Chapter Summary: Promt by 101abndiv: Kariver/Scarlet Canary where all the heroes go to a cabin out of town together for a sort of Justice League Christmas getaway to relax and celebrate together, in which Kariver and Scarlet Canary are both together and trying to keep it a secret (not very well) while trying to get some alone time together, and hilarity ensues - And by Karamelxttes: How about a double date in the ice ring that leads to an unfortunate team up because criminals are the worst. Then they all end up cozied up back at STAR Labs, wrapped in blankets with hot chocolate and all of them singing Christmas carols.

54. A Super Xmas
Cisco paced from one side to another while he waited. He was too anxious to wait and was getting annoyed by the second. It was not usual for people to be late when he called them, especially his super hero friends, so he was thinking a list of all names he would call them later. One by one, they started appearing and he smiled at them.
- Please don't tell me the world is ending again… - Ray Palmer said as he walked towards a chair, with a worried look in his face.
- Please, we just saved the universe… Again… - Kara said as she crossed her arms, also with a worried look in her face.
Sara, Dinah Drake, Oliver, Laurel, Killer Frost, Barry, Ralph, Diggle, Kate Kane, Lyla, Alex and Mick all approached Cisco, waiting for answers, all with concerned looks. The only time they all gathered like this was when the world was ending and needing saving.
- I mean, it's almost Christmas… - Laurel looked at Dinah that nodded at her.
- This is the point of this meeting. – Cisco said – I was thinking to myself: we saved the universe again, we need a break.
- Like… a vacation? – Killer Frost asked.
- Exactly! – Cisco smiled at the others – We need to stop getting together only when we need to save the world, we will traumatize the new girl… - He pointed to Kate at his right side.
- You do have a point… - Sara said and smiled too – I need a break from time traveling, the three of us does! – She pointed at herself, Mick and Ray.
- So… Are you all in? – Cisco asked, looking hopeful at everyone.
They all exchanged looks, thinking about it and little by little, the rest of the heroes were getting excited with the idea of taking a small break to truly enjoy the holidays, something they rarely did.
- My family owns a cabin in New Zealand… - Kate said after thinking for a while – No one's using so…
- YAS! That's the spirit! – Cisco clapped – I knew I would like you!
- The Wave Rider can get us there really fast by the way – Sara said – I'm not in the mood to be hours inside a plane…
- Well, that's settled… Let's spend Christmas together, as a family. – Barry nodded as he gave a tiny and imperceptible smile at Sara.
Christmas week arrived and all of them met at Star Labs hangar. Sara, Mick and Ray got there with the Wave Rider and they waited for the ones missing.
- It's incredible how Barry is the Flash and he manages to get late… In his own lab, in his own city… - Oliver said as he grabbed his bags. – After you – He gestured for Kara to go first and she nodded, smiling at him.
- Well, you can't be fast at everything, or you'll miss all the fun in life – Sara said as she greeted everyone while they got inside, trying to suppress a laugh. She knew exactly why Barry was late, but couldn't tell anyone.
FLASHBACK
Barry heard a knock on his window and got up from his bed, still a bit sleepy. He raised an eyebrow as soon as he saw her there, looking at him like she was about to do something really sneaky. Sara Lance was crazy for sure, and that's what he liked the most about her.
- I couldn't wait until tomorrow – She whispered as she jumped inside his bedroom, hugging him by his waist and kissing him fully on his lips.
- I feel like a teenager right now – He laughed.
- For sure you didn't have someone coming by the night at your place, dressed like this, did you?
Barry took a few steps back, looking at her coat. She slowly opened it, smiling at him, making his jaw drop and he almost fell as he hit the back of his tights on the chair. She had a black bodysuit that left a lot for the imagination. He could barely say anything as she dropped the coat on the floor and walked towards him.
- I didn't… I definitely didn't. – He said, still feeling hypnotized by her electric blue eyes.
- Well, there's a first time to everything… And it's exciting to sneak around… You told me Cisco was sleeping on your couch for a while, I had no other choice…
- Yep… His apartment flooded…
- Barry… Shhhh – She pressed her finger against his lips, kissing his neck.
- Ok… - He said as she kept attacking him.
END OF FLASHBACK
It didn't take long for them to get to the cabin and once there, everyone started spreading around, picking their rooms.
