Wasteland. What a correct term for it. Literally a wasteland out here.

I contemplated as I looked at my surroundings from a high cliff, just after exiting the cavern.

Looking at the map on my Pip-boy, to the left of me was a town called Springvale pre-war, which seemed pretty much destroyed to ruin now.

To my right was some kind of town or settlement, surrounded by large metal walls that were possibly made from scrap-metal of airplanes, from which I can see the airplane's engine sticking out from here.

Guess Imma head to that settlement to gather some information first then.

I started heading down the cliff and toward the weird scrap-metal settlement.

Arriving at what looks like the entrance, I saw a Protectron guarding the settlement. It seems to be on a scripted program as it only welcomed me and did not answer any questions or reply back.

"Welcome to Megaton. The bomb is perfectly safe. We promise. Have yourself a nice visit, partner."

The 'bomb'?

Megaton —

Ohhh, the bomb.

Now it's clear to me. The bomb that the Protectron said before was right at the center of the town.

Fuck me. What the hell is that Atomic bomb doing right in the middle of the town? Is it still active?

As I was contemplating the bomb, a voice greeted me.

"Well I'll be damn, another newcomer. And damn, you're huge. Name's Lucas Simms, town Sheriff. And the Mayor too, when the need arises. I don't know why, but I like you, boy. Something tells me you're alright, so welcome to Megaton. Just holler if you need something."

I just nodded, "Thanks."

"The quiet type huh. Well at least you're polite. Might help keep you out of trouble. I hope you're not a weirdo. Got enough of those already. Also hope you're not one of those psychotic quiet types too."

I just shrugged.

"So, is there anything else I can do for you?"

I nodded, "Looking for my father. Asian middle-age male, silver hair and beard, wearing Vault Suit and lab coat over it."

"Sorry. I have enough fires to put out in this place that I don't have time to keep tabs on every visitor. Best ask around town. Actually, you might wanna check with Moriarty in the Saloon. Just watch yourself though, that man's trouble."

I looked at the bomb and asked him.

"What happened to that bomb? Is it still armed? Active?"

Lucas shook his head.

"Don't know. It was there long before I was here."

"No one ever tries to take a look at it? To see if it's still active and disarm it for safety?"

"I don't trust the locals to tinker with it. Besides, most people don't realize the danger of it. And hell, Crombell and those crazies from the Church Of Atom, they worship the damn thing.

I could probably disarm it, but Lucas might not agree to let a stranger do anything with the bomb.

"Could you tell me the layout of the town?"

"Sure. Following the entry path to the bottom of the depression, the Megaton clinic will be on the right and The Brass Lantern, a place to eat, on the left. Following the stair right next to the clinic will get you to Craterside Supply, where you can trade for supplies. Continuing on the stairs from there, you'll get to Moriarty's Saloon, and past that will be the residence area."

I nodded at him, "Thank you."

"No problems. Have a good visit."

Lucas bid me goodbye and went on his way.

Should get to Craterside first. This jumpsuit combined with my stature attracted too much attention.

Craterside Supply —

"Welcome to Craterside Supply! Wow, we've got ourself a big customer this time"

Immediately after entering the shop, I was greeted enthusiastically by a female, potentially the owner as there were only two people in the shop, her and another guy who was leaning on the wall and observing me, possibly a guard.

The girl has auburn hair, tied into a ponytail. She was of average height, a bit skinny. Her face was pretty, if a bit naive.

Upon noticing my Vault Suit, she immediately became excited.

"Wait, are you a Vault Dweller? It's been years since I've seen one of you. What Vault did you come from?"

I just stared at her in silence. Isn't it a bit too much to ask for personal information like that?

The woman seemed to notice that as well and scratched her head awkwardly.

"Oops, sorry, my bad. I was too excited, hehe. My name's Moira. Moira Brown. Nice to meet you. I run Craterside Supply, but what I do is mostly tinkering and researching."

Looks like we've got ourself an airhead here. Well at least she was friendly though.

I nodded at her greeting and said.

"I need supplies and a change of clothes if you have it."

Moria nodded, "Of course. We have almost everything you need here. Take a look yourself."

Moria then passed me a paper with a list of items on it.

I don't need much of the supplies, considering I already prepared plenty back in the Vault. I don't have enough caps for the good guns and I also have a 10mm pistol with around 70 bullets already.

I wanted to look toward the armor and clothes category, but decided against it. I'll bet any armor and clothes here will not fit me.

I shook my head while handing the list back to Moira.

"Nothing I need in there. Can you make clothes and armor?"

Moira nodded her head.

"I sure can. Clothes are easy. Armor on the other hand is a bit tricky. I can only make simple armor though, like padding and such,"

I nodded my head, took out a piece of paper from my backpack and gave it to Moira.

"It's fine. Here's the design I want. How long will it take for you to make them?"

Moira looked at my design and contemplated a bit.

"Hmm… It'll depend on how long I get the material though."

"I have here a bunch of Vault Suits, all my size. Can you scrap them all for material and make a new set of clothes for me?"

I took out all of my Vault Suits inside my backpack, a total of 7 of them.

Moira's eyes lit up at that.

"Oh then that'll be quick then. Come back in a week and I'll be done. How many do you need?"

"Only 4. One for wearing and 3 to spare. I reckon you can make 4 of them with only 5 suits, right? The other two will be the payment for it. The material is quite good considering it's a Vault Suit."

Moira laughed at that.

"I see you're a good bargaining person. Even though it was close to not making any profit at all, you're right. Alright, I accept it."

I then proceed to sell all of my collected batons inside the Vault, also Butch's Tunnel Snakes jacket too.

I made a total of around 100 caps selling them all.

"Do you have a suppressor for a 10mm pistol?"

"Why yes. I actually just got 2 of them, but forgot to put it down on my list. 50 caps for one."

I nodded, "I'll take one."

While Moira was putting away the items I sold her, I looked around and found a really big, dark brown trench coat, hanging right behind the counter table. I pointed at it and asked Moira.

"Is that trench coat for sale too?"

Moira looked at it and said.

"Hmm… I don't intend to sell it and just hang it there for decoration, also because it was too big and no one can wear it. Lemme take it off for you to try it on and we'll see."

She took off the trench coat and handed it over to me.

I put it on and it fit me almost perfectly. A bit too tight for me, as it was still considered a bit smaller than my size, but it did not affect my movement, only show off my muscle clearly through the fabric.

"Well, it fits ya. I got this one from one of the traders a long time ago. He stumbled upon a corpse wearing it at a sniping outpost right outside of a bunker somewhere in the Mojave Wasteland. All the other parts of the armor were already ruined, only this trench coat remain."

