Abilities and Traits

The Ignika is unique among Kanohi as it has a cognitive mind, albeit an initially simple one. As a mask, the Ignika is able to act toward its own self-preservation by creating guardians and by placing curses, though these are only used in reflexive capacities. It has also shown itself capable of expressing both basic feelings, such as desire or dislike, and complex emotions, such as admiration for Matoro's humble self-sacrifice.

Toa Ignika was not a true Toa; instead, it was a body that the Mask of Life created for itself so it could experience life as a Toa and the admiration of others. Toa Ignika acted on his emotions similarly to a young and sheltered being, and would act recklessly. While the mask itself does not have a gender, Toa Ignika liked to think of himself as a male in honor of the two Toa who sacrificed themselves to use the Mask of Life. Upon creation, Toa Ignika had no knowledge of spoken language, but he later learned by observing others speak. The mask appears to have retained this knowledge after its time as Toa Ignika, as shown when it spoke to Tahu about the Golden Armor.

On multiple occasions the Ignika has demonstrated an apparent ignorance of its own powers. When the mask placed its first curse, for example, it believed that it was doing its target Great Being a service by bringing everything around him to life; in truth, the mask's curse drove the Great Being to madness. Further, while the Ignika was in its Toa form, Icarax taught the mask about its own countdown.

Powers

When a non-destined being touches the Mask of Life, it curses them. Curses vary in their specific effects but often last as long as the cursed being maintains contact with the Ignika. An exception to this is the first curse the Ignika raised: its target Great Being will forever bring the objects around him to life.

Without the aid of its destined user, the Kanohi Ignika's Life powers allow it to do virtually anything with life save resurrect it. The mask can absorb and/or control life energies, resulting in death. When the mask was inside the Codrex, it could be used to reawaken Mata Nui without requiring a wearer. When donned by a destined wearer, the Mask of Life could be used to revive the Great Spirit even from death. However, doing so killed the wearer, as the Ignika drew upon its user's own life force to help replenish Mata Nui's.

Although the Ignika could regenerate Mata Nui's life force, it also functioned as a kill switch for the Matoran Universe. If the Matoran Universe were deemed beyond hope, the mask would kill all organisms in the universe after a set amount of time. This was implemented because the Great Beings were unsure if the universe they created would work as they wished; if it did not, the Ignika would destroy the universe before matters grew worse. The Kanohi Ignika starts its countdown by turning from gold to silver, and the mask turns from silver to black when its countdown ends. How long the mask's countdown takes depends on how unbalanced the universe is. However, if the Ignika is removed from the Matoran Universe, the countdown stops.

The Great Beings also programmed the Golden Armor into the Mask of Life as a failsafe against Antidermis, the substance that composed the Makuta species. If Toa Mata Tahu donned the Golden Armor, he could destroy all solid Antidermis in a large area. This had the side effect of also destroying Rahkshi, created from a Makuta's essence, but Makuta themselves became safe from this power after they evolved into energy.

Toa Ignika could perform a Life Nova Blast, and commonly attacked by accelerating a target's aging rate.

When the mask was exposed to the mutagen in the Pit's waters, it began to corrode and crumble away, and it leaked out Life energy in the form of air. This process stopped once the mask was no longer in contact with the mutagen, and the Ignika has been repaired.

The Kanohi Vahi, Kanohi Ignika and Mask of Creation are on the same power level because Time, Life and Creation are all fundamental forces of the universe. It is impossible to create a Great, Noble, or Matoran version of the Mask of Life, as a weaker version of the mask would not be able to contain its power.

The mask can bestow itself and others with powers such as the abilities it gave to Vezon and Click. It can also restore power to a being such as by undoing a Toa's transformation into a Turaga.

After creating a body for itself, the Ignika is significantly weakened, because of energy expenditure needed to maintain a living form. Despite this, the legendary mask remains extremely powerful, still able to bring objects to life, evolve/devolve other beings and communicate via telepathy.

