74. Matchmaker

It wasn't easy to be a super hero. Not easy at all.

But she loved it, especially when she got to team up with her new friends from a different Earth.

Yes. Different Earth.

It was still weird to say it out loud and she was an alien from another planet. She knew the moment she met Barry Allen, her world turned upside down and she had a feeling that it was like that for basically everyone else as well. She found out about the Multiverse, and meta-humans, doppelgangers, and so much crazy, but the most important of it all: she found new friends, people who understood her and how it was like to live this crazy life, the need to lie to the people you loved the most just to protect them, to feel like the entire world was on her shoulders and she needed to carry on and not drop it.

It was exhausting.

That's why she loved when her new friends called her for a team-up. She got to share all the crazy with them, share experiences, stuff she couldn't do with her friend Lena, for example.

It all started when Barry Allen, The Flash, ended up on her Earth by accident and she learned the theory of the Multiverse was real. Then, she met the rest of the heroes from Earth 1, according to Cisco Ramon, when they were under attack. They faced the Dominators, a race of aliens she knew damn well, so she was more than happy to go there and help them. It wasn't easy at first, especially because one of them made things really hard for her. That someone was Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow. They started with the wrong foot and she got really pissed when he benched her, and it took her saving his life for him to see he was being unfair. He apologized later and they became friends.

She got to visit two more times after that and along with Oliver and Barry, they formed what Cisco and Felicity called "the Trinity", because it was most the three of them holding everyone together, as the glue of their small league of heroes.

Now, she was back to Earth 1 and once again they managed to save the world, avoiding a huge crisis with Thanagarians trying to come and control the Earth. The Star Labs hangar became their safe place for reunions, training and parties to celebrate their victory and once again, she was celebrating a huge victory. After a few hours of celebration, everyone started to say their goodbyes and go back to their cities. Sara, Oliver, Barry and Kara were the only ones left, still celebrating.

- And… We did it again! – Barry said as he brought a glass of champagne for Sara, and Kara.

- We did it! – Oliver raised his glass and they all toasted in joy.

- Well, if you guys don't mind, I need to go back to the Wave Rider. We still have a bunch of things to fix in the timeline – Sara said, drinking in one sip and giving the glass back to Barry – Thank you. – She hugged everyone and walked away.

- You're welcome – Barry smiled and stared at Oliver – I never imagined I would find someone who messes up the timeline more than I did…

- I heard that! – Sara yelled from a bit far away

- Just kidding – Barry laughed.

- So… What now? – Oliver asked – I assume you're also leaving… - He asked Kara as he also finished his drink.

- I think I'll stay a bit more… - She said – We barely have time to catch up when the world is almost ending – She smiled

- True – Barry said.

Oliver nodded with his head as a tiny half smile formed on his lips. Kara usually was the first to leave, worrying about her world; it was curious to him how she looked chill for the first time since he had met her.

- What you guys usually do after saving the world? – She asked excitedly.

Barry and Oliver stared at each other as if they knew some inside joke that got Kara curious and Barry just told her to follow them.

They got to a cool bar not far from Star Labs and Barry went for 3 beers while Oliver and Kara got themselves a table and sat across each other. Barry came back with the beers and sat down, smiling.

- We drink, chat about life, mock each other, I brag about how I've beat him 3 times already and he complains about me making him hug people – Barry said, laughing.

- That's fun – Kara laughed, making Oliver use his death stare with both of them. So… you not a hugger? – She stared at Oliver.

- Not much. – He said and stared down at the table. – Is hard to explain… - He stared at Barry – And last time was a tie. And you do hug a lot – Oliver said, drinking his beer.

- Well, I have time… - Kara smiled, staring at Oliver as she rested her chin on her right hand.

Oliver thought for a while and stared back at her.

- I have a hard time trusting people… So I don't feel that comfortable hugging everyone like that.

- Yeah, I kind of noticed you don't easily trust people… Is kind of hard to forget when we met – Kara teased him.

- It's nice to have you here with us – Barry said as he looked at Kara – We never hang out that much, the three of us since the first time you visited… I'm glad you could come.

- Me too. It's always so crazy back on my Earth, with the DEO and work… My team of super friends is small and I love them, but is nice to be able to stay away for a while, in a place not everyone knows me and talk to people that can really get it…

- Sometimes you are surrounded by people, but feel like no one could possibly understand the things you go through… - Oliver commented, thinking about what Kara was saying as he drank another sip of his beer.