- Kate, this place looks more like a mansion than a cabin… It's beautiful – Kara said as she walked through the main corridor on the second floor.
- The Kanes and the Waynes doesn't know the meaning of the word simple… It's been a while since I was here… - She said as she walked towards the last door of the corridor. – Well I'm staying in my old room, but you can pick any room you want. She smiled at Kara and walked inside her room to drop her bags.
Kara picked one of the rooms in the middle of the corridor and saw Oliver there, finishing unpacking. She felt her cheeks going red and waved at him.
- I'm sorry; I didn't see you coming in…
- It's ok. – He smiled, walking closer – I was about to take a shower… - His face approached hers as he whispered. – Want to join me?
- Oliver Queen, behave! – She said giving a playful slap on his arm. – We have to be careful…
- I know… I just can't resist you…
- Charming... – She smiled.
- You could stay next door, just saying…
- But that's exactly what I'll do. – She smiled; looking around to make sure no one was coming and gave him a quick peck on his lips. – That's all you'll get for now.
- Ok, I'll settle for now…
Once everyone got their stuff to their rooms, they all gathered in the huge living room. The fireplace warmed the place since it was a really cold day and the light wasn't so bright, what made the vibe there ten times cozier. Some of them were spread on the two beige couches and others were just standing there.
- This wood won't be enough for the week… I think we'll need to grab some more… - Kate said as she took a look at the stash of wood next to the fireplace. – Who's helping?
Sara, Barry, Alex and Killer Frost got up to go help Kate. Oliver, Kara and Ray offered to go to the market and get some food and that made Mick wake up from the couch and stand, really excited.
- I need beer… I'll go with you guys.
- And I need hot chocolate… A lot! – Kara said as she got ready to leave with the others.
- Well, the rest of us will stay here and wait for you all… - Laurel said as she sat on the couch.
- I've brought games. Help me bring them here… - Cisco said as he nodded to Dinah and Laurel.
- Oh my God, I'm traveling with an actual 5-year-old… - Laurel said as she got up against her will.
- It's Christmas… Who doesn't play games at Christmas?
- An adult? – Laurel looked at him incredulous. Cisco just ignored her and left with Dinah.
Laurel went along to help, still mocking Cisco.
Killer Frost walked with Alex and Kate next to her while they looked for more wood. Barry and Sara came a bit behind them and neither was comfortable with the subject they picked for a small talk.
- I could swear you and Ralph had something going on… - Alex said looking a bit confused at Killer Frost.
- No, we're just friends… And it would be weird for Caity…
- How it's like when one of you date… I mean you share the same body… - Kate asked feeling even more confused than Alex.
- I rather not talk about it, thank you… Why don't we talk about your love lives? – She said knowing everyone around her was feeling uncomfortable.
- Well the person I love refuses to come out and is still engaged with a guy, so I don't have a lot to say… - Kate said as she looked around trying not to think about her situation with Sophie.
- And I got dumped… - Alex said – Definitely not talking about it…
- And you two? – Kate said as she looked back at Sara and Barry.
- I'm… I'm good, thanks – Sara gave them a tiny smile.
- I'm still friends with my ex, and I'm happy the way I am, so… Look, wood! – Barry said feeling glad they found what they were looking for. – They must be freezing back there so I will… I will take this… - He grabbed a few and ran out of there as fast as he could.
- I guess someone is sensitive… - Killer Frost said, grabbing a few wood and walking back, laughing.
In the market, Mick went straight for the drinking section, looking for his favorite beer. Ray walked near him, with a worried look on his face while Kara and Oliver went to look for the actual food.
- Mick… Hey, I think that's a lot of beer just for the weekend… - He said while Mick added three more packs on the basket.
- Listen haircut, if I'm going to survive this holiday with all of them, I need to be drunk!
- I was thinking about your new novel… This is a perfect time and place to have ideas, don't you think? You won't be able to do that if you're drunk all the time…
- Hum… Good point! – He said. – Still buying the beer, though… And you're paying for it! – He said as he dragged Ray along with him.
Meanwhile, in the meat section, Oliver and Kara looked for some turkey and chicken. Once they grabbed it, they went for the salad, fruits, juices, wine and ingredients for the dessert.
- Oh, the cocoa… - Kara said as she turned into a hallway and grabbed a package. – Almost forgot the most important…
- More than food?
