Back at Royal Woods
Back at the Loud House, the family van, Vanzilla, pulls into the driveway. One of the passenger doors open, and out comes a very upset-looking Lynn Jr, holding a baseball bat that was broken in half. The reason it was like that was because her softball team, The Squirrels, ended up losing their state championship game against the Hazeltucky Lions, and..., she didn't take it too well. Her parents and sisters soon exit Vanzilla, and follow her into their house with looks of concern on their faces. The family, except for Lincoln enters their house.
"I'll be in my room." Lynn Jr said, bitterly and she storms upstairs and into the room she shared with Lucy.
"She's literally taking that loss hard." said Lori.
"It was the championship game, Lori." said Rita Loud.
"How could she have lost?" asked Luna. "I didn't see Lincoln anywhere."
"And we know he wasn't in that squirrel mascot outfit." said Lola. Rita pinches the bridge of her nose in exasperation.
"Yes, sweetie; you definitely figured that out easily enough." said Rita as she remembered what happened after the game.
(Flashback)
Lynn Jr was at home plate with a stunned look on her face as she watches the Hazeltucky Lions celebrate winning the state championship. Her stunned look was soon replaced with a look of fury before she broke her bat over her knee, then plops down onto the ground in frustration. Her family, except for Lincoln, walk over to her with looks of pity on their faces.
"Are you okay, sweetie?" asked Lynn Sr.
"No; I lost!" said Lynn Jr, making Lynn Sr. flinch.
"How could that happen?" asked Lori. "Lincoln's not even here with his bad luck."
"I don't know." said Lynn Jr with a frown. Lola looks around and sees the Royal Woods Squirrels' mascot walking away.
"I'll bet Lincoln's in that squirrel costume!" said Lola. She then runs over to the mascot, and tackles it from behind, knocking it to the ground. She then rolls it onto its back and stands on it to pin it down. "YOU RUINED YOUR SISTER'S GAME WITH YOUR BAD LUCK, LINCOLN!" She then pulls the mask off the mascot's head, just as the rest of her family, except Lincoln, run over to her.
"Since when did Lincoln dye his hair?" asked Leni. Lola then looks at who was under the mask to see that it wasn't Lincoln, but a boy with curly brown hair, and freckles. He was trembling with fear, sweat was coming down his forehead, and tears were building up in his eyes. As Lola looks around, she sees that the people in the bleachers, along with Lynn's teammates and coach, were looking at her with looks of shock on their faces. Lola chuckled nervously in response.
"Oops." said Lola as she put the mascot head back on the boy, unaware she was putting it on backwards.
"Isn't that the girl who won the Little Miss Gemstone Pageant a month ago?" a woman in the bleachers asked another woman next to her.
"I think so. Who would've thought she'd be such a brute offstage?" replied the other woman.
(End Flashback)
"Probably lost some pageant cred because of that." Luna said to Lola.
"Lola; you will apologize to that boy next time you see him." said Rita, sternly. "He's probably going to need therapy after that stunt you pulled, as well as a clean pair of underwear."
"Yes, Mommy." replied Lola. They all then hear the sounds of Lynn grunting as she hits her punching bag to vent her frustration from her loss.
"Everyone, I think we need to give LJ some space for a while until she calms down." said Lynn Sr.
"Okay, mom. I'm gonna head to the mall. Jackie and Mandee are meeting me there to do some clothes shopping." said Leni.
"Have a good time, sweetie." said Rita. Leni leaves the house and takes a bus to the Royal Woods Mall. When she arrives there, she enters and heads to the food court, where she sees Jackie and Mandee sitting at one of the tables, who notice her arrive.
"Hey, Jackie. Hey, Mandee." said Leni.
"Hi, Leni." said Mandee as she and Jackie walk over to her and do their air kiss greeting.
"You girls ready to shop?" asked Leni as she pulls out her shopping list.
"Do you have to ask?" asked Mandee as she and Jackie pull out their shopping lists. As the three head for Reiningers, the three talk about their days so far.
"So, how did it go at your sister's game?" asked Jackie.
"Her team lost." replied Leni.
"That's too bad." said Mandee.
"She's really taking the loss hard." said Leni.
"Nobody wins all the time." said Jackie. "Take today for example; there was a raffle drawing outside the mall earlier today for a scholarship to a fancy-looking academy in some far away country."
"Yeah. We got raffle tickets, but neither of us won; but it's not the end of the world." said Mandee.
"Yeah, and besides, the kid who did win needed it more than we did anyway." said Jackie.
"He was homeless." said Mandee as she and Jackie look down with forlorn looks on their faces.
"Oh, that's so sad." said Leni as she put a hand over her chest.
"All he had was very little cash, and the clothes on his back." said Mandee.
"What about the clothes he was wearing?" asked Leni. Jackie and Mandee roll their eyes in response.
"You know, that kid did look very familiar." said Jackie, scratching her chin.
"I know. I'm still trying to remember where I saw him before." said Mandee, scratching her head.
"Do we know any boys with white hair?" asked Jackie.
