The next day, Mike and Angela fluttered their eyes open, awakening from their slumber. Mike hadn't taken his hand off his fiancée's belly since last night. He smiled as he felt her soft skin under his palm, a comforting reminder of their close bond.

"Morning, beautiful," he whispered, planting a gentle kiss on her cheek.

Angela smiled sleepily, her eyes reflecting the warmth of his touch. "Morning, baby. Sleep well?"

"Best sleep ever," Mike replied. "I could stay like this forever."

Angela giggled softly. "Me too. You and your belly rubs. They really are magic."

Mike chuckled, giving her belly a playful squeeze. "Only for you."

They lay there for a few more moments, enjoying the quiet intimacy of the morning, before deciding it was time to get up and face the day.

"Let's go and hit the showers," Mike suggested, reluctantly moving his hand from Angela's belly. "We weren't able to change out of our swimsuits the first day."

Angela nodded, stretching and yawning. "Yeah, a good shower sounds perfect right now."

They both got up from the bed, feeling the cool morning air on their skin. Mike grabbed some fresh towels while Angela picked out clean clothes for both of them. They fully undressed and stepped into the spacious walk-in shower, the warm water cascading over them.

"Feels amazing," Angela sighed, closing her eyes and letting the water soak her hair.

"Yeah, it does," Mike agreed, reaching for the shampoo. He lathered it into her hair, his fingers massaging her scalp in a soothing rhythm. Angela leaned into his touch, enjoying the feeling of his hands working through her hair.

"You're really good at this," she murmured.

"Glad you think so," Mike replied with a grin. He finished with her hair and then turned his attention to his own, quickly washing up before they both moved on to the rest of their routine. The shower was filled with shared laughter and the soft murmur of their voices, a moment of normalcy amidst their exciting trip.

Once they were clean and refreshed, they stepped out of the shower and dried off. Angela slipped into a comfortable sundress while Mike opted for a casual t-shirt and shorts. They both felt rejuvenated, ready to take on the day's adventures.

"Ready for breakfast?" Mike asked, wrapping an arm around her waist as they headed out of the bathroom.

"Absolutely. Let's see what everyone else is up to," Angela replied, smiling up at him. They walked out to join the rest of the group, eager to share the day's plans and enjoy their final moments in Florida.

Downstairs, they only found Gypsy and Manny already seated at a table, enjoying a light breakfast.

"Morning, you two," Mike greeted as he and Angela approached.

"Morning!" Gypsy greeted, waving. "Sleep well?"

"Yeah, we did," Angela replied with a smile. "Where is everyone?"

"David and Lily are still asleep," Gypsy answered, taking a sip of her orange juice. "They must have needed the extra rest."

Manny nodded in agreement, chewing on a piece of toast. "Seems like they had a pretty long day yesterday. But Rosie, Dim, and Francis are already out and about, probably getting ready for the day."

Angela took a seat next to Gypsy, and Mike settled down beside Manny. "Well, we'll make sure to catch up with them soon," Mike said as he grabbed a plate and served himself some fruit and yogurt.

Gypsy looked over at Angela with curiosity. "So, do you two have any special plans for today before we leave?"

Angela smiled and shrugged. "We were thinking of grabbing a final stroll around the area and maybe hitting up a local café for some last-minute treats. Just enjoying our last morning here before heading out."

"Sounds like a great plan," Manny said, nodding approvingly. "It's always nice to end a trip on a relaxed note."

As they continued their breakfast, the room filled with the comfortable hum of conversation. Mike and Angela chatted about their plans for the day while Gypsy and Manny shared their favorite moments from the trip. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, a perfect way to wrap up their time in Florida.

Meanwhile, David woke up with a quiet sigh, his hand still resting gently on Lily's belly. The early morning light filtered softly through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the room. He shifted slightly, careful not to wake her, and took a moment to enjoy the peaceful serenity of the morning.

Lily stirred beside him, her eyes fluttering open. She smiled sleepily at David, reaching out to gently caress his cheek. "Morning, baby," she murmured, her voice still thick with sleep.

"Morning," David replied, his voice soft and affectionate. He leaned in to kiss her forehead. "Did you sleep well?"

"Very well," Lily said, stretching slightly and snuggling closer to him. "You?"

"Yeah, it was a good night," David said. "But we should probably get up soon. The others are probably already up and about."

Lily nodded, sitting up and giving David a loving smile. "Let's get ready then. A shower sounds nice."