I really like this one. Its length was down to just above my knee. It has a high collar, thick and durable. Made from good material as far as I can tell.

"How much for this?"

"It's 300 caps. A bit expensive, but you should know why the price is that high, as that coat was very well made with good material."

Hmm. If I bought this then I'll only be left with 100 caps. Oh well, I can always make some more caps I guess.

Just As I was about to pay her, Moira said,

"Actually, I could discount it down to 150 caps for ya if you agree to answer a question of mine."

I looked at her for a bit.

"Details."

"I'm working on a book about the Wasteland. It'll be great to have a foreword by a Vault Dweller. Just tell me what it's like to live underground all your life, or how it felt to come out for the first time. Anything that strikes your fancy at all will do."

This I can answer as it will not affect me in any negative way. Good deal, so I agreed.

"I can't answer for the others, but for me personally, it was like living in a cage, or a prison. Sure it got everything we needed. Clean water, good food, no danger beside the Radroaches, but everything was determined by the Overseer. Think of the Overseer as your dictator. What he says goes."

I crossed my arms and continued.

"That's why I wanted to leave the Vault. I will never trade my freedom for a safe life but caged like a prisoner. "

Moira was writing down everything I just said in her notebook.

"Wow, never thought I'd get an answer like that. Thank you… Oh right, sorry, I did not hear your name before?"

""Cause I never said it. It's Kenji. Kenji Takemura."

"Right. Thank you Kenji. You can have the coat for only 100 caps. It was a good and unique answer so I'll give you an even more discount. I'll offset it from the 100 caps for all your stuff you sold me. You only need to pay me 50 cap for this silencer and we're good."

I paid her for the silencer and took it, placed it on my 10mm pistol.

She then continued.

"Now, would you be willing to help me with writing the book?"

"Afraid I'm not a good writer."

"No no, not help me write it. Help me gather information and materials for me to write it myself."

"What will it entail?"

"It will involve some radiation, testing devices, reading some books. All sorts of things I guess."

"What about payment?"

"I can pay you with caps, meds, chems, maybe a little bit of my own invention, if you do a good job. Interested?"

It's a good deal, considering I need to earn some caps too. I agreed, but added a condition to Moira.

"Alright, but if I deem the task was too much or too dangerous, I'll have the option to decline it."

Moira nodded her head happily.

"Done. Don't worry, none of it will bring you harm… maybe… possibly."

I sighed. I started to regret my decision now.

"Now, it's a dangerous place out here in the Wasteland. People could really use a compilation of good advice. Like a Wasteland Survival Guide. I need you to test my theories. Wouldn't want anyone to get hurt by a mistake."

I just stared at her.

"What about me?"

"Oh you'll be fine. I have faith in you."

I just facepalmed at this airhead.

"Just tell me the details first."

"Alright then. Now the first chapter will have to be about surviving day-to-day dangers. Where to find food safely, the danger of radiation. Also how to avoid and even profit from landmines."

The landmines could get dangerous and the radiation was a bit tricky, but doable.

"Alright, give me information on what I need to do then."

"Right. For the good problem, I need you to travel to the old Super-Duper Mart not far from here and check for foods and medicines in it. For radiation poisoning, I need you to get a bit of radiation poisoning. Not a deadly dose, just a low or if possible, a bit of a high dose of it. Don't worry, I've got my homemade concoction right here to fix you right up. The last one was landmines. If you're quick enough, you can disarm one before it blows and you can sell it for plenty of caps. I heard a story about a ghost town that is full of mines. Trader called it 'Minefield'. It is a bit to the north-northeast across the Potomac River. Here, let me show you the location on the map."

Moira finished and fished out a map of the Capital Wasteland and pointed to the location of the Minefield and the Super-Duper Mart.

I already memorized the location, but I'll mark it down onto my Pip-boy map later.

"I need you to go there, find some landmines and disarm it then get back to me. I'll buy all the landmines you got from there so good luck with that. It is called a 'Ghost town' as there's nobody living there anymore, but a 'Ghost' will attack you when you are there so be careful. For the Super-Duper Mart mission, anything you find there you can keep. I just need information, that's all."

"I think I could help you with the radiation poisoning first. My dad was a doctor and I studied it a bit when I was in the Vault."

Moira's eyes lit up at that then immediately took out her notebook.

"Tell me everything you know! Now!"

I sweat dropped at that.

Someone's excited.

"Here's what I know. Radiation is harmful to living organisms, especially humans. Exposure to radiation almost invariably causes health complications, with their severity depending on the level of exposure. Symptoms include blood pooling in the gums, anemia, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, violent hemorrhages, loss of hair, teeth, and skin, gastrointestinal bleeding, bloat, diarrhea, and ultimately, death. Even if treated, radiation exposure can also lead to persistent mutations at a genetic level. It can also lead to sterility."

"Wow, so many big words. This will be good material for when I write the book. Thank you."

"Alright. I'm heading out now."

"Goodluck Kenji, stay safe out there."

Alright. Time to head to the Saloon and find out information about my dad.

The Saloon was quieter than I imagined, considering this is a pub/inn.

The only conversation I heard was from the counter. A raspy voice, like someone that smokes 50 cigarettes a day sounds like.

"Aggh! Come on, you piece of junk. Everyday is the same damn thing."

That must be a ghoul then. Appearance resembling rotting corpses, burn victims, or walking corpses with a raspy voice.

The girl standing right in front of the counter said to the ghoul.

"I told you, Gob, it ain't the Radio. The Enclave Station come in fine. It's Galaxy News. Their Signals have been shit lately."

I walked toward the ghoul named Gob, if I heard the girl called him correctly, and greeted him. He noticed me and greeted me.

"Hey, smoothskin, you need something? A drink maybe? Anything? Anything at all?"

"Nothing for now, Gob, thank you. I'd like some information if possible."

Gob apparently was surprised at that.

"Wait… you're not going to hit me? Yell at me? Not even berate me a little bit?"

I looked at him, confused.

"... would I do that?"

"Well now, that's a surprise! I'm used to every asshole smoothskin in this town giving me shit just because I look like a corpse. Glad to see there're still worthwhile people around here."

"Everyone is unique and different. I judge people based on their character, not their appearance."

"Thank you for that. Look, Moriarty will have my head if he caught me giving me a discount. But for you, I'll risk it."

"Appreciate it. I'm looking for my father. Asian middle-age male, silver hair and beard, wearing Vault Suit and lab coat over it."

