Chapter Summary: It's Barry and Iris rehearsal dinner. A nice and fun among friends ends up being something that will change Oliver Queen's life forever.

59. Moon River

Jitters were really crowded that special night, full of super heroes and friends, celebrating the love of Barry Allen and Iris West. Oliver looked around, happy to see so many people smiling, having a good time, just chilling. Half of them always met when the world was about to end and it was really nice to have a change of scenario, at least for once. Alex, Kara's sister he just met was happily drinking with Sara at the bar, while others were spread around chatting, eating and drinking.

This was fun, he thought.

He wasn't feeling in the mood of socializing lately, thanks to Felicity breaking up with him a few days prior to the party because she let it clear that she didn't want to marry him. After a lot of arguing, he just walked out and felt miserable since then, so to be able to take some fresh air, see dear friends and drink, was a good thing for him. Felicity stopped by earlier and left soon, so he never even had the chance to talk to her. And it was better like that, he believed. Saving the city would be awkward at first, but they would manage it just like they did last time they broke up, he thought.

- Barry, this is really nice. – He said as Barry stood by his side, smiling widely

- I'm glad you're having fun, man… After all that happened…

- I'm ok, Barry. Tonight is about you and Iris – He smiled, having a sip of his drink

- Barry, who's playing at your wedding man? – Cisco said as he came closer to Oliver and Barry, along with Caitlin, Kara, Joe, Iris, Cecile, Stein and his wife and daughter.

- About that… I was actually… - Barry looked at Kara, but Cisco interrupted, really excited.

- Because I totally think you should sing at it.

- What? – Oliver looked confused from Cisco to Barry.

- My friend can sing, man. – Cisco patted Barry on the back

- I think you drank too much, Cisco… - Barry blushed – Besides, there's someone here that can sing a lot better than me and you know it.

- Who? – Mick asked, drinking his beer and feeling really happy for having free drinks and food.

- Kara! – Barry pointed at her, making her blush

Oliver looked even more curious at her. He had no idea what his friends were talking about, he was literally feeling really lost.

- What are you guys talking about? I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused… - Oliver said, making Cisco and Barry laugh.

- Oh, we forgot to mention the time Kara and I got trapped inside a musical? – Barry said, looking serious at Oliver – So many weird things happen all the time, I forget…

- You guys were trapped inside a musical? I agree, that's weird… - Diggle said as he approached them all, trying to understand what he meant about that.

- I was having trouble in my old relationship back then, Barry and Iris were a bit off so this crazy guy called Music Meister thought it was a good idea to teach us both a lesson, trapping us inside a musical in our minds. – Kara said, adjusting her glasses as she remembered that crazy adventure. – And it worked…

Oliver noticed a bit of sadness on Kara's eyes and wondering what happened. She mentioned an old relationship, so he was pretty sure it was about that. He couldn't just ask her, not yet at least, it was too personal, so he was going to accept being curious for now. He also couldn't imagine being trapped inside of a musical; he would rather die than have to sing.

- That must have been awful… - He said.

- Not really… It was quite fun… - Barry said – Not the part where if we died there we would die here in the real world, and all the shooting that happened… Malcolm was there by the way, he can truly sing – Barry rambled, stopping as soon as he saw the look into Oliver's eyes – Anyways… But in general, it was fun…

Cisco raised his hand and looked at everyone, waiting to have their attention.

- Listen, I think is only fair we can actually listen to Kara as well, I mean… You always mention how great she is…

- Kara, I… - Barry turned to her – I actually wanted to invite you to sing at my wedding… You have a beautiful voice and it would be great to have you singing there…

Kara looked at everyone staring at her and blushed. She loved to sing, but at karaoke night, this was a totally different thing. She blushed even more and looked at Barry, smiling at him.

- Seeing is believing Kara, I'm sorry. – Cisco said – In this case, hearing… You should let us hear you sing now, just to be sure – He teased, making her laugh

They all kept encouraging her and smiling excited at her. Kara nodded and Cisco and Barry clapped, excitedly. Iris hugged Barry and rested her head on his shoulder as they all stared at Kara. Oliver adjusted on his seat as he kept watching while Kara stood up and adjusted nervously her glasses.

