Truths Told
As Lincoln and Clyde head for the market to find Kieran, they both go over what was revealed to them while being very careful not to let anyone in town hear what they were saying.
"I can't believe that Ogerpon and his friend had to endure being treated so poorly because they looked different." Lincoln whispered to Clyde.
"I'll say." Clyde quietly replied to Lincoln.
"We have to do something to help Ogerpon." Lincoln whispers.
"Like what?" asked Clyde.
"I don't know right now." Lincoln whispered. "But for now, we'll let Kieran and Carmine's grandpa fix that mask up."
"And speaking of Kieran; should we tell him what we learned?" asked Clyde.
"We should." said Lincoln. "He has every right to know about Ogerpon."
"But how do we tell him without anyone else in town hearing?" asked Clyde. Lincoln thinks for a few moments before he takes out his Rotom Phone and starts typing something into it; after a while, he puts it back in his pocket.
"Okay, now let's find Kieran." said Lincoln. He and Clyde then head for the small market and soon find Kieran standing in front of it.
"Hey, Kieran." said Clyde.
"Hi, Lincoln and Clyde." said Kieran who had an upset look on his face. "So, what were you and my sis just, uh... talkin' about?"
"Nothing you want to know about." said Lincoln.
"Yeah." said Clyde.
"Oh, I-I see..." said Kieran in an upset tone.
"Anyway, Carmine's helping your grandpa out with something so she won't be coming with us." said Clyde. "So, we'll be heading for the third signboard without her."
"Oh, by the way; could you look at this...uh... 'map', and let us know if this is the best way to get there? Someone in town pointed this way out to us and we'd like a second opinion." said Lincoln as he holds out his Rotom Phone.
"Okay." said Kieran as he looks at the screen on Lincoln's Rotom Phone. To his surprise, there wasn't a map on the screeen, but a text message.
Kieran, play along.
We'll tell you everything on the way to the third signboard.
Can't say anything right now in case someone overhears what we're gonna tell you, and we don't want your sister to know we did.
Wait until we're far enough away from town, maybe past the Apple Hills.
Kieran's eyes widen as he realized what Lincoln and Clyde were up to.
"Oh, uh, y-yeah, that looks like the best way to get there." said Kieran with a smile.
"Good, so let's get going." said Lincoln.
"Let's go!" said Clyde. The three make their way out of town and head past the Apple Hills; after that, they enter an area called the Kitakami Wilds.
"Do you think we're far enough away for Mossui Town?" asked Lincoln. Clyde looks around at the area.
"Yeah, we're far enough, and I don't see anyone from town around here." said Clyde. Just then, Lincoln's Rotom Phone rings, making him look to see he was getting calls from his family and Iono. Clyde's Rotom Phone rings and he sees he was getting a call from his dads.
"I'm sure they'll want to hear what I'm about to tell you, Kieran." said Lincoln as he and Clyde answer the calls and turns on video chat for all of them.
"Good morning, son!" said Lynn Sr as he, Rita, the Loud sisters, the Santiagos, and Lincoln's friends were on and around the couch.
"Good morning, Clyde sweetie." said Howard McBride.
"Hey, Linc." said Ronnie Anne.
"What's up?" asked Bobby.
"Morning, cutie!" said Iono as she winks at Lincoln, making him blush. "Let me do my intro for my followers. Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready? Caught in my Electroweb, your eyes are mine! Whosawhatsit? It's me, Iono! Hello, hola, bonjour; and now, it's time for... The Iono Zone! Right now, my cute little Linky and his friends are continuing to explore the Kitakami Region! What will he show us today?!"
"Morning, everyone." said Lincoln. "Did you get the Volbeat that I sent you, Bobby?"
"Sure did, Lincoln." said Bobby as he takes out Volbeat's pokeball and lets him out of it while Lori lets Illumiuse out of hers.
"When are you gonna send me a Pokemon?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"As soon as I find one that I'm certain you'll like." said Lincoln.
"I hope you do." said Ronnie Anne.
"For Iono's viewers, the two people I'm talking to are two of my friends from my hometown; Ronnie Anne and Bobby Santiago." said Lincoln.
"What are you up to right now, Lincoln?" asked Lori.
"Me, Clyde, and Kieran are on our way to the third signboard." Lincoln replied.
"Can't wait to see all the Pokemon in the area on the way there!" said Lana.
"Where's that Carmine girl?" asked Lori.
"She's busy with something back in town so she couldn't come with." said Lincoln.
"Good!" said Iono. "I don't want her anywhere near you!" Lincoln's sisters giggle in response.
"Okay, but first, there's something you all, especially Kieran, should know about." said Lincoln.
"What do you have to tell me?" asked Kieran.
"We... saw the 'ogre' last night at the festival." said Lincoln.
"You did?!" asked Leni.
"Was it super scary?" asked Lana.
"No, not at all." said Lincoln. "I recorded it on video; here, I'll bring up the footage so you can all see." He brings up the recording of what he and Clyde saw at the festival last night for everyone; Lincoln pauses when he gets to a good shot of Ogerpon.
"That's it." said Clyde.
"That's the ogre?" asked Lana.
"It doesn't look that scary at all." said Lola.
"It's so cute!" said Leni.
"So that's the ogre?" asked Kieran with amazement.
"It's name is Ogerpon." said Lincoln.
"Ogerpon?" replied Lana.
"Yeah, it's time to tell you the true story about it as we heard from Kieran's grandpa about half an hour ago." said Lincoln. He then goes on to tell them everything that they learned; Ogerpon and his friend, them being outcasted, being given the four masks by Kieran's ancestor, the thieving Pokemon that have been called the Loyal Three that stole the masks and hurt Ogerpon's friend in the process, and the misunderstanding regarding the battle between Ogerpon and the thieves.
