77. Smitten
The moment Barry Allen showed up and started to talk about aliens invading Earth, was the moment his life was going to change forever, but he had no idea of it at that point and now, he was sure of it.
He stood up, talking to Kara and Barry as they were celebrating their last victory.
Kara Danvers.
She was a new friend, someone they met because of the last crisis, when Dominators decided to crash Central City and Barry came to ask for his help and the other heroes. He told them he knew someone who could help, an alien he met when he accidentally ended up on another Earth.
Multiple Earths was something crazy, and of course they were real. The moment he met Barry Allen, his world turned upside down and he had seen things he would never think it was possible until he saw Barry bringing Kara with him to meet them all and he saw her flying and shooting some sort of lasers with her eyes. That moment he internally lost it. He had no idea how to deal with it and he was conflicted because of his trust issues with everyone basically and mostly, because she was gorgeous, the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. For the first time in days, he was seeing her in her civilian look and after talking to her about hardships and knowing she already saw him as a great leader that inspired others, he was sure, even more than before, he felt something different and that was the last thing he expected to happen.
But yeah, it happened, slowly and torturously.
- Do you guys feel a group hug? – Barry laughed and opened his arms.
Oliver shook his head but as usual, Barry ignored him. He took a look at Kara and saw her laughing and also opening her arms and he couldn't say no to that, so he just welcomed them in his arms, and hugged them. As they let go and Kara turned to talk to Cisco, Oliver just stared at her, completely lost. It was like he forgot how to function. He noticed Barry staring and just shook his head.
- Don't even start it… - He said and Barry laughed
- What? I'm not saying anything… - Barry had a smirk on his face Oliver knew way too well.
- But you thought!
Oliver turned around, with Barry following him. He knew Barry wasn't going to leave him alone anymore.
- What? – Oliver asked
- Nothing… - Barry looked suspiciously innocent – Ok, I'm just glad you guys are good…you guys are good, right? I mean…
- Yes. As you saw, I apologized for being a jerk earlier… I was just…
- Protecting yourself, I know.
- How do you know?
- Oliver, you tried to choke me when I saved your life and found out about your secret. Is your thing, you scare people to death before forming any kind of bond.
- Is… Is not my thing.
- Yes, it is. – Barry laughed. – And is ok, I mean, not the scaring people to death part, that's not fun but… I know why you do this. Is hard for you to trust people, you have a lot of trauma to unpack…Have you considered therapy? They say is great, just saying – Barry added after noticing the look Oliver gave him. – I'm just glad that everything is ok with you and Kara…
- I know this look, stop.
- What's wrong? I mean… You're single; I think she is single…
- Barry I already know someone named Cupid, she is not nice by the way. I don't need another!
- I'm just saying… Everyone deserves to be happy, Oliver… Even guys like us.
Barry smiled and walked away to hug Iris and Oliver stared from them to Kara as she talked to the Smith guy about suggesting the president to assign him to Antarctica. He laughed as he approached her.
- This was fun… not the Dominators part, the…rest – Kara said
- Yes it was. It was really nice to meet you.
- You too. – Kara smiled – If you guys need anything, you know where to find me.
- Same for you.
Sara, Diggle and Barry said their goodbyes to everyone else and approached Oliver and Kara.
- Ready to test it and see if it works? – Barry asked as he pointed to the device on Kara's hands.
- Yes. – Kara nodded – Until next time – She said as she hugged everyone and turned around, going back home.
Oliver and Barry went for a drink after everyone else left and then he went back to Star City. He didn't want to admit it to himself before, but he really enjoyed Kara's visit and was deep down, already missing her.
"What was wrong with him?" He thought.

A few months later, Oliver's life was really messed up. He found out someone he considered a friend was in fact his recent enemy, a psychopath that decided to make his life a living hell. He was tired and really needing some time to think and plan the best way to make his next move and deal with the situation when he got a call from Cisco. Apparently Barry was in a bad place and they didn't know what else to do because Barry and Iris had broken up after being engaged.
- Ok, I'll be there in a moment – He said as he hung up.
