Werewolf: I ended the chapter with the start of the second original chapter and a nod to cannon with how Rias introduced herself to Issei lol. That's because I have plans for Freya.
Some1call4MR-E: Yeah. Here we go again.
Chapter 2
Asgard
Azazel was a master of his emotions by the calm expression on his face but inside his mind it still tried to process the news about Thor dying and being alive. This feeling was shared by the others within the room; Odin especially who paced back and forth trying to figure out how this could be.
"How could your son still be alive?" Azazel asked, the old king.
"For a God of Knowledge I am stumped by this mystery." Said Odin as he sat upon his throne pondering this mystery thoroughly.
"What about that guy with the well? What was his name? Mimir! You think he might have the answers?" Azazel asked.
Odin glanced at the Fallen Angel, Mimir was the smartest man alive after all and would surely have an answer to this mystery. However, Odin did not give his eye or hang himself from the branch of Yggdrasil for nothing. He did it for knowledge and he would use that knowledge to figure this out himself.
"What I want to know," Freyr said, glaring at Azazel, "Is why he was found in a building occupied by your enemies."
Azazel put his palms up, "I didn't know about this. I swear I have been busy tinkering with Sacred Gears and dealing with rogue Fallen Angels. Not to mention the last spy I sent into Church territory was discovered.
"If you say so." Said the brother of Freya unconvinced, "Anyway. Since you came here for an alliance, I am saying right now that no strip bars will be built with this alliance. This is an alliance of peace not for erotic ideas you fools can do on Midgard."
Odin rolled his eye at the Lord of Alfheim. "Come on Freyr, lighten up. Asgard needs a place for those to release their sexual desires. Besides, the female Fallen Angels are known for their seductive ways and luscious bodies."
Freyr growled in disgust at the Allfather's perverted grin spreading across his face, "I will never understand how my sister came to fall in love with you. Your lewd antics are just as bad as the humans."
"It obviously wasn't for my incredible skills in bed."
"Anyway!" The blue haired God said over Azazel's laughter, "That's a stupid decision and part of the reason why we are so weak now. Because you waste your time and money going to the strip bars on Midgard. We set those up in Asgard and have them run by the Fallen Angels then what little remains of our money will go to them! We've only managed to survive into the modern era thanks to the Dwarves and Elves owing favors to your father! Yet even thoughts have done little before the alliances broke."
"Now Freyr, there's no need to get angry. If you are that concerned, then those sexually pent up folks from Asgard can come to Grigori to enjoy our stripers for free of charge or, to help with your money issue, fifty percent of what is made at those clubs will go to Asgard's coffers." Azazel reassured, trying to calm the Vanir who grumbled with a nod of approval, "Great! That's a start with business! Now how about-"
Just then a magic circle appeared in the air and the voice of Rossweisse came through, "Excuse me for interrupting but I want to tell you our guest is starting to wake up."
"Thank you my dear. Will be there shortly." Replied Odin who rose to his feet after the magic seal vanished, "Freyr. Azazel. Let us greet my son."
Meanwhile a few ew minutes earlier
The boy stared in shock and awe at the silver haired girl who continued to smile at him. Her name was Rossweisse and she was a Valkyrie. A Valkyrie! A warrior maiden who shepherds fallen warriors to Valhalla. He tried to sit up but Rossweisse gently pushed him back down.
"Please lay down. You're still recovering." She said in a soft tone, "We were lucky to get you to the Freya Hospital when we did. A minute longer and you'd be dead."
A chill ran down the red-heads spine, she said he wouldn't have lasted a minute longer? Realizing he had been that close to death prompted him to say, "Were there any other survivors?"
Rossweisse shook her head, "There was nobody but you."
Thor's fists released the blanket he was unconsciously clenching, "Good."
Rossweisse frowned, he was happy to know he was the only survivor? Just then there was a knock on the door and three figures entered the room,
Was all he said before saying in a more surprised tone, "Wait a minute. You said this place was called the Freya Hospital! Does that mean that I am…in…"
"That's right, my boy. You are in Asgard." The new voice caused the red head's gaze to shift to see three men enter the room.
The first, he seemed to be the youngest of them, looked to be around in his twenties, with an average build, violet colored eyes that held a curious yet lazy look in them. His beard and hair was black except for the bangs being gold. He was dressed in a maroon long-coat with a wide, open high-collar that opened up at the hem covered in many black belts, gray slacks, and brown shoes.
The other man was taller and older, the tallest of the group in fact, and he had the look of a warrior about him by the glistening silver armor covering his green tunic and brown pants. His blue hair was pulled back into a long braid to give his green eyes a clear view for any signs of trouble which he was keeping a lookout for right now.
