Stacy woke up when she heard the sounds of Roger laughing quite loudly in the living slid out of her bed, dressed in her red and green plaid flannel pajamas and went to check on what Roger was up to.
As she walked down the stairs to the living room, she heard him squeal in delight again. Since Roger was normally very quiet when he knew she had to work late, Stacy was very concerned as to what was going on this particular morning. She left the stairwell and entered the living room to see Roger still dressed in his light blue footie pajamas siting on the couch with Rolf, watching some cartoon. Her concern faded, knowing that Roger was completely safe.
The show ended and Roger looked up at Rolf with a smile on his young face. He then asked, "Rolf, can I call you daddy?"
Stacy trembled in nervousness as the question left her son's mouth. She looked over to Rolf who also shocked with Roger's sudden question. However, Rolf knew he grown quite fond of Roger and he was very fond of him. "Come here Roger," Rolf said as he patted his thighs motioning for Roger to sit in his lap.
Roger sat in his lap and after Rolf put his paws on Roger's waist, he answered Roger's question, "Roger, I'm not your father but if it makes you happy to call me daddy, then I'm ok with you doing so."
Roger jumped out of his lap and encircled his arms around Rolf's neck. "Thank you, daddy,"
Rolf felt real good holding Roger in his arms with the young kitten's arms around his neck. He kissed Roger's cheek, then said, "Go and get changed, then we will make breakfast for your mother."
Roger bound out of his lap and ran past his mother without stoping.
Stacy watched as her son ran up the stairs to get changed. Then she turned to Rolf and said, "You handled that very well Rolf."
Rolf rose from the couch and went over to Stacy. He looked down at her and said, "Roger makes it so easy to like him. He is a great kitten and if it makes him happy to call me his father, I'm more than happy to let him do it."
"Rolf, we have only been dating for a short time, do you really think its wise to let Roger call you his father?" She asked.
"Why shouldn't he Stacy?" He asked in return. "I really like being with Roger and he likes being with me and besides, I'm more or less living with you anyway so I might as well be his father."
"Rolf, that is a little presumptuous of you. I do like you a lot and as far as you staying here, its only temporary until you are cleared to return to the academy," Stacy said.
"So how about we make this more permanent then Stacy?" Rolf asked.
Stacy backed up from him and asked as she put her paws on her hips, "What are you saying Rolf?"
"I'm asking if I can move in here Stacy. I really like waking up here and being with Roger and and you is an added bonus," Rolf said.
Stacy closed the distance between the two of them, wrapped her arms around his neck, then said, "Just an added bonus? Well, I'm going to have to change that." She lifted herself up and kissed him."
Rolf responded to her kiss and wrapped her arms around her waist. He pulled back just enough to look into her eyes for a second, then kissed her again, even deeper as his right paw wandered down to her tail.
Stacy opened her mouth and accepted his tongue, letting it glide across hers.
Rolf was about to pick Stacy up in his arms and take her back upstairs, when he heard Roger say, "Mommy is kissing daddy again."
Their mouths separated and simultaneously looked at the kitten who was now dressed in a pair of dark blue overalls and a white long-sleeved shirt. Stacy laughed then asked, "Roger, how would you feel if Rolf moved in here, for good?"
Roger's eyes went wide with happiness and he ran towards them. Roger grabbed both of their legs, placed his right cheek against Rolf's thigh, and said, "I'd love it mommy!"
Rolf let go of Stacy and picked up Roger. He then said, "Why don't we get my sister and have a day out? The doctor said I needed to get some exercise anyhow, and what better way than to go to a park or somewhere fun where Roger can run around all he wants!"
"I like that idea Rolf," Stacy said. "I just happen to have the day off and Roger could use some fresh air. Let's eat some breakfast and afterwards, call Marissa and see what she's up to."
Marissa was already up and in the hangar, studying manuals that Jake wrote on both the TurboKat as well as the Cyclotrons. "Ugh, I just want to ride the Cyclotron, not build one. Why do I need to learn all of this engineering stuff?" She asked before she laid her head down on the open manual.
Her phone started ringing in her pocket and she reached down to grab it without lifting her head from the manual. She brought it to her right ear and answered, "Jake, if this is you, I admit defeat. You really expect me to learn all of this?"
"Sis, its Rolf," he responded. "What are you trying to learn?" Rolf asked.
Marissa bolted upright when she realized that it was not Jake on the other end of the line. She then said, "I'm trying to learn about the rifle I'm supposed to be shooting at the range brother. We were told we needed to learn everything about it, what's up?"
"Stacy and I are going to take Roger to the park and was wondering if you want to join us Marissa?" Rolf asked.