Example Usages

While the Kanohi Ignika has many Life-based powers, not all of them have been demonstrated. Below is a list of known examples of its powers:

The mask can change its form at will.

The mask drew Vezon to itself by influencing him.

The mask created a physical manifestation of itself to test Matoro.

The Kanohi Ignika altering the Toa Inika

The Kanohi Ignika leaked Life energy in the form of air.

The mask transformed the Toa Inika into the Toa Mahri.

The mask changed Dekar into a duplicate of Hydraxon.

The mask enlarged a Gadunka via leaked Life energy.

Using the mask, Matoro was able to teleport the Toa Mahri to Metru Nui.

The mask turned Matoro into energy that it used alongside its own powers to resurrect Mata Nui.

The mask crafted a body for itself and for Mata Nui.

Toa Ignika accelerated the aging of two of the Toa Nuva and Av-Matoran. It has since reversed their ages back to what they should be.

Toa Ignika devolved Icarax from gaseous Antidermis into a biomechanical being.

Mata Nui used the Ignika to give five Glatorian Elemental Powers.

The mask can undo the effects of Energized Protodermis as seen when it devolved Tahu.

Curses

The Kanohi Ignika is only destined to be worn by one being. When the destined user uses the mask, they will be consumed by its power. If any being other than the destined user even touches the mask, they are cursed by it. The following beings have been cursed by the Mask of Life:

Cursed Great Being - Inanimate objects around him come to life and cry out their needs to him. As this was the first time the mask used its powers, it accidentally made the Great Being's curse permanent.

Vezon - Became attached to an enlarged Fenrakk and was granted powers.

Kyrehx - Nearby plant life grew quickly and sought to entangle her.

Dekar - Became unable to kill any organism.

Pridak - Enhanced his negative personality characteristics (e.g. anger).

Nocturn - Instantly killed any living being he touched.

Mantax - Sapped the life force of those nearby.

Gadunka - Could devolve beings, including itself.

Jaller - Unknown curse.

Mask of Creation (Ekimu / Artakha / Envisions finished product and shows instructions / Creates already envisioned products)

Aki Nuva - Valor (Shaped like Gold Hau Nuva / Shielding / Strength / Speed)

Rua Nuva - Wisdom (Shaped like Silver Miru Nuva / Leviation / Water Breathing / X-Ray Vision)

Mask of Light and Shadow (Forced Fusion / Takutanuva / Shadow - Light / Anger - Trust / Fear - Understanding)

Considering the current state of Destiny and events in Nezarec's Lunar Pyramid appearing sooner than in the prime timeline, would it make sense for other elements and species from the games to appear such as the Hive, Vex, Cabal, Taken, Subjugators/Tormentors and Fallen (Scorn don't count unless they were made by the Witness and the Disciples) If the shard is lost, destroyed, or not found, other places worth looking would be Mercury, Io, Titan and Europa, Neptune if you're feeling frisky.

Can see the Bioformer and Autbots using guardians powres such as Solar (Fire / nuclear fusion), Arc (Lightining / electromangnetism), Void (Gravity / Spacetime distortion), Stasis (Ice), Strand (paracausual psychic energy).

Anyway that's all I can think of for now. Good luck with the story and PM me if you want my opinions within proper context.

ThermalsniperN7: With this much material, we can construct a whole arc! Lovely work.

Dragon Emperor0: Yeah.

-Center of the Planet-

The collection of Autobots and Mechticons made their way through the cavernous expanse that was Unicron's body, moving across several bridge-like formations that stretched all over the place.

"This is very unnerving. I slept better at night thinking the Earth's core was made of magma." Transmutate shuddered.

"Yeah. We might need to consult some therapists back at base after this one." Shellfire nodded in agreement, shuddering as well.

Bulkhead, meanwhile, was moving slightly slower than everyone else, his head starting to feel light, causing him to start losing consciousness.

"Hey, easy. Sleeping is the last thing you wanna do here." Dreadlock told him as he helped steady the wrecker.