The one who spoke was between the two younger men, he was the shortest and oldest by his white hair and very long beard. His white robes were blue around the shoulders with gold lining decorating the collar, sleeves, and front going all the way down to the bottom. Upon his head was a decorated golden and black hat which was either for fashion or statue. His right eye was the same blue as his own but the left eye was covered by a chainless gold and white monocle. That last man with the missing eye seemed vaguely familiar but...who was he?
Who are all these people?
"Good to see you're awake, boy." The one-eyed man said as he took a good hard look at the red head, "You have questions and so do we. Questions that will be answered. Let's start this with names." The one-eyed man drew himself to his full height as an aura rolled off him. It was strong, wise, and almost fatherly. "I am Odin! King of Asgard!"
The boy named Thor felt as if he had just been paralyzed. The chief-god of Europe! The leader of the Aesir. One-Eyed Odin. The Alfather!
"Alfather Odin...ruler of the Aesir." He couldn't help saying before falling back onto his pillow, unaware he had sat up when they entered. His heart was racing a thousand miles an hour.
"Now don't go back to sleep, you still have more people to meet." Odin chuckled while stepping aside to introduce the Fallen Angels. "These two young lads are Azazel, Governor-General of Grigori and Freyr, Vanir God of Sacral Kingship, Governor of Alfheim, and my right hand man."
The two young men shook Thor's hand with Azazel commenting, "Oof! That's quite a powerful grip you got there, bucko! A little tighter and you may break all the bones in my hand! Hahaha!"
"And you have already met Rossweisse, the Allfather's Valkyrie bodyguard." Freyr added, gesturing to the silver-haired girl.
"Thank you for saving me." The boy said, gaining a smile from the Allfather, "I truly thought I was a goner."
"Not when Heimdall is on the watch." Freyr said, "It is he you should thank when you see him. But enough about us, we would like to know more about you, Thor. That is your name isn't it?"
"Thor." Muttered the boy to himself as if thinking long and hard about something he had forgotten long ago. Rossweisse called him Thor and so did Freyr. Thor…Thor…then recognition came into his eyes, "Yes, that is my name. I am Thor."
He may have imagined it but he could have sworn he saw the Allfather's eye widened for a brief second.
"Well Thor," Said Odin, "Care to tell us what exactly happened back on Midgard? We found you buried in the ruins of a collapsed building wearing priest garments with a thunderstorm raging about."
The recognition turned to anger as his fists clenched the bedsheets once again at the question. Then it faded as confusion gave way to rage, "I…I don't remember."
"You don't remember?" Repeated Azazel while glancing at Odin's bodyguard, "You were found wearing clothing of a priest. Were you perhaps affiliated with the Church?"
Affiliated with the Church? In the seconds after the question was asked something deep within Thor's consciousness slithered to the surface. He was running down a hallway toward a pair of doors while Exorcist chased him. His confusion turned to rage once more as he said with fury filled eyes directed toward Azazel, "I was not affiliated with them! I was their test subject! Their greatest weapon to use against evil!"
"I guess the Church doesn't learn from their mistakes." The Governor-General sighed with a shake of the head.
"No they do not." Freyr agreed with a scowl before saying to Thor, "Well you don't have to worry about that anymore. You are with your family again."
"Family?" Repeated Thor.
"Of course!" Boomed Odin, "Come my boy. Surely you must recognize your father and uncle!"
Thor shifted at the words, "I…do not."
"Well you will in time, my boy!" Said Odin shaking Thor's shoulder encouragingly, "After all this is your first day among the Aesir and you just awoke in Asgard. But tell me…do you know anything else?"
"No. Why do you ask?"
Odin exchanged looks between Rossweisse and Freyr before saying in a heavy tone, "Because your return should be impossible."
"W-why?" Stuttered Thor.
"Because, your grace, you should be dead." Answered Rossweisse, seeing Odin was unable to say the words. Powerful and wise as he was, even the Allfather still had trouble saying his son died.
Thor felt as if he had just been dropped into ice cold water by the Valkyries words. He, Thor - a God - Son of Odin, Prince of Asgard, had died? This should have been a great surprise and yet... he had a feeling as if he already knew this subconsciously. That he had somehow always known. If so then why be surprised by such news? The shock had to be from the fact that Thor, who was said to be the strongest Aesir, died.
Rossweisse nodded when seeing the boy's shocked expression, "Yes. Thor, the God of Thunder, is dead. Died saving Asgard from Surtr. Now centuries later you show up with his name and powers. That is why we are so surprised by your return."
"Oh." Was all Thor could say, stupefied by her words. Collecting himself he asked, "H-how long have I been in Asgard?"
"Four days and three nights." Freyr answered.
