68. Brightest soul

Life was truly funny.

If anyone ever told his past self that he would be where he was now, he would tell that person smoked something really strong; never in a thousand years he would believe them.

But there he was: cuddling in bed with a beautiful alien, in another universe, far away from home and not giving a damn for anything else, at least for a while.

He watched her sleeping so peacefully; he didn't want to wake her up, even if she had told him to do so in case she overslept.

She started opening her eyes slowly and smiled as soon as she saw his eyes on her.

- Hey there! – She whispered.

She was a vision right now, he thought. He smiled back, giving her a kiss right afterwards. He love her sweet eyes, they had a power over him that was unexplainable. He just couldn't say no, anytime she looked at him like she was looking right now.

- This is not fair! – He said, caressing her face

- What? – She stared confused at him

- You give me this look and I melt…

- What look? – She teased him, going in for another kiss.

He knew he was forever screwed.

It all started right after their first team up. Kara appeared in Star City right when he was about to knock Prometheus out. He definitely had a priceless look on his face that Olvier would never forget.

FLASHBACK

- I would think twice if I were you… - Kara said as she used her heat vision to melt Prometheus bow. He dropped it on the ground, pissed, but in shock.

He ran towards Kara that stood between Oliver and him, and felt like hitting a wall. Kara didn't even move an inch. She looked pissed at him and gave the punch back, making him fly across the street. Prometheus noticed he wouldn't be able to win at that moment, not with that strange woman fighting him, so he just vanished. Kara turned around and smiled innocently at Oliver.

- Thank you for this but… Did anything happen? – Oliver said a bit pissed, making Kara wonder if he was truly saying thanks or being sarcastic.

- Sort of… I kind of need your help… I have this… friend, Jimmy. And he's new at this super hero thing, he's human. And he really needs some training. He knows how to fight but I told him, if he was going to help the DEO, he would have to train with someone who actually understands being a vigilante…]

- And you thought of me? – Oliver looked unsure of what to say. He was used to training people, but traveling to another universe would require some planning, he couldn't leave his city unprotected. – I don't know, Kara…

- I wouldn't be here if it wasn't really urgent. Jimmy and Winn got hurt pretty bad, I'm afraid they will end up killing themselves and nothing I can say would stop them.

- If they are not prepared, they shouldn't be doing it at all… This life is not easy, people can get hurt, killed…

- I know… That's why I'm here. – Kara took a few steps closer to Oliver, looking like she was a lost puppy desperately needing help.

Oliver knew he would feel guilty if he said no and something happened. He just took a deep breath, deciding to take a shot.

- I need to take care of a few things first. But yes, I'll help you.

Kara clapped excitedly and gave him a kiss in the cheek, not aware of what she just had done. She blushed, realizing it and excused herself, using her extrapolator and going back in a hurry. Oliver just stared at where she vanished, thinking about how cute she looked red like that.

Oliver knew that sometimes that look brought trouble as well, but he was more than happy to face them, especially by her side. And he could tell their friends felt the same way. There was something magical about Kara that just could inspire anyone around her, her happiness, her brightness, her good spirits were contagious.

FLASHBACK

Oliver, Barry, Sara, Ray, Mick, Nate, Amaya, Zari, Firestorm, stood by Kara's side along with Alex, Jimmy, J'onn, Imra, Mon El, Alura and Brainy, facing Reign. The city was a mess, destruction everywhere; it felt like an earthquake was going to destroy that entire world. Reign stared at Supergirl, laughing as she came closer to the heroes.

- Last time I faced you, I almost killed you Supergirl. Do you really think your friends can help saving you now?

- Yeah, about that… We have some things to settle! – Sara said as she gave everyone the signal – First, you don't mess with one of our own.

- If you do, you mess with all of us! – Firestorm said as he flew high in the sky.

- You messed with the wrong crew – Ray looked pissed at Reign as he also took flight, ready to attack.

- Answering your question… - Kara said as she also flew high, with her mom right behind her. – Yes, I do!

- NOW! – Oliver yelled and they all moved at once, attacking Reign the best they could.

Fireballs, lightning bolts, air waves were thrown at Reign, while Oliver used his tricky arrows to help distract her. Nate steeled up and ran towards Reign, doing his best to hit her and knock her out. Amaya used her totem and gathered enough strength to hold Reign by her neck while everyone else did their part. Alex and Jimmy worked hard to give the others enough cover and it seemed like it was working. Barry used his super speed and Reign couldn't even see where his attack came from, since she was distracted by everyone else.

Kara gave the final punch, making Reign fall down. She nodded at Barry that threw at her a bottle.

- Make her drink this! – He said as Kara grabbed it and forced it down Reign's throat.

Everyone looked up and saw figures looking like specters flying around and coming towards Reign. Oliver stared at the scene, still in disbelief that their plan worked, while the figures took Reign away.

- That was… Awesome! – Brainy said as he smiled to everyone.

- I can't believe it worked… - Barry said.

- Is it over? – Alex asked – Is everyone ok?

- Yes, finally. – Kara smiled – Sam can finally have her life back and have some peace.

- I was unsure some magical water would work, if I'm being honest – Nate said coming back to his normal self

- We found it in Death Valley and found out it could separate the kryptonian from the human. It was worth a shot, Sam deserved that chance. – Kara said as her mom hugged her.

- I'm proud of you, Kara. – Alura said and everyone nodded.

END OF FLASHBACK.

Kara truly had the biggest heart. He could never do what she did back then, see the good in someone like she did, trying to save their human side like she tried to. That was what made her so special. She kissed him once more, embracing herself into his strong arms.

- Can we stay here the whole day? – She said as her lips gave him pecks on his neck, making him smile and feel chills.

- Tempting… - He murmured and stared at her.

- I love you, Oliver Queen.

Oliver looked at Kara, his heart almost jumping from his chest. It was the first time ever she was telling him that and he couldn't be happier. She made him feel like he wanted to be better, the best version of himself. His hands went to her waist, bringing her a bit closer.

- I love you to – He said as he kissed her with a lot of passion.