"Not sleepy, woozy." He groaned.

"The Dark Energon is affecting him. It's gonna affect the rest of us, soon." Arcee noted.

"Then we should move quickly." Wingnut nodded.

Creator held up Changling's head, causing the eyes and mouth to glow as they opened, showing them where to go.

"Okay, this way." He told the group as he led the way.

Unknown to them, there was activity stirring as they trekked onwards to the heart of evil in their world.

Meanwhile, on the Nemesis, Airachnid was currently in the process of addressing the rest of Decepticons, clearly about something to do with the current events.

"My fellow Decepticons. Given the recent events that have transpired, I have decided that we should perform an exodus from Earth as soon as possible." The Arachnid femme said. "Specifically, it has come to my attention that there exists a world that may be capable of sustaining Cybertronian life." She continued, showing a jungle world that also had traits similar to Cybertron.

"Eukaris?" Breakdown questioned. "But how'd you find it? We lost contact after the Rust Plague." He added.

"I found it thanks to an old… Partner of mine." The femme replied. "Currently it is within the thrall of another empire but I'm sure our fellows would be willing to help us." She added.

"And what about Megatron?" Knockout questioned. "Surely you aren't suggesting we just leave him here." He added.

"And Ruin too." Blitzwing nodded.

"Despite Soundwave's efforts, we can't find them." Airachnid stated.

"That means they're either offline, or in Unicron's thrall." Cold Blitzwing noted.

"Impossible! Lord Megatron would never submit to anyone's will!" Lugnut denied.

"Lugnut's got a point there. The big M is far too stubborn for that." Knockout nodded.

"Regardless, we are unable to track them. Set a course for Eukaris. It's time to leave this failed experiment of a planet." Airachnid ordered as she turned around, only for Soundwave to get in her way. "You have something to say, Soundwave?" She questioned.

"We shall not abandon Megatron—Ruin." The silent Decepticon said with a remix of recently spoken lives.

"This is not up for debate, Soundwave! I am your superior officer. So you will return to your post!" The spider femme tried to order, but the silent comm specialist was unmoving.

"Soundwave, superior. Airachnid, inferior." The con retorted, stalking towards her, unphased.

Frustrated with the insubordination being thrown her way, Airachnid figured it would be best if she pummeled Soundwave into submission.

So, she attacked, but the silent 'con effortlessly parried her attacks. When he saw an opportunity, Soundwave kicked her back, causing the hunter to groan in slight pain.

"I'll tear out your spark for that!" She snarled, lunging at him again.

This was again blocked from hitting Soundwave, who then sent out Laserbeak, who started swarming the femme.

While she was distracted, Soundwave knocked her to the ground and placed his foot on her head. Airachnid tried to get up, but couldn't.

"I… Yield." She caved reluctantly, knowing she was beaten.

"Watch out for the quiet ones…" Knockout whispered, getting nods from the others.

Back with the Cybertronians in the middle of the earth, they continued to make their way to the location that Changeling's head illuminated—but something seemed off.

"I feel like something's supposed to happen." Wingnut remarked as he looked around.

As if Unicron wanted to fuck with him (which was probably accurate, actually), a massive swarm of antibodies started flying out of hiding to attack them.

"You just had to jinx it?" Octavia groaned as she readied the Requiem Blaster.

Creator was silent as the others got ready to fight back, before he suddenly clutched his head and his eyes went from their usual green to a vibrant blue that was almost white.

"At the Dawn of Time, there was only the fight. Chaos and Order, Darkness and Light." A noble, deep, powerful and ethereal voice intoned as he stepped in front of the others and suddenly snapped his fingers—which caused the antibodies to suddenly start exploding into Cybertron metal growths.

"Unicron with your destructive crave. I, determined to build and save." He continued, holding out a hand and causing the creatures to suddenly stop mid air, as if frozen in time. "Into the metal heart of Cybertron's core. I infused life, what was never before." He intoned before he clenched his fist, causing the antibodies to explode again. "From the forge of creation, Transformers came. To carry out my will, to honor my name." It continued, stretching out his arms.