"Two days!?" Thor exclaimed at how long he slept.
The Vanir God nodded, "That is to be expected with the condition we found you in. You were covered in wounds and lost a lot of blood. Plus you were buried beneath a building. We were worried if you would ever wake up."
"You're really lucky, Thor. Not only did Asgard save you from death. They also saved you from a possible life in servitude with Devils." Azazel added.
"So you too sensed the demonic power approaching too." Rossweisse said in a serious tone.
"I did but even if the Devil's had arrived before us it would have been useless to reincarnate him as a Devil. Their Evil Pieces do not work on Gods afterall." Odin said.
"Wait…" Said Thor suddenly, "Did you say I was buried beneath a building?"
Rossweisse looked confused at his question, "Yes. Didn't you dig yourself out? We saw your fist punch through concrete."
"I...think so. My memory is still a bit hazy from that time. I honestly don't recall anything. Only that I was in a building owned by the Church and used as their test subject."
"Well whatever happened, when we arrived there was nothing left standing. It was almost as if we had just stepped onto the remains of a battlefield. And you said to yourself that we didn't find anything else."
"The whole building...gone? H-how?"
"We were hoping you would have the answers but that is ok. If you recall anything, come tell me or Rossweisse right away." Odin instructed. If the boy's memory of his time with the Church returned bit by bit then the mystery of this new Thor could be solved.
Thor nodded before shifting his glaze to Azazel, "I forgot to ask. Why exactly are you here? What is your purpose in Asgard?"
"Purpose? Azazel chuckled humorously, "Why to spread peace and love."
"What Azazel means," Said Odin, "is that he has come to Asgard to join forces in an alliance. We have made this alliance not to wage war with his enemies but to promote something that nobody, not even humans can seem to achieve...peace. Despite what others may say, we want to prove we can all live in peace."
Thor looked between the two leaders in wonder. Coexistence between all Factions? Can such a thing ever come true? Each race hated one another for some petty reason. He had good reasons to hate the Church for the way they treated him.
All he could do was wait and see if Odin's goal was achievable.
"Anything else you'd like to know or shall I show you around your new home? After you are fully recovered? Odin said with a grin.
Thor laid back upon the bed and said with a sigh, "I think I will lay here for a little longer."
"Then I shall come by when you are fully recovered!" Odin said, clapping Thor on the shoulder.
"Goodbye for now, your grace. I hope to see you again soon." Said Rossweisse with a bow to Thor before following Odin out.
"Goodbye, Rossweisse." Thor whispered.
Outside the hospital Rossweisse said, "Allfather, this can't be a conquincidence. Could he be Thor reborn? Could the Norns have given the God of Thunder a second chance to live? Did that explain the familiar power Heimdall felt on Midgard? Is he really the God of Thunder reincarnated?
"And what about the rest of Asgard? We were lucky to get him to the Freya Hospital without anybody noticing. Eventually the kingdom will know of Thor's return." Added Freyr.
Odin was silent for a while before saying with a shrug, Your guess is as good as mine, Ms. Rossweisse. In time we may find the answers we seek. As for the people, let them know. If they see the God of Thunder it will bring them hope."
That night
It was eleven o'clock at night and Nurse Emma was making her rounds through the sixth floor checking on patients. As usual it was quiet which was why she liked the night shift. No doctors and nurses shouting orders, no patients being rushed to the emergency room, and no crying children. It always broke her heart when hearing a child cry, she couldn't handle it.
As she rounded the corner she saw a flash of blue under the door of room sixty-six followed by a muffled cry. Emma tilted her head, what was going on in room sixty-six? She had heard a new patient now occupied it but was given no name of who it was.
Partly curious and partly wanting to see if the patient was ok she moved toward the door and was about to open it when bolts of lightning pierced the door and wall around it startling the young nurse out of her wits. She was no warrior and at the age of forty-eight, but all Asgardians, civilians and warriors, young and old, have the courage to face anything. She did just that by grabbing the doorknob and pulling it open to see a handsome red haired man tossing and turning with bolts of lightning shooting out of him while whimpering like a child getting a shot.
Hastily Emma rushed forward dodging the lightning as best she could and shook the boy rough while shouting for him to wake up. Thrice Emma tried and when nothing happened she slapped the patient as hard as her tiny hands could across the face. Protocol said no patient is to be slapped but this was an emergency and hopefully she would not get fired for it.
Luckily her action caused a reaction; the lighting stopped at once like a switch turning off the power and eyes as blue as the electric element snapped open to stare at her brown ones. If she was younger she would have found him very attractive but she was old now with grandchildren. The strange thing was this boy looked awfully familiar but couldn't quite remember were she had seen his face.
"Huh? What? Who are you?" He asked.