Marissa looked down at the manual again and the long math formula on the open page. She slammed the manual closed and said, "I'm in brother, which park are you going to?"
"I'm not sure but it will be kitten friendly. I'll call you back after we finish eating breakfast sis, bye," Rolf said before he hung up the phone.
Marissa got up from her seat with the manual in her right paw and went over to a shelf that contained every engineering manual Jake had wrote for SWAT. She slid the manual back into its proper place, then said, "My brother is so far gone over Stacy and he doesn't even realize it. I'd admit, I'm happy for him, Stacy is a great match for him and she is going to make him very happy." She looked over to her locker which was right next to Felicia's and went over to it. She opened her locker, ran her left paw over the material of her uniform, then asked herself, "I wonder if Roger has ever met a super-heroine before? One way to find out." She pulled out her uniform in order to change into her alternate persona.
Breakfast was finished quickly and Rolf cleaned up the dishes while Stacy made sure that Roger brushed his teeth and used the bathroom.
Rolf called his sister back with the location of the park Stacy suggested, then met Stacy and Roger at the front door of the house before he picked up Roger and put him on his shoulders. They left the house and after he and Stacy walked down the stairs, he took her paw in his and walked along side her all the way to the park.
Marissa put on her uniform and despite complaining earlier to Felina how she felt exposed, she really liked the way it fit her. The light gray material with the red and blue accents showed off every curve of her body and the battle skirt she added to the uniform even made it more attractive. The skirt was just long enough to cover her tail section but not long enough to impede the design of being aerodynamic. She went over to one of the Cyclotrons, got on the impressive machine, and started it. After letting the engine purr for a few minutes, Sure-Shot kicked her left foot down, placing the Cylcotron into first gear and left the hangar.
Stacy and Rolf were standing by a wooden swing set while Roger swung happily on one of the swings. He was as happy as a three year old could be but he wanted to be pushed so he could go higher. "Daddy, can you push me please?"
Even though they talked about Roger calling Rolf 'Daddy' to actually hear the word leave the kitten's mouth made Rolf feel very warm. He said with a large smile on his face, "Sure thing, son."
Stacy heard Rolf call Roger his son and once again, she got the feeling that the two were getting too attached to the other. However, she watched as Rolf push Roger on the swing and felt like this is how a family should be. She leaned against the sturdy wooden frame, watching Rolf and Roger play.
Sure-Shot entered the park and rode upon a group of female teenagers who were sitting against a large boulder, listening to some music. She stopped in front of them, turned her head to face the girls, and asked, "Can one of you please tell me where the playground is?"
One of the girls who was wearing a short red skirt and a green tight t-shirt left the group and came over to her. She eyed her skin-tight uniform as well as the Cylclotron, then asked, "And just what are you supposed to be?"
"I'm Sure-Shot, one of the SWAT Kats," she replied.
"No way! The SWAT Kats are all toms from what I have been told," the teenager said.
"You're wrong, there are more females than males on the squad right now. What's your name?" Sure-Shot asked.
"It's Debbie."
"Well Debbie, what if I told you that not only do the she-cats out number the toms, but one of them is an all powerful sorceress, another is a sharp shooter, and another one is a ace pilot," Sure-Shot said.
"Impossible! My tomfriend says that a she-cat can't be better than a tom," Debbie said.
"Then your tomfriend is a complete jerk! A she-cat can do anything a tom can and do it better!" Sure-shot said.
Debbie crossed her arms and cocked her hips to the left, then said, "Prove it!"
Sure-Shot scowled and asked, "Alright, what do you want me to do to prove to you that I'm just as good, if not better than a tom?"
Debbie looked around to see if there was anything she could use to test out Sure-Shot's abilities. She noticed a few bollards that would just be spaced far enough for Sure-Shot to maneuver the Cyclotron through at a slow pace. But that test wasn't good enough for her. She answered, "See those concrete bollards over there? I want you to slalom through them as fast as you can."
Sure-Shot looked over to where Debbie was pointing to and saw the bollards. She quickly gauged the distance between them and remembered what the manuals told her about where the center of gravity was on the Cylcotron. Sure-Shot smirked at Debbie, then said, "If I pass your test, you are going to dump that jerk and find a real tom that respects what a she-cat can do. Deal?"
"Deal, but if you can't do it, you remove your mask and reveal to me and my friends exactly who the SWAT Kats are," Debbie said.
"Agreed!" Sure-Shot said as she got off the Cyclotron and confidently went over to the bollards to closely examine the distance between them.
Debbie and her friends watched as Sure-Shot walked over to where her 'Test' was with her head held high, the heels of her boots clicked on the macadam with every confident step she took, and her hips swaying in the tight material of her uniform.