Maybe a few moments away would help him clear his mind, he thought as he left to Central City alone.
He stopped by at Cisco's place, where Barry was staying, just to see his friend lay on the couch watching some sort of musical, with a miserable look on his face.
- Barry? What happened?
- Oliver? They called you… I told them not to bother you.
- It's ok, I was needing to get out of the city anyways…
- Something's wrong? – Barry asked a bit worried.
- Nothing I can't handle – Oliver said – So… What happened?
- Iris called off the engagement… I realize now I never told you about it – Barry adjusted to sit properly on the couch – I proposed for the wrong reasons and she found out, she's pissed at me and I think is over… for good.
- Barry, what do you mean for the wrong reasons? What did you do?
Oliver was used by now to hearing crazy stuff happening on Barry's life, and it always turned out to be something way worse than he imagined.
- I accidentally went to the future, saw the big bad we're facing now killed her, so I started to do everything I could to change the future…
- And proposing was one of the things that would cause changes in the future…
- Yes. You're getting good at this.
- Every time we see each other, something happens either in the past or the future, I'm getting used to it. – Oliver said as he sat on a chair across Barry. – Well, do you love her?
- Yes.
- Do you want to marry her?
- Yes.
- So it wasn't for the wrong reasons.
- It's complicated – Barry said…
Barry's phone rang and he answered it, almost jumping from the couch as he heard HR telling him to go to Star Labs as fast as he could. Barry warned Cisco and Oliver and brought them with him, using his super speed and there he was again, going into another unexpected adventure in this crazy world he lived in.
This time around, some weird guy from Kara's Earth jammed her and went looking for Barry to do the same. A guy named J'onn and the other named Mon El brought Kara to Earth 1 to seek help. Oliver couldn't even try to process everything that happened that night, as he went back to Star City because his team needed him to fight Prometheus once and for all and everything was way too crazy anyways. Barry and Kara shared a dream or hallucination where they ended up in a musical world to learn a lesson from a guy called Music Meister. The Mon El guy was Kara's ex that lied to Kara and broke her heart. He knew he didn't like the guy for a reason, he thought.
- Listen, I'll try to vibe you there, let's hope it works, and you can bring them back – Cisco said and he stared at Mon El – I don't think is a good idea for you to go, if she is really that pissed at you… Oliver – He said in a rush – C'mon, hold my shoulder.
- What he can do to help her? – Mon El said, looking a bit annoyed at Oliver.
- I'm her friend. We trust each other. – Oliver said and stared at J'onn – Don't worry, I'll bring her back
Vibing was another new thing Oliver was learning in this crazy life of his, and just like being dragged around at super speed, this was equally unpleasant, but he knew it was necessary. As soon as he entered this dream world, he saw Barry on the ground, shot and Kara rushing to help him. He looked around and didn't think twice, jumping in front of Kara as he noticed she was getting shot. The bullet hit his shoulder and he fell, bringing Kara with him to the ground.
- OLIVER! – She yelled as she held him before he could hit the ground.
She had no powers, so he was really heavy and they ended up falling on the street, with Oliver above her. He did his best to move to her side and Kara reached for his wound on his shoulder.
- Are you crazy? You took a bullet for me! – Kara said in panic.
- I'm used to it – Oliver said – Don't worry, I'll be fine… I had worse in life, believe me – He added, knowing she had an unsure look on her face. – I came here with Iris to help you and Barry out of this place.
Oliver looked at Barry, Iris crying over his body, kissing his lips and in a few seconds, they were gone. Oliver looked at Kara, his heart racing like hell.
- Do you trust me? – Oliver asked her.
- Yes. – Kara said, still holding Oliver in her arms.
Oliver's hand reached for Kara's neck as he brought her lips closer to his, giving her a kiss. This wasn't the way he hoped to do that, he was nervous about her reaction and he would never admit it out loud, but something told him it was going to work. He felt her lips kissing him back, one of her hands on his left cheek, caressing it and he smiled between their kiss.
Oliver could tell they were back in Star Labs, everyone stared at him with questioning looks, Mon El wasn't there anymore and Barry just had a smile on his face.