"Nurse Emma." She answered, "and you looked to be having a bad dream. Although I've never seen anyone shoot lightning from their body while dreaming."
The red haired boy figited at the nurse's words.
"That does indeed seem strange."
Emma and the boy jumped at the voice and found Odin standing at the doorway.
"Allfather!" Emma bowed.
"Heimdall saw what you did just now and told me. Your actions of saving Thor will be rewarded handsomely. However," He added as the nurse gaped in awe at the boy, "You are to tell no one of what has happened tonight. He will be discharged tomorrow morning and taken to the palace by me."
"Yes, Allfather. Your word is law. Goodnight my lords." With that the nurse hurried off to fill the report and prayed she would keep her mouth silent about tonight.
The next morning
The Allfather arrived at Thor's room with Rossweisse to take him to the palace. As they walked the halls the few people awake stopped and stared at the red haired boy. Some of the older people looked as if they had seen a ghost. They bowed to the king and upon noticing Thor began whispering among themselves.
"Who's that red haired boy?" Said child to her father who squinted at Thor to get a better look.
"I don't know, sweetie. However, he looks like Thor but Thor is dead."
"That guy looks like the God of Thunder." Said an old doctor to his friends, "In fact, he sorta looks like him when he was a boy."
"Word will spread." Rossweisse whispered in Odin's ear.
"Let it. I want Asgard to feel hope again." Odin answered, leading the young man and Valkyrie out of the hospital to many confused people.
The parking lot was a mix of cars and carriages. Odin led Thor toward the biggest carriage were a large gray horse was hitched up to it, a large gray horse with eight legs. Once more Thor was left in wonder as he gazed upon the fastest animal in all the Nine Realms.
"Sleipnir." He whispered approaching the horse.
"I wouldn't get near him, your grace." Said a voice from above, "He just ate and doesn't like to be touched."
Looking up, Thor saw another girl situated in the driver's seat holding Slepnir's reins. She was older than him by thirty years but still retained much of her beauty by her slender frame shown by the blue dress she wore. Two long pigtails of red hair a darker shade of his own hung on each side of the woman. Her deep green eyes showed friendliness and years of wisdom.
"Hello there, who are you?" Thor asked.
"I am Hlin. Retainer of Lady Freya and driver of the Allfather's carriage. A pleasure to meet you once more, Lord Thor. Climb aboard and will be off to the palace."
Thor did and soon the carriage was in motion going at a steady pace along the cobblestone road that soon turned into a street. As Thor looked out the large windows he could see many modern day buildings like skyscrapers reaching up towards the sky like fingers or small stores square shaped with flat tops or pointed rooftops like a house. He could make out theaters, bars, restaurants, parks, and skating rinks. Some of the names he saw, like the Alfheim Nail and Spa Salon and the Serpent's Cider, made him chuckle with amusement. He could even see other carriages and, to his great surprise, cars pass by and many people of all different shapes and sizes walking the streets with some wearing robes like Odin but most wore modern clothing like Rossweisse.
Suddenly he felt the carriage stop, cursing to see why he looked out the window to see they were at a traffic light waiting for it to turn green. Seeing cars and carriages share the road meant Asgard liked to still hold into old traditions. As he looked about he saw people stop and bow to the king and upon noticing Thor begin whispering among themselves.
"Hey, look at that red haired boy in the Allfather's carriage daddy!." A child said pointing at Thor.
"He's cute." Giggled a girl to her friends.
"He looks like Thor." An elderly man said.
"You never saw Thor." His friend argued.
"I didn't but my great-great grandfather did and he has a picture of the prince when he was a boy."
"Are you serious!?"
"I am!"
The light turned green and off the carriage went leaving many civilians bewildered and gossiping. Odin knew word would spread about the red-head but how they would take the news was unknown. He only hoped they would accept him.
"I've noticed Asgard looks exactly like a city on Earth but still retains some elements of medieval architecture." He was correct in his statement, despite all the modern buildings there were still some made of stone or wood.
"Did you think the Supernatural world is stuck in one century? We all started adopting modern looks and techniques to try and keep ourselves relevant in the modern world." Odin answered as the carriage entered the highway. "Hence the cars, TV's, glass buildings."
And yet you all still use primitive weapons… Thor said to himself.
Every Faction, save the humans of the Church, used either a melee weapon or magic in combat. Only some of the Exorcists used firearms. But the sword and Sacred Gears were preferred over the gun and Supernatural beings had spell casting as their firearm. Sure you could see a spell coming, but unless you were properly trained to fight against the supernatural world, you would get obliterated by it.
Thor asked another question, "Hlin said we are going to the palace and isn't she one of Frigg's servants?"