One if Debbie's friends jumped off of the boulder, went over to Debbie, and asked, "Are you sure about this bet Deb?" Rachel watched as Sure-Shot crouched down with her legs spread and picked up a few pieces of loose gravel from between the bollards in her left paw and right herself before she walked back to her bike. "Peter is not going to like it when you break up with him."
"I'm not breaking up with Peter Rach," Debbie said. "She has no chance of winning this bet!"
Sure-Shot heard Debbie telling her friend she wasn't going to win and that made her want to prove Debbie wrong more than ever. She swung her left leg over the Cyclotron and sunk into the seat before she grabbed the handgrips, revved the engine, and put it in gear. She rode over to the start of the course, rode a circle around it, then rode the Cyclotron about sixty yards away from the first bollard. With the front brake applied, Sure-Shot revved the engine, let out the clutch, which caused the rear tire to spin on the pavement, creating a cloud of white smoke coming from the rear tire, then once the tire was up to temperature, she let go of the brake.
The Cyclotron responded and bound faster and faster towards the first bollard.
Sure-Shot lifted the left corner of her mouth as she leaned the Cyclotron to the left, bringing it around the first bollard, then leaning hard to the right, effortlessly slaloming the Cyclotron thorough the maze of bollards.
Debbie and her friends watched in amazement and disbelief that Sure-Shot was able to maneuver the bike through the bollards. Then Rachel said, "Shall I call Peter now and tell him you two are done? I'm not sure what you saw in him anyway Deb, he always treated you badly."
Debbie didn't answer but watched as Sure-Shot reached the end of the course, dropped her left foot down to the pavement, and brought the back end of the bike around, using her foot as a pivot point. Sure-Shot then brought the front wheel of the Cyclotron, high into the air and rode back to where Debbie was standing on the rear wheel alone. After she brought the front tire back down to the pavement, she whipped her head around to face Debbie, then asked, "Was that fast enough for you? If not, I can do it again, faster."
Debbie's face showed that she was defeated. However, she was also very impressed the way Sure-Shot handled the bike. She went over to her, ran her left paw over the metallic gas tank, as well as ghosting her fingers over Sure-Shot's left thigh. "That was very impressive, I have to admit," she said before she asked, "Can you take me for a ride?"
"I don't see why not, get on," Sure-Shot replied and waited for Debbie to get on the back of the Cyclotron.
Debbie swung her right leg over the Cyclotron and brought herself close to Sure-Shot. She wrapped her arms around Sure-Shot's waist, leaving her paws on her abs. "I'm ready," Debbie said.
Sure-Shot revved the motor, then let out the clutch and slowly rode around the lot.
Rachel noticed a change in her friend and went over to another she-cat, and asked, "Did I just see Debbie hit on a SWAT Kat?"
"Oh, yes you did! I can't believe that the most popular girl in school wants to go after an older she-cat!" Veronica replied.
Sure-Shot returned Debbie to her friends, then said, "I hope you learned that a female can do anything that a male can do Debbie. Look, you don't have to break up with your tomfriend but I want you to be confident with yourself."
"I do have to breakup with my tomfriend and I promise to be more confident in myself, starting now," Debbie said right before she grabbed Sure-Shot's lapels and brought her over to seal their lips in a searing kiss. She broke the kiss, then said, "I hope that wasn't too over the top Sure-Shot? I.. sort of like you."
"I can tell and I'm flattered Debbie. But this will never work," Sure-Shot said as she got off of the Cyclotron. She then put both of her paws on Debbie's shoulders, then said as gently as she possibly could, "I'm a vigilante and much older than you are. You will find someone that will make you feel loved and let you be yourself sometime Debbie. However, if you want a friend, I can be that for you. Is that ok?"
That was not what Debbie hoped to hear. But she understood since Sure-Shot was right. She lowered her head, then said, "I'm such a fool to think that someone like you could actually like me."
"You're wrong!" Sure-Shot said.
Debbie lifted her head back to Sure-Shot and waited for her to continue.
"You are a very beautiful girl Debbie and once you gain some confidence, the toms are going to flock to you. Now, as far as you being attracted to females, be open with your feelings and who knows," Sure-Shot said.
"Thanks, may I kiss you again?" Debbie asked.
"I don't think that is a good idea Debbie," Sure-Shot said. She looked down at the disappointed teenager, then said, "How about a hug instead?"
"I can deal with that," Debbie said as she hugged Sure-Shot tightly.
She returned her embrace and whispered into her ear, "I think one of your friends is a little jealous of me embracing you. Take a look at the she-cat in the green mini-skirt. I think she wants to kill me."
