75 Years Chapter 11
The 11th Hunger Games
Author's Note: I do not own The Hunger Games
Following on from the 10th Hunger Games, further developments to the Games soon came into play. First, starting from the 11th Hunger Games, Victors must start mentoring future Tributes. Second, the Victor of future Hunger Games will live in an area of their District known as the "Victors' Village". Twelve houses will be constructed per District for Victors to reside in. Finally, six months after the conclusion of that year's Hunger Games, the Victor will go on a tour around the Districts and the Capitol, with the tour's final stop being the Victor's home District. Also supplies of food and water will be included in a weapons pile.
The Arena:
The Arena was slightly larger than the City Arena, and it was a lagoon on a tropical island. Various edible nuts, seeds and berries grew in several areas, while on the beach, several coconut trees grew. Pieces of wood and rope lay scattered on the beach, while the water contained stingray muttations.
The Tributes:
District 1: Nova Trump (17), Chardonnay Emerson (18)
District 2: Ajax Hutcherson (18), Diantha Hood (18)
District 3: Callum Lampard (17), Fifi Soucek (16)
District 4: Dylan Colwill (17), Mags Flanagan (16)
District 5: Gus Davis (15), Clara Scarpa (13)
District 6: Kylian Armstrong (17), Avatrix Surridge (13)
District 7: Oliver Matthews (16), Mollie Watkins (18)
District 8: Thimble Ball (15), Shardai Radcliffe (16)
District 9: Richard Waddlingham (16), Michelle Osment (17)
District 10: Miguel Keena (14), Bella Bradshaw (14)
District 11: Durian Obafemi (13), Sakura Mehmi (13)
District 12: Graph Giedoric (16), Rose Lineker (16)
The Games:
The 24 Tributes stood in a circle around the Cornucopia which was situated on a smaller island in the lagoon. As the gong sounded to mark the start of the games the Districts 1 and 2 Tributes ran to the Cornucopia while Dylan and Mags went towards thee treeline. It was Chardonnay Emerson that got the first kill, as she speared a small girl with a backpack
24th: Clara Scarpa, District 5. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Chardonnay. Bloodbath
A small boy from District 11 tripped as he fled with a backpack. Ajax, armed with a short sword, gutted the boy
23rd: Durian Obafemi, District 11. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Ajax. Bloodbath
The third kill was made by Oliver Matthews, who armed with an axe, swiftly hacked a boy from District 1 to death, his allies too busy fighting with the other Tributes to help him.
22nd: Nova Trump, District 1. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Oliver. Bloodbath.
Diantha thrust a knife through the chest of a tall boy
21st: Callum Lampard, District 3. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Diantha. Bloodbath.
Ajax stabbed a small girl to death as she attempted to flee
20th: Avatrix Surridge, District 6. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Ajax. Bloodbath
A frightened boy from District 8 would shortly after meet the same fate when Diantha slitted his throat
19th: Thimble Ball, District 8. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Diantha. Bloodbath.
The final kill of the Bloodbath was made by Chardonnay, who noticed the body of her District Partner. Armed with a spear, she speared the lumberjack from District 7 as he was about to leave the carnage
18th: Oliver Matthews, District 7. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Chardonnay. Bloodbath
By the end of the Bloodbath of the 11th Hunger Games, the lagoon was stained red with the blood of the seven Tributes who perished, as Chardonnay, Ajax and Diantha bathed in the lagoon. The image of the three powerful Tributes swimming and laughing in the water surrounded by the bodies of the dead would be remembered in the decades to come when people talked about the 11th Hunger Games. It was fitting that the name of the first day of the Games would be known as "The Bloodbath". Meanwhile, the remaining Tributes had scattered across the Arena.
Day 2 of the 11th Hunger Games dawned with the sound of a Cannon fire. A slight girl from District 12 found herself on the end of Chardonnay's sword
17th: Rose Lineker, District 12. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Chardonnay. Day 2.
Satisfied with the kill, Chardonnay then spotted a girl in a tree. Calling the District 2 Tributes, Diantha fired an arrow at the girl, striking her in the throat. The girl fell, landing on the ground like a ragdoll, ending District 7's hopes of winning.
16th: Mollie Watkins, District 7. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Diantha. Day 2.
At this time Mags and Dylan found a grotto filled with plants. On the plants grew various berries and nuts, which the District 4 Tributes turned into their camp. By the island, Chardonnay ambushed a frightened boy from District 9, and within seconds, threw her knife into the boy's gut.
15th: Richard Waddlingham, District 9. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Chardonnay. Day 2.
The rest of Day 2 passed by without incident. Days 3 and 4 passed by deathless, however, on Day 5 the Pack of the Districts 1 and 2 Tributes spotted a girl from District 3 and ran towards her. The girl, in a fit of panic, sprinted towards the water and ran in. Unfortunately, a wave crashed into her as she ran, taking her into the ocean below.
