Jubilife Contest (Part One)
"Come on, let's hurry up!" said Stella as she and Dawn quickly ran down a street in Jubilife with Lincoln, Luna, Clyde, and Sam right behind them.
"Wow, they're in a hurry." said Luna with a chuckle.
"Well, they both really want to enter the Pokemon Contest here in Jubilife." said Lincoln.
"They've been working extra hard to prepare for it these last three days." said Sam. And that was a true fact; ever since Dawn got her Piplup, she's been working hard to get him ready for today; learning new moves, and practicing for the Performance part of the Pokemon Contest. Stella's also been working towards the contest as well.
Everyone soon arrived at a large round stadium with a pink roof that had a glass top on it.
"Here we are." said Dawn.
"I can't wait to get started." said Stella with excitement. The group enters the stadium and head for the registration desk.
"Hello. Are you here to sign up for today's Pokemon Contest?" asked a woman.
"Yes, ma'am." said Stella. The woman holds out a clipboard and has Dawn and Stella sign their names on it to register which they complied with. After that, the woman gives each of the girls a ribbon case, a rule book, a clear plastic ball, and several kinds of stickers.
"What's that clear plastic ball for?" asked Sam.
"I'll show you." said Dawn. She puts her Piplup's pokeball in the clear plastic ball and puts the sticker over the opening button; she then tosses the pokeball, and instead of coming out in a large mass of light, Piplup comes out in a burst of pink hearts and glitter.
"That is so cool!" said Stella.
"I know!" said Dawn. "These really make your performances more spectacular."
"Maybe I'll use some stickers also." said Stella as she looks at the different kinds of stickers there were and picks one she felt would suit her Roselia.
"The contest will start in one hour." said the woman.
"Thanks, ma'am." said Dawn and Stella in unison.
"The dressing rooms are backstage through that door over there." said the woman as she points to a nearby doorway.
"Have fun, you two." said Lincoln. Stella smiles at him before kissing him on the lips.
"Wish me luck." said Stella. Dawn frowns before walking over to Lincoln and kisses him on his cheek.
"Me, too." said Dawn before she and Stella glare at each other.
"Maybe you should both focus on your contest performances?" suggested Lincoln, hoping to ease the tension between the two.
"You're right, Lincoln." said Stella.
"Let's hurry and get changed." said Dawn as she and Stella ran towards the dressing rooms.
"So, what should we do now?" asked Luna.
"Let's find some good seats." said Sam.
"Good idea." said Lincoln. "But first I should let my family know about this; Lola seemed interested in Pokemon Contests." He then uses the communication function that Lisa installed on his Poketch to contact his family.
"Greetings, brother." said Lisa.
"Hey, Lisa." Lincoln replied. "Is Lola there?"
"She's right here." said Lisa. About a second later, Lola's face appears on the screen.
"Hi, Linky." said Lola.
"Just letting you know that we're at a Pokemon Contest Hall to watch Stella and Dawn perform." said Lincoln.
"Oh, goody." said Lola with glee.
"Make sure to let Stella's family know also." said Lincoln.
"Okay." said Lola.
"I can use my dimensional drone there to broadcast the contest to our television." said Lisa.
"Good idea." said Lincoln. As they head for the bleachers, they see a girl with short red hair with sunglasses on it, wearing an orange vest over a magenta shirt, pale blue jeans, and brown boots; behind her was a gray catlike Pokemon with a spiral tail. Out of curiosity, Lincoln takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Glameow, the Catty Pokemon. With its sharp glare, it puts foes in a mild hypnotic state. It is a very fickle Pokémon." said the pokedex.
"It's so adorable." said Clyde. The girl then walks over to the registration desk and signs up. The group then decides to head to the bleachers and found some good front row seats.
Later in the dressing rooms, Dawn and Stella were looking at themselves in mirrors at the outfits they picked to wear in the contest. Dawn was wearing a pink dress with a red ribbon around her waist (the one she wore in her first contest in the anime.), while Stella wore a red evening gown with white gloves that reach her elbows, along with white high-heeled shoes.
"This is going to be so much fun." said Stella.
"You bet it is." said Dawn. She then looks around for something.
"What are you looking for?" asked Stella.
"I can't find my choker." said Dawn.
"Excuse me." a female voice says, making Dawn and Stella look to see the girl that their friends saw in the lobby, this time wearing a white jacket that was long in the back, with blue pants, with her Glameow; Dawn notices that around the Glameow's tail was her choker.
"My choker." said Dawn.
"Yeah, we found it in the lobby on the floor." said the girl.
"Thanks." said Dawn with relief as she grabs her choker and puts it around her neck.
"You're welcome." said the girl.
"My name's Dawn." said Dawn.
"I'm Stella." said Stella.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Zoey." said the girl now known as Zoey. "I'll see you all later." Zoey then exits the dressing room.
Later in the contest hall's performance area on a large stage, a woman with brunette hair with a pink hairband in it, wearing a long yellow jacket over a pink top, skirt, and leggings, was coming out with a microphone.
"Hi; Marian here, and welcome to the Jubilife Pokemon Contest. Today we will watch as coordinators from all over Sinnoh compete in order to earn the Jubilife Ribbon." said the now known as Marian as she holds up a gold, diamond-shaped, object with blue and white ribbons coming out of it. "Now let's meet today's judges."