They both got out of bed, the morning chill making them shiver slightly as they moved around the room. David turned on the bathroom light and adjusted the shower's temperature to a comfortable warm setting. They took turns stepping into the shower, first Lily, who enjoyed the warm water cascading over her,
followed by David.

As the steam began to fill the room, they washed away the remnants of sleep and enjoyed a few moments of quiet together, sharing soft conversation and laughter as they prepped for the day ahead.

"Mmm... That feels good," Lily sighed, enjoying the soft soapy stroking from David.

David smiled, his hands gently massaging the lathered soap over her body. "I'm glad you're enjoying it," he said softly. "I always like making you feel good."

Lily leaned into his touch, her eyes closing in contentment. "It's the perfect way to start the day. Especially with how relaxed we are."

David moved his hands in slow, soothing circles, his fingers skillfully working the soap into a rich lather. "I'm glad you think so. It's nice to have these moments together before everything gets busy."

Lily turned to face him, her smile radiant in the soft light. "Agreed. And I'm looking forward to what today has in store for us."

They both enjoyed the calming warmth of the shower, taking their time to get ready for the day. After a few more minutes of relaxation, they finished up their shower, stepping out and toweling off before dressing for the day ahead.

After a few minutes, they finished up their shower, stepping out and toweling off. David handed Lily a soft towel, his eyes filled with warmth as he watched her dry off.

"Thanks, David," Lily said, wrapping the towel around herself.

David nodded with a smile. "You're welcome, Lily."

They dressed quickly, enjoying the lingering warmth from the shower. Lily slipped into her usual crop tank and skirt while David opted for a casual t-shirt and shorts. They exchanged a quick kiss before heading downstairs to join the others for breakfast.

Downstairs, they found Mike, Angela, Gypsy, and Manny already seated at the table, enjoying their meals. The scent of freshly brewed coffee and pancakes filled the air, creating a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.

"Morning, everyone," David greeted as he and Lily took their seats.

"Morning!" Manny greeted, his antennae twitching with excitement. "Sleep well?"

"Very well, thanks," Lily replied with a smile. "How about you guys?"

"Same here," Mike said, pouring himself a cup of coffee. "Ready for another day of adventure?"

"Absolutely," David said, glancing around at the happy, relaxed faces of their friends. "Let's make the most of it."

As they all settled into their breakfast, the conversation flowed easily, filled with laughter and plans for the day. The warm morning sun streamed through the windows, promising a day full of fun and new memories.

Just then, Rosie came down with Dim and Emily.

"Hi, Mommy! Hi, Daddy!" the 3-year-old said excitedly, her little face lighting up with joy.

"Hey, baby!" Lily replied, her face beaming as she reached out to scoop Emily into her arms.

David smiled at the sight of his daughter, reaching out to give her a gentle hug. "Morning, Emily. Did you sleep well?"

Emily nodded vigorously. "Uh-huh! I had a dream about the beach!"

"That sounds like a fun dream," David said, chuckling. He then looked at Rosie and Dim. "Morning, you two. Ready for our last day here?"

"We're ready for whatever the day brings." the black widow replied

Dim nodded in agreement, his large eyes blinking slowly. "Yes, ready!"

"Well, let's make the most of it," David said, his voice filled with warmth. "We've got a lot to see before we head to Washington."

Lily put Emily down, and they all joined the others at the table for breakfast. The room buzzed with chatter and laughter as they planned their final day in Florida.

"While we wait for Heimlich, Francis, and Slim, we're going to grab Tuck and Roll and then fetch our bags," Mike said as he and Angela headed back upstairs.

As Mike and Angela ascended the stairs, they found Tuck and Roll waiting by the door, clearly eager to join the group. Mike scooped up the two circus bugs, gently placing them on his shoulders.

Angela scanned the key to their own room and grabbed their bags from the corner, ensuring they were all packed and ready. She smiled at Mike as they made their way back down.

When they reached the lobby, the rest of the group had gathered, with Heimlich, Francis, and Slim finally arriving. Everyone's bags were packed, and the excitement of departure was palpable.

"Looks like we're all set," Mike announced, giving a thumbs-up. "Time to head to the next destination."

As they all loaded up into their vehicles, the anticipation of exploring Washington, and the promise of new adventures ahead energized them.

"First, we should probably get the Ram and Suburban refueled and washed before we return them and catch our flight," Rosie suggested.

"But how are we supposed to get to the airport without them?" Gypsy asked, a hint of concern in her voice.

"Do they have any cabs here?" Manny added, looking around.