- What just happened? – J'onn asked, really confused.
- I have no idea. – Oliver said – I mean, it worked – He said as Kara lifted her back from the lab bed and she sat properly on it, feeling her cheeks burning as she stared deep into Oliver's eyes.
- Yes, it did – She said, still staring at him.
Oliver couldn't even try to understand why it worked and process the fact that he kissed Kara, and she kissed him back. He figured she wouldn't want to talk about it in front of everyone, he could tell by the way she stared at him and he just nodded with his head. It was weird, but they could understand each other even in silence.
Oliver's phone started to ring and Oliver saw a message from Diggle, telling him they needed him ASAP back in Star City.
- Do you need our help? ´Barry asked.
- No, it's ok… We got this – Oliver said. – But thanks for offering.
- Are you sure? – Kara asked, getting up from the bed – If it's bad, we can go and back you up.
- I'm sure. – Oliver said.- But… - He added as he noticed the look Kara gave him – If it gets bad, I'll call you two. Ok?
- Ok – Barry said – You better call, Oliver. I'm serious.
- I promise I will.
Oliver said as he left. Kara and Barry looked at each other, with worry.
- I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling about this… - Kara said.
- Me too. – Barry crossed his arms – I'll keep an eye on things, don't worry. – He hugged Kara – And… Mon El?
- He didn't like seeing Oliver kissing you I guess… - Cisco said
- It's ok. – Kara said – I'll talk to him later. And you guys? – Kara asked, staring at Iris and him.
- We'll be ok. – Barry smiled and hugged Kara while J'onn went to get Mon El so they could go back to their Earth.

Later that week, Oliver was chained inside a cell; he had no idea where in the city, with only his pants on, full of bruises, cuts and blood all over his body. Adrien Chase kidnapped him with the help of Thalia Al Ghul and Evelyn Sharpe to torture him and he had no idea why until Chase made it clear he knew Oliver wasn't a hero that he liked killing and he wouldn't let him go until he admitted. Oliver felt like days passed, he was tired, bleeding, but he wouldn't give what that lunatic wanted.
There was a loud noise nearby and Chase ran to check what happened when something came flying fast towards him and when Oliver blinked twice to try to see what was happening, he saw Adrien being thrown across the room and his back hitting the wall.
- Stand down! – Oliver heard Kara's voice and she sounded really angry.
- What… are you? – Chase asked as he got up slowly from the ground.
He tried to hit her with a punch and Kara's hand blocked his fist halfway and he yelled in pain. The impact was like hitting concrete and he was sure he broke a few bones. He tried to fight her but barely had any time to make any move; Kara lifted him by the collar while she threw him to the other side of the room again. Evelyn Sharpe came running; trying to help Adrien, but Kara used her super speed to knock her down in seconds. She turned her attention back to Chase.
- Who are you? – He asked, furious but scared at the same time. He had never seen anything like that before.
- I'm Supergirl! And you're hurting someone I care about.
Kara was furious, Oliver could see it. She walked slowly towards Chase and her eyes glowed so bright, it was hard to look directly at it. Kara used her heat vision on the chains, freeing Oliver. She rushed to grab Chase by the collar again, this time; she brought him up in the air with her.
- I have a special place for people like you on my Earth…
- Your Earth? What…
- I'm not from this universe. You'll get to see it for yourself.
- I won't go anywhere with you, I'll kill you. – Chase tried to grab Kara's throat and she held him with one hand, and flew fast with him, punching her way through the wall, opening huge holes so they could get through until they were outside.
- You can't kill me! I'm an alien; maybe I'll thro you in space… Or send you to the Phantom Zone; I guess you'll like it there. – Kara said as she punched him hard enough for him to get knocked out.
Kara used her super speed to tie Chase down in a way he wouldn't be able to escape when he wake up.
- He's all yours! – Kara said as she saw J'onn approaching them – Thanks for coming.
- I'll bring him to the DEO. He won't be able to escape there or hurt anyone again.
- I'll check on Oliver.
Oliver just lay on the ground, trying to breath at a regular pace. Kara came in a hurry, helping him getting up.