"Yes to both questions, my boy. However-" He was cut off by a loud crowing sound and soon two ravens flew through the windows landing on each side of Thor.
"It's Huginn and Muninn!" Cried Thor making Odin grin.
"Welcome back you two. What word do my lovely informants bring?"
Lovely informants?
Thor's silent question was answered when the ravens suddenly vanished in a bright light to be replaced by two attractive women with breasts so big they looked ready to spill out of their violet strapless dresses at the slightest movement. Both had gray eyes, a tattoo of three triangles interlocked on the back of the opposite hand, another tattoo of a raven on both shoulders, and black. The girl on the right had a triple crown braid with the rest tied into four long braids, two in the front and two in the back, ending just above her waist while the girl on the left had a single long braid reaching to the middle of her back.
"Your girls!?" Thor gasped, causing them to stare blankly at him.
"Who are you?" Said the one on the left.
"That, my dear Huginn," Said Odin, "Is my son."
Huginn and Munin looked at the boy again, their gray eyes filled with shock and hope. As one then leant forward and hugged Thor like a long lost sibling, tears welling in their eyes. Their action caused the young man to be smothered between their large breasts making his face turn redder than his hair. What little he could see was Odin laughing and Rossweisse fidgeting uncomfortably.
"I knew you'd come back, your grace." Muninn whispered.
"Welcome back, your grace. Welcome back!" Huginn said with tears in her eyes.
At last Thor was freed from the hug allowing him to breathe and say while still blushing, "A…a pleasure to meet you both."
"A very great pleasure indeed." Odin said with a grin, "Meet Huginn, and Muninn. My servants and gatherers of information."
"But who is who?" Asked Thor as he looked between the women who giggled at his question.
"I am Huginn." The single braid girl answered.
"And I am Muninn." The girl with the crown braid answered.
"Huginn and Munin." Repeated Thor pointing to each who nodded in answer, "You said you have information?"
"And much isn't good." Huginn said.
"Speak." Odin gestured to Munnin first.
"The Devils and Heaven have learned about Grigori's alliance with Asgard and are fearing we will attack them. Some of the Devil nobles are saying they must strike first before we ready our forces but Lucifer is trying to talk them out of it." She reported like a soldier scouting out a battlefield,
"More political infighting." Sighed Rossweisse, "Even after their civil war to install a better government they still fight one another."
"It can't be helped." Said Odin, "They can squabble all they want but Lucifer and his fellow Satan's will set things straight eventually. What about you Huginn? What news do you bring me?"
"A group of Giants is on the march to attack a city in Midgard." Huginn said.
Odin sighed and waved a hand, "Send whoever is available to stop them. What else?"
"You are having trouble with Jotunn's?" Thor asked.
"We have always had trouble since they are our sworn enemy. They cause trouble everywhere they go and it is up to us to stop them and other monsters. There are some Giants who call us friends but they are few in numbers and only one clan is our ally in Jotunheim." Rossweisse explained, "Once they had a vast empire but I'm certain you will learn about that in history class."
"History class?" Repeated Thor.
"That will be explained later." Odin replied before addressing his servants, "Good work, Huginn, Muninn, get some rest."
"Thank you, Allfather." The girls said at one, then they said goodbye to Thor, luckily they didn't smother him with a breast hug, transformed into ravens, and flew away.
As Thor watched the ravens disappear into the distance he noticed many large stone statues of the Norse Pantheon's Gods and Goddess scattered throughout Asgard. He didn't know which God was which save for the God he was named after, who also had the most statues erected for him, Thor. The original Thunder God was standing proudly with his mouth opened wide in a battle cry with his mighty hammer Mjolnir raised high above. The details put into each statue was incredible and made Thor wish he could look at them all day.
After climbing a great hill the carriage came to a halt signaling they had arrived at the palace. A palace that left Thor's mouth hanging open when he looked upon it. Two turrets flanked either side of the main building which looked like a modern palace with six levels to it by the windows visible to it. Thor had half expected a gigantic viking hall with layers on it but even Gods advanced in technology to interingle with the humans. This modernization, however, was still wonderful to look upon.
"Welcome to Hlidskjalf." Hlin announced atop the carriage, "From the bedrooms in the top floors you shall get the most incredible views in all of Asgard."
"Be sure Slepenir gets his usual brushing." Rossweisse called to the Goddess as she drove the carriage back to the stables.
"Hlidskjalf has gone through many changes through the centuries but it is still magnificent to look upon." Odin said while leading the way into the palace.