"Oh yeah, I do remember a guy like that coming here just a day ago. You should talk to Moriarty, he'll know more."

Damn, so he was gone for a day already. By now he could be anywhere.

I sighed and looked at Gob again.

"Lok Gob, it's my dad and I really need to find him. Important thing. He's also the only family left for me. If you know anything at all, I'd really appreciate any information at all."

Gob was reluctant at first, but my persuasion skill combined with how I treated him fairly, Gob decided to tell me.

"Look, you don't hear this from me. Moriarty keeps a computer terminal at the back. It contains all of what's going on in Megaton."

I nodded at him and put down 5 caps for him.

"Thank you Gob."

I then walked away and out of the Saloon.

It's almost night time already. Guess I'll wait until midnight and sneak into the back of the Saloon.

Megaton, midnight that day —

Seriously, the lock here is so simple. Anyone with knowledge of lockpicking can easily unlock these.

I unlocked the door at the back of the Saloon and entered the back room, where Moriarty kept his terminal.

After unlocking it, I copy all of the information the terminal has to my Pip-boy then just get out of there.

After I got out of the Saloon, I went to the railing just outside of Craterside Supply and started checking my finding.

There it is. Visitors: James (Vault 101):

"So, out of nowhere, James came back to Megaton. Since he stayed here before he asked me where the hell he could get a lay of the land and find out what's going on in the world. I told him about Galaxy News Radio in the ruins of D.C., and that guy Three Dog. Then like that, he was gone again. I remember the first time he showed up almost twenty years ago. I never expected someone to actually want to or be able to get INTO a vault, but he must have had his reasons. He had his kid with him, some big baby. Normally I would have kicked someone like that out of my place, but he had a way with words. Then, like that, he ducks into Vault 101 and he's gone for almost twenty years. Nice guy I guess, but never spends enough caps."

Hmm. so dad wanted to find out what's going on in the world, now that he was gone for almost twenty years.

Not much else is useful for me so I deleted all of the other files and just kept the file with information on my dad.

I looked up at the sky and contemplated what I should do and where should I go now.

Oh yeah, I still haven't listened to the holotape I found in the Vault.

Opening my Pip-boy, I loaded up the Home-sweet-home tape first.

'Well, here we are. Nestled all safe and snug inside Vault 101. It's so cold down here. Colder still with Catherine gone... Oh, Catherine... I so wish you were here with me. How the hell am I supposed to do this by myself? Live down in this hole. Take care of our child... But this is our life now, so I guess I'd better get used to it. The Overseer who runs the place is an overbearing bully, but I've dealt with worse.'

Me too dad, me too. I wish mom was still here with us. Alright, let's load up the tape that dad left for me.

'"Hold on Jonas, I need to record this first."

"I don't really know how to tell you this. I hope you'll understand, but I know you might be angry. I thought about it for a long time, but in the end I decided it was best for you not to know. So many things could have gone wrong, and there's really no telling how the Overseer will react when he finds out. It's best if he can blame everything on me. Obviously, you already know that I'm gone. It was something I needed to do. You're an adult now. You're ready to be on your own. Maybe some day, things will change and we can see each other again. I can't tell you why I left or where I'm going. I don't want you to follow me. God knows life in the Vault isn't perfect, but at least you'll be safe. Just knowing that will be enough to keep me going."

"Don't mean to rush you, Doc, but I'd feel better if we got this over with."

"Okay. Go ahead. Goodbye. I love you."'

So it just confirmed what I suspected.

I sighed, then looked at the sky again.

Seriously though, if dad left me in the Vault and went by himself, he must have some purpose himself. He got his life and I got mine. He survived the Wasteland fine before I was even born so I shouldn't worry about him. Still… I'll try to find him if I've got the chance.

I then looked around at the buildings, houses and everything in Megaton.

Still, this's worst than I thought. You'd think that after 200 years, people would have started rebuilding the world already. Even the worst environment I've experienced in my past life can barely compare to this.

I sighed.

Well, no point crying over spilled milk. Let's just make the best out of what I've got. I should stay here for a while, helping people and doing some jobs, if anyone has some for me, to earn some caps, stock up some supplies and prepare for my adventure.

Exploring and adventuring was one of my hobbies and passions. If not for the organization always gave me missions after missions, I'd have explored the world all the time back then.

Seriously though, what are the chances that I was reincarnated into another world, identical to my world but at the same time different. Wonder if this is what would happen to my world if the events in the history was the same.

I stood back up from where I was leaning on the railing.

Alright, let's finish Moira's job for me first, then we'll continue from there.

Springvale —

Well, that was a waste of time.

When I got out of Megaton, I remembered Springvale was just nearby so I thought I should do a little exploring there to see if I can scavenge somethings.

The town was in ruin, nothing left of it except for the house's frame here and there.

For some reason, there's an Eyebot flying back and forth, broadcasting the Enclave message. It's not hostile so I left it alone.

There's a house that looked like someone was living there though, but I adhered to my motto, 'Mind your own business', I left it alone too.

Continuing north, I found S.E.S, Springvale Elementary School.

From the outside, the roof and the left side of the school was destroyed. The right side, which has the main entrance, survived..

There was a problem though. Raiders.

I could feel the presence of three of them at the left side of the school.

After inspecting from afar, there's one raider on the second floor and two more patrolling around one on the first floor and one in the basement floor.

I hid at the wall right next to the hole that was the entrance inside there and waited until the raider that was patrolling the first floor came near and threw a small stone to the opposite side of me to distract him.

When he passed the entrance and had his back toward me, I quickly lunged at him from behind and twisted his neck, killing him silently.

Now is the tricky part. The one on the second floor had a pistol and was on high ground and has a clear view of the hole entrance, so he could easily spot me if I ran in.

I made my voice a little raspy and shouted, "H-Help me!"

Then I immediately threw the corpse of the raider I just killed right at the hole. If the raider on the second floor looks at the entrance, he can only see one arm and the head.

Just as I expected, both of the raiders went to check what's happening for their mate to fell down like that.

"Hey bitch, ya alright there?"

"What happened?"

Just as they were near the entrance, I pulled the trigger of my 10mm pistol two times and planted the bullets right at their head, killing them immediately.

.32 pistol huh. Crappy gun, but could sell for caps.

After I threw the three bodies to the corner and hid them with some tables and chairs, I entered the school through the basement's door.

Just as I thought. They guarded the back entrance 'cause it led to their warehouse.

There were three raiders down here. Taking advantage of the hallway, corner and they're not together all the time, I quickly dispatched the raiders.