14th: Fifi Soucek, District 3. 11th Hunger Games. Drowning. Day 5
Fifi was the only Tribute to die on Day 5. On Day 6, growing frustrated by the lack of action, Gamemaker Coriolanus Snow pressed a button, which resulted in parts of the Arena being flooded, forming several islands. Mags and Dylan moved further up the grotto as the lower levels was filled with saltwater. In the process, the stingray mutts, which had been relatively quiet, started to attack the Tributes unlucky to be stranded, with a boy from District 5 and a girl from District 8 falling victim to their stings.
13th: Gus Davis, District 5. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Stingray Mutts. Day 6
12th: Shardai Radcliffe, District 8. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Stingray Mutts. Day 6
By this point in the Games, only Districts 2, 4 and 10 had both their Tributes alive. Districts 1, 6, 9, 11 and 12 had only one Tribute left, while Districts 3, 5, 7 and 8 had lost both their Tributes. For Miguel Keena and Bella Bradshaw, the island they were stranded on have provided temporary security from the Districts 1 and 2 Alliance. It didn't provide security against the waves that struck on Day 7, drowning both Tributes
11th: Bella Bradshaw, District 10. 11th Hunger Games. Drowned. Day 7
10th: Miguel Keena, District 10. 11th Hunger Games. Drowned. Day 7
In the Capitol, there was excitement over the possibility of the 11th Hunger Games surpassing the Fourth Hunger Games as the longest Games up to that point. Even the remaining Tributes themselves knew that their Games could end up becoming the longest to date. With nine Tributes left alive in comparison to the Fourth, which, by Day 8, had five Tributes left, only for four of the Tributes to be dead within a sixty-five minute period that day, any one of the nine could return home to their District. Sponsorship prices increased on Day 8, starting a new tradition of Sponsorship Price Increases whenever the Games have surpassed a previous Games. This would continue until the 74th Hunger Games, where the last price increase came on Day 17. Of course, Day 8 had only one death, when Kylian Armstrong of District 6 slipped into the water below as he fled the Districts 1 and 2 Alliance.
9th: Kylian Armstrong, District 6. 11th Hunger Games. Drowned. Day 8
On Day 9, the confirmation that the 11th Hunger Games has surpassed the Fourth Hunger Games was announced by Coriolanus Snow to Dr. Gaul before telling her that there are now eight Tributes left alive. Chardonnay Emerson of District 1, Ajax Hutcherson and Diantha Hood of District 2, Dylan Colwill and Mags Flanagan of District 4, Michelle Osment of District 9, Sakura Mehmi of District 11 and Graph Giedoric of District 12 were the Final Eight Tributes. Graph in particular was amazed at the fact he made it just a year after his own District's victory in the Hunger Games. No Interviews were conducted however, but Lucky Flickerman received a note to start planning Interviews for the "Final Eight" starting from the 12th Hunger Games. It was a good thing he held off the Interviews with the families of the "Final Eight" Tributes, as Chardonnay Emerson spotted Michelle Osment, and within seconds, pushed her head first into the sea, causing the District 9 girl to drown and remove the District from the running.
8th: Michelle Osment, District 9. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Chardonnay. Day 9
Of course, Dylan Colwill witnessed Chardonnay kill Michelle, and grabbing a makeshift fish hook made by Mags which was tied to the end of a rope the pair found on Day 2, hurled it at Chardonnay; the fish hook speared her in the head and putting District 1 out of the Games.
7th: Chardonnay Emerson, District 1. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Dylan. Day 9.
A hour later, growing concerned when Chardonnay failed to turn up, Diantha decided to search for her ally. Heading to the beach near the grotto, Diantha found Chardonnay's corpse on the sand. She failed to spot a fish hook head towards her. The hook impaled Diantha in the chest, and the District 2 girl collapsed beside Chardonnay.
6th: Diantha Hood, District 2. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Dylan. Day 9.
On Day 10, concerned about whoever was killing Chardonnay and Diantha, Ajax went to hunt for whoever killed his allies. Spotting a small girl in a palm tree, he speared her. Sakura gasped as the javelin inserted itself into her back, and she plunged to the ground, limp.
5th: Sakura Mehmi, District 11. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Ajax. Day 10
Sakura would be the only death of Day 10. Meanwhile, Mags and Dylan had a gate crasher in Graph, who had managed to enter the cavern the two were in via a hidden passage. The three decided to form a temporary alliance. On Day 11, Graph woke the District 4 Tributes, warning them that the cave was going to collapse. The three of them managed to get out in time, only to run onto the beach. Ajax, grasping another javelin, threw it. The javelin impaled Dylan, and the District 4 male crumpled onto the sand.
4th: Dylan Colwill, District 4. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Ajax. Day 11.