- Something like that… - she said

Kara stared curiously at Oliver. He seemed like the kind of guy who never shared his thoughts or what he was feeling, and given the fact he was a vigilante, she could only imagine that was ten times harder for him to connect with someone. She could get it because she was in the exact same situation, except she trusted people way too much, according to her sister Alex. She noticed he was also starring at her and she lowered her eyes to her drink, slightly blushing.

- Ok, they have karaoke here – Barry said and looked at Kara – I'll sing if you sing…

Kara nodded excitedly and Oliver just stood in silence with a "don't look at me, I'm not doing it" look. Barry laughed and got up to the mini stage while Oliver and Kara laughed at his silly dance.

- I hate to admit but he has a good voice – Oliver said – I never said that – He stared at Kara, making her laugh.

- Your secret is safe with me – She said, cheering Barry on, making Oliver laugh.

Kara looked at Oliver with s surprised look.

- Is that… a smile? – She teased

- Funny… Well, yes… It is… - He said – Don't tell anyone…

- Well, I'm flattered. I got to see you smile and admit a secret. See? Progress…

Kara knew Oliver for a short time, but she could tell he didn't feel comfortable letting himself go like this, smiling and laughing, just chilling. She had a feeling he didn't have that many opportunities to just let go and have fun and felt a little bit of excitement inside, knowing he was allowing himself to be a bit carefree in front of her.

Oliver smiled again as he thought about what she said. He never noticed before but he had a tendency to smile and laugh more when he was around Barry and Kara. He was glad to be friends with them both, it felt like they were his light among the darkness that was his life. Of course, he would never admit it to them, but it was a nice feeling for a change. He was also glad that he got to meet Kara for real. He confessed to himself he was first intimidated, then surprised to see how powerful she was and still managed to be a nice person with a contagious laugh and such a bright spirit that believed the best in people and lastly, he thought she had a beautiful smile.

- It's only fair I get to know a secret from you too… I think we're ready to take this to the next level – Oliver teased, making Kara laugh this time around.

- Next level? Interesting… Hm, let me see… - Kara thought for a while, her face came a bit closer and she raised her hand to her mouth, saying almost in a whisper – I am Supergirl.

She laughed, noticing Oliver's face. It was really fun to mess with him a bit, she confessed to herself mentally.

- Ok I'm kidding… I don't have secrets… I'm an open book sir.

- Oh I doubt it.

- It's true. Except for…you know… That secret.

That and some other things she would never in a million years admit in front of him, but he didn't need to know that.

- So you don't have anything that you keep to yourself? Nothing you feel like you would be mortified if anyone found out? Can I ask you anything and you'll just tell me?

Kara thought about it for a while.

- Yes.

Oliver stared at her for a while as he thought about it. He was sure he could find out something she hid from other people.

- Challenge accepted.

Oliver took a sip of his beer and Barry came back, reaching his hand to Kara.

- Your turn! – He said

- Nicely done my friend. And ok, my turn – Kara said as she gave Oliver a last look before getting up and following Barry to the stage.

They sang a song together and Oliver just watched. He looked surprised hearing her singing for the first time. She had and angelical voice, for sure. After they ended, Barry came back to the table while Kara picked a song to sing by herself. Oliver kept staring at her and Barry looked from Oliver to Kara, and smiled. Oliver noticed it and turned to Barry.

- Ok, what?

- Nothing… - Barry said, trying not to laugh.

- Stop lying and just tell me…what?

- Man, you're so smitten…

Oliver looked at Barry as if he was a crazy person.

- What? I'm not…

- Yes, you are…

- Barry…

Barry finished his beer and stared at Oliver.

- Ok, she can hear us, so I'll just say it while she is distracted, singing. You think I didn't notice your smile when she said she would come with us? – Barry spoke fast

- I wasn't… Not like that…

- Its ok, man… I mean, who could blame you?

Oliver thought about it and yes, who could? That he agreed.

- She is… cool – Oliver said as he drank more of his beer – and funny… and not hard to look at…But it doesn't mean anything… Wait – Oliver said as he stared suspiciously at Barry – That's why you were excited for us to meet when she came to help us the first time?

- I was just excited for everyone to meet my cool alien friend from another universe – Barry protested, looking innocent – And maybe you two could get along…

- I knew it…

- I'm not saying anything man… It's just about friends having a good time, getting along… is not like is hard for most women to like you anyways, so…

- Stop it – Oliver laughed

- Am I lying? Sara, Laurel, Felicity, Caitlin… God, even Iris…

- It's… not like that

They both laughed and Oliver turned his attention back to Kara, thinking about how Barry was a funny guy. Ha-ha so funny.

- So you're saying that, if you had the opportunity, you wouldn't ask her out or anything?