- Yes. It's cold outside and hot cocoa at night before bed, it is purely heaven.
- Oh I have a different perception of heaven before bed… - Oliver whispered playfully at Kara that blushed and laughed, giving him a slight slap on the shoulder.
Mick just stared at the scene, lost in his thoughts while Ray paid for his beer. Kara and Oliver laughed at each other and did shopping like a married couple, and suddenly Mick was smiling to himself.
- Nice… The sweet innocent librarian and the rich playboy locked alone in the supermarket at Christmas… I like this plot…
- What? – Ray asked, as he grabbed the beer.
- Nothing…
Once they all met outside the market, they walked back to the cabin. Thankfully it was nearby, so it wasn't a problem to carry all the stuff they bought. Mick kept smiling to himself the whole way back.
At nightfall, Kara left the bathroom, already in her pjs, brushing her wet hair, when she heard Oliver talking to himself as he walked outside towards her room. She smiled to herself and told him to get in once he knocked.
- Hey you… - She said, giving him a kiss as soon as he closed the door behind him.
- It's nice to finally be able to kiss you – He grabbed her by the waist while they kissed, bringing her closer to him.
- I know…
They walked, still kissing, towards her bed. Kara helped him get out of his shirt and tossed it to the floor. They both fell in the bed, laughing and kissing. It was really good to finally be able to be together like this, she thought, but it was also exciting that they got to be together without anyone knowing about it for now; they could enjoy what was going on, just between the two of them. She pressed her hands through his muscles on his back, loving everything he was making her feel.
- Kara? Are you there? - Kate's voice was heard from outside as she knocked on Kara's door.
Oliver and Kara froze and looked at each other.
- Yes, I'm here. Just a minute… - She said as she rushed Oliver to get up.
Oliver stumbled and hit the foot of the bed but bit his lip not to swear. He quickly got his shirt from the floor and Kara gesture him to go inside the bathroom.
- It will only take a minute – She whispered to him – Just wait here…
Oliver gave her a quick peck on the lips, agreeing. He closed the door and just waited. Kara fixed her hair and opened the door, smiling at Kate.
- I just took a shower… But come in. It's your home anyways – She teased.
- Funny… - Kate said as she sat on the bed.
- Is everything ok?
- Yes… It's just that… Remember when I told you about my sister and that she was a lunatic criminal that killed my stepmother and all?
- Yes… You weren't sure if she could be saved and afraid of what would happen to her if your dad caught her…
- Yes… - Kate lowered her head – He called me now… They caught her.
Kara pressed her hand slightly on Kate's shoulder in support.
- I'm afraid they are going to kill her… I know all she did, and I wanted to bring her to justice myself, but…
- She is your sister…
- I don't know if there's anything left of my sister there, Kara… I mean, she has gone too far…
- This is not her… I don't know her, but for what you have told me, she suffered a huge horror, grew up without family, knowing only suffering. Those things take time, to fully recover, it leaves marks, I've seen it. You can't lose hope… Also, you can't lose hope about your dad too… He will do the right thing; you need to believe that. For now, she's arrested right?
- Yes. – Kate nodded
- So it means that Gotham's safe and she's safe.
- That's a good point.
- I know it's hard to keep being positive and hoping for the best when dark times are upon us… But if we don't have it, who will? Someone needs to keep that sparkle; you know?
- Kara, how you do it?
Kate got up and crossed her arms, looking curiously at Kara.
- I just do it… I try to keep going on, believing we can have better days and that people can find their way to the light. And if they can't, I like to believe they deserve to be brought to justice in the right way because it keeps us going, and believing the world can be fixed, can be a better place. If I don't believe it, I can be the hero my city needs, and I can't help people if I give up easily.
They spent one more hour talking, until Kate thanked her for being such a good friend and listener and left the room. As soon as Kate left, Kara went to the bathroom only to find Oliver sleeping inside the bathtub.
- For Rao… - She said as she gently tried to wake him up – Ollie? Hey… Ollie, wake up…
- Huh? – Oliver slowly woke up, and looked at Kara. – What time is it?
- 2 in the morning – Kara said with a guilty look in her eyes – I'm sorry…
- It will only take a minute, you said…
- I know… I'm sorry it took so long, but Kate needed me…
- It's ok… - Oliver got up and stepped out of the bathtub – That's what I love about you… - He said as he caressed her face and placed a small peck on her lips, realizing what he said only a few seconds later.