"Uh… That's not the kid." Shellfire blinked, pointing out the obvious with the rest of the Mechticons nodding in agreement.

"By the Allspark…" Ratchet gasped through Dreamcatcher's electromagnetic protected communicator. "It can't be!" He exclaimed.

"I am the architect of steel and fire! Builder of worlds, creator, sire!" The voice controlling Creator's body exclaimed, as metal roots burst from his hands, skewering and bursting from everything it hit—creating vine networks of metal and cyber nucleus matter. "Crafting a future where peace can thrive. Through my creations, hope stays alive." It continued.

"It can't be…! Th-That's Primus himself!" Arcee gasped in shock.

"WHAT?!" Everyone exclaimed, eyes wide in shock.

"As time marches on. The battles rage. My creations fight across every age. Their courage, a reflection of my core. Together, facing the darkness once more." Primus intoned as he advanced on, blasting the swarms of antibodies with pure energon that seemed almost white instead of blue, frying them on the spot. "My children of metal, my power they wield. On cosmic battlefields, together we shield. In their sparks my presence remains. Guiding them through losses and gains…" He continued as he kept moving forward with the others following—until Bulkhead slipped off the ledge and accidentally took Dreadlock with him. "Guiding them through losses and gains!" He roared as more of the wild Cybertronian plant growths burst from inside Unicron, catching the two and keeping them from falling.

"As glad as I am that we're getting out of this alive for… obvious reasons, I don't like Primus being in my fiance's body." Octavia muttered, glad that their survival chances were increased, but not very thrilled at Primus himself controlling her lover's body.

Primus seemed to hear this as he seemed to double his efforts to get them through his brother's body, something that the Chaos Bringer also noticed.

"Destroyer of Worlds, Bringer of Chaos." Unicron boomed as he started attacking by summoning an Avatar, which Primus started fighting. "Eater of Planets, Destructor, Infamous." He intoned as the two traded blows. "Forging a future where darkness thrives. Through my tempest, nothing survives—." The darkness incarnate added as the two locked hands. "Through my tempest, nothing survives!" It added as they slammed their heads together, causing the avatar to crumble.

"I feel like us being here is a hazard to our health now…" Dreadlock gulped.

"For once, I think we can agree." Optimus nodded as he grabbed Changeling's head, seeing that they reached the end of their journey. "Autobots! Hold the line!" He ordered as everyone gathered around the door and let Creator/Primus step through with Optimus behind him.

… Only to find that Megatron and Madame Ruin were there.

"Optimus." Megatron chuckled.

"Megatron, Ruin. Destroy the Prime. I shall handle my brother." Unicron said in their heads as another avatar appeared.

"… Not sure what you mean by brother, but okay." Ruin nodded as they got ready to fight.

(Elsewhere)

"Ratchet, what was that?" Serena questioned as everyone looked at the resident medic.

"That was Primus himself, the creator of all Cybertronian life!" The medic replied, completely stunned.

"Wait, I thought you said Primus died a long time ago?" Jack questioned, confused.

"Not died so much as became one with the Allspark itself, allowing him to rest and recuperate should his body, our planet, be restored." Ratchet explained. "And since Creator is his direct descendant, similar to the first primes, it would seem this is allowing him to confront Unicron directly." He added.

"I feel like we should be concerned, since a god taking over the body of a mortal being can be… Less than pleasing, when it comes to the aftermath." Mathias stated, worried for his son.

"My guess is that this was part of Primus' plan for Creator. Merging their sparks together so Primus could use it to permanently rip Unicron asunder." Ratchet theorized.

"What's gonna happen to Creator after that?" Raf asked.

"If he dies, then that will be where those items of his come into play." The old bot replied, remembering the Seed of Light and Shard of Darkness.

