Callista watched Jake and Felina vanish from sight. Then she waved her paw again, and all of the food that Jake had prepared was packed away in the refrigerator, and the place was spotless. She then said to Persival, "Time to go back home and get Callie into bed. Tomorrow morning is going to be tough for her." Callista waved her paw one last time, and the three of them were teleported back to the spacious apartment over her shop. With Persival's help, she got Callie into bed. Callista gave Callie a kiss on the forehead and then left Callie sleeping peacefully with Persival at her side.
T-Bone and Turmoil were soaring through the sky as they made their way back to Dark Kat's lair. After arriving, they landed in the unusually dark hangar. T-Bone shut down the engines on the Turbokat, opened the canopy, and got out of his seat first. Then he helped Turmoil out of her seat. They shared a quick look, then left the dark hanger in silence. As they walked back to Dark Kat's planning area, they noticed that the entire lair was without power. When they finally arrived, they saw Dark Kat holding a flashlight in his paw. He asked, "Was there a blackout in the city?"
Turmoil and T-Bone looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. T-Bone turned to look at Dark Kat and replied, "No, the only place that seems to be without power is here. You forget to pay the electric bill?"
Dark Kat threw the flashlight at T-Bone, which T-Bone aptly dodged. Then in frustration, Dark Kat commanded, "Get out, both of you!"
T-Bone and Turmoil retreated from the planning area to leave Dark Kat to brood in the darkness. As they walked down another dark tunnel, T-Bone asked, "What happened to the power?"
Callista watched the whole scene unfold through a portal that she had opened. Callista chuckled at Dark Kat's misfortune. Eventually, she said, "Dark Kat, you messed with my granddaughter's happiness. Now you answer to me." Callista waved her paw over the portal, then she said, "You are already without power. Now let's see how you do with a tiny, little water leak." She watched the portal closely.
Dark Kat was already fumbling around in the dark, when he heard something that sounded like running water. A lot of it. Dark Kat felt his feet getting wet. He cursed, then said, "What else can go wrong today?" Then the power came back on, followed by a series of explosions from various pieces of equipment that were sitting in the standing water. Dark Kat screamed, "NO!"
Callista started laughing so hard, she lost her footing and fell backwards. Once she calmed down, she said, "That will delay him for a few days." Then she got up from the floor, closed the portal, and went to go check on Callie.
Jake and Felina were having the time of their lives just talking about the past. It didn't hurt that the alcohol content in the drinks that they had was quite high. The waiter came back and said, "Madam, your attire is not suitable for this establishment. Will you please come with me? We just received your luggage, and I am sure that you will find something more suitable in there." Then he held out his paw to lead Felina back to the hotel.
Felina got up from her seat, turned to Jake, and said, "I'll be right back." She turned to the waiter, took his paw, and left with him.
Jake watched his fiancée leave with the waiter, and he was slightly jealous of the waiter holding her paw. It could have been the alcohol talking, but he liked the way that Felina's hips were swaying as she walked. He turned away from his fiancée and retrieved his phone from his pocket. Jake opened the phone to see if Deanna had called, and upon seeing one new voicemail message, he listened to it. "Jake, this is Deanna. We got the contract back from the attorneys, and everything is in order. The wire transfer is also ready to go. All we need is your signature, and everything will be sent back to the agent. Please call the office."
Once Felina arrived at the hotel, she was told that her luggage had been placed in a changing area located just to the right of the reception desk. She walked over to the changing area, Felina found a garment bag and a shoe bag. She opened the garment bag, and found an elegant, Asian-inspired dress. The dress was made out of a deep emerald-colored silk. She removed the dress from the bag and held it against her body. Felina placed the dress down and removed her clothes and bra, since the dress was backless. After dressing, she looked at herself in the mirror. Felina liked what she saw. She loved that her legs and back were exposed, and also the way the material clung to her curves. The only thing that she did not like was that if someone looked at her from just the right angle, they could see her breasts. She would just have to be careful how she moved. Felina slipped the shoes on, and left to return to Jake. Felina saw Jake with his phone in his paws. She struck a seductive pose and said, "What do you think, Jake?"
Jake was about to call the office when he heard Felina's voice. He turned his head in the direction that he heard his fiancée's voice coming from, then he dropped his phone at the sight before him. Felina stood with her feet shoulder width apart, wearing a dress that did very little to hide her legs. The dress was fastened at her neck, the fabric modestly covering the front of her body, but the design of a golden dragon snaked upward, its sinuous body curling around her breasts and setting them off to perfection. In the back, however, the fabric plunged all the way down to her waist, leaving her entire back bare. The skirt of the dress flowed downward toward the floor, but two wide slits rose from the hem to stop only a few inches below her waist, her shapely legs clearly visible. Felina looked absolutely gorgeous wearing it.