Glaring at the two remaining Tributes, Ajax grasped his javelin tighter, and pointing towards Graph, he muttered "Seam kid, prepare to meet your fate like the others". Stretching his arm out, Ajax hurled the javelin towards Graph. On television in District 12, the scene was too familiar. The memory of how their own male Tribute died in the now abandoned City Arena seven years earlier was still fresh. A woman in the District, Martha Hennessey, looked away from the screen; she knew how her youngest twin brother was killed at the hands of a District 2 Tribute. Her husband, sitting beside her, screamed in shock as his nephew fell onto the sand, a javelin to the chest. For Martha, it was a sense of deja-vu. In the Arena, Mags was shaking in fear at what she had witnessed.
3rd: Graph Giedoric, District 12. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by Ajax. Day 11.
Pushing her fear aside, Mags stared at Ajax. In the corner of her eyes, she saw the stingray mutts near the shore. Ajax was powerful, and if she isn't careful she could find herself at the end of Ajax's spear. But I can swim, and that is District 4's strength. Calling out to Ajax, Mags took off towards the water and entered. "Try and catch me" she yelled, swimming even further away from the shore. Ajax dived in after her, but the District 2 soon found himself struggling, which caught the attention of the stingray mutts. A few barbed stings later, and the District 2 male was lying on the shore. Cautiously, Mags swam back to the shore. As she walked on the shore, she heard the Cannon go off.
2nd: Ajax Hutcherson, District 2. 11th Hunger Games. Killed by stingray mutts. Day 11
1st: Mags Flanagan, District 4. 11th Hunger Games. VICTOR.
Mags turned to her fallen allies, whispering goodbye, as the Hovercraft carried her to her new life as a Victor.
Aftermath:
Mags would become the last surviving Victor from the early Hunger Games, living until the Third Quarter Quell. She would go on to mentor many Tributes up until the 74th Hunger Games, bringing home four Victors: Ariel, Moana, Ron and Finnick, the second most of any Victors, and a joint record with Huyen Le Duc of District 3, who also brought home four Victors; ironically, both Mags and Huyen would become joint-mentor to a future Victor. In another parallel between Mags and Huyen, both Tributes they mentored would take the place of another mentor to a further victory in the final decade of the Hunger Games. Only Molly Frost of District 1 would have a better Mentorship rate of any Victor, bringing home at least seven Victors. Mags would also become the first Victor to go on a Victory Tour, the first Victor to live in the Victor's Village and the first Victor to mentor.
This year would see the birth of Taliesin Georges, who would go on to make history in the 28th Hunger Games, in District 10.
As of the 11th Hunger Games, only Districts 5 and 7 haven't got a Victor
Victors:
1st: Edgar Parlour (District 1)
2nd: Virgil Barde (District 8)
3rd: Ginny Canova (District 11)
4th: Horsa Georges (District 10)
5th: Mmseyone Musk (District 3)
6th: Paris Curl (District 2)
7th: Chive Carmichael (District 9)
8th: Samson Wilson (District 6)
9th: Hestia Curl (District 2)- First District to have more than one Victor
10th: Lucy Grey Baird (District 12)
11th: Mags Flanagan (District 4)
So that's Mags' Games. Huyen will be important later on, and there is some futureshadowing to the 68th and 70th Hunger Games. Yes, Graph's death is a call-back to Harold's death. In my Headcanon, despite being a Career District, District 4 is seen as the "Weakest Career District", however, it's because the Gamemakers have a habit of designing non-aquatic Arenas more than aquatic Arenas. The next Games will be the 12th Hunger Games, one of the few times in which no 12-year-olds were Reaped. Out of the early Victors, here's a list of their current Status as of the end of the 11th Hunger Games:
1st: Edgar Parlour (District 1). Father to a three-year-old girl, Treasure
2nd: Virgil Barde (District 8). Father to an one-year-old son, Tarpaulin
3rd: Ginny Canova (District 11). Mother to a newborn girl, Fern
4th: Horsa Georges (District 10). Father to a newborn son, Taliesin
5th: Mmseyone Musk (District 3). Expecting
6th: Paris Curl (District 2). Wife is expecting. Teacher at the District 2 Academy
7th: Chive Carmichael (District 9). Engaged
8th: Samson Wilson (District 6). Engaged
9th: Hestia Curl (District 2). Teacher at the District 2 Academy. Makes regular visits to the grave of Therin Lee, her District Partner
10th: Lucy Grey Baird (District 12). Fate uncertain, disappeared soon after Sejanus Plinth's execution
11th: Mags Flanagan (District 4). Currently living in Victors' Village, will Mentor District 4 Tributes from next year
It's going to be interesting to see how the following Games will play out now that Mags is Mentoring. Will District 4 win next year, or will there be a twist?
With this Chapter, I have reached the same point the story is at on dA and AO3. I will be working on the rest of the decade.
