Episode 393: Tears For Fears

A little later after Sora has added Chimchar to his team, Sora's new Chimchar looked around and saw how different it was between Paul and the other Trainers. He saw how well the other Trainers treated their Pokémon better than Paul treated his own. He even saw how well the worked together.

"Okay, let's get to that lunch we never get to have thanks to those minor distractions," Wes said.

"I'm with you, Wes. I'm still hungry from earlier," Chase said.

"Well, Paul and those Heartless didn't help too much," May said.

"As long as we don't see those things, we should be okay," Dawn said.

"Trust me, Dawn, you don't know how often I have been wishing for that," Lyra said.

A table was being set and bowls were being set for the Pokémon. Sora's Chimchar remembers how meal time was like when he was with Paul.

(Flashback)

Paul opened a can of store-bought Pokémon food so Chimchar could eat it.

"Hurry up. We're way behind on training," Paul said. Chimchar started to eat it.

(Flashback ends)

"Chimhar?" Sora asked. Sora's Chimchar snapped out of his trail of thought. "You look like you're staring off into space. Eat up," Sora said, petting his Chimchar. He looked up and saw Sora eating his bowl of stew. "Oh, man, this tastes as good as always, Kairi."

"Plenty to go around if you want seconds," Kairi said.

"Great!" Sora happily exclaimed as he kept eating. Sora's Chimchar saw how much Sora was smiling. He took a piece of Pokémon food and tasted it. Chimchar instantly liked how it tasted. Chimchar was wolfing down the food as fast as he could. "See? I knew you'd like it."

Not too far, a male Shinx sniffed the air and the delicious smell has made contact with his nostrils. The male Shinx has followed it right to its source.

Back at the camp, everyone was cleaning up as Roxas has his Mudkip and Totodile use Water Gun on the dirty dishes as he uses a soap, lathered in soap.

"Great job, you guys," Roxas said.

"Wow, I had no idea you could use Water-type Pokémon to help washing dishes," Lucas said.

"Comes in handy when you don't have a sink to wash them over or you're near any lake or pond," Roxas said

"Pikachu," Xipak agreed with his partner.

"Wow, my mom would be impressed," Lucas said.

"Hey, Chimchar, come here!" Sora called out. Hearing his new Trainer's voice, Chimchar comes over to Sora. "How about we do some training. Just to get you some excercise."

"Chimchar," Chimchar said. He hears some rustling. "Char?" Sora heard it as well. He saw the same male Shinx.

"Hey, a Shinx. Maybe, we can battle Shinx and catch it," Sora said. Understanding Sora, the Chimp Pokémon got ready to battle against the wild Shinx. "Okay, Chimchar! Ember!" Chimchar fired Ember at the Flash Pokémon, so Shinx dodged and came at Chimchar with a Tackle. "Use Dig!" Chimchar digs underground. Shinx looks around and catches Shinx by surprise by coming on up. "Use Scratch!" Chimchar scratches Shinx in his face. "Flame Wheel!" Chimchar rolled into Shinx, hitting the Flash Pokémon on the mark. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. Shinx flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. "Great job, Chimchar."

"Char?" Chimchar asked.

"Way to go!" Sora said. Chimchar then started to celebrate before he remembered Sora was looking at him and stopped. "There's nothing wrong with celebrating your own success. Your Flame Wheel was awesome." Chimchar was surprised by Sora calling him awesome.

(Flashback)

Chimchar fired an Ember, hitting Elekid, resulting in an knockout. Paul just looked at Elekid.

"Pathetic," Paul said. He looked right at Chimchar who was celebrating, but stopped. "There's nothing to be proud of. Until you let out that flame like you did that one time, then you're pathetic. And don't you ever forget it."

(Flashback ends)

Chimchar looked up at Sora and then tears began to build up and cried.

"Hey, what are you crying for?" Sora asked. Chimchar kept on crying.

Meanwhile, Lea had arrived to the dock just outside of Twinleaf Town.

"Well, here I am," Lea said. He then felt a familiar scent. He instantly recognized the scents. "Roxas. Xion. Along with Sora, Kairi, Ash, Leaf, May, Brendan, Ethan, Lyra, Kris, Wes, Michael, and Rui. And there are two others I don't recognize. They've been here and pretty recent. Maybe I'll follow the scents and see where they're heading." He begins to walk and he sees a sign ahead of him. "Twinleaf Town. Looks like I'm in the Sinnoh region. Well, better keep going." He keeps following the trail.