They both stared at each other; Kara froze as she heard him say that.
- You… what?
Oliver considered what he said for a while, deciding to throw caution out of the window. He grabbed her hand and brought her back to the bed. They sat and he stared at her.
- Yes, I love you. I love that you are there for people, no matter what. I love that you have a big heart and that you believe people can be better… You believed I could… I love all of that about you.
Kara felt tears wanting to come out, and took a deep breath. She never expected to her this from Oliver, at least not now. They never talked about it, if they were dating or just hanging out, they just let things happen. She reached for his hand and squeezed it, not too hard, but enough for him to know what it meant to her.
- I never thought I would be able to feel this way for anyone after Mon El left to the future… But you managed to win my heart, my trust, my admiration… And I can't express enough how happy I am when I'm with you. – She said as she gave him a kiss. – I love you too – She whispered to him and he attacked her mouth with passion.
After being interrupted all the time they tried to be together like this, they finally managed to really enjoy each other that night.
It was almost 10 o'clock when Oliver went back to his room, making sure no one saw him leave Kara's room first. After a while, he went downstairs only to find everyone in the kitchen, having breakfast and talking. He looked at Kara and fought to keep his smile to himself after the look she gave him.
- Christmas Eve is tomorrow and we forgot the tree… - Cisco said in a jump, making Dinah jump in scare.
- It's ok, I can pick one and bring here so we can decorate it together… It will be fun – Kara said.
- We could also do a quick secret Santa… - Cisco said, hoping people would come aboard with his ideas
- You and your games… - Laurel teased
- It will be fun… You never had one before? – Cisco looked at her horrified
- No. – Laurel said – I was never a good daughter to have those traditions and then my father passed and I became a villain, so…
They all fell in an awkward silence all of the sudden. Almost no one there knew about her past so it was a bit surprising to hear her talking about it. Kara noticed her sad look in her eyes, and walked towards her.
- Hey, it's never too late – Kara said as she smiled at Laurel – You'll love it.
- Ok – Laurel said as she took a deep breath – It will be nice to try new things anyways. – She looked at Cisco – and I'm sorry, I was just kidding and messing with you…
- It's ok. – Cisco said. – And I'm sorry all that stuff happened to you. But you have a family of super heroes here now, and Kara is right, it's never too late to experience things in life.
- So it's settled! – Kara said, feeling excited.
- Let's do this so we can get presents at the store nearby while we can – Kate said, feeling excited for Christmas for the first time in years, but she decided there was no need for people to know that.
- I'll help with the sorting of the secret Santa – Alex nodded at Kate, that gave her a small smile.
Cisco talked about all of them being a family, and that's how it felt for Kara. After the sorting, she went to pick the tree feeling grateful for having such awesome people in her life. She couldn't help but notice earlier her sister feeling really happy and she knew Alex has been feeling down lately, especially after Kelly broke up with her. She noticed Alex and Kate bonding as they sorted the names earlier and how they were having so much fun. Deep down, she hoped they could get closer and maybe help each other.
The afternoon was even funnier, with all of them decorating the tree and messing around. Even Oliver was laughing and smiling more than he usually did. Mick refused to do that, but kept staring at the tree and telling them where to put some more decoration while he wrote his novel.
- It`s going to be a nice celebration tomorrow – Laurel said as she looked at the huge tree, fully decorated – I never had anything like that before, I actually never cared… But I`m happy to be here with all of you…
- I`m happy you're here too. – Sara said as she stood at her side – I`m sorry you had a though life and I also know it can drive us to the wrong directions in life. I`ve been there. But things always get better. And also, I`m here for you, if you need it.
Laurel and Sara hugged each other.
- Oh guys, this is so cute – Ray said – I think we need a group hug.
- Nope – Oliver said looking at him with his most serious look.
Sara was in her room later that night, thinking about that crazy little group they had and how she was grateful to have all of them, her team, Barry, even if it was in secret. She came a long way and she knew it was a miracle she was even alive, so she decided she was going to live the most of it. She smiled at her reflection on the mirror and turned around, going to Barry`s room. She missed being with him the whole day, even if he was by her side most of the times. She loved the adrenaline of keeping things a secret, but sometimes she just wanted to be able to hug or kiss him anytime she wanted. She knew his room was across hers, so she tried to be really quiet while walking there, so no one would see her and ask questions.
