Thank You Misarae for making sense out of the emotional mess I created.
Felina just stood looking at Jake, completely dumbstruck. She knew that she was in love with him, but she never in a million years would have guessed that he would ask her to marry him. She had always figured that she would date, fool around, and have fun with toms, since she acted very much like a tom herself. She never thought of herself as the type of she-cat who would settle down. Yet, couldn't deny that she was madly in love with Jake, and she did admit to herself that she wanted to settle down with him and have a family. She eventually said, "You are about to be the happiest tom in Megakat City. Yes, I will marry you, Jake!"
Jake took her left paw in his, opened the box, took the ring out, and slipped it on her finger.
Felina brought her paw up to her face to get a real good look at the ring. She saw the way that the diamond and amethysts sparkled in the candlelight, and she smiled. Felina brought her paw down and forcefully grabbed Jake by the collar of his jacket with both paws, bringing his face to hers. She said, "I hope you know what you just got yourself into, sure-shot." Then she brought him into a searing kiss. Felina opened her mouth and tapped Jake's lower lip with her tongue, begging for entrance. He complied, opening his mouth so his fiancée could claim him, while he slipped his paws around her waist, pulling her in closer. Savoring the taste of her in his mouth.
Callie had finished her sketch. It was far too quiet in the other room, especially if Felina was in it, so she got up and walked over to where she had left Jake and Felina. Callie's mouth dropped open when she saw Jake and Felina kissing passionately. After a few minutes of watching the make-out session in front of her, Callie said while placing her paws on her hips, "I am going to have to get some popcorn and pull up a chair if you two don't stop. Watching you two is way better than watching one of those romance movies that I like to watch."
Felina pulled back from the kiss, turned her head to look at Callie, and said, "If we kept going, the movie you would be watching will be rated way too high for TV, unlike those sappy romance things that you love to watch. By the way, Callie, it is Mrs. Clawson now, or at least, it will be." Felina showed Callie the ring on her finger.
Callie brought both of her paws up to her now open mouth and was wide-eyed in surprise. She ran over to the newly engaged couple and gave them a hug, crying tears of happiness. She said, "I am so happy for both of you!" Then she thought for a minute and her mood changed. Callie pulled back and said, "I am going to lose seeing my best friend every day. What with Chance and I living out in the suburbs, and you and Jake in the city."
Jake turned to Callie and said, "Callie, I could never breakup your friendship with Felina. I bought the house next door to yours today. We are going to be neighbors. Our kittens are going to grow up together. We will be one big family and.."
Both Callie and Felina looked at Jake, interrupting him, and asking simultaneously, "Kittens?"
Felina continued, "If you want kittens that badly, you had better figure out a way to have them yourself, mister. I am not ready to start popping out kittens yet."
Jake turned his attention to his fiancée and said, "Felina, I didn't mean right now. However, I do want to have a family while I am still young enough to enjoy them growing up. You are going to make an excellent mother to our kittens, when the time is right." Jake caressed Felina's face with his paws
Callie thought about what Jake just said about Felina being an excellent mother. She thought to herself, "Will I be a good mother to my own kittens? My kitten-hood was a happy one. I always had my mother and father around. However, I am so busy with being the deputy mayor, will I have time for my own family?"
"Come on you two, I have made dinner for the three of us. Why don't you have a seat at the table, and I will serve. You won't have to lift a finger tonight. Just leave everything to me," Jake said. He slipped out of Felina's embrace and led them both to the table. He pulled out his fiancée's chair, and once she took her seat, he pushed her in and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Jake repeated this with Callie, minus the kiss. Jake then ran off to the kitchen to get the first course and the champagne ready.
Felina and Callie watched Jake run off to the kitchen, then Callie turned to face Felina, and said, "Let me take a look at that ring."
Felina lifted her left paw up so Callie could see the ring better. Callie looked at the diamond, and saw it sparkling in the candlelight, then she noticed something more. Callie looked deeper into the stone, and saw Jake with his left arm around Felina's shoulders, while Felina cuddled something wrapped in a blanket in her arms. They were both smiling happily. As the blanket moved, she saw a small tail and a pair of ears peek out of the blanket. It was their kitten! The kitten reached its paw up from the blanket in order to get closer to its mother. Felina looked down at the kitten, and brought her face closer to the outstretched paw. The kitten stroked Felina's face with its small paw, tail swishing in happiness. Then the vision vanished. Callie smiled as she let go of Felina's paw.