- Come with me… - She said as she held him effortlessly and helped him stand – It's ok, J'onn took him to the DEO. He won't be able to hurt you or anyone else.
- Thank… you – Oliver said in a whisper.
- Do you want to go home? Or to your bunker?
- No.. I…
Oliver felt really tired. He couldn't bare the idea of getting so many questions from everyone in his team or deal with anything at the moment.
- I need to get away from here… For now – It was all he could say before collapsing on Kara's arms.

Oliver opened his eyes slowly; he felt a sharp pain on his back, on his abs, on his chest. He tried to get up and felt a hand on his chest, keeping him from getting up. He looked around and noticed he was in a bedroom that was not his. He lifted his head just to see Kara wearing a cute blue pajama and a low ponytail. She had a cup of what it looked like hot tea, at least it smelled like it.
- Here… - She offered it to him as she sat by his side, her hand still in his chest – It will help you relax.
- Thank you – He drank it and let the cup on the bedside table. – For… everything.
- Oliver, why didn't you let us help before?
- Because you guys had a lot in your plate, I knew it and I should be able to deal with threats on my city… I've been doing it for many years…
- I know. And you are a great hero. But sometimes, even the greatest heroes need help. – She said, giving him a soft smile.
- How did you know where to find me?
- Barry told me your team tried to find you for days, Barry also tried and nothing, so they came to my Earth and I came here with J'onn. Thea told us what was happening, and about this lunatic and what he did to your city… I flew around and used my super hearing… That's when I heard you scream.
Oliver lowered his head, remembering every single torture Chase did to him.
- Thank you for saving me – Oliver said
- You did the same for me not so long ago…You took a bullet for me Oliver, I would rush to save your life any day, no matter what.
Oliver smiled back at her, remembering the day he saved her was also the day he kissed her and he felt warmth inside of his chest again, even with all the pain he was in.
- Where am I?
- In my apartment. You didn't want to go home or to your bunker and I brought you here, to give you time to recover. We contacted your team and Thea; we told them you're safe here.
- Yes, I am. – He smiled, staring into Kara's eyes.
- You can stay here as long as you need.
Oliver nodded with his head. It meant the world what Kara did for him because he was almost breaking for good, he was at the verge of a precipice and he knew it. Another hour there and he didn't even want to think what would happen. Chase was gone for good, locked in another universe with no way of coming back to his city to terrorize his family and friends, and that alone made him feel a huge relief. Things were bad now, he knew, but he also knew it would get better.
Kara helped taking care of his bruises and in a few days, it stopped hurting so bad. He was finally able to stand and walk without feeling that awful sharp pain he felt before and he was glad for it. It was a bit late and Oliver heard the shower on. He lay in her bed, staring at the ceiling and lost in his thoughts, with grey sweatpants on and a white shirt. Things were finally looking brighter after days of darkness inside of him. He stared at the door and saw Kara standing there, drying her hair as she came closer and sat on the edge of the bed.
- Are you ok?
- Yes… Now I am – Oliver said as he sat with his back on the headboard – I'm finally feeling like myself again…at least a bit like myself…
- Oliver… what happened? – Kara looked worried at him – I mean, why that guy was so obsessed with you and doing all of those awful things?
- They didn't tell you?
- No… They told me that when you were ready, you would tell me. If you're not ready to talk about it, is ok…
- No, is ok. I am. – He smiled, feeling a really good feeling inside, for the first time in years.
Any other person would be bombarding him with questions the moment they left that awful place Chase kept him in. He really appreciated her understanding it and giving him space. He had time to process what happened before and when he was kidnapped and was finally coming to terms with his past, knowing he wasn't the killer he once was.
- I've struggled with my dark past for years. It came back to haunt me this year. Chase is the son of a guy that I killed in my first year back to Star City, after the island I was stranded in for 5 years. I was a different person back then, I was actually a monster. I started my crusade alone but when people started to join me like Diggle, Felicity, Thea, Laurel, Roy… They brought me to light; they inspired me to be a better person and to find a better way to help my city. This entire thing with Chase just put everything under perspective for me. And for a moment there, for a brief moment, he almost broke me. He wanted so badly for me to admit that I enjoyed being a killer, he got obsessed with it. And recently, I learned that I was stronger than his will to break me.
