Chapter 207: Dante vs Ruby!
"Sure, is quite here" stated Dante as he and Erza walked through the town. Erza nodded her head as she started to speak.
"Yes, I imagine the towns people are hiding. For all they know we could be more Phantom Lord members" responded Erza in a steady tone. Dante stopped walking and turned his attention towards Erza before he started to speak.
"I never thought about that, you're probably right" responded Dante before he turned his attention towards the town surrounding him. Taking a breath, Dante then started to shout.
"If anyone is here it's okay to come out. We aren't members of Phantom Lord! We are Fairy Tail wizards come to save all of you" yelled Dante. A moment of silence followed before a single townsperson stepped out in front of them. The townsperson was a middle aged man, Dante supposed he was the town mayor.
"How do we know you are telling the truth? Prove it" stated the town mayor in a shaky tone. It was clear the town mayor was scared. Dante felt pity for the mayor and the rest of the townspeople, they had been subjected to horrible things at the hands of the new Phantom Lord. Lifting up his shirt, Dante flashed his guild tattoo as he started to speak.
"See this? It's my guild tattoo, it proves that I am a part of Fairy Tail" responded Dante with a smile as he pointed towards his guild tattoo. The town mayor took a closer look at the guild tattoo before he broke into a wide smile.
"Oh, thank goodness" responded the mayor in a relieved tone as he signaled for the rest of the hiding townspeople to come out of hiding. Dante smiled at the nervous townspeople as he put his shirt back on before he started to speak.
"My name is Dante Strauss, and this is Erza Scarlet. We are Fairy Tail wizards here to put a stop to the new Phantom Lord" stated Dante to the relief of the townspeople. The mayor stepped forward and responded to Dante.
"But there are only two of you, are you sure you can handle all the Phantom Lord members" asked the mayor in a nervous tone.
"We will be more than enough. Dante and I are some of Fairy Tail's strongest. The both of us might be a little too much to be honest" responded Erza with a smile. The mayor and the rest of the townspeople had a look of surprise at these words.
"Oh is that so? I don't know that sounds too good to be true" responded the mayor in an unsure tone.
"Hey, wait a minute I recognize these two from the Grand Magic games" yelled one of the townspeople. Hearing these words, another townsperson spoke up.
"That's right! These two were unreal in the Grand Magic games! They can save us no problem" yelled the other townsperson in an excited tone. Soon the rest of the crowd broke into excited chatter, thanking Dante and Erza for saving them. After a short while, the mayor quieted down the crowd before he started to speak.
"I cannot thank you two enough for what you are doing for us" stated the mayor in a grateful tone. Smiling back at the mayor, Dante started to speak.
"Don't mention it, we are glad to help. Besides Fairy Tail has a bone to pick with Phantom Lord" responded Dante with a smile.
"If you could just point us in the direction where the nearby Phantom Lord members are staying we can take care of them right away" stated Erza with a smile. Nodding his head, the mayor started to tell them were the Phantom Lord members set up nearby.
"Are you sure you don't need any of our help" asked the mayor as Dante and Erza started to walk away. Turning his attention back towards the mayor, Dante started to speak.
"We're sure, don't worry about us. If you really want to help, make sure you have a lot of tasty grub ready for us when we return. I suspect after beating the Phantom Lord members I will be starving" responded Dante with a kind smile. Nodding his head, the mayor vowed that a buffet will be waiting for them when they return. Turning his attention towards Erza, Dante continued to speak.
"Alright Erza, you ready" asked Dante with a smile. Erza nodded her head as she started to speak.
"Yes, I'm ready" responded Erza with an eager smile. After this the two of them made their way towards the area the mayor told them the new Phantom Lord members would be. After a short walk Dante and Erza were overlooking the Phantom Lord camp.
"Looks like they haven't noticed us yet. How about we teach them a lesson" asked Dante with a smile. Smiling back at her master, Erza unsheathed her sword as she started to speak.
"I think that is a wonderful idea" responded Erza as Dante used his magic to transform into his Angel Soul Gabriel form. Together the two of them sprung into action, attacking the unaware Phantom Lord members.