Back with the group, it was night as everyone was sleeping peacefully. Sora's Chimchar was sleeping and started to have a nightmare. He dreamed of a Graveler using a Rock Throw at the Chimp Pokémon.

"Don't dodge!" A familiar voice shouted. Chimchar turned to see Paul. "You've got to learn to be able to use your powers under pressure!" Chimchar endured the hit of the rocks. "Your ability, Blaze, is activated when you're in danger! You've done it before, so you should get this! Remember back when you defeated the Zangoose! And remember how your fire burned on that day!" Chimchar looked up and saw Graveler vanished. Three Zangoose took Graveler's place, making him cower in fear. Chimchar saw he was on a hill. "Chimchar! Blaze!" One of the Zangoose got to Chimchar and slashed at him.

Chimchar woke up in a frantic fit. Chimchar sighed, knowing it was only a dream.

On the next day, Sora, Kairi, Roxas, Xion, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, May, Chase, Elaine, Lucas, Dawn, Wes, Rui, Michael, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, Marill, Volt, Maple, and Piplup are continuing on.

"You're letting Piplup stay out of his Pokéball, Dawn?" Leaf asked.

"Well, some of you have your partners out, so I thought Piplup and I should get in on it, too," Dawn said.

"Piplup," Piplup said.

"I guess Piplup will get used to being outside more often," Leaf said.

Later, the group made another stop as Sora has Pikachu and Chimchar gather some berries for Kairi to make some Pokémon food and for the Pokémon to eat te heal in a battle. They picked plenty of berries

there is a boy who has fair skin, gray eyes, and mid-length green hair with bangs. He wore a white short-sleeved dress shirt over a green long-sleeved undershirt, black trousers, black shoes with green soles, and a green backpack with connected straps. He noticed Sora and the two Pokémon with him.

"Excuse me," the boy said, approaching Sora, Pikachu, and Chimchar. "Does that Pikachu and Chimchar belong to you?" The boy asked.

"Yeah, they do. Something I can help you with?" Sora asked.

"I would like to have an examination of your two Pokémon if you don't mind," the boy said, having a look at Pikachu and Chimchar. "Hm, Pikachu's coat is shiny and clean. Shows good health. And your Chimchar is a different story."

"Well, I only had Chimchar for a short time. He actually belonged to someone else until just recently. Anyway, who are you?" Sora asked.

"I'm Sorrel. A pleasure to meet you," Sorrel said.

"Sora. And Likewise," Sora said, shaking Sorrel's hand.

"Now, you said this Chimchar belonged to someone else before you? Did you get this Chimchar through a trade?" Sorrel asked.

"No, Chimchar's last Trainer just released him just because he said Chimchar was, well...weak," Sora said.

"Is that so? I must say, I do not condone such as an act," Sorrel said.

"Tell me about it. It was because he lost against my Turtwig. Anyway, I'm heading back with my friends, so they're probably wondering what's taking me so long," Sora said.

"Hey, Sora, what's taking you so long? Don't tell me you got lost picking berries," Ethan said.

"I would ask if you see what I mean, but..." Sora paused.

"I kinda see it. I'll accompany you," Sorrel said.

Sora had to consider Sorrel might be one, but he wasn't entirely sure, but he had to keep that possibility opened.

Meanwhile, at a Pokémon Center, there is a girl who has fair skin, brown eyes, black triangular eyebrows and brown hair with a ponytail on top. She wears a blue T-shirt with a black semi-circle on it, white shorts over black and blue leggings, pink shoes with black straps, white bows and soles, and a white backpack with one strap tied in a knot.

"Here you go, miss, your Pokémon are all doing well," Nurse Joy said, handing her back her Pokéballs.

"Thank you, Nurse Joy," the girl said. She noticed a wanted poster. The person on the poster is a slim woman, who has grayish-blue hair. She has an outfit, composed of a long purple collared jacket, with two pockets, but without her left sleeve. In addition, she wears a red outfit underneath, with red heels. On her left arm, she has a gauntlet, and a pair of goggles.