Oliver stared at Barry in silence and then back to Kara. He asked himself that question and couldn't help but wonder.

- Ok, I'll tell you this… I am intrigued…

- Ha!

- Before you start having ideas… - Oliver interrupted Barry – I mean… I got intrigued the moment she saved my ass from dying after I was a complete jerk with her. Any other person would slap me…

- At least – Barry commented and noticed the look Oliver gave him – What? Is true…

- The thing is… - He said as he looked at Kara having fun singing on the stage. That sight made him smile – I'm just curious about Kara…

- Uhum…

Barry kept staring at Oliver with his "I know you're full of BS" look and laughed. Kara finished her song and came back to their table.

- This is fun – Kara said as she sat down – excuse me, I'm thirsty after that – She pointed to the stage and borrowed Oliver's beer, drinking a sip of it. – Thanks – she laughed.

- Hey, I need to help Cisco with something – Barry stared at his phone as he looked apologetic and got up, taking his jacket with him.

Oliver stared suspiciously at Barry, knowing for sure Barry didn't get any messages from Cisco. Barry noticed his look and just smiled.

- Just keep having fun, you two… I'll see you guys later.

Barry hugged Kara goodbye and waved at Oliver. He turned around to leave, smiling to himself.

Kara stared at Oliver, taking one more sip from his beer.

- And then, there was only two… - She murmured.

- Yep.

- So, have you thought about what you wanted to ask me?

Oliver stared at Kara thinking how he would kill Barry later, but decided to just get to know more about her and enjoy the company. She told him she was an open book and had no secrets, so ok, he would get something from her, he was determined to.

- Yes, I have.

- Shoot. Just know I'll also ask a few things, Mr. – She smiled defiantly at him, crossing her arms and relaxing on her seat as she crossed her legs.

- Ok. – Oliver gave her the same look, really enjoying the opportunity – Having your…abilities ever got in the way of having any kind of relationship in an embarrassing way?

- Romantic or with friendships and family?

- All.

- Ok… With friends is hard because I have to lie to protect them. I have a best friend, Lena… Sometimes stuff happens and we are having lunch or just hanging out and I have to come up with the lamest excuses to leave and… do my job. With family is easier, they know, so I can be myself around them but in the field… My sister Alex works with me, and sometimes we have dangerous situations that makes us worry with each other, or sacrifices we must do in the name of the greater good, even if is really hard for us… And romantically…

Kara knew she was blushing. She told him she had no secrets and she was mortified inside but he asked, right?

- It stops me from being able to give all of me to someone because I can hurt them… by accident, so I'm always on alert… I don't think I need to be more specific – Kara said as she adjusted her glasses a bit nervously - and there's also this thing of needing to lie to protect them.

- So you have dated humans?

- Yes… I have tried to.

Oliver nodded with his head, thinking about it, completely understanding at least the part about lying to people.

- And you? Being a vigilante and a boyfriend at the same time must be hard…

- It's kind of hard to explain to your date why you need to leave the date in the middle of the night to dress up and play archery… Is not that fun for them.

- It's a hard and lonely life – Kara said

- Have you ever… hurt someone? You're scared of doing that so it must have happened before.

Kara almost spit the beer she stole from Oliver again. He smiled finding it curious how red her cheeks became. This was getting interesting, he thought.

- Sort of… - She said nervously.

- How?

- You… You really want to know?

- Why not? You're an open book – Oliver smiled satisfied with the reaction he got from Kara.

Kara took a deep breath, trying to find the right words to say it.

- Let's just say I accidentally broke the nose of the person…twice

Oliver stared at Kara not quite knowing what to say so he just nodded with his head and took the beer from Kara's hand to drink. He was really thirsty.

- What's a perfect date for you? – Kara asked, thinking about since they were on the romantic topic of the conversation, she would satisfy her curiosity about Oliver Queen. – When you feel like you can have one. Describe it.

- A nice dinner, good talk with great music, we have some connection, if I can tell she feels the same I just let things happen naturally… I don't think I need to tell you the rest…

- Oh, you do. – Kara smiled, really curious about the rest of it. Her elbow rested in the table while her hand supported her cheeks – Don't hide anything, that's the deal, Mr. I want the details.

Oliver leaned in a bit in the table, looking deep into Kara's eyes while his arms brushed hers slightly on the table.

- We go to my place, share a drink, and talk a bit more. I put just the right music to let her more comfortable, I give her a kiss that let her know what I want, but give her enough room to decide what happens next.

Kara felt way too much invested on Oliver's story. His face was a bit closer to hers than before and she felt like only she could hear his words.