"What the" yelled one of the Phantom Lord members before he was blasted away from one of Dante's magical attacks.
"Damn these two are fairies" yelled another Phantom Lord member before Erza cut him down. The camp was filled with panicked screams as Dante and Erza made quick work of the Phantom Lord members.
"This is easier than I thought it would be" stated Dante with a smile as he punched another Phantom Lord member with a fist charged with holy energy. After cutting down another Phantom Lord member, Erza turned her attention towards her master and started to speak.
"Be on your guard master, we aren't done yet" responded Erza in a serious tone before she jumped after another group of Phantom Lord members.
For a short while Dante and Erza continued to make quick work of the Phantom Lord members as they desperately tried to fight back. It was unreal the Phantom Lord members thought, for only two people to be this troublesome to deal with. As Dante sent another Phantom Lord member flying away, he was suddenly attacked by a speeding blur. Dante barely had time to dodge as a large scythe nearly took off his head. Jumping some distance away, Dante looked at his new opponent.
"A large scythe and fast, you must be Ruby" stated Dante with a confidant smile. Smiling back at Dante, Ruby started to speak.
"That's right, and from the look of it you must be Dante Strauss the Angel of Fairy Tail" responded Ruby with a smile. Dante looked closely at Ruby, and he could notice a dark gleam in her eyes. Cursing Jose for forcing Ruby to do these horrible things, Dante readied himself for battle as he started to speak.
"I'm going to free you Ruby, just hang tight until then and sorry if I have to be rough" responded Dante as he spread his wings wide, readying himself to take flight. Just before Dante took flight, Ruby moved around in a blur of roses as she suddenly appeared behind him.
"What the" asked Dante before Ruby batted him away with her weapon. Dante was sent flying backwards but before he hit the ground, Ruby once again appeared behind him. Once again Ruby batted Dante away with her weapon, making him fly in the other direction. Getting a hold of himself, Dante spread his wings and flew high into the air. His thinking was that Ruby wouldn't be able to hit him as easily if he was high in the air, this way he could have some time to think of a strategy.
"Damn she's faster than I thought. Way faster than Jet and they use the same sort of magic" stated Dante as Ruby turned her scythe into a large sniper rifle. Seeing that Ruby was taking aim at him, Dante swore to himself as he started to move.
"Damn she's way tougher than I thought she would be" stated Dante as he was forced to fly through the air, dodging Ruby's sniper fire. Each shot came close to hitting Dante, he had to use all of his speed to avoid Ruby's attacks. Dante wasn't going to win if all he did was avoid Ruby's attacks, he would have to go on the offensive sometime soon. As Dante waited for his opportunity to strike back he continued to dodge Ruby's sniper fire.
"Come down coward" yelled Ruby as she lined up another shot and fired. Dante swore as he narrowly dodged the sniper fire, the bullet scraping against his shoulder. At this rate Ruby was going to hit him dead on if Dante didn't do something. As he watched Ruby look through her scope as she lined up another shot at him, Dante saw his chance.
"Light of Heaven" yelled Dante as he used his magical power to make blinding light shine from his body. Since Ruby was looking directly at him, she felt her eyes burn from the blinding radiance. Seeing that Ruby was forced to close her eyes, Dante smirked to himself as he continued to speak.
"Now's my chance" yelled Dante as he flew at top speed towards a temporarily blinded Ruby. Charging up his magical power, Dante focused holy energy in both of his fists as he shouted his next attack.
"Heaven's Fist Barrage" yelled Dante as he landed serval punches charged with holy energy. Ruby grunted with pain as Dante delivered blow after blow before she was sent crashing into the ground some distance away. A small cloud of dust was kicked up when Ruby crashed into the ground. Dante landed on the ground as he watched the dust cloud for movement.