Felina saw Jake's facial expression and guessed that he liked what he saw. She walked over to him, placed her arms around his neck, nibbled on his right ear, then said through a purr, "Like what you see, Jake? Wait until you see what is in store for you tonight."
Jake snapped out of his stupor as Felina nibbled on his ear. He brought his head around to claim her mouth in a kiss. After breaking the kiss, he said, "If that dress is any indication of what you have in store for me tonight, I am one dead cat." He kissed her again.
Felina broke the kiss and removed her arms from around Jake. Then she returned to her seat at the table just as the waiter arrived with their dinner. After they were served, the waiter bowed to both of them and said, "Enjoy your dinner." Then he left.
Jake and Felina looked at their plates and saw the seared Mahi Mahi that they had ordered. The odor of the fresh fish was intoxicating. They had fresh fish back in the city, but nothing like this. It must have just been caught that day. It was served with a side of roasted broccoli and long grain wild rice. Everything looked delicious. They tried the Mahi Mahi first. The fish melted in their mouths, and tasted better even than it looked, which was very hard to believe. The pair ate in silence. After finishing, the attentive waiter came back, cleared their plates, and left.
Jake reached across the table, took Felina's paws in his, and just stared into her eyes. He could not believe that he was going to marry this beautiful she-cat that was sitting across from him. He thought that she would have turned him down, just as he had been back in college. Callie had been right, though. Felina would never hurt him.
Felina felt Jake's mood change ever so slightly in the way that he was holding her paws. She asked, "Are you ok, Jake?"
"Yes, I am fine, Felina." He looked away for a second, then forced himself to meet her eyes again before saying, "I never thought that you would agree to marry me. I figured that you would have your fun, get tired of me, and then move on. I thought that I was not good enough for you."
Felina removed her paws from his, then said sternly, "Not good enough for me? You have got to be joking! I thought that I would not be good enough for you. Jake, you are kindest, most unselfish, and loving tom that I know. Yes, it took Chance kicking me in the tail to realize that I was ready to settle down and become your wife, but there was no way that I could have turned you down. If you ever doubt again that you are 'Good enough for me,' I will kick your tail so hard that you are going to need a cast. Is that clear?"
Jake was taken aback by Felina's response. She thought that she was good enough for him. Now, that was a kick in the tail. Jake looked deeply into Felina's eyes and said, "I promise never to doubt my worthiness of you again, Felina." Jake leaned across the table to give her an apologetic kiss, which she aptly leaned into and returned. They broke the kiss after a few seconds as the waiter returned with their desserts and after dinner cordials.
Jake and Felina shared each other's dessert, feeding each other lovingly. Dinner ended and Jake got out of his seat first, walked over to Felina, and pulled her chair out so she could get up easier. Felina got up from her seat, gave Jake a small kiss on the cheek, and said "Thank you, love."
Jake replaced her chair at the table and took her right paw in his. They took a romantic stroll along the beach, walking paw in paw, and just listened to the waves crashing against the shoreline. They did this until the sun set, then they made their way back to the hotel for the night. They walked through the rear entrance to the hotel so they would not track any sand into the lobby, and went to the front desk to get the key to their room. Jake took the key from the attendant and took Felina's paw again as they walked to the elevator. They got into the elevator and attempted to press the button for their floor. Nothing happened. Jake placed the room key in the keyhole next to the button and gave it a turn. The elevator's doors closed and proceeded to take them to their floor. Jake said, "I guess we are staying in one of the more private areas of the hotel." The elevator stopped at its destination and opened up into a state room. Jake and Felina got out of the elevator and looked around the spacious room. The room had a sitting area with windows and a sliding glass door that led to a balcony that faced the ocean. It also had a full kitchen and two separate bedrooms. Felina thought to herself, "Callista went all out for us. This is very impressive."
Jake had walked over to the balcony and was staring out at the ocean, enjoying the sea breeze. Felina joined him on the balcony and wrapped her arms around him, then said, "I have something better for you to stare at, Jake. Care to join me in the other room?" She removed her arms from him and walked to the master bedroom with her hips and tail swaying seductively. Jake saw the way that Felina was walking and he gulped, then followed his fiancée.