They entered the building and Thor couldn't help looking all around in amazement walking the massive halls. Any area that had wood like stair railings or support beams had symbols etched into them while paintings depicting great battles or landscapes hung upon the walls. Each guard they passed stood at attention when seeing the Allfather, there armor was a dazzling silver, like Rossweisse's hair. After ascending a flight of stairs and rounding a corner they stepped through another set of massive doors leading into a room big enough to fit three blue whales. Unlike the hallways, there were no pillars in this room, nor paintings upon the wall but simply a short flight of stairs leading to two large wooden thorns with a massive tree with roots spreading everywhere planted behind them.
Thor gasped, "That can't be the real Yggdrasil can it?"
"Not the real one. An artificial one creation for decoration. The real one lives within the realm between realms." Odin answered while walking past a side door, "Come we are nearly there."
"Wait a minute! Where is the Queen of Asgard? Where is Frigg?" A bewildered Thor asked as he looked all around for the wife of Odin. Surely she would wish to meet him as well. His question, however, was met with a dead silence, "Where is-"
"Come!" Called Odin gruffly as he pushed open the door, a shadow falling upon his face, "We are nearly there!"
Thor looked to Rossweisse but she gave no answer to his question. A sense of dread filled the young red head, had the queen of Asgard fallen ill or worse, was dead? He prayed it was not the latter of the dreadful thoughts. The Alfather led Thor and his bodyguard through the door down a flight of stars, through a narrow hallway until they reached a set of enormous doors with the Norse symbol upon it. Odin tapped on the door with his cane causing the runes to glow blue and the doors to slide open to reveal an even bigger room stocked to the brim with weapons and artifacts of all shapes and sizes.
"This," Said Odin, stepping inside and waving his hand, "Is my treasure vault! Here is were I store all that is important to Asgard."
Thor wished he had a million eyes at this moment, everywhere he looked he saw something interesting; armor made of steel or leather, some having fur incorporated into them and some having helmets with or without horns, sat on manikins standing within great chariots of different colors while thousands of weapons and shields lined the walls. Weapons and armor weren't the only things here, on pedestals sat jars and boxes with the Norse symbol, what they held within them was a mystery to him, horns with intricate symbols, and jewelry, some having stones, twinkled in the room's light. There were even goblets and, unlike the necklaces and horns, had both gems and Norse symbols upon them.
This place is amazing! He thought looking all about and unaware of the smile Rossweisse was giving him.
"Here it is!"
Returning his gaze back to Odin he saw the old God was staring at a giant pedestal or rather what was on it and that was a hammer, a giant dangerous looking hammer. Its outer frame was black with a blue structure throughout its entire design from the head to the handle with the Norse symbol in the middle piece. Yet again Thor's jaw hung open, this was the very weapon made for the God of Thunder, the superweapon that had killed thousands if not millions of Giants.
Mjolnir!
But isn't it supposed to be smaller? He thought while stepping closer to get a better view of the weapon. He remembered. Mjolnir, the legendary war-hammer for Thor wasn't complemented. The handle was built too short. But here this one, it was longer and larger than imagined. Of course it was possible that in all this time someone had simply completed the handle.
"Is this really Mjolnir?"
"It is a replica." Odin answered, "Forged by the same material as the original and imbued with the same power. This replica is what the original would have looked like if that construction mistake had not happened. As for the real Mjolnir, it was destroyed when Thor, when you, died."
Thor nodded slowly in understanding, so this is what the original would have looked like huh. So Thor had wanted a hammer as big as him. A weapon that big would obliterate everything it made contact with. Possibly even destroy the world.
"So...what now?" He asked.
"Take it. Become the God of Thunder."
Thor looked at Odin in shock who smiled at him. He was being given Mjolnir...the God of Thunder's war hammer!
Thor looked back to Mjolnir then Freya and then to Odin and back to the hammer.
"Allfather, are you sure about this? He only just awoke yesterday." Rossweisse asked.
But Odin waved a casual hand, "You're such a worrywart sometimes. It's no wonder you don't have a boyfriend."
No boyfriend? How could someone as pretty as her be single? The shock of seeing one so beautiful be without a boyfriend turned to worry then anger as he watched Rossweisse stiffen and try to stop tears forming in her eyes. Rushing forward he wiped the few tears away with his thumb and whispered, "Don't let him get to you. I'm sure someone will be your boyfriend."
Red streaked across the Valkyrie's face at his words, nobody ever said that to her and to hear it from the God of Thunder himself made her heart flutter.
"Thank you." She whispered before collecting herself, "Go on and take Mjolnir."
Nodding Thor stepped toward the hammer and stretched his hand out. As soon as he grasped the handle a jolt of electricity zapped him forcing the boy to pull away from the godly weapon. He looked back at Rossweisse in shock and confusion then back to the hammer. Hoping for answers he directed his gaze to Odin only to see the king of Asgard trying to stifle a laugh by the look on his face while Rossweisse scowled at him.
