Chapter 14
Darkness. It's everywhere from Moroha's eyesight. "Someone help me." A boy shouts from somewhere beyond. Moroha finds herself floating, not knowing which way is up or down. "I need help!" The boy's voice shouted again in more desperate urge. Moroha uses her sense of sound to pin point the boy's voice. "Please!" It shouts once more.
'I found him.' Moroha said in her head as she goes into the direction where the voice is coming from. Her feet lands onto solid ground. Soon enough the darkness turns into a familiar location. 'The school's gym?' she asks herself to find out that the storage room door is closed, but the voice keeps shouting for help. She grabs hold of the handle.
"Identification print please." A computer voice said to her. Moroha didn't see that coming. She puts her finger onto the pad. "Access denied."
"Figures." She murmurs. "I need to get into that room."
"Is someone there?" The voice asks as he bangs onto the other side of the closed door. "Don't use the handle. I was sent in here by someone." The boy said to her. Moroha knows better that violence is not to be on school grounds but that's not going to stop her.
"Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!" Moroha shouts as she slashes the door rather easily. The door is destroyed as the boy was able to get out. "What happened?" Moroha asks him as she puts her hand onto his shoulder to calm him down.
"I was minding my own business until someone killed me." The boy said to her. Moroha can see that the boy has short green hair with violet eyes and little horns on the side of his forehead. "Aren't you Gin Fugimoto?" Moroha asks him.
Gin nods. "Ok, I don't what happened that day but since you got killed, the entire school was dismissed." Moroha tells him.
"Oh not again." Gin frowns in shock, holding his forehead.
"You mean something like this happened before?" Moroha asks him. Gin nods again. "I was a 10th grader a year ago and another student was killed at the school." Gin begins so far.
"I've heard that whenever a student is killed, the school dismisses the students so they wouldn't be curious about the cause of the death. But I believe that there's a pattern."
"How did you die?" Moroha asks him. Gin groans as he puts his one hand over a bump on the back of his head. "I was killed by forced trauma." Moroha grooms the hair aside to side a large bump. "I'm sorry that you were killed. Do you know anyone who would do such a thing?"
Gin shakes his head. "I was loved by everyone at the school. I don't even know who would kill me." Moroha sighs, "What about times that you're depressed. Has there been times you were like that?" She asks him curiously.
Gin slightly nods. "I lost my mother the week before the school started. She was amazing, even though she was a bull demon, she made sure that I was protected from the horns on our heads." He points to the horns.
Moroha can see the horns are curved upwards. "She wanted you to be safe at school." She states out the obvious detail.
"Even my father who's a human didn't care about her heritage. He wanted us to be happy. As a family. But that night, mom got hit by a drunk driver and the driver couldn't be caught at the time."
Moroha can tell that this part is getting too much for him. "My father was so upset at the police for not being able to find the driver. He tried his best to help. After hearing about my death, I bet he's more upset than ever."
Moroha holds onto the boy's shoulder. "You're too good. But you can stop if it's too much. But what about your home? Do you live near the school?" She asks him. Gin nods. "I live in the big brown house three blocks from the school. It has a symbol of horns on the door." He explains to her.
Moroha groans to find herself in her bedroom with her parents watching he. "Mom? Dad?" Her voice was hoarse but was able to be heard but Inuyasha. "Oh Moroha." Kagome embraces her daughter like a lifeline.
"What happened to me? Why do I have your sword, Dad?" Moroha moans as she tries to sit up but Inuyasha gently pressed her shoulder to put her back down. "Moroha, what was the last thing you remember?"
Moroha takes a few seconds to think back, "I was in the basement fighting off my frustrations for no reason." She honestly tells her parents.
"What do you mean 'no reason'?" Kagome asks her. Moroha grasps the sword a bit tighter. "I don't really know. I was just upset about Uncle Sesshomaru and Dad putting the mission on hold."
Inuyasha looks at her attentively. "Moroha, the mission has become more complicated than we thought. That's why it was best for you and the twins to just blend in with the school."
"But there's something else while I was out." Moroha speaks up to him.
"What happened?" Kagome speaks softly.
"I was in a dark place until I heard a voice. Then suddenly I was in the school's gym. The voice got louder when I was the door of the storage room." Moroha begins her story.
"Was there someone in there?" Kagome asks her.
Moroha nods, "Yeah. It was the boy who was found dead in that room. But some how he was alive. He told me something."
"Did he tell you who it was that killed him?" Inuyasha asks her.
"All he did say was that it was forced trauma to the back of his head. He said that one moment he was minding his own business and then the next he was killed. He just doesn't know who it was that killed him." Moroha explains to him.
"Ok, so far the boy's death has got our attention for the mission, we just need to know who was behind it." Kagome said to them.
"It might've been the one who has been killing the other students one by one." Moroha theorizes.
"But it doesn't add up. The records of the school shows that there have been different methods to kill a student. Guns, poison, suffocation, anything that can kill." Inuyasha said in a disapproval look with his arms crossed.
Kagome sigh, "Moroha, you need more rest. I'm able to tell that your spiritual powers have been drained from something. We just don't know what it was." She kissed the girl's forehead before leaving the room.
Inuyasha ruffs the girl's head in an affectionate way. "I'll let you hang on Tetsusaiga for awhile. That way your demon blood doesn't go ramped." Moroha nods to let him that she understands. Inuyasha smiles and leaves the room, closing the door quietly.
