn't strong enough to take down an adult yet let alone a Jonin. Andrew stayed on the defensive, keeping his distance from Karasu's advances.
"Come on, stop running away and fight me." Karasu taunted Andrew but was also getting bored. He had no choice if he wanted to keep his training a secret. If he didn't please Karasu he might be found out. Andrew charged with speed that most wouldn't be able to keep track of and attempted to slice Karasu on the side but he dodged.
"Now that's more like it." Karasu smirked, realising the fight just got interesting.
Andrew used his training and climbed a tree to gain a height advantage but Karasu appeared behind him, kunai to the throat.
"I win." He muttered before he grabbed the kid and jumped down releasing him on to the ground. Karasu gave Andrew some pointers and watched the rest of the training. As the sun began to set Andrew prepared to leave but was interrupted before he could sneak back.
"Next time, I'll show you a few vital jutsu and we'll fight again once you've mastered them. See you again tomorrow." Karasu gave a smile before disappearing in a moment. Was it a clone or was it the body flicker technique? Either way Andrew couldn't sleep that night thinking about what it is he might be taught?