"That's horrible!" said Rita.
"How can the villagers treat someone so poorly because they looked different?!" asked Luan.
"Doesn't sound really neighborly if you ask me." said Liam.
"Ogerpon didn't deserve any of that!" said Bobby.
"Loyal Three?! More like Loser Three!" shouts Lynn Jr.
"Lincoln, if you get us some masks; don't get Loyal Three ones!" said Luna.
"Already planned on returning them and exchanging them for Ogerpon ones." said Lincoln.
"I think I saw some cute Eevee masks at that stand also, Linky." said Leni.
"Maybe some of those cute yellow masks." said Lola.
"I'll get some of those also." said Lincoln. "And the yellow ones are of a Pokemon called Pikachu."
"Thanks, Lincoln." said Ronnie Anne. Kieran lets out a sigh before he lets Lincoln and Clyde in on something else.
"I have something to tell you." said Kieran.
"What?" asked Clyde.
"I... was on the other side of the wall in front of Grandpa and Grandma's house when Grandpa told you that story." said Kieran.
"You were?" replied Lincoln.
"Yes." said Kieran. "And I want to thank you and Clyde for telling me the truth."
"We felt you had every right to know about Ogerpon." said Lincoln.
"You've always wanted to meet Ogerpon and be its friend." said Clyde. "And we're gonna help you do that."
"That's a promise." said Lincoln. Kieran smiles as tears form in his eyes.
"You guys are the best." said Kieran.
"That's what friends are for." said Lincoln.
"My Linky is so thoughtful." said Iono as she looks at Lincoln with adoration.
"I still can't believe that Ogerpon was treated like an outcast for a ridiculous reason!" said Lisa.
"Can you imagine what that's like?!" asked Rita. Lincoln growls with his fists clenched, surprising everyone.
"Wow! Linky must be very mad about what Ogerpon had to go through!" said Leni.
"That, and he does know what it's like to be treated like an outcast for a stupid reason." said Clyde, making Lincoln's family look away with shame while the Santiagos and Lincoln and Clyde's friends glare at them, and Kieran and Iono look at Lincoln with confused looks on their faces.
"What do you mean?" asked Kieran.
"There's... something we should tell you." said Lori.
"You don't have to say anything!" said Lincoln.
"But if you were willing to tell Kieran and us about Ogerpon, then he and Iono should know something about you." said Luna with some regret.
"What?" asked Iono.
"Well, it all started over a month ago..." Lynn Sr said before he tells Kieran and Iono about the 'bad luck incident', and everything that led up to Lincoln winning that scholarship to Naranja Academy. It was needless to say that after the story, Kieran and Iono were stunned before looks of outrage appeared on their faces.
"How could you all do that to your own son and brother over some dumb superstition?!" asked Kieran.
"We have no idea why, or any good enough excuse for our actions." said Rita with shame.
"I can't believe that Lincoln would let his parents off with just community service for what they did." said Ronnie Anne with her arms crossed.
"I had to accept my part in what happened at the time." said Lincoln.
"The moment that my cutie returns to Paldea, I'm kissing him like there's no tomorrow over what he's been through!" said Iono, making Lincoln blush.
"But on the plus side, it did lead to me coming to Paldea where I got to learn about Pokemon, and make new friends, including you and Kieran." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, I guess that's true." said Iono.
"And we are all very sorry for what we did." said Lori.
"Totes!" said Leni.
"What do we do now?" asked Kieran.
"Not much we can do until Ogerpon's mask is repaired." said Lincoln.
"For now, we'll just head for the third signboard to pass the time." said Clyde.
"After that, we'll figure out what to do for Ogerpon." said Lincoln.
"I hope you do, son." said Lynn Sr.
"Still can't believe Ogerpon had to live such a lonely life, dudes." said Luna with sorrow.
"I can't believe what Carmine did to stop Lincoln from telling Kieran about Ogerpon last night." said Clyde with a smirk, making Lincoln's face turn red.
"What did she do?" asked Lori. Lincoln tries his best to shush Clyde, but Kieran decides to tell anyway.
"You see; Carmine..." Kieran started to say before Lincoln tries to shush him.
A few seconds later in Levinica, outside Iono's apartment buiding, some of her fans were waiting outside it for her to come out when...
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!" Iono's voice yells out, startling everyone.
At that exact same time at the Loud house...
"EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" the Loud sisters squeal, along with a snarl from Ronnie Anne.
At that exact same time in Nemona's room at Naranja Academy...
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!" Nemona's voice shouts out, startling some students who were walking by her dorm room's door.
Back at the Kitakami Wilds, Lincoln was frozen stiff with a beet red face while his sisters and Iono were ranting after being told about Carmine kissing him.
"I'm jealous of you, Lincoln." said Rusty with a pout.
"THAT HUSSY!" shouts Iono. "I TOLD HER BEFORE; NO ONE KISSES LINKY BUT ME!"
"You should definitely give Lincoln a bigger kiss on the lips next time you see him, Iono." said Luan with a smirk, making her sisters squeal with delight, Lincoln's face turn red, and Ronnie Anne pout.
"That's definitely on the top of things I plan on doing when Lincoln returns to Paldea!" said Iono.
"A-A-Anyway, we should all get going to the third signboard." said Lincoln.
"Okay, let's go!" said Clyde.
Lincoln and Clyde have told their families and friends the truth about Ogerpon and are on their way to the third signboard. What else will they discover as their Kitakami adventure continues?