"Who is this person on this poster?" The girl asked.

"A Pokémon Hunter calling herself 'J'. She's the most ruthless criminal in the entire Sinnoh region. She has a device that turns Pokémon to gold statues to make it easier for her to steal and sell on the black market. She has no soul. I advise you to stay away from her at all costs," Nurse Joy said.

"I'll take your word for it," the girl said, taking her leave. As soon as she stepped out, Barry literally ran into her.

"Hey, watch where you're going! That's going to be a two-hundred million fine for this!" Barry said.

"You're kidding, right? You bumped into me all because you weren't looking where you were going by running like a madman," the girl argued.

"Lookie here! I-" Barry was cut off when he saw a Starly fly by. "Hold that thought!" Barry goes after Starly, holding a Pokéball.

"What a weirdo," the girl sighed to herself.

Back with the group, Sorrel has joined the group and he let out his Lucario to mingle with the rest of the Pokémon, especially Riolu. Sora took out his Rotom Phone and scanned Sorrel's Pokémon.

Lucario, the Aura Pokémon

The evolved form of Riolu

Type: Fighting/Steel

Lucario can detect the aura of other living things, even when it cannot be seen by the human eye. It uses this ability to read the thoughts and movements of its opponent.

"So, you're all from different regions, right?" Sorrel asked.

"Yeah, Kairi, Roxas, Xion, Ash, Chase, Leaf, Elaine, and I are from Kanto, while Ethan, Kris, and Lyra are from Johto, Brendan and May are from Hoenn, and Wes, Rui, and Michael are from the Orre region," Sora said.

"I see," Sorrel said.

"So, Sorrel, are you out competing for the Sinnoh Pokémon League or in Pokémon Contests?" Lucas asked.

"Neither. I'm actually out, studying to be a Pokémon Professor," Sorrel said.

"A Pokémon Professor?" Dawn asked.

"Kinda like Professor Rowan and Professor Oak, right?" Roxas asked.

"Yes. To do that, I have to do as much research on Pokémon while I'm traveling the world," Sorrel said.

"So, you're gonna start by going into places and habitats of wild Pokémon, right?" Brendan asked.

"That's one way to put it," Sorrel said. "What about the rest of you?"

"Well, I'm going to be a Top Coordinator like my mom used to be," Dawn said.

"And I'm going to be a Pokémon League Champion," Lucas said.

"We all have similar dreams," Kris said.

"I don't doubt it," Sorrel said.

"Since you're learning about Pokémon research, that means it includes legendary Pokémon, too, doesn't it?" Ethan asked.

"Yes, and those legendary Pokémon would be Giratina, Palkia and Dialga," Sorrel said, taking out a book. It shows Palkia and Dialga on a page along with a third Pokémon. It is a large gray draconic Pokémon with three gold half-rings on each side of its long neck. Its head has a gold crown-like object surrounding it with two large horns pointing sideways. A thick black stripe runs vertically along its front with five red horizontal stripes. It has two large black ghostly wings with three red tips on each that can resemble claws. These wings can change shape as if made of a liquid or gas. Its six legs are thick and have golden claws. Two golden half-circles similar to those on its neck are on each side of each leg, resembling shackles. It has a tail with two band-like markings. This is Giratina. "The tales of Giratina, Dialga, and Palkia goes back to the days of ancient Hisui. Dialga is the Pokémon who has the power of time, while Palkia is the Pokémon who is said to have the power of space. It is said in legend that these Pokémon keeps a delicate balance in our world, but total chaos will reign if that balance is ditrupted in any shape or form."

"That's heavy. Pokémon with the power of time and space," Sora said. Roxas seemed to remember seeing Palkia and Dialga in a dream before, and they were with some other legendary Pokémon, too.