"Let's hope you're right about that." June nodded.

(Elsewhere)

Back in the center of the planet, a fight was raging as Ruin was currently getting her ass kicked by Optimus while Megatron was trying to get free of one of Primus' metal growth traps—and Creator/Primus was fighting with the Unicron avatar.

"Grah! How is any of this possible?!" The warlord growled as he continued trying to [futilely] break free and continue fighting. The trap he was in was much stronger than it looked.

Ruin was unable to respond as she tried to get up, but suddenly felt her organs get rearranged when Optimus nailed her in the gut with a devastating punch, causing her to crash into and get stuck in the adjacent wall.

"Oh-ho, fuck… That hurt…" She groaned in pain.

And with the two struggling god brothers, they were pushing against each other with neither willing to give an inch.

"Refuse to kneel, embrace division. Proceed on your way to oblivion." Unicron growled as he broke the hold and decked Primus in the face. "Your essence, to my will you'll bow—You belong to me now!" He roared as he tried to tackle Primus, only for the bot to dodge and hold him from behind.

"For those who have followed evil, not lost forever. In the darkest night, a light to discover. Together we rise, divided we fall. There is hope for a second chance for all." Primus retorted as he held his brother's avatar as if he were embracing him. His voice is soft yet firm. It carried no malice, no hate—but rather, love. Total, unyielding, unconditional love.

This caused Unicron to roar in fury as he flew into a blind rage, breaking free from his brother's hold and attacking again, right as Megatron got free and started attacking Optimus as he was going to assist.

"You will not get in the way of Unicron's rise!" The warlord roared.

"So you say, yet here we are!" Optimus retorted as he exchanged blows with the Decepticon leader.

"Your bargaining posture is highly dubious, brother." Unicron grunted.

"Love is not something you bargain with, Unicron. That is what you never understood." The lifegiver retorted calmly.

This caused the Bringer of Chaos to roar and charge as he attacked wildly. "What I have given this world I can also take away. As Empires fall, observe their decay. To defeat Primus personally—YOU CANNOT DESTROY MY DESTINY!" He roared as he drove his crystal bladed arm through Creator's chest—only for Primus to pull it further in and hug him, pressing his forehead against his brother's.

"From the realms of light, to the depths of hell, against chaos my forces I compel." The creator said. "You bring destruction, my creation withstands. Together, united, we defend these lands." He whispered…

Right as a blinding light erupted from within Creator's chest as his and Primus' sparks—now currently merged as one—burst forth from their chamber and flew towards Unicron's spark—destroying the Avatar in the process.

The end result was Unicron's spark fading away, and the disasters on the surface of the planet came to an end just as quickly. Everyone present at the core was thrown off their feet due to a shockwave that was sent out when the ordeal happened, leaving them disoriented.

Creator, meanwhile, seemed to lose his original shape and started to form a sort of neural metal looking body that was completely devoid of any original or individual features as his portion of the previously merged spark went back into his body—wherein it locked up and covered itself in protective plating as a sort of protective stasis lock.

His Bionicle masks also fell from his person, clattering to the floor when they lost their hold on their owner.

"Ugh…" Megatron groaned as he got back to his feet, holding his head before he noticed the Bioformer's state. 'Hm… It looks like that stunt took a lot out of his body. If I can revive him as a Decepticon, then he will be a magnificent soldier!' He thought, a completely bat-shit crazy plan forming in his mind.

It was then that the Autobots and Mechticons entered the chamber, finding Optimus on the ground, Madame Ruin trying to slink away—and Megatron trying to drag something to a ground bridge that opened.

"What's he taking away?" Transmutate wondered. Octavia spotted a gold glint out of the corner of her eyes and when she turned to them, her optics widened at the sight of her fiance's Bionicle masks on the ground.

"It's Tiberius! Megatron's trying to take him!" She shouted.

"Quick! Stop him!" Shellfire barked, firing a shot at the retreating warlord.