Felina watched as several different emotions played over Callie's face as she looked at the ring. Felina asked, "Callie, is there something wrong with the ring?"
Callie was still smiling as she looked at her best friend, and said, "No, Felina, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the ring. It definitely belongs on your finger."
"So, then what's with the weird faces, Callie? You went from just happy to grinning like an idiot in under a minute," Felina asked.
Callie didn't want to spoil any surprises in Felina's future, so she just said, "You will find out in time, Felina. I am not telling." Then Callie wondered if she looked at her ring, would it do the same thing? She brought her left paw up so she could get a good look at the diamond in the center. Again, she saw it sparkle in the candlelight, then it showed a vision of Callista scowling at her.
"No cheating, Callie. You will find out your future as it happens. You can see your friend's future because you love her like a sister, and she feels the same way toward you. She trusts you completely, allowing you to see things that even she, herself, is not aware of. That is part of your gift, but you cannot see into your own future, just as I was not able to." Callista smiled, and said, "Give me a call. We need to start your training." Then the vision vanished.
Callie brought her paw back down and scowled just as Callista had in her vision.
Felina saw Callie scowling, and asked her, "What is wrong, now?"
"I tried to see into my future by looking into my ring, just as I saw yours as I looked into your ring, but the only thing that I saw was my grandmother scolding me, saying 'No cheating, Callie,' then the vision vanished," Callie replied.
Felina laughed at Callie being magically scolded by her grandmother as Jake came out with a tray of champagne flutes and warm bread. He placed the tray down, looked over at his laughing fiancée, and said, "What is so funny, Felina?"
"Oh, Callie tried to use her powers to predict her future. Instead of seeing what was in store for her, she was scolded by her grandmother. She's pouting just like a little kitten," Felina said to Jake, then continued laughing at her friend's expense.
Jake rolled his eyes at his fiancée's sense of humor. He started to wonder what he had gotten himself into. Then he looked back at the girls, and said, "The first course will be served shortly. Meanwhile, let's have a toast to two of the happiest couples in the city."
Callie looked down at her place setting solemnly, and said, "I wish Chance was here to celebrate with us."
At the door to the living quarters, Chance stood and said, "Did someone call my name?"
A half hour earlier:
T-Bone and Turmoil finished planting the bombs throughout Dark Kat's lair. They made their way back to the TurboKat. T-Bone got into the pilot's seat, and went over the flight systems. He noticed that the fuel was very low. He had to get fuel from the hangar, since the TurboKat did not run on standard jet fuel. He looked down at Turmoil, and said, "I need to get the TurboKat back to the hangar. It needs fuel, or we are going to drop out of the sky faster than a rock."
"Let me tell Dark Kat that we need to get fuel, and we will be back within two hours," Turmoil said, then she went to the intercom mounted on the wall. She pushed one of the buttons on the intercom to call Dark Kat. She waited for him to respond.
"Yes?" Dark Kat said.
"This is Turmoil. T-Bone and I need to go and get fuel for the TurboKat. According to T-Bone, the TurboKat does not run on standard jet fuel," Turmoil said.
"Very well, but keep your weapon trained on him at all times. I don't want him getting away or pulling any funny business, Dark Kat commanded.
"It will be done as you say, Dark Kat. Turmoil out." She walked away from the intercom, back to the TurboKat, and got into the gunner's seat. Then she said, "Let's go get the fuel and get back here. Dark Kat seems to be on edge, and we don't want to tip our hand too soon, no?"
"No, we don't. Once we are in the air, please place this blindfold on. No one knows where the hangar is except the members of SWAT. I can't protocol on that, ok?" T-Bone said.
"Ok, T-Bone," Turmoil said.