"Well, there's my brother, Lincoln." said Leni, making looks of realization appear on Jackie and Mandee's faces.
"Now I remember where we saw him before." said Jackie. "From your photos of your family that you posted online; that was your little brother we saw!"
"Yeah!" said Mandee. A look of confusion suddenly appears on her face. "Wait, how can he be homeless? Doesn't he live with you and your family, Leni?"
"Oh, we kicked him out of the house." said Leni. She hears her friends gasp, making her look at them to see looks of shock on their faces. "What's wrong?"
"You kicked your own little brother out of your house?!" said Jackie. "How could you and your family do something like that?!" Leni was surprised by her friends' actions.
"He was bad luck!" explained Leni.
"What gave you and your family that dumb idea?!" asked Mandee.
"My sister, Lynn, lost a softball game a few days ago; she said she lost because Lincoln was bad luck." explained Leni.
"She was probably just trying to put blame on someone else for something that was her own fault!" said Mandee.
"I would never throw my little brother, Sebastian, out of our house like that, no matter what the reason!" said Jackie. Mandee turns and starts walking away.
"Come on, Jackie!" said Mandee. "I suddenly don't feel like shopping today; not with Leni, at least!" Jackie walks over to Mandee and the two start heading towards the mall exit.
"Wait, you, guys!" said Leni as he starts running over to them, only to have them hold out the palms of their hands towards her.
"Stay away from us!" said Jackie.
"We don't want anything to do with someone as heartless as you!" said Mandee.
"Consider our friendship over!" said Jackie, before she and Mandee exit the mall, leaving Leni with a look of heartbreak on her face, and tears forming in her eyes. Outside the mall, Jackie and Mandee were talking about what Leni just told them.
"I can't believe that Leni and her family would do something like that!" said Mandee.
"People have to know about this!" said Jackie as she pulls out her device and starts typing something, prompting Mandee to do the same thing.
Back at the Loud House, everyone was in the living room, except for Lincoln who was on a plane, Lori and Lisa who were upstairs, and Leni who was still out. Lynn Jr eventually calmed down after twenty minutes of wailing on her punching bag and came downstairs to join her family. As they all watched TV, the front door opens, and in comes Leni with a sad look on her face, and some mascara running down it.
"What's wrong, sweetie?" asked Rita. "Didn't have anything you liked at the mall?"
"Worse; Jackie and Mandee don't want to be friends with me anymore!" said Leni as she covers her face with her hands and sobs loudly, making Rita walk over to her, and hug her while stroking her hair.
"Calm down, Leni. It's okay." said Rita in a soothing tone. A minute later, Leni finally calms down.
"Thanks, mom." said Leni with a sniffle.
"Why don't Jackie and Mandee want to be your friends anymore, sweetie?" asked Lynn Sr.
"I told them about how we kicked Lincoln out of the house, and they were upset about it." explained Leni.
"Didn't you tell them about Lincoln being bad luck?" asked Lynn Sr. Leni nods in response.
"Did you tell them how Stinkoln made me lose a game with his bad luck?" asked Lynn Jr.
"Yes, Mandee thought you were blaming Lincoln for something that was your own fault." said Leni.
"Oh, is that right?!" replied Lynn as she begins punching her palm. "When I see her, I'm going to put her in a..." She was suddenly interrupted by a loud scream from upstairs. Lori suddenly comes running downstairs while staring at her device with a panicked look on her face.
"Leni! Did you tell your friends about how we kicked Lincoln out of the house?!" asked Lori.
"Yes, and they're not friends with me anymore." Leni sadly replied.
"Is something wrong, Lori?" asked Rita.
"Jackie and Mandee posted online about how we kicked Lincoln out of the house, and well, look at what people are saying!" said Lori, showing her family her device. The rest of the family read what was on the phone. On it was a post about how Leni told Jackie and Mandee about how she and the rest of the family kicked Lincoln out onto the street with only a pair of pajamas and little cash because they thought he was bad luck. They got worried when they saw all the angry comments below it.
"Why are people upset about what we did?" asked Luan.
"Well, when you think about it, kicking a kid out onto the streets in his pajamas; along with no food, water, money, or any way of getting those things, doesn't sound like something people would be cool with." said Luna.
"I admit that if I heard about a child being kicked out onto the street like that, I would probably be upset about it also." said Rita. Lisa walks downstairs with a small book in her hand, and a look of disapproval on her face.
"What's wrong with you, Lisa?" asked Lola.
"I was reviewing footage from my video surveillance system, and I made some discoveries." said Lisa.
"Like what, Lisa?" asked Lynn Sr. Lisa turned towards Lynn Jr.
"Elder sister; when you said Lincoln being at that softball game you lost is what caused you to lose; you neglected to mention that he only went in the first place because you forced him to." said Lisa with a glare. The rest of the family turned towards Lynn Jr.
"You didn't mention that, Junior." said Rita as she gives Lynn a cold stare, making her nervous.
"Oh, c'mon; I wasn't that forceful." replied Lynn Jr.
"You threatened him with a baseball bat." said Lisa.