"Yeah, they have cabs and rideshare services," David replied. "We can book a ride to the airport once we drop off the vehicles."

"Good plan," Mike agreed. "Let's get moving so we have plenty of time."

They drove to the nearest gas station, refueled both the Ram and the Suburban, and then headed to a car wash. The bugs stayed safely inside, watching with fascination as the cars went through the automated wash.

Once the vehicles were clean and ready, they drove to the rental return area. Mike quickly booked a rideshare service on his phone to pick them up from the rental location and take them to the airport.

"Alright, ride's on its way," Mike announced, checking the app. "We should be at the airport with plenty of time to spare."

As they waited, the group chatted about their favorite moments from the trip, excitement growing for their next adventure in Washington, D.C.

When the rideshare arrived, they piled in, securing the bugs safely in the middle of the group. The drive to the airport was filled with laughter and stories, the anticipation of new experiences mingling with the bittersweet farewell to Orlando.

At the airport, they smoothly checked in their bags and made their way through security. As they waited at the gate, Emily bounced excitedly on Lily's lap.

"I can't wait to see Washington!" Emily exclaimed.

"Me too, sweetie," Lily replied with a smile. "It's going to be another fun adventure."

As their flight was called for boarding, the group gathered their things and made their way to the plane, ready for the next chapter of their journey.

"So, Mike, is there anything else we need to know about NBC?" Francis asked, curiosity evident in his tone.

"Well, there's the sister network Telemundo," Mike began. "They focus on Spanish-language content, so if you're into learning new languages or just enjoy different kinds of shows, it's pretty interesting."

"Telemundo?" Gypsy asked, her antennae perking up with interest. "That sounds fascinating. Do they do news and everything too?"

"Yeah, they do news, telenovelas, sports, and a bunch of other programs," Mike explained. "It's pretty popular among Spanish-speaking audiences in the US and beyond."

Angela chimed in, "And you guys have probably seen NBC's iconic logo, the peacock. Every April, during Earth Week, they change the peacock logo to green."

"Really?" Slim asked, his curiosity piqued. "Why do they do that?

Angela continued, "It's part of their 'Green Is Universal' initiative. They use the green logo to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. Then, in November, they do something similar with 'Green Week,' focusing on eco-friendly practices and encouraging people to think about their impact on the planet."

"That's pretty cool," Manny said, clearly impressed. "It's great to see a major network taking steps to promote environmental responsibility."

"Absolutely," Mike agreed. "It's just one of the ways they're trying to make a positive difference. And it's a neat part of what we'll get to see when we visit the Washington Bureau."

As the plane later landed at DCA (Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport), the group disembarked, excited for the next leg of their journey. The airport buzzed with activity, and the air was filled with the hum of travelers and the occasional announcement over the PA system.

Mike and Angela led the way, carrying their carry-on bags and checking their phones for updates. David and Lily followed closely behind, with Lily occasionally glancing at Emily, who was happily clutching a small stuffed toy.

Gypsy and Manny, along with the other circus bugs, moved through the airport with a mix of wonder and curiosity, taking in the new sights and sounds of the city.

"Alright, everyone, let's grab our bags and get to the hotel," Mike said, glancing around for the baggage claim area.

"And don't forget, we need to pick up the rental cars first," Rosie reminded them as they navigated through the terminal.

"Right," Mike confirmed. "Once we have the cars, we can head over to the hotel and get settled in."

As they made their way to the baggage claim, the group chatted excitedly about their plans for the day. The anticipation of exploring Washington, and visiting the NBC Washington Bureau added to their sense of adventure.

With their bags finally collected and the rental cars arranged, the group first took a bus to the Holiday Inn to check in and freshen up. The hotel lobby was bustling with guests, and the group quickly approached the front desk to get their room keys.

"Alright, everyone, let's get our rooms sorted and meet back here in an hour," Mike instructed as he handed out the keys.

"Sounds like a plan," David agreed, taking his key and giving a quick nod to Lily.

They all headed to their respective rooms, eager to freshen up after the flight. Angela and Mike entered their room and set their bags down, taking a moment to look out the window at the view of the city.

"Not a bad view," Angela remarked, smiling as she saw the Washington Monument in the distance.

"Definitely," Mike agreed, placing his hand on her back. "Let's freshen up and get ready to explore."

In the neighboring room, David and Lily were helping Emily settle in before she went to stay with Rosie and Dim. David took a moment to sit on the bed, running a hand through his hair as he looked around.