I found a bunch of drugs here. Jet, Buffout, Psycho etc. but nothing else.

I also found a locked door. This lock was much better than Moriarty's backdoor lock, but still easy for me to unlock.

Now I know why they locked this door and blocked the hole in the other room that led to this room. It was full of Giant Ant. It also looks like someone was trying to mine or digging something here.

Even though it was a bit dangerous, I got my silenced 10mm pistol here and with my stealth skill, I could take them out one by one, without the other noticing and start to mobbing me with a bunch of them.

What's going on here? They're digging for something? As I cannot see anything of value or some kind of ore or mineral for them to build this tunnel to mine.

As I proceeded through the short tunnel and killed a few of the Giant Ants, I arrived at a big cave at the end. Their nest should be nearby.

Alright, that's gonna be a problem. The four of them all clustered with each other. Guess it time to face them head on then. Luckily, in this lifetime I got blessed with this body of mine.

They're indeed 'giant' to the others, as the Giant Ants was the size of a big dog, or a small horse. But to me, they're like a bit too big of a puppy.

I carefully aim at one Giant Ant and end its life with a bullet to the head. If I hit them in the head, they died in one shot, the other part of them must take more.

The other three ants saw their friend died and immediately started looking around for the culprit.

I finished the second one with a bullet to its head too, but by this time, the remaining two spotted me and crawled toward me, their mandibles chittering threateningly.

I shot my pistol at the third one, but this time it hit its leg, which slowed it down but did not kill it. I shot two more times at its abdomen and finished it.

By now the last ant had already reached me and lunged at me. I stepped back to avoid it, then reached out my hand and held it up by its thorax. I then used my other hand and pulled its head right out of its body.

"Ughh! Damn it. I'll never do this again, it stinks so bad."

I didn't think of what would happen when I did that. Its 'blood', or as the scientist called it, hemolymph, was spraying all over me.

Fuck it. I'll just use one or two purified bottles later to wash my coat. I can drink boiled irradiated water safely anyhow, considering my high resistance to radiation and heal from it.

After dispatching all of the ants in the nest, I looked around and found their nest and lots of their eggs to the left of the cave. I also found the bodies of two wastelander there.

At least I avenged you. Rest in peace.

Right then, I spotted the barrel of a gun under one of the two corpses. My eyes lit up.

Lucky! It's an Assault Rifle, with two full magazines too. The condition is a bit bad, but after I repair it a bit, it'll function perfectly.

If I remember correctly, Craterside Supply has a workbench in it. I should ask Moira if I can rent it to use myself later.

I strapped my new found AR on my sling in front of my chest and happily went back, seeing as nothing of use there.

There's also nothing else in the basement level, so I took the stairs back up to the ground floor of the school.

Wow, the Raider sure is sick and a scourge. Maybe not just them. This world sure is fuck up.

On my way exploring the school, I saw many corpses, some missing limbs, some missing legs, almost all of them was naked, that were hung up to the ceiling from the chain, skeletons that were left in the cages and many other atrociously action of them.

No point thinking of it. It is what it is, Should get used to it.

One of my strong points is my adaptability. I can survive and learn to live in almost any environment and adapt to them.

I continued making my way through the school's upper level while killing any raiders I encountered.

I encountered a problem after passing through the library though. There was a dog guarding there. Maybe because I was still new to the Wasteland, my smell was especially more noticeable so the dog found me right when I was sneaking inside the library.

It barked a few times then ran toward me, trying to bite my legs.

I sighed, as I don't want to kill the dog. I like dogs and cats very much.

I raised my right leg and gave it a hard kick to its head. The dog flew right to my left side, slid through the floor a bit and collided with a bookshelf. It was lying there, dead, its neck was twisted and broken.

Hey, I said I like dogs and cats, but did not say that I'll not kill them if they try to kill me.

It also puzzled me as to why the dogs caused a bit of a commotion, but no one came. I could feel the presence of the last two raiders right through the library.

I started to make my way to the door, and right then, I heard it.

"Harder! Harder you limp dick. You call this a fuck? Even a kid can do better than this."

"Fucking bitch, you asking for it. I'll drill a hole right through your dirty womb and impregnate you right now!"

I froze right then. For the love of god, of all the time it could happen, of all the things they could've done right now, it was this shit.

Well, at least that explains why they did not hear the dog barking.

I carefully pushed the door open and came to a corridor. The last two riders were right there, at the end of the corridor, to the right side, pass a terminal and a table with some ammunition box on it.

I sighed, then raised my pistol and ended their lives. Well, at least it was a mercy for them to be passed on while feeling the pleasure.

Let's see what's in this terminal.

Feeling no other presence in the building, I proceeded to take a look at the terminal.

Seems like the raiders here were attempting to dig a tunnel to raid Vault 101. They're stupid enough to use explosives and cause some cave-in.

They were also unlucky enough to dig right through the Giant Ant nest, which caused seven deaths of their digger. After that the leader locked the door while finding someway to deal with the ants, potentially poisoning them.

Guess their most unlucky thing was that I was curious and wanted to explore the school.

After finishing with the terminal, I looted the ammunition box and found a bit of 10mm and 5.56mm rounds. Not much, but enough to fill one or two more magazines.

I then headed back to the nest and started to harvest some of the ant meat from their corpses, then started a fire and grilled them to eat.

I should save all of my canned meat whenever I can,for emergencies only.

After having Grilled Ant Meat meal, I found a relatively clean bed and spent a few hours to sleep until morning.

Super-Duper Mart —

I arrived at the Mart when morning came. The Mart was lucky enough to survive the bomb fell, as it was still very much intact.

Seems like the raiders already made this place their hideout.

There're corpses hung right in front of the Mart. Two raiders were kicking and smacking the Nuka Cola vendor machine. Probably the designated ones for guarding the entrance.

I snuck up on them from behind and quickly dispatching them, I entered the Mart.

Hmm, a total of five of them in here. Let's start with the isolated one on the left.

The raider was doing drugs inside a restroom so it was easy to kill him. There are two raiders who were patrolling up on top of the shelves in the middle of the Mart and two more who were conversing with each other at the back behind a counter, right opposite of the entrance.

I waited for the two patrollers to go back to the far end of the Mart, then sniped the two who were chatting with each other with my pistol.

I then snuck up on the two patrollers one by one and finished them off.

Crappy armor and almost all melee weapons. These raiders are so poor. I've only got a sawed off shotgun and a few 12 gauge. Hopefully this place at least has foods and medicines as Moira said.