"Did I get her" asked Dante not wanting to continue his attack if he already defeated Ruby. Suddenly a burst of speed rocketed out of the cloud of smoke, speeding right towards Dante. Surprised by the sudden burst of speed, Dante could only protect himself with his arms as Ruby slashed him with her large scythe. Taking the full force of Ruby's attack, Dante was glad for his magical power defending him or else Ruby would have sliced him in half. Being sent crashing into the ground, Dante grunted in pain as he stood back up.
"You should have stayed down" stated Ruby as she used her magic to speed towards Dante again. Dante at this point knew he could not match Ruby's speed, so he didn't waste his time or energy trying to doge her attack. Instead, Dante braced himself to take the incoming attack while he charged his own magical energy. Bringing his arm out to take the attack, Dante grunted with pain as Ruby's scythe sunk into his shoulder.
"AHHH damn that hurts" stated Dante in a pained tone as blood seeped from his wound. Ruby's scythe was buried in his shoulder, not deep enough to take his arm off but deep enough to draw an alarming amount of blood. Ruby had a victorious look on her face, she was convinced the battle was over. Her victorious look soon vanished when Ruby saw Dante smile back at her before he continued to speak.
"You put up a good fight Ruby, but this is the end for you" stated Dante in a confident tone despite the screaming pain coming from his cut open shoulder. Bringing his open palm out and pointing it towards Ruby, Dante continued to speak.
"Ray of Heaven" yelled Dante just before he fired a powerful beam of holy energy. At this close of a distance even Ruby couldn't dodge it with her speed magic. The beam of holy energy crashed into Ruby's chest, making her scream out in pain as she flew backwards. Taking this opportunity to finish the battle, Dante brought both his open palms together and channeled a large portion of his magical power.
"Cannon of Heaven" yelled Dante as the ground shook from the force of the all-consuming blast of holy energy that erupted from his open palms. Ruby was still in the air from Dante's last attack, she had nothing she could do as the attack fired towards her. In the next moment Ruby's entire world was consumed with blinding light as the holy energy tore her body apart.
"AGHHHHH" yelled Ruby in pain as Dante's attack blasted her apart. Ruby then crashed into the ground, unable to move her body after taking the full force of Dante's most powerful attack in his Gabriel form. As Dante breathed heavily and clutched his injured shoulder, he reverted back to his normal form. Walking towards Ruby, Dante watched as the dark energy leaked out of Ruby before it vanished.
"It's done, she should be in control again" stated Dante between deep breathes as he clutched his injured shoulder. Taking a moment to inspect his injured shoulder, Dante saw his hand covered in his own blood. Tearing off a portion of his shirt, Dante wrapped it around his injured shoulder in order to slow the bleeding. Turning his attention back towards Ruby, Dante saw that she had passed out. He hoped that Ruby was all right and he didn't take things too far with her.
"Master! Are you okay" asked Erza in a panicked tone as she ran towards Dante. Her eyes were focused on Dante's injured shoulder, the torn shirt already stained red with his blood. Dante smiled at Erza, he was glad that she had taken care of the rest of the Phantom Lord members and that she was okay.
"Erza, you're a great sight to see. Glad you are alright" responded Dante in a weak tone. The amount of magical energy and blood he had lost was finally catching up to him.
"Master, you're hurt" responded Erza in a worried tone as Dante sat down in order to catch his breath. Smiling weaking at Erza, Dante started to speak.
"I'll be fine Erza, don't worry about me. I've had way worse than this" responded Dante with a weak smile. Smiling back at her master, Erza started to speak.
"Just rest for now master. The job is done, you deserve a rest" responded Erza in a soothing tone. Normally Dante would insists that he was fine and could continue but at the moment a quick nap sounded great. Nodding his head, Dante laid down before he started to speak.
"Sounds good Erza, thanks" responded Dante in a tired tone before he closed his eyes. It didn't take long before Dante was lightly snoring as Erza watched over him. Watching her master peacefully sleep, Erza knew he was going to be okay. Looking at Dante's sleeping form, Erza blushed at his angelic face as he lightly snored. Leaning down Erza lightly kissed Dante's forehead before she started to speak.
"Sleep well master" stated Erza in a warm tone as she watched over a sleeping Dante. The battle for now was over.