She got in, smiling and feeling excited to surprise him and closed the door behind him. He was lay with the covers above his head and she sat on the bed.
- Hey Barry, I have a surprise for you…
- Wha… Who's there?
Once he got the covers off his head, Sara jumped in scare and Cisco yelled.
- Shhhh! You'll wake up the others! – She said, still feeling her heart jumping inside her chest – You scared me!
- I scared you? What the hell are you doing here?
- I ask you the same! This is Barry's room.
- He asked me to change rooms with him for no reason and I, as a good friend, accepted it. And wait… - Cisco sat on the bed. – You have a surprise for him? In the middle of the night? And you thought this was his room… OH MY GOD!
- SHHHHHH keep your voice down!
- How do you ask me to keep my voice down? You and Barry? FOR REAL?
- CISCO!
Sara looked annoyed at Cisco. He wasn't supposed to know anything, but now the damage was done. She just had to make sure it wouldn't be worse from now on.
- Can you please keep this from the others? No one knows.
- Oh, you don't say… - Cisco yawned – I really want to sleep, and I'm pretty sure you know my room was next to yours… Oh… Now everything makes sense… - He covered his face with his hands. – Ok, go… I want to go back to sleep and pretend you all over me was just a nightmare…
- I also want to pretend this was a nightmare… Oh, God… - Sara said as she quickly left the room.
Sara quickly went to Barry's actual room and as soon as she entered, she saw him sat on the bed, looking like he was lost in his thoughts.
- Thanks for warning me you changed rooms with Cisco…
- Oh, sorry – He said as he got up and walked towards her – I was going to surprise you…
- Well, I was going to surprise you tonight and…
- Oh no…
- Oh yes. I don't want to talk about it… But Cisco knows.
- Oh… - Barry looked worried at her – I'm sure he won't tell anyone.
- That's what I asked him… Look, we both want this, right?
- Sure… We agreed we would tell everyone when we both felt ready for it… And I still enjoy having you all to myself.
- Same here. – She smiled – Please make forget that awkward moment with Cisco happened… I don't want to have nightmares…
- You're the boss!
- I like the sound of that – She smiled as they hugged and kissed passionately.
Cisco couldn't sleep, he knew the image of Sara sat in his bed and talking like that would haunt him forever and he only had Barry to thank for that. He got up and decided to take a walk around that huge cabin, that for him was much more than that, it was a hidden mansion. He had no idea why Kate called the place a cabin.
He was lost in his thoughts when he looked at the right corridor and noticed something weird. He was pretty sure he saw something and went to see what it was. He was ready to fight if he had to when he bumped into Kara.
- Oh it's you… - Cisco said with a bit of relief
- Who did you think it was?
- No one… I just saw movement, and came to check it… Never mind. – Cisco looked at Kara's shirt and was sure he saw Oliver wearing it earlier.
- Is… everything ok? – Kara asked noticing Cisco looked funny at her.
- Is this Oliver's shirt?
Kara looked down her shirt and froze for a while. She couldn't believe she forgot to put her own shirt. She looked at him with guilt in her eyes and gave Cisco a weak smile. Why would she try to deny it if it was clear he figured it out?
- Yes… It is…
- I knew it… Oh my… You two…
- Yes, and you can't tell anyone, please? – Kara said – We're not ready to tell others yet…
- It's ok Kara. I'm good at keeping secrets… You all just need to be more careful!
- You all?
- You two, I meant you two… Well, I will try to go back to sleep now, good night.
- Good night… - Kara said going for the kitchen, she was starving.
Cisco walked away thinking what the hell was going on with his friends that everyone decided to keep their relationship a secret.
Christmas Eve came quickly and everyone tried to cooperate their own way. Dinah, Alex and Oliver were responsible for the food, Mick asked to be responsible for the dinner speech, surprising everyone, Ray, Kate, and Laurel were finishing decorating the living room, Barry, Sara, Cisco and Killer Frost were taking care of the drinks and Barry and Kara were responsible for the music.
- We need to karaoke – Kara laughed with Barry as they picked the music.
- We sure do. A karaoke battle!
- Deal!