"Lord Odin, that was not funny!" The Valkyrie scolded but Odin ignored his bodyguard's words and laughed as if the funniest joke had been told to him. Sighing, the silver haired maiden addressed Odin's son, "I'm sorry, your grace. The Allfather does like to make jokes from time to time. I feared this would happen as did Lord Odin, but he neglected to say since he thought this was funny."
"Is it because I'm not worthy?" Thor asked, also looking at Mjolnir.
"No. Both the real and replica Mjolnir have never needed worthiness to wield it. What you need is a powerful magic reserve to control it but by the looks of it you unfortunately don't have. If you are to wield Mjolnir you must control your magic. Control the power of thunder and lightning."
"And that's the reason why Rossweisse is going to train you."
Rossweisse jumped to her feet, eyes wide with surprise at the Allfather's words as she stammered, "B-b-but Lord Odin, my duty—"
"Is still being upheld. Besides, I am more than capable of protecting myself. You are just being assigned a new duty by being my bodyguard by training Thor how to hone his skills in magic."
Rossweisse looked between the King and his son. She was a woman who always followed orders and never questioned them. If this was to be what she does then so be it.
"So what am I gonna do about a weapon since I can't use Mjolnir?" Thor asked, looking around for a weapon suitable for him.
"I know what can suit you until you are strong enough to wield Mjolnir." Odin answered, then he moved to a wall filled with weapons and took a two handed axe and dagger. The handle of the axe had a slight curve to it while the axe head and dagger blade featured artistic engravings on them, "This is Jarnbjorn and Jarnsaxa, both axe and dagger were used by you before the forging of Mjolnir by Dwarves. Will these weapons be worthy of your skill?"
Thor stared at the axe and dagger before nodding to the king's words, these weapons were worthy for the new God of Thunder until he was able to use the hammer. As he accepted them another weapon caught his eye and it was of unimaginable beauty. Secured in a glass case surrounded by many seals was a broken sword, its thick single-edged broken-back blade looked to be see-through meaning it must have been made of pure glass while white pearls embedded into the hilt twinkled in the light.
"Ah. I see you have spotted, Hrotti. That sword was found within Fafnir's horde by the Original Siegfried after he slew the dragon."
"Siegfried." Whispered Thor as if he was trying to recall the name.
"Yes, Siegfried." Odin said, "Before being turned into a dragon, Fafnir's greatest creation was that sword. Besides having the ability to absorb magic and send it back to the caster it also has the power to open portals and allow the wielder to teleport wherever they wish to go, which is how Fafnir obtained his treasure horde. He would steal treasure around the world until making the fatal mistake of taking one of Tiamat's treasure. Do you know about her?"
"Yes. She is a blue Dragon dubbed the Chaos Karma Dragon and the only female of the Five Great Dragon Kings."
"I see the Church gave you a good education at least." Odin said, "Well, when she caught him stealing her treasure, karma befell Fafnir and he was turned into a Dragon by a powerful wizard. However, Fafnir saw this as a blessing which allowed him to reap bigger treasures. He stole and murdered all around the Nine Realms making him feared and fifth Dragon King. A title Tiamat is still angry about till this day. Anyway, you know the rest of what befell the Golden Dragon Thief."
"He was killed by Siegfried." Answered Thor.
"Right you are. Fafnir was killed and Hrotti came into his possession."
"How did you come by this sword if it was in Siegfried's possession and how did it break?"
"The first question is a rather funny way." Odin said with a chuckle, "This had happened centuries ago. After Fafnir was revived, yes we revived him, Siegfried's last living ancestor chose to return the sword to Fafnir as a means of apology. By that time however, the Gigantis Dragon had chosen to make a contract with Azazel to aid him in his Sacred Gear research by allowing himself to be sealed inside one of his Artificial Sacred Gears."
"Artificial Sacred Gears?" Repeated Thor.
"Artificial Sacred Gears." Said Odin, "But that, however, is a topic to talk about with Azazel since he is the creator of such objects. Anyway, you want to know how Hrotti broke?" He paused as a shadow fell upon his face, "When the last ancestor of Siegfried died, Hrotti fell into the hands of the Church. Your brother, Baldur, went to retrieve it and succeeded but those fools, after experimenting on Hrotti, thought they could cut the uncuttable God. Hence the state you see it in now."
Thor sighed, the Church once more meddling with Pagan powers to give themselves an edge over their enemies, "So why haven't you renewed it? Surely the Gods or Dwarves can do such a thing."
"Oh we can but the time is not right."
"Not right? Why?"
"Seers all across Jotunheim, Vanaheim, and Midgard say the same thing." Said Rossweisse, "'Renewed shall the Dragon Slayers blade be when Hell is split asunder.' What it means nobody, not even Odin, can understand."