T-Bone started the engines on the TurboKat. He turned the plane around, and took off once the bay doors opened. Turmoil did as she was asked, and placed the blindfold on. Once it was secured, T-Bone made a beeline towards the hangar. He triggered the hangar door, landed, and started the fueling process. T-Bone told Turmoil to wait in the hangar, and not to wander too far away from the jet. She agreed. T-Bone went up the ladder and into the garage, closing and locking the door between the two. Then he took off his mask and made his way to the living quarters. As he opened the door, he heard Callie saying, "I wish Chance was here to celebrate with us."
He said after he entered, "Did someone call my name?"
Callie jumped up from the table and ran to Chance. She placed her arms around his neck and gave him a deep kiss. She broke the kiss, and said, "I missed you, Chance," as she looked into his eyes.
Chance looked down at her and replied, "I missed you, too. Now what is this about a celebration?"
Jake walked over to Felina, placed an arm around her, and said, "I asked Felina to marry me, and she said yes!"
"Congratulations you two! I would love to stay and celebrate with you, but I have Katerina down in the hangar while the TurboKat is being refueled. Then I have to head back to Dark Kat before he gets suspicious," Chance said. Then he looked down at his fiancée again, and said, "I'll be back within a couple of days, my love. Then I am all yours for the rest of our lives." After he finished speaking, he gave Callie another kiss, this one more passionate than the first. He opened his mouth, and begged for entrance into hers with his tongue, which she granted. Chance slipped his tongue into her mouth, tasting her as he placed his paws on her backside, while deepening the kiss further.
Callie moaned at Chance's ministrations. She so much wanted to give herself to him right then that it hurt. She did reach up and stroke his chest through his shirt to make him groan.
"You know, you are making it very hard to leave you, Callie. Please stop," Chance said.
Callie backed off, and finally saw how Chance was dressed. She whistled in approval as she studied his muscular frame in such tight clothing. Eventually she said, "You had better keep that outfit. I love the way you look in it," Callie purred, while her tail swished back and forth.
"As long as you are the only one who gets to see me in it, when all this is over." He removed his paws from Callie's backside, placed them on her upper back, and pulled her into a tight hug. After a minute, he let her go and said, "I have to get back, love. I'll see you in a couple of days." Then he turned his attention to Jake and Felina, and said, "Please keep her safe, and congratulations again. It is about time Jake wised up." Then he let Callie go, and vanished from their sight.
Chance slipped through the door into the garage. As the door closed, he stopped in his tracks, closed his eyes, and cried. His heart was breaking that he had to be away from Callie again, so soon after seeing her again. His stomach was in knots. He did not know if he could continue with the charade anymore. He thought to himself, "It was a mistake seeing Callie before this mission was over. It hurts too much leaving her again." Chance took several deep breaths and blinked his tears away as best he could, before bucking up whatever courage he had left, and making his way back to the hangar, he donned his mask again, then took one last look at the garage door before heading down the ladder, re-joining Katerina and the TurboKat.
Katerina saw the way that T-Bone was acting, and asked him, "You saw Empress, didn't you?"
T-Bone looked at Katerina with tears still in his eyes, and just nodded.
Katerina felt horrible that T-Bone was hurting so deeply. She walked over to him and gave him a comforting hug, stroking the back of his head, and saying, "If you don't feel that you can go through with this, we can come up with a different plan so you don't have to be apart from Empress."
"As much as I don't want to leave her side again, our plan is working so far. If we change it now, Dark Kat is going to get suspicious and do something rash. He needs to be in prison, or someplace where he cannot bother anyone ever again, Katerina. I want my family to live without having to worry about that menace," T-Bone said. Then he returned the hug, and said softly to her, "Thank you for understanding what I am going through. I appreciate it."
Katerina started to tear up as T-Bone spoke to her. She knew that T-Bone loved Empress with all his heart. She hoped that one day, she would find a tom that would love her the way that T-Bone loved Empress. She said, "Let's get back to our prison, before Dark Kat starts to worry that we have been gone too long."
T-Bone backed out of Katerina's embrace. He helped her back into the gunner's seat of the TurboKat, then he climbed into the pilot's seat, closed the canopy, fired the engines, took one last look at the hangar hatch, then took off into the night's sky while his heart sank into his gut.