They looked like kids that just won they favorite ice cream.
Everything was ready by the end of the day and they all were really proud of the work they have done. Everyone were singing, dancing and laughing when Ray gathered everyone in the living room so they could give the secret Santa gifts.
- I'll start… - Mick said as he grabbed his gift and stood up. - Well… This… All of this was never my thing. I was more of the "let's steal stuff on Christmas" kind of guy. Now I enjoy most of it for the drinks… And the food, good job by the way – He said giving Oliver, Dinah and Alex thumbs up, making them laugh – But this has been fun… And nice. You all are a bunch of weirdoes that I enjoy spend time with, so that's it…
- Thanks Mick… - Barry said not knowing if that was a compliment or an insult, but decided to let it go for now.
- Oliver is my secret Santa and well… Here's your gift. – Mick said giving Oliver the box as he got up, thanking him – And well… you and Kara inspired my new novel, I was having some trouble writing it, but somehow whatever is going on between the two of you inspired me, so thanks… - He patted Oliver on the back and sat down, drinking his beer.
- Well… this is... Nice – Oliver said as he opened the box and stared in shock at what he saw.
- That's right, a box of condoms… I don't know if aliens need it, but anyways… You two enjoy it.
They all stood in silence and Oliver and Kara looked at each other, confused. They both looked at Cisco that denied saying anything.
- Ahm… Er… - Oliver was trying to think while he looked at that box in his hand – Thanks Mick… I don't know how…
- At the supermarket, you two were acting like a married couple, body language and all… Figured it out quickly. You are not that good at pretending…
- Well… ok. – Oliver said, looking at everyone. – You know what? That's right. Kara and I are together. We decided to keep this from you all because we weren't ready to do that. We were figuring things out, what it all meant for us…
- No pressure, man – Barry said as he smiled at Oliver and Kara.
- I'm so glad I don't have to keep secrets anymore; I was worried I would let anything slip about you two and Barry and Sara and… - Cisco looked around, noticing what he just did – Oops.
- It's ok… - Sara said – We're seeing each other.
Dinah ended up spitting the juice she was drinking and Laurel patted her back.
- This night keeps getting more interesting… - Laurel said as she smiled at the others.
- Best Christmas ever! – Mick said – Cheers! – He raised his drink in his hand and took a sip of it.
Once everyone let the news just sink in, they kept going on with the Secret Santa until everyone got their gifts.
- I loved it, Barry – Kara said looking like a happy kid
- You gave her a karaoke microphone? – Alex asked looking at the thing closer – I will kill you! – She teased.
- I promise I won't be singing all the time.
- You better…
- And what did Kate give you?
- This really cool weapon her friend helped her build. This is going to be so useful… - Alex smiled
- Oh look, you two share some interests…
- Kara, don't even start…
- I'm not saying anything… - Kara looked at Alex with a knowing look only her sister would understand. – Just…think about it.
The fireplace was warming the whole place and all of them sat around it, with blankets and drinking hot chocolate, except Mick that was still drinking his favorite beer.
- It's crazy to see how destiny works, right? – Sara said while sat between Barry's legs, a comfy blanket covering both of them – How we ended up all here tonight.
- It was meant to be – Kara said as she was hugged by Oliver that sat beside her on the couch.
- I'm grateful for Caity letting me experience this time of the year for the first time with you all… - Killer Frost said as she sat on the carpet. – She's excited to be here too by the way.
- Even before crisis, we had so many big changes… Before Flashpoint we had different lives and then all of the sudden, it all changed. It took time for us to adjust, discovering other Earths and doppelgangers and the whole multiverse… And now, everything is different again… - Cisco said. – It's nice to share it all with you guys…
They kept talking about some memories they had and sharing stories about their own adventures. It was fun to share with all of them that that they all lived in the same Earth.
- I don't miss my old days at all… I mean, it was cool to be CEO at Palmer Tech and to help team Arrow, but now… It's so beyond everything I hoped for… - Ray said – I mean, I got to see myself younger and having a baby dominator as a best friend, and be friends with a Dinosaur... Time traveling changed my life for the better and I couldn't be happier…
- Wow… And I thought our lives were crazy – Alex said looking at Kara
- This is all new for me… - Kate said – Time traveling, aliens, timelines changing… I never thought all of this could be real… and here we are.