He turned the page to show another image of Palkia, Dialga, and Giratina, but in different forms. Dialga's alternate form drastically different from the usual sauropod-like look of its other forme, being a hybrid between it, a dragon, and a centaur, while also resembling its creator, Arceus. The back legs of Dialga become unguligrade in shape and have pointed tips instead of feet. The front legs are noticeably larger, with three distinct rhomboid claws on the underside. Further up, Dialga's knees have rectangular, long, and thin protrusions. Its chest plate is gone; however, it has a similar polygonal shape in its place. On Dialga's neck is a large shape jutting out towards the front (giving it the appearance of a larger throat), along with two pairs of protrusions on either side, the upper pair being larger and resembling panels or wings. Inside this large shape and wing-like protrusions are deep blue diamond-like crystals, embedded into diamond-shaped grooves. The three spines located on the back of the neck are longer and sharper. Dialga's head has two thin arrow-shaped horns extending towards the top and back of its head, along with longer fang-like horns connected to a plate mask covering its lower jaw, which can shift in angle to reveal the mouth. The plate mask also partly covers the arrow-shaped horns on their sides. Around Dialga's abdomen is a cross made of four arrow shapes attached to a small wheel, reminiscent of Arceus's cross-wheel. The fin-like plate on Dialga's posterior has a star-shaped layer on top of it. The tail is much shorter and crystal-shaped. Overall, Dialga's entire body becomes larger and nearly completely dark blue. The crest, arrow-shaped horns, knee protrusions, and abdomen cross are light blue, while the tips of Dialga's fin-like plate and feet are dark gray.

Palkia's alternate form changes drastically from its other theropod-like Forme, taking on a centaur-dragon hybrid look while resembling its creator, Arceus. The main body becomes larger and grayish pink, with light gray accents on the tips of its wings and legs, along with various dark purple accents. Its shoulder plates are larger and seem to be made of the same pearl-like crystals as the ones embedded at the center, with six rectangular dark purple protrusions surrounding them. Its lower half becomes bigger and resembles that of a horse. Palkia's arms become its forelegs, with hooves, protrusions on the knees, and rectangular spikes on its upper forelegs akin to its other Forme's arms. The back legs gain hooves as well, with heels on the back of the foot, and they are bent in such a way that allows Palkia to stand up on its two back legs. The tail becomes shorter and splits into five. On the center of Palkia's abdomen is a structure consisting of two dark purple circular shapes connected to two circles of the same color, resembling Arceus's cross-like wheel. Palkia's neck and markings on its lower body become shorter. The pointed crest on its neck becomes taller and longer. Its lower jaw gets a plate-like mask covering it, with multiple spikes all over it: one at the front, a pair extending towards the bottom of the jaw, and two pairs on either side extending towards the back. The plate-like mask can be lowered to reveal its mouth when roaring or using attacks.

Giratin takes on a serpentine look. Its legs are reduced to golden-tipped spikes, and four additional golden spikes appear near the edge of its tail. While in this form, the six gold half-rings can grip objects. The back points of each half-ring have a black ghostly tendril with a red spike at its tip. The horns on its head are now facing the back. The sides of the golden "crown" cover its mouth and separate vertically like an insect's mandible when it opens its mouth. The black vertical stripe is broken into pieces and runs down its body.'

"Legend states that these are their true forms," Sorrel said.

"Since Palkia controls space and Dialga controls time, but what does Giratina control?" Roxas asked.

"Antimatter. Due to Giratina's violent nature, Arceus banished Giratina to a different dimension which is called the Distortion World," Sorrel said.

"You seem to know a lot about it," Ash said.

"It helps when you read a lot of books like I have," Sorrel said.

A little further away, a small group of Seviper are slithering, searching for food when they hear a rustling sound. They saw it was a pack of Zangoose. The fur and scales were flying as the Seviper and Zangoose were fighting each other.

The group heard the commotion.

"What is that?" May asked.

"I don't know, but it sounds very close to us," Michael said.

"I think we should check it out. Just in case, I mean," Chase suggested.

"Good idea, Chase. That's what we'll do," Sora said.

With that said, the whole group went to investigate the source of the disturbance when they saw it was just Zangoose and Seviper fighting each other.

"Just Seviper and Zangoose," Brendan said.

"Zangoose. Let me see," Dawn said, taking out her Rotom Phone.

Zangoose, the Cat Ferret Pokémon

Type: Normal

It has feuded with Seviper for many generations. Its sharp claws are its greatest weapons.

"What about Seviper?" Lucas asked, taking out his Rotom Phone.

Seviper, the Fang Snake Pokémon

Type: Poison

For many generations, it has feuded with Zangoose. It whets its bladed tail on rocks for battle.

"Seviper and Zangoose are enemies by nature," Rui said.