"Feels good to be here," he said, glancing at Lily, who nodded and set Emily's toy on the nightstand.

"It does. I'm excited to see everything."

Meanwhile, Gypsy and Manny, along with the other circus bugs, were exploring their room with a mix of curiosity and excitement. Gypsy fluttered around, checking out the amenities, while Manny inspected the view from the window.

"Quite a change from the circus," Manny commented, chuckling.

"Definitely," Gypsy agreed. "I can't wait to see more of the city."

After an hour, everyone reconvened in the hotel lobby, looking refreshed and ready for the day ahead. Rosie and Dim had Emily in tow, the little girl holding onto her toy tightly.

"Alright, where to first?" Francis asked, stretching his arms.

"Me and Angela are gonna take a cab to Hendrick Auto. Rented a 2001 Excursion there," Mike replied.

"Same with D.C. Auto. 2009 Challenger R/T," David added.

"I may as well join Mike," Gypsy chimed in. "I want to see what it's like."

"Count me in as well if you're going," Manny replied.

"I'll stay with Dim and Emily," Rosie added, giving a reassuring smile.

"Guess this means we're going with David," Heimlich said to Francis and Slim. "I can't wait to see this Challenger."

"Sounds good to me," Slim nodded. "Let's get going then."

The group split into their respective cabs, eager to pick up their rentals and start exploring the city.

Mike, Angela, Gypsy, and Manny arrived at Hendrick Automotive Group first. The dealership was bustling with activity, and a shiny 2001 Excursion was waiting for them.

"David never told me and Manny the Excursion was a Ford SUV," Gypsy remarked, looking at the large vehicle. "He only mentioned the Edge, Expedition, Explorer, and Escape."

Mike chuckled. "Yeah, the Excursion is one of the biggest ones Ford ever made. It's practically a tank on wheels. You'll see why we chose it once we hit the road."

Angela nodded in agreement. "It's perfect for carrying all our luggage and giving us plenty of room to stretch out. Plus, it's got that classic, sturdy look."

Manny looked impressed. "I can see why you'd want something this big for a road trip. It looks like it can handle anything."

As they finished admiring the Excursion, an employee approached them with the key fob and some paperwork. "Ready to take it for a spin?" the employee asked with a friendly smile.

"I assume it's gonna have the same seat belt chime tone as the 2003 Mustang?" Manny asked.

Gypsy glanced at Mike and Angela from the middle row of the SUV as they drove towards the hotel. "So, what have people been saying after they saw you on Jerry Springer?"

Angela sighed thoughtfully. "Well, some folks have been calling us the definition of true friendship. It's nice to hear that people appreciate the bond we share."

"And what about the others?" Gypsy asked.

"Others have been pretty vocal against the so-called queen, Princess Atta, and the Colony Council. Honestly, I don't think they deserve those titles anymore," Angela said with a hint of frustration and hate. "And many have been critical of the ants who made life difficult for Flik and us."

Mike nodded in agreement. "Yeah, and a lot of messages have been condolences. People are hoping and praying to God that we reunite with our friend. It's touching to see so much support, even if the circumstances are tough."

Gypsy smiled warmly at Angela and Mike from the middle row. "It's really good to see you dears pushing through your struggles."

Angela nodded appreciatively. "Thanks, Gypsy. If it weren't for you and the others letting us move into your circus, we'd probably be nothing but hateful ticking time-bombs, still stuck on Ant Island."

Manny, who had been listening intently, chimed in with a curious look. "Did anybody say anything about bugs being on a show? Or at least about me and my wife being guest security?"

Angela chuckled lightly. "Actually, yes. Some people were fascinated by the idea of bugs being involved in a trashy TV show. They thought it was a unique and entertaining twist."

Mike added with a grin, "And others seemed impressed by the concept of having real security bugs. Apparently, it added a bit of charm and authenticity to the show."

Gypsy nodded enthusiastically. "It's amazing how something as unexpected as bugs in security roles can capture people's imaginations."

Meanwhile, at D.C. Auto Sales, David, Lily, Heimlich, Francis, and Slim were inspecting their 2009 Challenger R/T. The dealership was less crowded than Hendrick Automotive Group, providing a more relaxed environment.

"I can see the emblem, but there's no cross on there," Francis noted, examining the front of the 2009 Challenger.

David glanced over and nodded. "Yeah, it's just the standard Dodge logo on the hood above the grille. The cross is usually reserved for higher trims or special editions."

Lily ran her fingers over the sleek surface of the car, smiling. "It's still a beauty. I love the design."