"WHAT?!" yelled Rita, making Lynn flinch in response.
"Not cool, sis." said Luna.
"If that's why Lincoln went to that game, then you literally deserved to lose." said Lori.
"Also, I discovered that Lincoln really did set up those incidents to make us believe that he was bad luck, so we wouldn't let him come to all our events." said Lisa.
"Oh, come on, he doesn't go to that many events." said Lori.
"Oh, really?" replied Lisa as she took the small book she had with her and opened it. "This is Lincoln's schedule book; this shows when all our events are." She shows it to everyone else, revealing that practically every waking hour that didn't involve school, or eating a meal, was spent at their events, or helping them out with stuff; such as being Lori's caddie at her games, helping Leni with dresses, Luan's Funny Business assistant, Lynn Jr's sparring partner (against his will), helping Lucy with poems, Lola's pageant coach, etc. Everyone soon realized that Lincoln does a lot for them without being allowed to have much time to himself to just chill out.
"This does seem like way too much to put on an eleven-year-old." admitted Lynn Sr.
"Man, we messed up, big time." said Luna.
"Okay, everyone, get in Vanzilla." said Lynn Sr. "We're going to find Lincoln, apologize, and bring him back home. Maybe if he forgives us, people won't be upset with us anymore." All of a sudden, the phone rings; Lori looks at the caller ID, and saw they were getting a call from Rita's dad/Loud siblings' grandfather, Albert Cunningham.
"Hey, it's Pop-Pop." said Lori. Rita walks to the phone and picks it up.
"Hello, Dad." answered Rita.
"RITA! WHY IS THERE A POST ONLINE SAYING YOU AND THE REST OF THE FAMILY THREW YOUR OWN SON, MY GRANDSON, OUT ONTO THE STREETS IN HIS PAJAMAS, AND WITH VERY LITTLE CASH?!" yelled Albert.
"We never gave Lincoln any money when he kicked him out." said Rita before covering her mouth with her free hand, wishing she didn't mention that.
"YOU THREW HIM OUT WITH NO MONEY TO HELP HIM SURVIVE?!" yelled Albert. "WHAT KIND OF MOTHER ARE YOU?!"
"Not a perfect one, I guess." replied Rita, timidly.
"Find Lincoln, bring him home, and apologize to him!" yelled Albert. "Do I make myself clear?!"
"Yes, Dad." said Rita. "We were actually just about to do that before you called us."
"You better have!" said Albert. He and Rita both hang up. Everyone else looks at Rita with concern.
"Was Pop-Pop mad?" asked Lana.
"Mad doesn't even come close to describing how upset Pop-Pop was." replied Rita.
"Everyone, let's go find Lincoln, and bring him home!" said Lynn Sr. Leni then decided to bring up something else that her ex-friends mentioned earlier.
"Lincoln might not be in Royal Woods anymore." said Leni.
"What do you mean?!" asked Rita.
"Jackie and Mandee told me how Lincoln won a trip to a faraway country to attend some sort of academy in a raffle drawing." replied Leni.
"Well, that proves that Lincoln wasn't bad luck." said Lori. "If he was, he wouldn't have won."
"So, what you're saying is that Lincoln may not only not be in Royal Woods, but he might also not even be in the country?!" asked Lynn Sr.
"I guess." replied Leni.
"Fear not; Lincoln may not have left yet." said Lisa as she reaches into her pocket and pulls out her tracking device.
"What's that thing, Lisa?" asked Rita.
"A while back, I put a tracking chip in Lincoln." said Lisa.
"You told us you only put tracking chips in Mom and Dad." Lucy says from behind Lisa, scaring her.
"You put tracking chips in us?!" asked Rita.
"Is that what's causing this itching feeling I usually feel on my head?" asked Lynn Sr. Lisa looked nervous, then turns her attention to her tracking device, partly to avoid looking at her family's angry faces.
"This tracker can find anyone with one of my tracking chips in him or her within a twenty-mile radius of it. Now, let's see if this can pick up Lincoln's signal." said Lisa. She looks at the tracker and couldn't find Lincoln's signal. "This isn't picking up Lincoln's signal. That could only mean he's already left Royal Woods, maybe even the country." The rest of the family became extremely nervous. Lori continued to look at her phone with dread on her face.
"This is literally bad! Look at these comments!" said Lori. "Worst family in Royal Woods! I'm booing Lynn at all her sports events from now on! Lori should take one of her golf clubs and..." A shocked look appeared on her face. "Okay, I'm not finishing reading this one." The family begins pacing around with panicked looks on their faces, while Lynn Jr. only stood there with a stunned look on her face.
"What have I done?" asked Lynn Jr.
End of Chapter 2
Authors' Note: We'll be keeping the 'Which Paldean Starter should Lincoln get?' poll up until this Saturday, 9/30/23. So vote, or leave a review showing your choice for starter. We might just end up going with Sprigatito because of how his friend, Clyde, has cats; and how Sprigatito's final evolution is like a magician and Lincoln liking magic, so Sprigatito would be a good fit for him.