"And when one of them gets on the other's turf, then there's going to be a brawl between the two of them," May said.

"And it looks like it'll get ugly between the two of them," Sora said. Chimchar was shaking in fear over the sight of the Zangoose. Sora was quick to notice it. "Chimchar, what's wrong?"

"Chimchar," Chimchar said, remembering being chased by Zangoose.

(Flashback)

Chimchar was running from a pack of Zangoose. It could either be about territory or about food. Chimchar was jumping from tree-to-tree when one of the Zangoose slashed a tree branch, causing it to fall along with Chimchar. He found himself at the edge of a cliff when the pack had him cornered. Chimchar was scared stiff until his flames began to build up and engulfs the area, using Flame Wheel. The Zangoose pack were caught in the assault, causing the Zangoose to retreat.

"Hey," a voice said. Chimchar looked up and saw Paul for the first time. "Look at what you did." The Chimp Pokémon looked around and saw what he did. He held out a Pokéball and held it. "Come with me."

(End of flashback)

"Chimchar, what's wrong?" Sora asked.

"Pika!" Pikachu said.

The Zangoose had beaten the Seviper, making them retreat when they noticed the group. The Zangoose have set their attentions on them.

"Uh-oh," Sora said. The Zangoose started to come their way.

"Lucario! Aura Sphere!" Sorrel ordered. Lucario hurled an Aura Sphere at the Zangoose. It hits one of the Zangoose, but they kept on coming.

"Pikachu! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu fired a Thunderbolt, shocking them, but they didn't stop.

"Why are they attacking us, too?!" Lucas exclaimed.

"This must be their territory, so they must think that we're invading," Sorrel said.

"Chimchar," Chimchar said, scared. One of the Zangoose came for Chimchar.

"Watch out!" Sora shouted, taking a slash on the back. "YEOW!"

"Char?" Chimchar asked.

"It's okay. I took worse hits than that," Sora said.

"Chimchar," Chimchar said.

"I don't know why you're scared of those Zangoose, but you can't let your fear get the best of you. You gotta confront your fears," Sora said. Chimchar was scared, but he knew Sora was right. He had to face his fears and he had to face it head-on. Chimchar rushes in. "Great! Go! Use Flame Wheel!" Chimchar rolls into a ball of fire and plowed into one. "Use Ember!" Chimchar took in a deep breath and let out a Flamethrower instead. "That was Flamethrower. You learned to use Flamethrower!"

"Sora, don't pat yourself on the back! More Zangoose are coming," Ethan said.

"Right! Use Dig!" Sora ordered. Chimchar dug a hole and then came out, hitting the Zangoose on the mark. "Use Flamethrower!" Chimchar fired Flamethrower, hitting the Zangoose. "Use Scratch!" Chimchar scratched the Cat Ferret Pokémon. "Flame Wheel!" Chimchar curled into a ball of fire and plowed right into the Zangoose. Having enough of Chimchar's fire power, the Zangoose ran off, scared, probably more than Chimchar. The Chimp Pokémon panted from the power he just used up. "I knew you were stronger than Paul said. You didn't know Flamethrower before, but now you do. He doesn't know what he's missing."

"Chimchar," Chimchar said and then started to cheer in glee.

It would seem Chimchar has overcame his fears and thanks to seeing Sora getting hurt, so Sora knows he will become the best Fire-type Pokémon he can become. And Sora would be right because Paul wouldn't know what he was missing.

Speaking of which, Paul was in a mountain region, battling a Magmar with his Elekid.

"Elekid! Thunder Punch!" Paul ordered. Elekid lands an electrified punch onto Magmar, so Paul took out a Pokéball and threw it. Magmar flowed inside and the Spitfire Pokémon flowed inside it. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Paul picked up the Pokéball and scanned it. "Magmar has some decent moves, so I'll keep it."

And we will leave it right here for now.

I bet you weren't expecting an appearance of Verity and Sorrel so soon, did you? Well, I did. Just thought I bring in another element from the anime movie series. I am thinking about how they would meet up with Verity soon, and NO in case you're wondering, I am not going to have Verity be the daughter of Cynthia, because there is no official confirmation it is Cynthia, also I don't remember Cynthia having brown hair in a photo Verity took before. Anyway, that's all for now.