Heimlich, looking at the interior, commented, "I've heard the seats in this model are really comfortable. Hope they live up to the hype."

Slim, peering into the trunk, added, "Looks spacious enough for all our gear. We should have plenty of room."

David chuckled, "Absolutely. This car's going to be great for our trip around D.C. We might even get some compliments on it."

Francis gave a thumbs-up. "Sounds like it's going to be a smooth ride. Let's get this baby on the road and catch up with the others."

With that, they finished their inspection, ready to enjoy their time in the Challenger.

"So why do they call this R/T, anyway?" Francis asked.

"R/T stands for Road/Track," David explained as he smoothly shifted gears. "It's Dodge's performance package. Basically means this car is built for both street driving and track racing."

"Ah, I see," Francis nodded. "So it's not just for show, then?"

"Exactly," David replied. "It's got the muscle to back up its looks."

Heimlich leaned forward, looking excited. "I can feel the power already!"

"This is going to be an interesting ride. Let's just hope we don't attract too much attention." Slim added.

David chuckled. "Don't worry, we'll keep it within the speed limit. Most of the time."

"Seat belt chime tone sounds the same as Mike's 2006 Grand Caravan," Slim remarked, recognizing the familiar sound as David fastened his belt.

"Yeah, Dodge has been pretty consistent with that," Lily replied with a grin.

As they drove back towards the hotel, they chatted about their plans for the day.

"So, what's on the agenda once we're back?" Francis asked, his excitement palpable.

"First, we'll meet up with the others and then maybe explore a bit," David said. "There's a lot to see in D.C., and I'm sure everyone has something they want to do."

"And don't forget about lunch," Heimlich added eagerly. "I'm getting hungry already."

"Typical Heimlich," Lily said, laughing. "Always thinking about food."

They all laughed, the atmosphere light and filled with anticipation for the day ahead.

Back at the hotel, Mike scanned the key to Tuck and Roll's room. The pillbugs buzzed with excitement as they rolled out of their room, their chatter filling the air.

"Looks like they're ready to join the fun," Mike commented with a smile as he opened the door for them.

Tuck and Roll zipped around playfully, their movements full of energy. "Alright, let's get everyone together and plan out our day!" Angela said, gathering the group for the next adventure.

"So how was it?" Rosie asked, curious about their experience at the dealership.

Mike smiled, "Pretty smooth. We got the Excursion without any issues. Gypsy and Manny seemed impressed with the whole process."

"Yeah, the SUV's in great condition," Gypsy added. "And it was interesting to see how the whole rental thing works."

"I'm just glad we have a reliable vehicle for our time here," Manny said, nodding in agreement.

"How about you guys?" Angela asked David and Lily. "How was your experience at D.C. Auto?"

"It was good," David replied. "The Challenger is awesome, and the dealership was pretty laid-back. We're all set for our trips around D.C."

"Sounds like we're ready for a great time here," Rosie said with a smile. "So, what's the plan for today?"

"How about starting with a visit to the National Mall?" Mike suggested. "We can see the monuments and maybe hit a museum or two."

"Sounds perfect," Angela agreed. "Let's get going!"

With everyone ready, they began preparing for their exploration of Washington. Emily was securely seated in her car seat in the middle of the backseat of the Challenger, with Slim and Francis on either side of her, ensuring she was comfortable and entertained.

The rest of the group piled into the Excursion. Mike was at the wheel, Angela was in the passenger seat, and Gypsy and Manny were in the 2nd-row seats. Rosie, Heimlich, Tuck, Roll, and Dim settled into the 3rd-row seats, with Dim comfortably lying in the trunk area due to his large size.

"Everyone ready?" Mike called out from the driver's seat of the Excursion.

"Ready!" came the enthusiastic replies from inside the SUV.

The convoy set off, navigating the busy streets of D.C. towards the National Mall. The city was alive with the bustle of tourists and locals alike, the air filled with the sound of traffic and the distant hum of city life.

As they approached the National Mall, the iconic Washington Monument loomed in the distance, its white obelisk piercing the sky.

"Wow, it's even more impressive in person," Gypsy remarked from the front seat of the Excursion.

"Yeah, pictures don't do it justice," Manny agreed, glancing at the towering structure.

They found a parking spot and everyone piled out, taking a moment to stretch and take in the surroundings.

"Alright, where to first?" Mike asked, looking around at the various landmarks.

"How about the Lincoln Memorial?" Angela suggested. "It's just a short walk from here."