"Moon river, wider than a mile…"

She started singing and the place felt silent. Kara was nervous but slowly it was all fading away. She really loved to sing, it made her feel safe and comfortable, like she could forget all about her problems and just give in to the moment. Oliver stared at her in awe. She truly had a beautiful voice, like an angel. He wished he could have heard her before, giving the fact that her singing was creating such a different sensation inside of him.

He suddenly felt calm, like he was in heaven listening to her voice. It was like he could just enjoy that and not worry about anything else, ever again. She hit high notes perfectly, and it caused chills on him, he felt like hypnotized, staring at her.

"…moon river and me"

Everyone clapped while Kara blushed even more, if that was possible. Oliver kept staring at her and finally realized the song was over. He clapped, still in awe, not able to describe in his mind what he was feeling at that moment.

All he knew is that he wanted to hear that beautiful voice again.

And again.

And again.

- So, I guess we can all agree it's a wonderful idea that Barry had, right? – Cisco said, applauding excitedly as he hugged Kara – What an amazing voice you have, my friend. If nothing else works, you should totally pursue a career.

- Nah, I'm fine just at karaoke and weddings – Kara laughed and turned to Barry – Yes, I'll love to sing at your wedding. – She smiled, hugging Barry and then Iris.

After a while, everyone was back at the chatting and drinking, enjoying the rest of the party as they could. Joe made a beautiful speech that made some of them cry and they all cheered Iris and Barry.

Oliver was standing by Kara's side and they toasted, drinking a sip of champagne afterwards. Oliver put his glass down and smiled at Kara.

- I have to say, that was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard… They're right, your voice is amazing.

Kara smiled back at him, looking down as she blushed again. She noticed while she sang, his looks at her and something inside of her told her that it was making her nervous. She was used to sing to people, she loved it. She felt really strong and free doing it, but there, among all of them, she felt like it was her first time ever. And she could tell it had something to do with his reactions. She just wondered why.

- Thank you. – She said. – It's something I really love doing.

- I'm glad we'll be able to hear you again tomorrow.

He was losing control of the stuff he said, he could tell. He noticed it had an effect on her as she exhaled how nervous she was.

- You'll be great – He said in a low voice, near her ear and smiled once more, leaving to talk to Diggle.

Kara kept staring at him, wondering what in the name of Rao was happening to her.

After the party, they all spread through their friend's homes, to make it easier for them to go to the wedding since some of them couldn't just go back home and come back early on the next day. Kara and Alex stayed at Joe's, at least it was supposed to be like that, but Alex vanished and Kara was really worried with her, but fell asleep soon. Mick and Jax stayed at Martin's house. Diggle and Oliver stayed at Cisco's place since he lived alone and had enough room to host them for one night. Diggle was almost snoring on one couch while Oliver tried to sleep on the other couch across it.

He could hear her voice singing again.

It was truly like an angel singing.

He felt in heaven.

He felt her body pressing against his on the bed. He had no idea who was the owner of that bedroom and even less how they ended up there. All he could think about was her soft skin against his, her lips going from the base of his neck to the base of his ear while she sang to him in a low voice. He could feel the soft curls of her hair with one of his hands while the other pressed her waist. He needed her closer to him, if that was even possible.

- Oliver – She whispered in his ear, still on her singing voice and it made him feel chills all over his body.

He jumped from the couch, almost falling over.

He looked around confused. He was still in Cisco's living room

He just had a dream.

- I'm so screwed! – He said, covering his face with his hands.

Diggle slowly woke up and sat on the other couch, looking worried at him.

- Is everything ok? – Diggle asked in a sleepy voice.

- Yep… Everything's just great. – Oliver turned around trying to go back to sleep as he lay down again.

That was going to be a really long day.

NOTES 2:

Spoiler Alert: Prompt by NayaZorEl:I know you recently came out of surgery so I hope you get better! I have a suggestion... how about Oliver trains Kara to fight (maybe blindfolded) and then surprises her with *. This just popped into my mind! – I hid the surprise so it wouldn't be a spoiler to the story haha