- Hardships make us stronger – Kara said and Oliver nodded.
- Yes, that was in my subconscious and I remembered it.
- I'm sorry you went through it all... You didn't deserve that.
- Maybe I did… For a while at least. But I know who I am now. You got there just in time for me to not forget that, so thank you again.
- Like I've said before, you did the same for me. It was the least I could do…
Oliver remembered when he took a bullet for her, he kissed her so he could bring her out of that hallucination thing, the same way Iris saved Barry and it worked, he was able to get her back and apparently, everyone had seen them kiss, including her ex. He was curious about a lot of things, especially because he remembered the way she kissed him back that day and that kiss haunted his dreams, almost every night.
- About that…
He wasn't sure if he should mention it, but he had to know.
- After… everything – Oliver said, noticing her blushing – How were things around here? They told me what happened… About Mon El. Are you ok?
- I am ok now – She smiled, using his words, making him smile back at her – I mean, it was hard… We dated for a few months and I found out he lied to me. His planet and mine… didn't get along. They had a way of living that was really bad. His parents were the king and queen of Daxam…
- He's a prince?
- Yes. And he lied to me about who he was. I understand now he did it because he knew the way I feel about his family and he was afraid of the way I would react. That hallucination showed me that and I understood it. But I couldn't be with him anymore. I know he didn't want to hurt me but… What can we do when the trust is lost and the feelings are gone?
- We move on. – Oliver said and Kara looked at him, surprised – I've been there – He added – We move on and find a way to learn how to trust again.
- Yes, we do… - Kara lowered her head and scratched the back of her neck, feeling nervous all of a sudden.- So… I'm ok now. – Kara smiled and got up but didn't walk away, just stood by his side.
- And… About what happened… When you brought me back…
Oliver looked up and noticed her cheeks turning red and some sort of nervousness on her tone. He stared at her with curiosity.
- We never talked about that kiss - She said - I don't think we'll ever understand what happened but… I can't stop thinking about it.
- Me neither – Oliver said, getting up as she took a step closer to him.
- I want to kiss you again – She said, staring at him with pure fire in her eyes as her lips crashed his lips.
Oliver kissed her back right away, holding her closer to his body, with one of his hands caressing her back and the other on the back of her neck. He reached for her ponytail, letting it lose, feeling her hair falling down in a cascade. He strongly held a few strands of the hair on the back of her neck. Kara reached for the bottom end of his shirt and helped him get rid of it. He tossed it on the ground and Kara kissed him again, guiding him to sit back on the bed. Oliver grabbed her by the waist, turning her around to slowly lay her back on the mattress as his body covered hers.
He felt attracted to her the moment they hugged at their celebration after their victory against the Dominators, and since their first kiss, he knew he was damned. The sweet taste of her lips against his was something he couldn't stop thinking about it and his heart was racing a lot since he heard her telling him she wanted more. He would gladly comply, dying to feel her skin against his, the softness of her touch and the taste of her lips. She turned them around effortlessly, kissing down his neck, feeling his muscles contract under her touch on his abs. He held her neck, bringing her face back up, capturing her lips with his as he deepened the kiss, feeling her hands all over his body as they got rid of the rest of their clothes.
Oliver's heart was slamming against his chest and he was sure she could hear it loud and clear, as he felt every inch of her skin against his and it was the best feeling of the world, he thought. Oliver held her by the waist, rolling them around once again, pressuring his body against hers as he kissed her neck, feeling her hands back on his back and all over his body. He slightly bit her neck, near her shoulders and near the base of her ear.
- I want you – He said it in a low and deep tone that gave her chills down her spine.
- Then take me – She whispered to his ear and he could feel her smile against his skin.
Oliver kissed her full of passion as he did it. He looked into her eyes and smiled between their kisses, loving each of her responses to him.
That was the moment he was sure.
He was beyond smitten by her.
He was falling completely in love with her.