Turns out Moira was right. There were so many foods here, especially canned food, and meds and chems, though not as much. Guess this's why the raiders were choosing this place as their hideout and have two guards outside and two more patrolling back and forth inside.

Now let's see if the warehouse contains anything good. Hopefully the raiders leave something.

Sometimes I forget that most people in this world are uneducated… well, this's raiders we're talking about, they're born stupid.

The door to the warehouse was locked and can only be opened by the nearby terminal. Most raiders are not smart enough to hack the terminal, and I'll bet the password was already lost in time.

Not a problem for me though.

The warehouse was a jackpot place. How no one had ever found and looted this place is beyond me.

There are miscellaneous items like leather, medical equipment, medicines, lots of canned food, but the most important thing is quite a few baskets of Nuka-Cola and Nuka-Cola Quantum.

Even back then in the Vault, Nuka-Cola was rare. The machine making Nuka-Cola was broken down some generations ago. Until my generation there were only few left and that bastard of an Overseer hogged it all, using it to distribute to whomever was loyal to him as some kind of reward.

I was able to snuck in and stole 1 for was good, but not to the point of amazing. Guess over time it can't compare to the original Nuka-Cola produced pre-war.

Let's see. My backpack was already full with all the canned meat I looted before. There are a total of 7 baskets, I guess I'll take 5 of them and leave 2 back for Moira to find someone to take them back.

Just then, I heard sound coming from the main entrance of the Mart.

"We're back. Where's… wait, that a body? Boys, something happened here. Spread out and check!"

Damn, there's another batch of them that went out and came back now? Luckily for me and stupid of them to spread out like that.

Hopefully these three raiders were the last. One of them was definitely the leader of this band of raiders, as he was the one giving orders before. He also has better armor and a 10mm SMG on him.

Alright. I'm done here. Let's head back to Moira to report my progress first.

Craterside Supply —

"Oh hey, you're back. Is that five baskets of Nuka-Cola? Where the heck did you get that many?"

I placed down the Nuka-Cola baskets and turned to Moira.

"From the Mart. The warehouse was somehow untouch, lots of stuff in there. I claimed these 5 baskets, there are two more still there for you."

"Really? Thank you then, I'll hire someone to go there and get it. Are there any dangers there? Also any foods or medicines?"

"Yeah, bunch of them. I've already taken my share so you can take the rest. There were raiders guarding the Mart. I dealt with them for now, but don't know if there're more."

"Hmm, that might be a problem…"

She contemplated for a bit and looked at me.

"Oh right, since you've been there already and you're pretty capable, can I hire you to guard the people I'll hire to get the resources from the Mart? Also keeping an eye on them and making sure they don't steal anything or run away with it? 50 caps and 50 more if there're raiders interfering with the transport."

50 caps for basically just go there, wait a bit then go back, sound good. I nodded at Moira.

"Great. Hey Jose, can you go and recruit a few people for me? Around 5 is good. Don't worry about Kenji, I trust him."

The guard, Jose, nodded at Moira, then went out to do as she requested.

"Check those items for me."

I pulled out the looted I've got from the Mart, those that I intended to sell only.

"Alright, just lay them on the counter for me."

After finishing the trade, I asked Moira.

"Can I leave these baskets here? I haven't got a place to store it yet. Also can I rent your workbench to use myself?"

"No problem. Just leave them in the corner over there. Also no need to rent the workbench. You can use it anytime you want."

I nodded as thanks to her, then moved my 5 basket of Nuka-Cola to the corner.

I then took the AR I got from the ant nest with some of the scraps I got from the warehouse and started repairing it on the workbench.

Good gun. Now I have a decent weapon instead of only a pistol. One for short range, one for medium. If only I found a long-range rifle then I'll be set. I still have some spare parts and scrap so I should make a few weapon repair kits just in case.

"Hmm, you're really good with your hand. Got experiences before?"

"You could say that. Alright, thanks for letting me use the workbench."

"You're welcome. Just remember me whenever you need trading."

"Oh right, going to Minefield will have to be delayed for a while, as it's might take about half a day to walk there."

Moira nodded at that.

"Don't worry, take your time, I'm not in a hurry for that."

Right then, Jose came back with 4 settlers of Megaton. Moira handed out a big backpack for each person and told them of their mission, then with me as an escort for them, we headed out and went to the Super-Duper Mart.

A week later —

After I helped Moira with the escort to retrieve the resource in the Mart, I rented a bed at Moriarty's Saloon and made Megaton my base of operation for now.

I also used my time efficiently, helping around Megaton and doing odd jobs for the residents there.

I helped convincing Leo Stahl to turned away from his addiction of Jet, which made both Leo and Andy Stahl to thanks me profusely, as Leo was on his way to death with that addiction.

Not to mention Leo surrendered his stash of drugs to me, so I made some good caps for those.

Moira recommended me to Walter at the Water Processing Plant, who asked for my help to repair the broken water pipes around the town 'cause they leaking and he doesn't have time and also need to keep an eye on the Water Processing Plant.

There were total of 3 leaked locations. Fixing them was easy and I've got a few dozen caps from Walter. He also asked me to bring him any scrap metal I have, for 5 caps per piece.

The metal scrap can be used to repair my gun so I refused him for now.

There was an attack from a mob of 5 Mole Rats on the settlement. I helped the Protectron, now identified as Deputy Weld, get rid of them.

Mole Rat was easy to deal with one-on-one, but they always hunt in a pack of no more than half a dozen, so if you let them get close to you and they overwhelm you, that could lead to big trouble.

After hearing of me helping around the town and know about my repair skill, Lucas asked me to take a look at the bomb to see if I could disarm it for good.

It was a bit complicated, but in the end the bomb was disarmed for good. I have to do it in the middle of the night, with Lucas accompanying me though, as if the Church of the Children of Atom know I'm tinkering with the bomb, they'd cause many trouble.

One of the things I learned was that, if you can avoid it, don't mess with the people of faith, especially those religious zealots. You can't reason with them even if they're wrong.

After my successful disarm of the bomb, Lucas thanked me and rewarded me with a house in Megaton. He said that he wished for me to remain as a resident here, as people of my caliber and integrity were rare.

Even though I did not intend to stay here for long, having a home was good. It could be one of my bases in the future though.

I said as much to Lucas and he didn't mind it, so I accepted the house.

The house came with a Mr. Handy, Wadsworth, pretty generous of Lucas.

I reinforced my house and upgraded the door to a better lock, also upgraded Wadsworth as best as I can with what I've got so he could defend my house better if the need rises.