Jake entered the bedroom to see his fiancée disappear into the bathroom. He removed his jacket and tie, then sat down on the bed and awaited her return.
Felina removed her dress and underwear, and put on the sleepwear that apparently Callista picked out for her. It consisted of a black lace teddy that barely covered her breasts and was so high cut that that it was almost a thong. The outfit also had a garter belt that attached to a pair of thigh high stockings. As Felina finished putting on the outfit, she saw a note at the bottom of the box. She read the note, "This is guaranteed to drive Jake wild with passion. Please go easy on him. Callista." Felina placed the note back in the box and made her way back to the bedroom and her awaiting prey.
Jake heard the bathroom door open and watched as Felina stepped into his line of sight. He said, "I must be dead, because I am looking at an angel."
"Nope, you are looking at a devil. Come and worship me, servant," Felina replied.
Jake did as he was instructed and walked over to his fiancée, wrapped his arms around her waist, and pulled her into a sensuous kiss, which she returned. He ran his hands up her back to the straps of the teddy and pulled them off of her shoulders as he kissed her neck, feeling her rapidly increasing pulse.
Felina was moaning in pleasure as Jake sucked on her neck just above the shoulder. She yearned to feel his naked body against her form. She grabbed his shirt and tore it open. The buttons went flying all over the place.
Jake backed off just enough for Felina to remove the rest of his shirt and to let the teddy fall, leaving her only in the stockings and garter belt. He took a moment to appreciate the incredible sight before him, then took her back into his arms, kissing her with renewed vigor.
Felina broke the kiss and grinned at Jake. Then she said, "Take me, Jake. Make me purr."
Jake picked her up bridal style and carried her over to the bed. After he placed her down on the bed, he quickly removed the rest of his clothing, got on top of her, and claimed her mouth in another fiery kiss while making love to her.
Callista walked to the room where Callie was sleeping. She opened the door and looked in. Callie apparently hadn't stayed in the bed too long. Callista saw her granddaughter blissfully asleep on the floor with her arms wrapped around Persival's neck. Persival awoke when Callista opened the door. Callista giggled softly at the sight of Callie snuggling up to Persival like a kitten would to a favorite stuffed toy. She walked over, got on her knees, and gave Callie a soft kiss on the back of her head, then she gave Persival a good scratch behind his ear. He purred at her touch. Callista got back up, walked out of the room, and closed the door.
Callie was having very pleasant dreams that night. She dreamt that she and Chance were married. They had moved into their house, and she was very pregnant with their first kitten. As the dream commenced, she went into labor. Chance picked her up and rushed her to the hospital. They wheeled her into the delivery room where their midwife was waiting, along with their Pediatrician to help her along with the birth. Callie's contractions were coming faster than normal. The midwife told her that it was time to get that kitten out. Callie started to push, hard. Chance held her paw to comfort her as much as possible. He told her to squeeze his paw as hard as she needed to ease the discomfort. Callie did, and squeezed his paw like she was squeezing an orange as she pushed. Chance flinched at his wife's strength, but it was nothing compared to giving birth to a kitten. Finally, the kitten's head emerged, followed by the body. After a brief second, the delivery room was filled with the sounds of a crying newborn kitten.
Chance never felt prouder in all his life. He was now a father. He bent down and kissed Callie. But Callie was not done yet. She felt another contraction. The midwife looked at Callie and asked, "Did you know that you were carrying twins?"
Callie replied, "No, there was only one heartbeat."
"Well, Callie, you are about to give birth to another kitten," the midwife said.
Callie bared down again and pushed as hard as she could. The second kitten came out easier than the first one did. Now the cries of two kittens filled the delivery room.
Chance could not be happier. He was the father of twin kittens. He got up to take a look at the kittens when the midwife said, "We are still not done. You have one more still in there. This one should be real easy." He resumed his position, next to his wife.
Callie was exhausted. She had just given birth to twins. Now she was being told that there was one more. She grabbed Chance by the scrubs and pulled him to her, then said, "I am going to have you fixed. I am not doing this again." Then the contractions started up again. The third kitten arrived. This time there was little discomfort. It started crying immediately after it was born.
Callie just laid back in exhaustion, breathing heavily. Eventually she said, "Can I see my kittens?"
Chance got up from his seat and went to get their kittens. As he held all three kittens in his arms, he brought them over to their mother. All of them stopped crying immediately as they saw Callie for the first time. It didn't matter that she was dead tired. She couldn't help but smile.