"Sounds good to me," David agreed, lifting Emily out of her car seat and setting her on the ground.

They made their way towards the Lincoln Memorial, passing by the Reflecting Pool, which shimmered in the midday sun. Emily giggled and pointed at the ducks swimming in the water, making everyone smile.

As they climbed the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, they were awestruck by the sheer size of the statue of Abraham Lincoln seated within.

"This is amazing," Rosie whispered, her eyes wide with wonder.

"It really is," Heimlich agreed, admiring the statue.

"Who is this?" Slim asked, looking up at the large seated figure.

Mike glanced at Angela and then back at Slim. "That's Abraham Lincoln. He was the 16th President of the United States."

Angela added, "Lincoln is remembered for leading the country through the Civil War and working to end slavery. He's a significant figure in American history."

David nodded in agreement. "His leadership during a time of great division and his efforts to preserve the Union are why this memorial was built in his honor."

Lily looked at Slim with a smile. "The memorial itself is designed to look like a Greek temple, and the statue of Lincoln inside is meant to symbolize his strength and dedication. It's a powerful tribute."

The group took a moment to appreciate the intricate details of the memorial and the statue. The solemn expressions on Lincoln's face and the grandeur of the surroundings left them with a profound sense of reverence.

As they stood in front of the statue, Angela pointed out some of the inscriptions on the walls. "The memorial also has inscriptions of some of Lincoln's most famous speeches, including the Gettysburg Address and his Second Inaugural Address."

Mike looked around at the group. "It's amazing to think about the impact Lincoln had on the country and how this memorial serves as a reminder of his contributions and the values he stood for."

The group took their time to absorb the historical significance of the Lincoln Memorial before moving on to explore other parts of the National Mall. The experience left them with a deeper appreciation for American history and the legacy of Abraham Lincoln.

Francis looked up at the imposing statue and asked, "My guess is, he died, according to the word 'Memorial'?"

Mike nodded. "That's right. Lincoln was assassinated while he was still in office. He was shot by John Wilkes Booth, an actor and Confederate sympathizer, at Ford's Theatre here in Washington on April 14, 1865."

Angela added, "Booth was opposed to Lincoln's policies, particularly his efforts to abolish slavery. He sneaked into the theater and shot Lincoln in the back of the head during a play."

David continued, "Lincoln was taken across the street to a house where doctors tried to save him, but he didn't survive the night. His death marked the end of his presidency and was a significant moment in American history."

Lily concluded, "This memorial was built to honor his contributions and to remember the profound impact he had on the country, especially in leading it through the Civil War and setting the stage for the end of slavery."

Gypsy's eyes widened in disbelief as she asked, "Why would someone do something so evil and outrageous as killing him for freeing slaves? And what exactly was slavery all about?"

Angela took a deep breath. "Slavery was a system where people were treated as property rather than human beings. They were forced to work without pay, had no personal freedoms, and were subjected to harsh and inhumane conditions. It was primarily driven by economic interests, particularly in agriculture, where enslaved people worked on plantations producing crops like cotton and tobacco."

Mike added, "Some people, like Booth, were deeply opposed to the idea of abolishing slavery because they believed it was essential to their way of life and their economic benefits. They saw Lincoln's efforts to end it as a threat to their own power and prosperity."

David continued, "Lincoln's stance on ending slavery was part of his broader goal of preserving the Union during the Civil War. The conflict was largely about whether states had the right to secede and whether they could maintain slavery."

Lily nodded in agreement. "Unfortunately, not everyone saw the value in freedom and equality for all people, which is why there was such resistance and why Booth took such drastic and violent action."

Manny shook his head in disbelief. "It's hard to understand how someone could be so opposed to the idea of freedom and human rights."

Rosie frowned thoughtfully and said, "It's almost like the grasshoppers forcing the ants on Ant Island to give them food every year."

Angela nodded, her expression serious. "As much as Mike and I hate the ants– except for Dot and her friends, I have to agree. The concept is similar in that it involves one group exploiting another for their own benefit, with no regard for their well-being or freedom."

Mike added, "The grasshoppers' control over the ants is about power and dominance, just like the system of slavery was about maintaining control and exploiting others for economic gain. It's a grim reminder of how some people can use their power to oppress others."

David leaned in, "The key difference is that Lincoln fought to end that kind of oppression and to ensure equality and freedom for everyone, whereas the grasshoppers represent the kind of tyranny and exploitation that Lincoln opposed."