There was no telling what might happen when I will be gone for a while in the future.

I also received a delivery job from a girl named Lucy West. She needed a capable person to cross the Wasteland and arrive at Arefu to deliver her letter to her family and get the fee from her father there, as she was out of caps. Used it all to buy herself a shack in Megaton.

She hadn't heard from them for quite a while now and she was very worried.

Arefu was a bit out of the way to the Minefield, but still on the way so I accepted it.

Moira also finished making my clothes and armor.

My style was simple. Skinny jeans with turtleneck, long-sleeved shirt and combat boots. They're all in blue though, as they were made using my Vault Suits. I also got a brown cowboy hat, a Patrolman sunglasses, a long scarf that can be used to mask my lower face when I want and a pair of black leather gloves from Moira to finish my outfit.

The temperature in the Capital Wasteland is really hot in the daytime and cold when night falls. Normally with this style of outfit I'd sweat like a pig, but luckily my body can withstand hot weather and temperature very well, as I feel fine, even cool sometimes.

The downside though is that my body is weak against the cold. That's why I requested Moira to make my clothes a bit thicker than usual.

Moira also made me an armor vest as I requested.. Not much use in blocking bullets, the best it could was to stop handgun bullets, but it got lots of pockets for magazines, meds and utilities.

Moira commented that it was a very strange armor, the first time she ever saw one in fact. Guess people in this world either forgot about this type of vest or they didn't have it in the first place.

I also got an ultra big backpack to replace my old one. Even with how tall I am, the backpack covered all of my back and down to my butt. Now I can carry much more stuff.

After earning good caps, storing my supplies away in my house and stocked up just enough for the trip, I went on my way to the Minefield.

Mindfield —

So this is Minefield huh. 'Ghost town' is an apt name for it.

It took me exactly half a day to get here, just like I said to Moira.

Not much happened on my way here. Only some Mole Rats and Mongrels attack.

Making my way into the center of the town, I spotted a few landmines and attempted to disarm and take them.

'Attempted' here is the key word, as just when I was slowly walking toward a landmine, both my senses and my instinct tell me there's danger.

I immediately lunged to the side and hid behind a ruined wall of a house, just in time to hear gunshots at my original location.

A sniper?! Where?

I focused my senses and only after a bit, I found the sniper. He was on the ruined building far to the end of the town. It was so far that my senses could barely sense him, that's why he took me by surprise.

I crawled on the ground to the other side of the wall to avoid the sniper knowing my position, then I took out my AR and prepared. I peeked out and saw the sniper was still looking at the position that I hid behind the wall before.

Carefully pointing my AR at him, I took the shot and ended his life. I sighed in relief.

Damn, he was a good sniper. If not for my instinct and sense of danger, his shot would've landed.

After carefully focusing my senses and found no one else in the town, I proceeded to disarm all the landmines here. In total there were 20 landmines there.

Fucking Minefield alright.

I then went to the ruined building that the sniper was on. I was excited.

The sniper must've had a very good Sniper Rifle to be that accurate. Even me with enhanced eyes and one of the best snipers in my past life could barely headshot him with my AR.

And indeed he did. It was a high-powered Sniper Rifle, using .308 rounds and came with a scope. This's one of the best guns I could get, at least for now.

He also has a bunch of ammunition for it too, a whole 5 magazines, 50 bullets.

20 landmines for lots of caps and a Sniper Rifle, even if it was far from Megaton, a bit dangerous before with this sniper's stunt, it was worth it coming here.

There're some intact house in the town. According to Moira, there's no one living here anymore. Let's see if there's anything useful in there. Hopefully there's some clues as to what happened to this town or who the sniper is.

This place was looted already, as there was literally nothing left.

I found the bodies of some of the raiders and wastelanders inside some of the intacted houses. Seems like there was a problem with raiders here, and the sniper guy was fending them off.

If only he did not try to kill me back then.

Alright, let's head to Arefu to deliver this letter for Lucy. It's another half-day to travel there, best get going before it gets dark.

I marked down many places on my way to Arefu to explore later. But for now, I focus on my mission.

Arriving on the remaining of what once was a big bridge, I sense someone was hiding behind a sandbag defensive position.

I wanted to proceed there, but there were landmines between us, so I called out to them.

"Hello, I'm here to deliver a letter on behalf of Lucy West in Megaton. Not here for malicious reasons."

Upon hearing me, an old man walked out of his hiding place.

"Oh, you're not one of them. Get over here before they spot you."

I walked toward him and he said,

"The name's Evan. Evan King. Sorry, but there's a big problem here. Shit's 'bout to hit the fan in this cesspool and I don't think I can stop them."

I frown at that, "Raiders or Slavers?"

He shook his head, "No way. If it were them, you'd be staring at a burnt out ghost town. They're called Family. A bunch of punks if you ask me. At first they do typical gang bullshit. Breaking stuff and making noise, but they kept their distance. But last time they went too far. Kill all of our Brahmin! That's our lifeblood out here!"

Noticing the old man was spooked by something that he's not telling, I asked him.

"I can see that you're spooked by something. Are they that scary?"

The old man sighed, "Look, you can call me crazy or something, but there's something odd about those creeps. I mean, they got guns and muscles, why didn't they burst down the door and take us out already?"

I took a breath then continued.

"Look, I don't want to take my eyes off the ramp here, no telling when the Family might return. Can you do me a favor and check on the people here on your way to the West residence to deliver your letter? Making sure they're ok? There's the Ewer, Schenzy and West in that order."

It required just a bit of time and effort, no big deal, so I accepted his request.

Ken Ewers and Brailee Ewers were wife was a bit out of it and the husband was outright hostile at me.

Karen Schenzy was spooked and even more afraid than Evan, but nothing happened to her.

It was at the West residence that I found trouble.

Davis and his wife were dead. Their bodies have bite marks on the neck area that go to the bone.

The strange thing is the lack of bloodstain, as any bite or wound of that depth should've caused massive bleeding.

Guess this's why Lucy didn't hear from them for a while. They were dead for quite some time.

Finding nothing else, I left the West residence and reported back to Evan.

"The Family must've gotten them in their last attack. Sons of bitches. If only we had more men."

Evan sighed, then remembered something and asked me,

"Wait a minute, when you check on the West, did you see their son's, Ian, body?"

I shook my head.

"Must be the doing of the Family. I saw someone from Family talking to Ian down the river. Look, I know this's a bit too much to ask, but can I possibly hire you to look into the Family and find Ian? That's the least we could do for the West. All I have left is 100 caps. It's your if you accept."

