Letting out a long sigh, I angle my head up, letting the hot water dance on my skin, getting rid of a days sweat.
And what a day it was.
It was supposed to be a simple mission. At least that's what Kanan said.
Ouch.
I grimace as the water reaches the large cut across my back.
Stupid inquisitor.
Stealing imperial goods had turned into a 2v1 duel with the big baddie.
Talking shit throughout. Not fun.
I grimace as I run a hand through my short hair.
Maybe I should grow it out again.
I frown at the thought and grab the bar of soap.
Kanan got out fine, a bruise on his chest where the inquisitor kicked him, and a small cut across his cheek.
I sure he doesn't mind though, with Hera coddling him at this very moment.
Me on the other hand was a different story. Three fingers on my right hand that are most definitely broken by the look of the swelling , a banged up shoulder, and to top it all off a massive slash on my back. Minimal blood loss according to Zeb.
Nope, only seared skin. Thank you lightsaber. My favorite jacket is ruined though.
I start cleaning myself with my left hand, my right drooping limp. The inquisitor managed to catch my arm mid-swing, and pull it out of it's socket, causing me to scream in pain and fall to my knees. Next thing I know Kanan is sent careening into a large crate, leaving a dent. He must have turned back to me in order to finish me off, planting his foot in my chest as he slashed. Managed to squash my hand on his way out.
Karabast that hurt.
Glancing down at my hand I try to flex my fingers, one by one.
Owwww. Stupid, stupid, stupid, don't ever do that again.
Mentally cursing myself I play out the rest of duel in my head. Kanan must have witnessed the previous sequence as he flew back into the inquisitor's range bringing his lightsaber down in the near the inquisitor's head, only to be blocked, disarmed, and disregarded. By now Hera has shown up, with Sabine and Zeb hanging out the cargo door trying to help in any way possible.
Primarily shooting at him.
It was in vain as their shots were deflected back at them. Zeb falls while Sabine tries to catch him. Kanan miraculously catches Zeb mere millimeters from the ground with the force, and throws him back up to the hold. While distracted by Zeb's near end, the inquisitor takes this chance to end me. I was able to turn over in the knick of time.
Thank goodness for the Force. Really comes in handy sometimes.
His blow slices my back, and boy did that hurt.
A lot.
I turn the water off and feel the drops start sliding down my face.
How did we get out?
The cut across my back must have inflicted so much pain, my body just decided to shut down.
I blacked out.
Thank goodness too, left the hard work to Kanan and the others.
I feel a smile creep onto my face as I slide out of the small shower.
Hera really needs to save some credits and upgrade the bathrooms. Small, too small.
I pull my towel to me and start drying off.
Slipping out into the hallI start making my way to Zeb and I's bunk.
"Ezra?"
Oh boy
Slowly I turn to the the voice to see Sabine wide eyed, and in nothing but a tank top and pajama pants.
Damn
It's not often I see her out her armor.
And that top is pretty revealing.
Forcing my eyes upwards I catch her curious look.
"Hey." I sputter out nervously.
Focus. Getting dismantled at the one thing your supposed to be good at is embarrassing enough as it is.
Frowning my eyes dart around, avoiding Sabine and eventually landing on the durasteel plating on the ground.
"Forgetting something Ezra?"
Confused, I glance up at her only to be surprised with a stifled laugh.
Uh oh.
I glance down and see the problem.
Shit. Dumb ass. Stupid Ezra.
I snatch my towel from around my shoulders and quickly wrap it around the lower portion of my body.
That really just happened. She really just s-
"Goodnight Ezra." Sabine says quietly as she brisks past me.
It wasn't until I hear the gentle hiss of the door until I let go of the breath I didn't even know I was holding in.
Sigh.
. . .
The breeze brushes the tips of my hair as I try to maintain my calm composure with my eyes shut tightly.
Worst part of being a Jedi.
Meditating. Focusing entirely on one thing that I can't even depict is not my strong-suit.
At all.
Popping an eye open I glance in Kansans direction, who's eyebrows slowly raise. Although his eyes are closed, I know he can sense me.
"Yes Ezra?"
I quickly shut my eyes, and shake my head.
"Nothing. I'm fine."
I hear Kanan let out a sigh, "Something on your mind?" he lets out a sigh.
"Nope." I reply popping the "P".
"Are you s-"
Suddenly the screech of a tie fighter flies overhead.
Then another.
And another.
The long string of ties finally come to an end as I look over to Kanan, who's face I can't read.
That was. . . weird.
"Come." He says coming to stand and turning into the direction of the Ghost. "Let's warn the others."
Giving another glance up at the sky, I nod and follow him back up the ramp.
. . .