Debbie turned her head to look at her best friend, Jennifer and noticed her eyes shooting daggers at Sure-Shot. Debbie said, "Thank you, friend." And went over to confront Jennifer. She nervously asked, "Jenn, are you alright?"
"No, I'm not alright Deb! I have been in love with you for over a year and when you started dating Peter, it tore me apart every time he told you that you were not good enough! Debbie, you are so much better than him and he doesn't deserve your affection and now, you go and hit on a SWAT Kat!," Jennifer spat then pulled Debbie to her and as she stroked her hair, she said, "I love you Debbie, can we give it a try?"
"I had no idea Jennifer that you felt that way," Debbie said before she embraced her friend and said, "I think I would like that." She then kissed Jennifer.
Sure-Shot got back on the Cyclotron and said to Rachel, "Don't let this Peter walk all over her anymore and please give her this." She pulled out a small piece of paper with her phone number for her communicator from the pocket in her uniform and handed it to Rachel. Then she asked, "Where is that playground again?"
"Its down that road Sure-Shot," Rachel replied.
Sure-Shot mounted her Cyclotron again, turned to look at Debbie one more time who was in a tight embrace with Jennifer, then said, "Take care." She took of towards the playground.
Sure-Shot rounded the corner and saw her brother and Stacy, watching Roger playing on a long yellow plastic slide. She pulled up to the playground and dismounted her Cyclotron.
Sure-Shot walked up to the slide just as Roger was coming down it, and asked, "Would you like to play with a SWAT Kat for the rest of the afternoon Roger?"
Roger went over to her and looked into her mask covered eyes. He then said, "The SWAT Kats are cool!"
Sure-Shot laughed for a second then said, "Yes we are Roger, want to go on the slide again?"
"Yes!" Roger said as he ran around the back of the slide and started climbing the ladder.
Rolf also noticed a SWAT Kat walking over to Roger, both he and Stacy went over to her and he asked, "Can I help you miss?"
Sure-Shot turned her head to face her brother and noticed the very concerned look on his face. She then said in a deeper voice as not to tip off her brother, "I heard that a cute kitten friend of a hero was going to be in the park today, I came by to play with him."
Rolf looked over the she-cat in front of him and turned to Stacy. He said, "I'll be right back Stacy." He took Sure-Shot by her left arm and pulled her aside.
After they were a decent distance away from Stacy and Roger, he stopped, brought Sure-Shot around to face him, and asked, "Alright Marissa, what is going on and why are you dressed like this?"
"I'm not Marissa, my name is Sure-Sho.." she started to answer but Rolf interrupted her and said, "Right, I know those birthmarks on your tail anywhere sister!"
"Rolf, I was recruited by SWAT to replace Caliber since she is pregnant with Razor's kitten. I only wanted to give Roger a day of play with a SWAT Kat and nothing more," she said.
"Marissa, I'm torn about this. Being a member of SWAT puts not only you but me and now Stacy and Roger at risk. I'm glad Caliber thinks enough of you to let you take her place but I need to think of how to protect the she-cat I have fallen for and her kitten," Rolf said.
"You love Stacy Rolf?" She asked.
Rolf looked back to Stacy who was playing with Roger in the sandbox, then back to Sure-Shot before he answered, "Yes, I'm in love with Stacy sis. I never expected to fall for her so quickly but she makes it so easy to love and care for her and Roger is such a good kitten as well. He actually wants to call me daddy and I'm perfectly fine with it."
"Rolf, I think I have a solution for your problem," Sure-Shot said.
Rolf lifted his right eyebrow, then asked, "What is it?"
"You want to keep Stacy and Roger safe? There is no better way of keeping them safe than to have you be a member of the team. You'll fit in quite well and who knows? Razor and T-Bone might partner you up with me. We'll be brother and sister vigilantes, taking on the worst this city can throw at us," Sure-Shot answered.
"And what about Stacy and Roger?" He asked. "I wouldn't feel right knowing they are left alone when I'm out protecting the city, not that I'm agreeing with your hair-brained idea sis."
"Razor owns one of the most highly acclaimed Military and Security companies in the world, he can have Stacy's place wired with some of the best stuff on the planet. Besides, I've seen how well Stacy can handle a gun, who would be stupid enough to break into her house when she is home?" Sure-Shot asked.
"No one that I know, what's your code name again?" Rolf asked.
"Sure-Shot dear brother, can we go and play with Roger now?"
"Yes we can play with Roger, Sure-Shot," Rolf said as he picked up his sister in his arms and carried her back to Roger as he thought, 'How am I going to explain all of this to Stacy without her blowing up?'