Chance was on cloud nine at that moment. He could not believe his luck. He was holding his three beautiful kittens in his arms. The kittens all looked up at him, started mewing, and stretching their arms to touch their father. Chance brought his kittens up to his face and gave each one a kiss. All the kittens smiled as they touched their father for the first time.
The dream ended as Callie smiled in her sleep, bringing Persival a little closer to her, as if she were cuddling a newborn kitten.
Persival did not mind at all. In fact, he loved his mistress' touch. It warmed his heart that he could hear Callie's soft mewing as she slept cuddled up with him. He was going to miss these moments once she got married. She would have her husband to cuddle up with instead of him. Persival just enjoyed the time that he had left with her. He fell into a deep sleep, instinctively wrapping a protective wing around Callie.
Morning came sooner than expected. Callista was the first to rise as she felt the sun's rays warming her body. She got up and slipped into a robe. Then she left her room to check on Callie and Persival. She walked down the hall, stopped at Callie's door, and opened it. Callista let out an "Aw" as she saw Callie buried under one of Persival's wings. Callista whipped up a camera and took a picture of the sleeping pair.
Persival saw the flash of the camera out of the corner of his eye, since he was awake, but he did not want to move so he would not disturb his mistress' slumber. He did ask Callista, "What was that for?"
"That was for Callie's scrapbook. She has not had one of your wings draped over her since she was ten. Callie is going to want to see this," Callista said. Then she got down on her knees and saw Callie smiling from ear to ear, sleeping so peacefully. Callista wondered what she was dreaming about. She placed a paw on Callie's forehead and concentrated. Callie's dream started to play for Callista. She said, "This won't do. Callie cannot see into her future through her dreams. What she learns while dreaming might hurt her." Callista erased the dream from Callie's memory.
Callie started to stir as Callista worked her magic. She opened her eyes and felt the warmth of a feathery blanket encompassing her, and also the comforting touch of her grandmother's paw on her forehead. "Morning, Callista. Persival. How did I end up on the floor?"
"Sometime during the night, you left your bed, laid down next to me, and placed your arms around my neck, mistress. I did not want you to get cold, so I wrapped my wing around you to keep you warm," Persival said as he retracted his wing.
"The last thing that I remember was Chance leaving me again to go back to Dark Kat. Then I had a vision of Chance laying in a coffin with Dark Kat laughing over him," Callie said as she started to tear up again at the thought.
"It was only a vision, Callie. It does not mean that it is going to happen. You were so upset after Chance left, that I feared you might hurt one of your friends with your powers. That is why you were brought here last night. We are going to start your training today. By the time you leave, you will not only know how to control your powers, but also some things that will help you shield your thoughts and dreams from other magic users," Callista said.
"What about Dark Kat? He is planning on taking over the treasury within the next few days. I can't let Felina and Jake handle him by themselves," Callie explained to Callista.
"You don't have to worry about Dark Kat for a while. You might say he's run into some trouble lately. With a little assistance from yours truly, that is," Callista said with a chuckle.
Callie laughed along with her grandmother, then she asked, "What did you 'assist' him with?"
"Well, first I took away his electricity. Then I created a water leak in his lair. I turned the power back on after that, but I guess it fried several pieces of equipment that he needed," Callista said through a chuckle.
Callie rolled her eyes at her grandmother. She could not figure out who had the worse sense of humor at the moment, Felina or Callista.
"Go get cleaned up for breakfast, Callie. I don't want Persival's fur all over the place. He is shedding, and you are covered in it," Callista said.
"I don't shed, milady," Persival retorted as he turned to face Callista.
"No?" Callista said as she rubbed her paw over his back and came up with a paw full of dense black fur. "What do you call this, Persival?"
Persival hung his head low before saying, "I guess I need a brushing." He then raised his head, turned to Callie, and asked with excitement, "Care to give me one, as you did when you were younger? I liked the way that you brushed my fur."
"Sure, Persival. Let me clean up, eat breakfast, and then I'll give you a brushing," Callie said.
Callista left after brushing her paw clean of Persival's excess fur. She went to shower and change into something comfortable, since she was going to be training Callie, as well as helping her brush Persival.
Callie gave Persival a gentle scratch behind the ears before heading off to her bathroom to shower up for the day. She wondered what Chance was doing at the moment. She concentrated hard. Then she saw an image of T-Bone with his pants rolled up to his knees, mopping up water from the floor. Callie laughed that her fiancé was cleaning up after her grandmother's mess. She got into the shower, washed up, dried off, and then changed into a pair of loose workout clothes. She looked at herself in the mirror and did not like the way the clothes looked on her. She thought of a more appropriate outfit that was sitting in her apartment. Callie concentrated on the outfit that she wanted, and it appeared on her body. She was now wearing a form fitting pair of leggings and a tank top. She said to herself, "This is much better than that other outfit that just hung on me like a curtain." Then she left her room and headed towards the kitchen.