Now, I'm not such a good guy that I'd go out of my way to help all and anyone I meet, but a principle of mine is that when I accept a contract, mission or job, I'll see to it till the end.

If this boy, Ian, is still alive, I need to find him to deliver Lucy's letter to him.

Also, Evan could really use the caps to buy some Brahmin and get the town back up. I might not be a good guy, but I'm not such an asshole as to take the remaining caps from them when they already have nothing left.

"Alright, I'll find him. No need to pay me, keep the caps to buy a Brahmin or something. You know where I could find the Family's hideout?"

Evan sighed in relief at that.

"Oh thank you. This might not replace what we lost, but at least it'll give us a chance to get back up. I don't know their exact location, but I saw some of them going toward the direction of Meresti trainyard before. You should start looking there."

I nodded at Evan and started heading there right away.

Meresti trainyard —

Well, this's just a graveyard for trains.

And indeed it is. Literally rusty and broken trains laying around and nothing else.

I headed to the door leading to the Metro Station and entered it. If they made this place their hideout, it should be somewhere in there.

Following the way deep inside, I found some bear traps and disarmed them, but it seems I still have a lot to learn of this world.

*BANG*

I rolled away immediately after hearing the beeping sound of a bomb, but it still got me a bit in the right leg.

God fucking damn it. Guess I've got a bit rusty after 19 years living in peace that I did not pay attention to my put a bomb into a rusty baby trolley to make a trap. Luckily my leg only bled a bit, nothing was broken.

I used a Stimpak to hasten my healing progress on my leg and bandage it up. It should be healed in a few hours.

Getting back up, I continued onward, this time a bit more careful at my surroundings.

Hmm, this 'Family' is pretty dangerous. This amount of traps and their variety is not something normal raiders or slavers can have. Tripwire that triggers gunshot, landmines, bobby traps. I need to be careful when I see them.

Deeper in the Metro Station, I even found the corpses of two Mirelurk that caught by the landmines. The way to the left leads to a tunnel network, possibly to the Mirelurks so I left it alone for now and went the other way.

At the end, there's a guard post with a person sitting there.

As I did not hiding my presence, he spotted me and shouted.

"Hey! How the hell did you come this deep without dying to all the traps? This's the territory of the Family. If you have no business here, I suggest you leave now!"

Well, at least they're reasonable and can be talked to.

"I'm looking for a kid named Ian. Got a letter from his sister for him."

"Ohh, that new kid huh. Well come in then. Vance said that someone should come looking for him soon. You should talk to Vance first, He's the leader of the Family."

The guard said while opening the gate for me.

Hmm, bed, chair and table, food, weapon and supplies. If this guard post was this resourceful, the Family must be wealthy and operate in good condition.

After going through a door and a tunnel, I arrived at the Station, where a bunch of people settled there as some kind of settlement.

Someone saw me and headed toward me and asked,

"Hello, are you new here? As I do not recognize your face."

"Yeah. Looking for Vance."

"You're in luck then. I'm Vance, the leader of this group of weary travelers and outcasts who need a home. To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?"

"Looking for a kid named Ian. Got a letter to deliver to him from his sister."

"Ahh, my newest charge. That means there's still a part of his human family remaining? That mean he needed to be in isolation even more."

I frown at that.

"What do you mean?"

Vance sighed and said, "He's afraid and contemplating what he needs to do next and where to go from here, after what happened in Arefu."

Vance was reluctant to continue, but decided to go for it.

"Ian's hunger for flesh overwhelmed him. It drove him to kill his parents. Because of my intervention that night, He stopped just short of being lost forever to his craving for fleshes."

"... You mean he's a cannibalism?"

"If you want to put it in that barbaric way, then yes. Please, he needs to think for himself what he should do from now on."

I sighed then said.

"Look. He's obviously confused right now. He still has his sister left, and talking to another person with another perspective might give him something to think on. Let me give him the letter and talk to him, if you really want what's good for him."

Vance thought about it for a moment and agreed with me, seeing that what I said had some point.

"Alright. He's in the Restroom upstairs, past my room. Here's the password to the terminal to open the door."

I accepted the password and went to the Restroom upstairs as Vance instructed.

Seeing the door open but a strange person walked in, Ian, who was sitting on the bed, got up and asked..

"Huh, who're you? What do you want?"

"You Ian, right? You're a hard kid to find."

Ian sighed, "Guess Evan sent you huh. I'll bet he's pissed right now."

"The opposite actually. He hired me to find you as he wanted to do right by the West. He even uses what's left of his caps too. What happened with your parents there, he did not know."

"... Huh, never thought he'd do that for me. If you knew what I did there then you must think I'm a monster… I'm a mutant, a freak. The only one I can talk to is my sister, Lucy, and she's gone already, leaving me behind."

Ian looked down in guilt and shame.

I came and kneeled down to him, as I was almost double his height, and handed him Lucy's letter.

"Read this first, then we'll continue. It's your sister's letter."

Ian took the letter and sat back down on the bed. After staring at it for a bit, he opened the letter and read it.

I leaned on the wall and kept silent.

After a while, Ian finished reading it and mumbled while tearing up,

"She's really missed being home and asked about me a lot in here. I had it all wrong."

I walked toward Ian and sat down next to him on the bed, which made it squeaky and threatened to break., then put a hand on his shoulder.

"Look, kid. I know you're confused and afraid right now, but staying here will do nothing for your mind. What happened already happened and you can't change that. What you can change though is learn from it, make it a lesson and move on and try to atone for it. Come with me to Megaton and stay with your sister. She can help you with your condition and you can also take care of her. She's your last family member, are you willing to leave her all alone in this world while you're here, playing family with other strangers like that? Even if they have the same condition as you?"

Ian thought about my words for a bit and nodded.

"You're right. I should come and live with my sister. I'm 15 now so I should find something to do and earn a living to take care of her too, to atone for my sin."

I nodded at him.

"Good. Gather your stuff and wait for me by the entrance.I'll go talk to Vance first."

Seeing that Ian agreed with my arrangement, I left him and went to find Vance.

"So, how did the talk with young Ian go?"

"The kid is fine now. Still confused and in guilt and shame, but at least he decided to move on. He will be coming with me to Megaton and staying with his sister."

Vance nodded.

"That's good for young Ian then. Although it saddens me to see him go, everyone has their own path. Thank you for helping him move on with his life."

"It's fine. Also, we need to talk about Arefu."

Vance indicated for me to continue.