Lily looked around at the grand monument and said, "Seeing this memorial makes it clear how important it is to remember and learn from the past so that we can work towards a more just and equal society."

Heimlich sighed, "It's a tough but important lesson. At least we can honor Lincoln's legacy by striving to understand and fight against any form of oppression in our own lives."

As the group absorbed the significance of the monument, they continued their exploration of the Lincoln Memorial, reflecting on its historical impact and the values it represents.

"Hey, let's take a selfie in front of the statue," Lily suggested, pulling out her phone. "We should capture this moment and remember our time here."

Mike grinned and said, "Great idea! This is definitely a memorable visit."

David adjusted the camera angle and added, "Make sure to get Lincoln in the background. We want to remember the significance of this place."

As Lily positioned the phone for the shot, Gypsy and Manny gathered closer, smiling. Francis and Slim joined in, while Rosie, Dim, and Emily stood nearby, adding their own cheerful presence.

"Say 'freedom'!" Lily called out as everyone prepared for the photo.

"Freedom!" they echoed, their smiles wide and genuine.

The camera clicked, capturing the group in front of the iconic statue. Lily reviewed the photo and nodded in satisfaction. "Perfect! Now we've got a great keepsake from our visit."

The group continued to explore the Lincoln Memorial, appreciating its grandeur and historical significance. They discussed its role in American history and shared their thoughts on the impact of Lincoln's presidency.

After a while, they visited the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and the World War II Memorial, with the human family explaining each one in detail. Each monument left them with a deep sense of respect and awe for the history and sacrifices they represented.

At the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Mike and Angela explained the significance of the wall and the names etched into it. They shared stories of the bravery and sacrifice of those who served. At the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the group admired the statues representing soldiers in combat and learned about the conflict's impact. The World War II Memorial's grandeur and its honor to those who fought in both the European and Pacific theaters struck a chord with everyone.

"What's next?" Dim asked, his eyes still wide from the experience.

"Let's go take a selfie by the famous monument," Mike suggested, his enthusiasm evident.

"Which one?" Francis asked, looking around.

"The Washington Monument," Mike clarified with a grin. "It's one of the most iconic landmarks here."

The group made their way toward the tall, towering structure that stood majestically in the distance. As they approached, they marveled at its sheer height and the historical significance it held. Lily led the way, eager to capture another memorable moment.

"Alright, everyone, gather around!" Lily called out, positioning her phone.

The group assembled in front of the Washington Monument, smiling and chatting excitedly about their day. As Lily took the photo, she captured the majestic monument and the happy faces of her friends and family.

"Perfect!" Lily said as she reviewed the photo. "This is going to be a great memory."

They continued to explore the area around the Washington Monument, taking in the beautiful views and reflecting on their experiences. The day had been filled with meaningful visits and memorable moments, leaving everyone with a deep appreciation for the rich history of Washington.

"Alright. Let's go get some Washington-style pizza," David suggested, glancing at everyone with a smile. "I'm sure all of us, especially you Heimlich, are craving food right now."

Heimlich's eyes lit up at the mention of pizza, his excitement palpable. "Food! Ja, bitte!"

The group began to make their way towards a well-known pizzeria in the area, their spirits high from the day's explorations. Along the way, they chatted about their favorite types of pizza and shared stories about their past experiences with different styles.

As they entered the pizzeria, the delicious aroma of fresh pizza filled the air. They quickly found a large table and settled in, eagerly scanning the menu.

"So, what's Washington-style pizza like?" Gypsy asked, curious about the local specialty.

"It's known for its thin crust and usually topped with fresh, local ingredients," Angela explained. "The flavors can be really unique, and some places even have their own signature toppings."

Manny nodded in agreement. "Sounds great. I'm looking forward to trying it."

As they placed their orders, the group chatted about their favorite pizza toppings and reminisced about the best pizzas they had ever tasted. The pizzeria was bustling with locals and tourists alike, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming.

After a short wait, the pizza arrived, and everyone eagerly dug in. The thin, crispy crust, flavorful toppings, and gooey cheese made for a delicious meal that everyone enjoyed.

"This is fantastic!" Francis exclaimed, taking another bite. "Definitely worth the wait."

As they enjoyed their meal, they continued to share stories and laughter, savoring the delicious pizza and the camaraderie of their group. The day had been a success, filled with exploration, history, and great food.

After a while, the bill was settled, and everyone exited the restaurant, satisfied and full.

"Alright. Let's go back to the hotel and take a break," Angela said, stretching her arms as she led the way.