Callista was already in the kitchen reading the morning paper when Callie came in. She looked at her granddaughter and said, "I am going to sell a lot of merchandise in the shop today with you wearing that."
"It's not much different than what you are wearing, grandma," Callie teased as she saw that Callista was wearing a tight pair of blue jeans and a matching figure-hugging shirt.
"Touché, Callie. Now let's make breakfast. No using your paws, only magic. Clear your mind of all thoughts, then picture what you want to have happen in your mind. Then concentrate on that image," Callista said.
Callie cleared her mind, then she thought of a pan going to the stove from the cabinet. Since she had done something similar in the past at the garage, she thought it would be easy. The cabinet opened, and a pan emerged, floating its way to the stove before settling on one of the burners. Callie smiled at her accomplishment. She asked, "How hungry are you, Callista?"
Callista looked up from her paper and said, "Two eggs over easy, please, with a slice of toast." She then resumed her reading.
Callie admitted to herself that she was not much of a cook, but she would do her best. She visualized the refrigerator opening. Then three eggs and a loaf of bread emerged from the refrigerator, followed by the refrigerator closing. Everything happened as she envisioned. So far, so good. Now for the actual cooking.
Callista checked on Callie's progress by lowering the top of the newspaper slightly. Seeing nothing amiss, she pulled the paper back up and continued reading.
Callie turned on the stove's burner manually. She did not want to take the risk of starting a fire. Callie willed the floating eggs over to the awaiting hot pan and the loaf of bread over to the toaster. She breathed a sigh of relief that things were going smoothly so far.
Callie concentrated on the eggs first, since they were going to be the hardest thing for her to make. The last time she had decided to make eggs, she ended up throwing out the pan, since the eggs were so burnt on that they became a permanent part of the pan. Callie carefully willed one of the eggs to the edge of the pan, then she tried to envision lightly tapping the egg on the side of the pan to crack it open. She managed to get the vision right, but the actual cracking of the egg against the side of the pan was going to take a little practice. The first egg hit the side of the pan so hard that it almost flipped the pan off of the stove as it spilled its contents in the pan and onto the stove. Callie stared at the mess in frustration.
Callista heard the commotion over at the stove, and dropped the top of her newspaper to see what was happening. She saw the aftermath of the first egg hitting the pan, and Callie staring at the mess. She said, "Don't lose your focus."
That was all it took for Callie to stop concentrating on her task. The eggs dropped to the floor, the loaf of bread hit the counter, spilling everywhere, and Persival bolted like a frightened kitten, running for cover under the kitchen table to escape the mess being made right before his eyes. Unfortunately, the space under the table was not big enough for Persival to fit under, so he ended up knocking the entire table over. Again, Persival took off running, knocking Callista over in his wake.
Callie just stood there, laughing at the chaos that she and Persival had caused. Then she went to find a mop and bucket to clean up.
Callista was still in her seat, although her seat was no longer resting on its feet. The chair sat comfortably on its backrest with its owner still in it. Callista waited until Callie was out of earshot, then she started to laugh, herself. The look on Persival's face had been hilarious as he ducked under the table to get out of the disaster area that Callie had caused. Callista got up and folded her newspaper, then looked at the mess. She placed her paws on her hips, wiggled her nose, and magically, the mess disappeared. The kitchen was spotless again. Satisfied at her cleaning job, she uprighted her chair, unfolded her paper, and crossed her legs as she continued reading.
Callie came back with a mop and a bucket that she had found in a closet at the end of the hall, only to find the kitchen spotless. Callie looked over at Callista and said, "What happened to the mess that I made? I was expecting to clean it up." Callie held up the mop to emphasize her point.
"I told you, magic only. Since the mess was created by magic, it was cleaned up by magic," Callista said as she got up and walked over to Callie. Then she placed a paw on Callie's shoulder and said, "I figured that this would happen. It was too much for you to magically multitask without proper training. You will get the hang of using your powers soon enough. Let's go to the diner around the corner for breakfast. That is, after we find that 'Scaredy Cat', Persival. I have never seen him take off like that."
Callie laughed at Persival being called a Scaredy Cat. Who would have thought that a large magical puma could have been frightened off so easily by one magical meal going awry.