Callie sank to the floor as her knees buckled after Chance left. She bent forward, placed her face in her paws, and bawled uncontrollably. Felina and Jake went to her, and hugged her in an attempt to comfort her. It didn't work. Callie would not stop crying.
Callista felt that something was wrong with Callie, and opened a portal to her mind. She saw Chance leaving Callie again, and Callie having visions of Chance in a coffin with Dark Kat laughing over him. Callista gasped, fearing for Callie's safety, and yelled, "Persival!"
Persival heard Callista screaming his name, and ran to her side as fast as he could. He said, "What is wrong, mistress?" as he looked at Callista with worry.
"Callie has just gone through a very traumatic experience. We need to get to her now before she uses her powers and hurts someone without realizing it," Callista said, just before she waved her glowing paw over both of them, teleporting them to Callie's side.
Callista and Persival popped into the living quarters, just to the left of the trio.
Callista walked over to them, and placed her right paw on Callie's shoulder. Callista turned her attention to Jake and Felina, and said, "I have her."
Jake and Felina got up, and just watched Callista comfort their friend.
Then Callista got down on her knees, pulled Callie into a hug, and said to her, "It's all right. Grandma's got you." Callista's paws started to glow pink, and a comforting warmth bathed Callie.
Callie stopped crying and looked into Callista's eyes, then buried her face in Callista's shoulder while returning the embrace.
Felina wrapped her arms around Jake, pulled him into a hug, and cried into his shoulder. She did not like seeing her best friend so upset that even her touch could not comfort her.
Jake returned Felina's embrace as he teared up, himself He did not ever want to see the love of his life suffer, so he did his best to ease the pain she was feeling.
Callie calmed down enough that she eventually fell asleep in Callista's arms. Callista looked down at her sleeping granddaughter, smiled, then looked at Jake and Felina. She said, "I placed Callie under a spell that will keep her calm until I can get her back to my home. She is too distraught to be away from my side. Since Callie has not had any magical training yet, she could have subconsciously used her powers and catastrophically hurt someone that she loves. If that happened, it would have killed her. I cannot allow that." Callista looked down at her granddaughter again, and saw her sleeping peacefully. Then she looked back at Jake and said, "I apologize for all of this interrupting the celebration of your engagement. Although, I told you that you would not need any luck." Callista winked at Jake, then she continued, "Please accept this gift as my way of congratulating you both." Callista waved her paw, and Jake and Felina were transported to a beach, where an elaborately decorated table for two awaited them for a romantic dinner.
Felina looked around, and asked, "Where are we?"
Jake was also trying to figure out where Callista had sent them. He looked off into the distance, and saw a sign that said 'Honolulu Grand Hotel'. He said in reply, "I guess she sent us to Honolulu, Hawaii."
Then Callista's face appeared in both of their plates, and she said, "Enjoy your two days in Honolulu. Persival and I will take care of the city, as well as Callie. Oh, and don't worry about Dark Kat. Let's just say, he is going to have an awful run of Murphy's Law for the next few days. Enjoy your stay. It is on me, so do as you please." Then she vanished.
Felina and Jake's jaws just dropped open in surprise. Callista had just given them two days, all expenses paid, in Honolulu! Jake said to Felina, "She is some piece of work. Remind me to thank her properly when we get back. By the way, how do we get back?"
Felina looked at Jake, and said, "Beats me. I guess we will find out later. Right now, I want a mai tai."
Jake flagged a waiter over and placed their drink order. As the waiter left, he took Felina's paw in his, and said, "I am so happy that you are going to marry me, Felina." Then he leaned in for a kiss that Felina graciously returned.
Callista watched Jake and Felina vanish from sight. Then she waved her paw again, and all of the food that Jake had prepared was packed away in the refrigerator, and the place was spotless. She then said to Persival, "Time to go back home and get Callie into bed. Tomorrow morning is going to be tough for her." Callista waved her paw one last time, and the three of them were teleported back to the spacious apartment over her shop. With Persival's help, she got Callie into bed. Callista gave Callie a kiss on the forehead and then left Callie sleeping peacefully with Persival at her side.
End of Chapter.

I had to re-publish this chapter. The first paragraph somehow was missing from the one that I posted yesterday.