"No!" Ruin growled as she tried to stop them as the Decepticons brought Tiberius' stasis locked form through the portal.

"Ruin, retreat, now!" Megatron boomed.

"Yes Megatron, my lov—!" The femme nodded as she attempted to break away by kicking Octavia back, only for the sound wrecker to use the Requiem Blaster to blast a hole through her chest—point blank.

"And stay dead, you psycho bitch!" The sound femme growled, not even batting an optic as Ruin fell to her knees, a dead stare on her face as Octavia shoved her aside.

Megatron saw this and his fists clenched as he retreated through the portal.

It would seem that he'd be taking that personally.

Octavia clenched her fists as she watched the ground bridge close before looking at her lover's Bionicle masks, picking them up before she rejoined the Autobots.

"They got away with him…" She growled.

"We will get him back, Octavia." Optimus assured her, placing a hand on her shoulder. "That I promise." He added resolutely.

(Elsewhere)

In a blue and white void, two figures slowly took shape, forming two humanoid shapes of a white and orange Cybertronian—sans demonic armor—and a blue, red and silver one—sans planet armor.

It was Primus and Unicron, before they had diverged so completely.

"It has been far too long, my dearest brother. I have missed you." Primus said, a tender hand on his younger sibling's shoulder.

"Why do you act like this now? Especially given the feud we've had." The World Eater questioned with a frown. "I know you hate me. You always hated me. It is in your nature to hate those of chaos." He continued.

"No brother. No." The sire of Cybertron responded firmly. "I have never and will never hate you." He continued, embracing his sibling. "You are my brother. My beloved sibling. I have always and will always love you. And no matter how many times we have fought. No matter what you have done. No matter what transgressions you have inflicted upon me, past or present. I will always love you. And that will never change. Ever." He declared.

"Wh-What?" Unicron gasped, completely taken aback for the first time since the first tick of time. "B-But I thought– Since you were our father's favorite…" He trailed off, unable to find the words in this moment of shock.

"No, Unicron. No matter how much we differ. We are the same. There is no favorite." His elder brother told him. "Come. It's time that I show you what I've been working on." He told his brother as walked hand in hand, the two becoming light orbs again before floating into the void.

Towards the Allspark, where all were one.

Dragon Emperor0: Well, guys. That's it. This is the end of the first season of the show in this story. It certainly was a long and arduous journey, but I'd say it was certainly more than worth it.

ThermalsniperN7: Yeah, it's been a wild ride. It all started with our boy being created by Primus to him arriving on Earth, and now here we are. Also, for the exchange between Primus and Unicron, we referenced two songs by Automatic Singer dedicated to each of them. The end result was a philosophical exchange, by the look of things.

Dragon Emperor0: I was actually considering scrapping this idea at first because I thought including verses of a song would become tedious to write and hard to make flow into the chapter. But then I realized, this actually sounds like a pair of divine beings having a debate in verses of hymns. Like how in Skyrim when two dragons are attacking each other, they're basically having a debate of sorts. Plus it also reminded me of the battle between Unicron and Galactus and their dialogue, so I kept it in.

ThermalsniperN7: I had wondered about that… And oh boy, Megatron took Tiberius' stasis-locked body. This can only spell bad things… Or not, if you consider the paracausal items in his possession.

Dragon Emperor0: Well technically it still spells bad things, just not for the Autobots specifically. But that'll have to wait until season two starts. Which brings me to the final announcement: As of today, this story will be going into a scheduled hiatus to allow us time to plan out season 2 and take care of other stories. So—at least for the time being—this will be the last chapter of Bioformers for the foreseeable future. Also, shoutout to Unity123 and B.E.A.T.N. you guys have been nothing but supportive to us and we cannot thank you enough, you guys are one of the many reasons this story even exists. So thank you. You're awesome.

ThermalsniperN7: Exactly. You two are some of the best people we've ever had for this story over the course of its development, and we wish for you to stick around to the end of it. Anyway, see you all after the hiatus is over.