"You know if this goes on, people of Arefu will decide they've had enough and fight back, then there'll only be casualty and no gain right?"

Vance thought for a moment and asked,

"So what do you propose then?"

"You can survive on human blood, and just a little bit will be fine right? Get the people of Arefu to donate their blood for you from time to time in exchange for your protection of them. Win-win situation, don't you think?"

"... You're right, how did I never think of this! Let me write a proposal for you to take back to Arefu first. I'll send someone to go to Arefu later to talk more with them."

After I got the proposal from Vance, I left Meresti Metro station with Ian and went back to Arefu.

Evan was grumbling with the idea of donating blood at first, but then relent, as the amount of blood is only from time to time and not much, it would not affect the health of the people of Arefu.

After Ian finished burying his parents and gathering his stuff, he went with me back to Megaton.

Megaton, the next day —

"Ian! Why are you here?"

"Hey there Lucy. It's a bit of a long story, so can we go to your place first?"

Lucy was confused, but agreed. I just left them alone for now.

Wait, now that I think about it, didn't I do all of those for free? Lucy's out of caps, Davis was dead, I escort the kid here to his sister without any payment?

I sighed. Me and my damned compassion sometime.

Well, no point regretting now. At least I did some good. Time to clean up my haul.

"Honey, I'm homeeee!"

I joked as I entered Moira's shop.

"Aww, that's what I am to you? You're gonna make me blush."

Moira giggled at my joke… Or at least she perceived part of it as a joke, if my observation was correct, and I don't make mistake in my observation much.

I coughed and said,

"Aight, take a look at these items for me please. In the meantime, I'll need to borrow your workbench again."

"Alright, just leave them on the counter and take your time."

I started to maintain my guns and equipment. I patched up the right leg of my jeans, as it was tattered from the bomb trap I've got before in the Meresti tunnel.

My pistol and AR did not need fixing much, but the Sniper Rifle I've got from the sniper needs a bit of fixing though, as apparently he was using it for quite a while and did not do any maintenance on it.

I also got enough parts to make a simple suppressor for my AR, so I went ahead and did that.

It was not good, but it'll do for now.

I don't need a suppressor for my Sniper Rifle though, as I only use it to snipe enemies from far away, which is quite rare. Also because it's far, the enemy will not know my location easily when firing it.

Pistol holster on my right leg, AR strapped on my chest and Sniper Rifle holster on my DIY Slik Sling at the side of my backpack.

"Alright, that'll come in a total of 150 caps."

As I finished my maintenance, Moira finished her calculations.

"Aight, you can put that away first. I hope you are ready for your presents."

"Ohhhh, presents? Gimme gimme!"

I pulled out a total of 25 landmines. 20 from Minefield and 5 from the Meresti tunnel.

"You take one as your present."

"Wow, so you went to Minefield already huh. Tell me about it?"

"Well, 'Ghost town' and 'Minefield' are apt names for it. There's no one living there anymore. The 'Ghost' that attacks you turns out to be an old man with a Sniper Rifle that'll shoot you to death if you enter the town. The town seems to have had problems with raiders or slavers though,as I found some bodies of them inside the houses there."

"... Did you…"

"Yeah, killed the old man. No choice, as he was pinning me down with the gun and intended to kill me."

"Well, guess it can't be helped then. Let me calculate these mines for you."

"Oh, also get me some magazines for my AR and 5.56 mm and .308 bullets please."

"Alright, how many?"

In total, I made around 500 caps. I used 300 to buy magazines, bullets.

Pretty good trip.

"Right. Chapter one for the Wasteland Survival Guide is now done. If you're ready we can get to chapter 2 right away."

"Tell me the details first, you airhead."

Moira was confused, "What's an airhead?"

I facepalmed, "Nevermind that, just tell me the details."

"Oh alright. So for chapter two, there're 3 objectives. First is how to deal with Mole Rat. I made a Repellent Stick here and I need you to test it out before putting in the receipt to make it. Second is how to deal with injuries. I need you to come back here with injuries on you for me to examine, as many as you could. Third and last, I need you to place this observer inside the Mirelurk nest at the Anchorage Memorial, specifically inside an egg clutch, to gather data on them. You should not kill any Mirelurks in there though as it could interfere with the data."

I stared at her for a while. The whole time she just looked at me and smiled innocently and questioning.

"First of all, I can do the Mirelurk data thing, no problem. Second, for the Mole Rats, I have experience dealing with them so I could give you information and advice on how to deal with them, depending on the situation. It worked perfectly and all the time, so no need for new experimental weapons just for them. Last thing though…"

I stopped there and lightly clock her on the top of her head.

"Oww! Meanie! Why did you hit me?"

"Why the hell do you need me to go out there, get injured and come back just so you could observe the injuries? We have a Doc in town for god sake. Just ask him instead. Even I have knowledge of how to deal with injuries myself and I could outright tell you instead of that!"

Moira was nursing her bump on her head. After hearing my words, her eyes lit up and she hit her right fist on her left palm in an eureka moment.

"Oh yeah! That makes perfectly total sense! Good job, my reliable assistant!"

I facepalmed. This airhead girl.

After answered and provided her with what information and knowledge I know for the two objectives, I accepted the observer for Mirelurk nest and left.

After leaving Craterside Supply, I ran into Lucy and Ian.

"Hey Kenji, you're here. We're looking for you all over. I thought you already left Megaton."

"Anything you need?"

"Nah. Just want to thank you for all you've done for us. I already talked with Lucy about what happened. Now we need to think about where we go from here. I also need to find something to do to earn a living."

"Hmm… maybe ask Moira at Cratersite for an errand boy job. Now that I'm here, Moira should be busy with all the trade she could get in the future and could use an assistant or errand boy."

"Really, you think so?"

"I just guess. Go inside and ask her yourself."

"Ok. Thanks, Kenji."

Ian rushed past me and into Craterside Supply, leaving Lucy, his sister, behind.

"... Sorry for your loss."

"Thanks. I can't believe my parents are gone. And it was my little brother who was responsible for it. I shouldn't have left home at all."

"Everyone has their own way to go and life to live. It is what it is, Now you only have each other to rely on, so take good care of each other."

"Thank you, Kenji. We will."

She fidgeted a bit, before saying, "If you can, please stop by and say hi from time to time, Kenji. Bye!"

Then she bolted right after her brother.

For some reason, my rizz skill, as the young one called it back in my past life, is still there. I still don't understand though. I didn't do anything at all, why are some of the girls still attracted to me?

Shaking my head, I went back home to rest and prepare for my departure tomorrow.