The group made their way back to their respective vehicles, chatting about their favorite moments from the day. They drove back to the hotel, the excitement of the day still fresh in their minds.

Upon arriving, they went their separate ways—some heading straight to their rooms to rest, while others took a leisurely stroll around the hotel grounds. It had been a day full of new experiences and discoveries, and the group was ready to relax and recharge for their next adventure.

Angela took off her flats and laid on the bed, stretching out with a contented sigh. Mike did the same, removing his shoes before joining his fiancée.

"Today was amazing," Angela said, nestling into Mike's side.

"Yeah, it was," Mike agreed, wrapping an arm around her. "I think exploring all those monuments and learning so much history really brought us all closer together."

Angela nodded, closing her eyes. "I'm glad we got to share this experience with everyone. It made it all the more special."

Mike smiled, leaning in to give her a gentle kiss on the forehead. "Absolutely. And tomorrow, we get to make even more memories."

"Can't wait," Angela whispered, feeling the warmth and comfort of Mike's embrace as they both began to drift into a peaceful rest.

Meanwhile, Lily and David lay on their bed in their own room, enjoying the quiet moments of relaxation after a long and fulfilling day exploring the historic sights of Washington.

David glanced over at Lily, a soft smile playing on his lips. "It's been a pretty eventful day, huh?" he remarked, brushing a strand of hair away from her face.

Lily nodded, her eyes half-closed. "Yeah, it has. So many incredible places and so much history. It's hard to take it all in."

David gently rubbed the exposed part of her belly, a comforting gesture that had become second nature to him. "I'm glad we got to share it with everyone. Emily seemed to have a great time too."

Lily smiled at the mention of their daughter. "She did. She's so curious about everything. It's wonderful to see."

David leaned in and kissed Lily's forehead. "I love seeing her happy. And I love these quiet moments with you."

Lily's smile widened as she snuggled closer to David. "I love you, David. Thank you for always being there for us."

David wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. "I love you too, Lily. Always."

Both of them gently pressed their lips against each other, their kiss initially tender and sweet, but quickly deepening into a passionate embrace.

David's hand gently cradled Lily's face, his thumb brushing softly against her cheek as their lips moved in sync. Lily's arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer, savoring the warmth and closeness.

Meanwhile, Gypsy and Manny were making their way back upstairs after exploring the downstairs hall when they stumbled upon a recording device lying on the floor. Gypsy picked it up, examining it with keen interest.

"It seems like one of our human friends might have left another log," the moth remarked, her curiosity piqued.

Her husband scanned the key to their room, and Gypsy pressed the play button as they both went in and closed the door.

"In some way, our Jerry Springer appearance may have done some good," Mike's voice began, sounding reflective and determined. "A lot of viewers, including the audience, are siding with us more than the ants. People are starting to see that the ants, including the so-called queen, princess Atta, and the Colony Council, would rather keep their traditions and stay subservient to grasshoppers than embrace true freedom. They care more about maintaining their status quo than about Flik."

Mike's tone grew more intense as he continued. "And Dot is beginning to understand that her so-called 'sister' is only interested in becoming queen and looking out for herself. Sometimes it takes a confrontation on a trashy show and a heart-to-heart with a kid to wake people up to the truth. To finally see the monsters behind the titles the ants and the queen themselves handed out."

The recording ended with a final click, the sound echoing slightly in the quiet room.

"Wish our human friends wouldn't fixate on Ant Island like this…" Gypsy sighed, her voice tinged with sadness.

"As do I, Gypsy..." Manny also sighed, shaking his head. "At least their hatred towards the ants isn't to the point where they want to seek revenge by doing something unthinkable to them."

"The Jerry Springer taping was bad enough. Even for us as guest-security," Gypsy agreed, her wings fluttering slightly as she remembered. "Working alongside Steve Wilkos and other guards to help break up their fights with the ants was both violent and difficult."

Manny nodded in agreement, recalling the chaos of the taping. "The fights were intense, and it was tough to keep everyone safe. The whole experience was more than we bargained for."

Gypsy placed the recorder on the nightstand, her expression somber. "I just hope this doesn't consume them. They deserve some peace and happiness after everything they've been through."

Manny wrapped a comforting arm around her. "Let's focus on helping them move forward, then. We can be there for them and remind them that there's more to life than the pain from their past."

Gypsy smiled softly at her husband's words. "You're right, Manny. We'll support them and show them there's still so much to look forward to."

The couple shared a tender moment of understanding before settling onto their, determined to be the pillars of support their human friends needed.