The curtain on the stage opens and three people come out. One was a gentlemen with dark gray and light gray hair, wearing a suit consisting of a light red jacket, and light gray dress pants; his name was Raoul Contesta. Another was a man with short brown hair, wearing a blue suit with a red tie; his name was Mr. Sukizo. And the final person, surprisingly, was a Pokemon Center nurse.
"It is a pleasure to be here to watch these coordinators show us their skills." said Raoul Contesta.
"Today should be remarkable." said Mr. Sukizo.
"I hope everyone has fun today." said the nurse.
Soon, the contest was underway; with lots of coordinators showing off their Pokemon's skills to the best of their abilities.
"Up next from Sandgem Town, we have Stella Zhau." said Marian. Stella comes out and walks to the center of the performance area where she lets out her Roselia.
Back in Royal Woods at the Loud house, the Louds that were there, along with Stella's parents were watching the contest on the Louds' TV.
"This Pokemon Contest stuff is literally fancy." said Lori.
"I love how the coordinators get to dress up and everything." said Lola.
"Some of those outfits are, totes, amazing." said Leni.
"Stella looks lovely in her dress." said Mrs. Zhau.
"Maybe she's trying to get her little boyfriend's attention?" suggested Mr. Zhau, making Lincoln's sisters giggle.
Back at the contest hall, Stella was about to begin her performance. She tosses her Roselia and lets her out in a shower of pink petals.
"Those stickers are so cool." said Clyde.
"All right, Roselia, let's start things off with Stun Spore!" said Stella. Roselia releases orange powder from her rose hands up while spinning, making it twirl all around her. "Now use Magical Leaf!" Roselia then spins and releases glowing green leaves up into the air around her, as they move through the Stun Spore, the powder clings to the leaves, making them turn orange. "And now use Poison Sting on the leaves!" Roselia points her rose hands up and fires purple glowing needles from them that hit the orange leaves, causing them to break apart and come down like confetti. The crowd roars with applause.
"Quite an impressive performance." said Raoul Contesta.
"Remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"The combination of two moves really shows the coordinator's skill and creativity." said the nurse.
"That was amazing!" said Lincoln.
"Nice one, Stella!" said Clyde.
"Rad!" said Luna, making Sam nod in agreement.
As Stella walks off the performance floor, she looks over at Lincoln who was watching her and winks at him, making him blush and look away with a smile.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was cheering for Stella's performance.
"That was, totes, amazing!" said Leni.
"It really was incredible." said Lori with awe.
"Stella's really doing good for her first time." said Luan.
"Where did those petals come from when her Roselia was let out of her pokeball?" asked Lola.
"Perhaps we should ask next time we're in contact with Lincoln?" suggested Lisa.
Back at the contest hall, Dawn watches as Stella walks back to the dressing room.
"She really was pretty good." said Dawn. But a look of resolve appears on her face, and she steps out onto the performance stage.
"And next, also from Sandgem Town, we have Dawn." said Marian. Dawn takes out her Piplup's pokeball and tosses it, letting her out in a flurry of bubbles.
"Okay, Piplup; use Bubble!" said Dawn. Piplup looks up and releases a large flurry of bubbles up above him. "Now use Peck to pop them!" Piplup's beak glows before he leaps up at the bubbles and pops every one of them, making little glittering drops of water cascade to the floor. The crowd cheers for Dawn's performance.
"Such a spectacular display." said Raoul Contesta.
"Remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"The use of bubbles and Piplup's precision with his Peck attacks was quite amazing." said the Pokemon Center nurse.
"Awesome!" said Lincoln.
"That was so cool!" said Sam.
"Yeah!" said Luna.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was commenting on Dawn's performance.
"Wow!" said Lana.
"That was so pretty." said Lola with awe. "And I like how those bubbles came out of that cute penguin Pokemon's pokeball when he was let out."
Back at the contest hall, everyone was watching as Dawn walks back towards the backstage area, with her winking at Lincoln as she does.
After a few more performances, they come to the last one. Everyone watches as Zoey walks out onto the performance floor.
"Let's go, Misdreavus!" says Zoey as she throws her pokeball which opens with a large blast of smoke, revealing the silhouette of a Pokemon they couldn't make out.
"I can't tell what that Pokemon is." said Clyde.
"Misdreavus, use Double Team!" said Zoey. Everyone watches as multiple silhouettes of the Pokemon appear and merge together into a large version of what was seen before; as the smoke starts to disappear, the merged silhouettes spread out and disappear, leaving behind a single, dark bluish green, ghostlike Pokemon with no arms or legs, that had hairlike growths coming out the sides of its head, and looked like it was wearing a red pearl necklace.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln as he points his pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Misdreavus, the Screech Pokemon. It gets nourishment from fear that it absorbs into its red orbs. During the daytime, it sleeps in the shadows." said the pokedex.
"Lucy would love that Pokemon." said Lincoln.
"You can say that again." said Luna.
"I gotta admit that was impressive." said Clyde.
Back at the Loud house, everyone watched as Zoey takes a bow with her Misdreavus at her side.
"I liked that performance." said Lucy.
"And I'll bet you would want a Pokemon like that one." said Lola.
"You bet." said Lucy.
Back at the contest hall backstage, all the coordinators were watching to see who made it to the final round. Soon, pictures of Stella, Dawn, Zoey, and another trainer appears on the screen.
"I made it!" said Stella.
"Me, too!" said Dawn.
"So did I." said Zoey.
The finalists have been announced. Who will win the Jubilife Contest and earn the ribbon? Wait and find out.