- I make sure she's comfortable and sure of her decisions and once we both agree how much we want each other, I go for it.

Kara stared at Oliver, feeling her mouth dry out of sudden. She reached for the glass of water on their table and drank it, feeling well aware of her heart almost skipping a beat.

- That's…nice… - It was all she could say. Hearing all of that made her mind go places she wasn't sure she wanted to go right now. – But… - She was kicking herself mentally for going there, but she couldn't stop herself, she was curious – I think I said I want the details.

She saw the way he looked at her and kept asking herself what in the name of Rao she was thinking. Oliver just raised an eyebrow and stared at Kara, his jacket was suddenly bothering him a lot. He gave her a smirk, knowing exactly what she wanted to know and he asked himself how far she was willing to go with that question game. There was only way to find out. He also wanted to know a few things himself and if she was really an open book, he knew he would get the answers he wanted.

- I do my best… to make sure… she have a night she won't ever forget – He lowered his tone as he stared serious deeply into her eyes, locking her gave with his. His eyes went to her lips as he spoke – And I don't hold back… I make sure to cover every inch of her skin in a way that will make her dream about it for weeks… all in… Now you tell me what needs to happen for you to lose it.

- Why? – She was still a bit dizzy after all she heard from Oliver. She wasn't just curious now, she knew it.

- Everyone has something that makes them lose it, even powerful and beautiful out of this world woman. – But before you answer, let's go for a walk – He smiled, still looking her from up-close.

Maybe Barry was right, maybe it was a good idea for them to get to know each other better. We for sure blamed Barry for this boldness he felt. All he knew was that they couldn't keep talking the way they were in a bar, he needed some air. Kara nodded with her head, thinking about the answer and not sure if she could really fully answer it. She was still thinking about his answer to her question, still feeling more than curious.

Once they left the bar, they started to walk. They stopped at the Central City Park and kept walking until they reached a bench made of rocks by the lake. Kara sat down, staring at the moon and thinking about her answer. She noticed Oliver sat by her side. She looked down the grass and felt her cheeks burning again.

- As you know, I have super hearing, I can notice when people's heart jumps inside their chest… - She noticed she got Oliver's attention and smiled – So their excitement becomes mine too. For a start that's it…

- What makes you break someone's nose?

- Well… I have a sensitive spot… - Kara stared down, not able to stare at Oliver. She was being beyond vulnerable at the moment and that gave her a lot of anxiety. – My neck, near my ears… It's more of a combination of things but that's what makes me don't give a damn anymore…at first. And that's all I'll say about that… - She smiled shyly, making Oliver smile.

- Fair enough… - They stared at each other

- And you? What a person needs to do to… Make you lose it?

Oliver lowered his head and let a quick laugh.

- Right side of the abs, where most people get tickles…

- No way.

- Yes. – He lifted a bit of his shirt, showing her the right spot.

Kara laughed along with him. As they stopped laughing, they kept staring at each other. Kara failed big time trying to stop her eyes from going to his abs. Damn him, she thought. She had a feeling he knew exactly what he was doing.

- Is all about the connection, the passion… - Oliver explained as he saw how close he sat from Kara. – Is not just about the touch. If I feel like the person got my attention and I want to know everything about them, if I'm comfortable enough to want to be close, to not be able to stop wondering what it will be like kissing them, tasting them… That one touch makes me lose it.

- And what's your move to make any woman want you, no matter where you are?

- I just did it – He smiled and Kara felt like losing her balance, because damn it was working because his face was really close to hers - There is a lot of ways of being really intimate with someone… and sometimes words are more efficient than actions.

- You told me all your secrets, Oliver…

- Maybe I can show you. – He whispered as he closed the gap between them, not being able to keep it cool anymore. He told her he didn't hold back, and he didn't lie.

His lips went for hers, full of want. He was dying to know what it was like to taste her lips, feel her embrace, so he went for it, not caring about anything else anymore. He felt her hand on his shirt, pulling him closer, one of his hands went for the back of her neck while the other went for her waist.

- We should get out of here – Kara whispered between their kiss and Oliver stared at her, with a serious look, one of his hands caressing her cheek.

- Are you sure?

- Yes. – She gave him a tiny smile, staring at him in a way that made his heart jump even more.

He nodded with his head, not able to resist her anymore. He got up and held her hand. She got up and he pulled her back to his arms, giving her a deeper kiss than before.

They went back to the hotel he was staying in, since he had a few things to do before going back to Star City and Kara used her super speed as soon as he told him which one was his room.

Oliver reminded himself to thank Barry later, because he was indeed right, once again.