"Nevertheless, I shall take that prophecy to heart and wait for the Underworld to be split asunder before the blade is reforged." Declared Odin, "So, Thor, are you ready to learn how to be a proper God?" Odin.
Excitement flooded Thor at the King's words, he didn't know how long it would take to lift Mjolnir but the quicker he grew in strength the closer he could get to wielding its power!
"Heh! That face says you are! Then tomorrow you shall be enrolled into school."
Thor's jaw slackened, "School?"
"Yes, your grace, school." Said Rossweisse, "You must understand our culture and the other Realms from our point of view. Not the humans. Besides, focusing all your efforts on combat and magic doesn't make a warrior great. A smart mind and good education are great help as well. Every Monday to Friday you will attend our greatest school."
"And assist Grigori when they require it." Odin put in making the two teens stare at him, "When word reached Azazel's Faction of the alliance being formed for the purpose of peace, multiple Fallen Angel's broke away to form their own groups and cause trouble. We've managed to stop some but there are just too many going rogue. If this keeps up, Azazel fears the Fallen Angel race may go extinct sooner than he expected."
"And how is that our problem?" Thor asked heatedly.
"As I said to your uncle, boy, allies help one another no matter the problem. If Grigori needs your aid specifically you will aid them."
"Me?" The redhead said with great surprise. He just escaped the Church and joined the ranks of Asgard. Now he was being said to join Grigori to stop their rogue Angel issue?
"Yes, you. You are the God of Thunder after all, your name alone will make them drop to their knees and beg forgiveness. Plus anyone who takes these missions will be given a handsome reward. Like money or a strip tease or a good fucking."
Thor recoiled in shock at the Allfather's words and expression. He wanted to say something but was swiftly dragged from the room by Rossweisse who had a very sour expression. An understandable bad mood for even Thor felt a mild annoyance at the Allfather's action, wasn't he supposed to be wise and cunning not teasing and lewd?
She led him back through the throne room, back through the hallways, down a flight of stars, toward a large corridor to a door that she opened to reveal a very extravagant bedroom with a bed to fit two horses. A walk-in closet with dress and casual clothes from the Viking age to modern times. The bathroom held both a tub and shower big enough to fit two people and stocked with supplies.
"This is your room for Hlidskjalf." She explained, leading him to the balcony were her sour mood changed to happiness at the God of Thunder's expression.
Hlin was right, Hlidskjalf gave him a view of all of Asgard. Every building, park, and statue was visible. He could even see the wall that protected Asgard from threats and beyond that were rolling grasslands and great mountains barely visible on horizon.
"Asgard is very beautiful."
"The upper part is at least." Rossweisse said sadly, "The lower parts, on the other hand, are a mess and need repair but the alliances we had with the Dwarves and other realms are fractured. Only Vanaheim still sees us as friends. Asgard has fallen into an economic crisis and hope the Fallen Angels can do something to help get us out of it."
Thor said nothing at those words. Fallen Gods, broken friendships, and an economic crisis? The Norse Faction was not what he thought it would be. How could the Fallen Angels do anything when their own people were leaving Grigori?
"What happened?" When she said nothing he said, "I am it's prince aren't I? I should know what happened."
"And you will," Rossweisse reassured, "But I do not wish to overwhelm you with too much information. In time you'll know more. Now, let's take you to school."
Later
Thor was led to a garage were hundreds of cars and carriages were stored. Instead of another carriage ride, the Valkyrie took him to an orange convertable she drove flawlessly on the road.
As the Valkyrie drove Thor mused over what he learned since awakening in Asgard; he, Thor, had died and now was back, he couldn't use Mjolnir yet, Odin… Odin had a moment of lewdness making him uncomfortable, he didn't know what happened to Frigg or Asgard, and now he was going to be enrolled into school. He was going to be given a proper education by God's instead of humans following Heaven. At least they wouldn't treat him like a tool to be used against the Angels enemies.
Rossweisse drove up a small hill, passed some suburbs, over a bridge, and another bigger hill that upon cresting pulled up to an enormous building. It looked like a mix between a hall and a castle and seemed to be about four stories high by the rows of windows on each level. There were other buildings surrounding the large one but these were three to two stories high.
A statue of Odin and two other men flanking each side of the Allfather stood tall upon a large fountain in front of the building surrounded by a garden.
"Welcome," Said Rossweisse, "to Valhalla Academy!"
A bit of trivia for this one.
Hunnin and Mugninn were just going to be ravens but I decided to spice it up lol
Some sources say the Giantess, Jarnsaxa, was Magni's mother and I decided to have a dagger for Thor named after her as homage.
