Chapter 9

"Ash!" I telepathed, "Come here, quick!"

"What is it?" asked Ash.

"I got a message from Latias saying to get you and hurry over to her. She didn't say what it meant, but she sounded pretty worried,"

"Uh, oh," said Ash, "do you think Latios got hurt stopping the wave?"

'I hope not,' I replied, not wanting to lose one of the first real friends I had.

'Ash! Michael! Hurry! There's not much time!'

This time Ash seemed to hear the message as well because as soon as I lowered myself, he climbed on hurriedly.

'Alright, Latias, here we come,' I thought, hoping we weren't too late.

With Latios and Latias… (3rd person P.O.V)

"Brother, I sent a message to them, they should be coming soon," said Latias.

"Ok sis," replied Latios, "but remember, we must warn them first. If anything goes wrong, it could mean the end for all four of us."

Latias gulped. After she and Latios had used their power to stop the tidal wave from destroying Altomare, Latios had used too much of his power, resulting in him turning a transparent blue and slowly fading away. Latias was determined to stop him from dying. However, she knew that more power was required to revive him and she was pretty much drained. This led her to call Ash and Michael as she knew that with another legendary Pokemon and the Chosen One, they might just be able to pull it off.

Back with Ash and Michael (Michael's P.O.V)

I looked around for Latios and Latias but all I could see was a glowing blue sphere. I assumed that they were in there so I flew straight into it.

"Michael! You came just in time! Quick, bring come over here!" shouted Latias.

"Whoa! I can understand you!" exclaimed Ash, "Wait, how can I understand you?"

"I don't know," replied Latias, "but no time to explain, Latios is dying!"

"Oh no!" yelled Ash, "Is there anything we can do?"

"There is one thing," said Latios weakly, "but it is very risky and if done improperly all of us could end up dying."

"We have to try!" said Ash, "If even the slimiest chance,"

I gulped, thinking to myself. I didn't know if I could help at all, but if I didn't, all of my friends might die and I would be all alone again. Sure Misty, Brock, Lorenzo, and Bianca were nice, but they just didn't connect to me as Ash, Latios, and Latias had. I assumed that this was because Latios and Latias were Pokemon like I was. I didn't know why I felt the same connection to Ash, however. I guessed that it might be because of the 'Chosen One' thing Latias and Latios were talking about. I sighed to myself, now was not the time to be contemplating my decisions. It was either all in or all out. I took a deep breath. "Alright, let's do it,"

"Ok, said Latios, "Michael, come over to me and focus on transferring energy to me Ash, you do the same. Latias will help assist you."

Ash and I did as instructed and we all tensed as we got ready.

"On the count of three," said Latios, "One, two," I braced myself. "three."

I closed my eyes but felt nothing. Cautiously, I opened them and saw that waves of light were flowing from Ash and I to Latios. Slowly, his color was returning. Suddenly, I felt very tired. I struggled to stay awake, but it felt like all the energy was being drained from me. I strained my eyes, trying to keep them open, but it was no use. A few seconds later, my eyelids dropped and I fell fast asleep.

I woke up in a strange white room. Slowly regaining consciousness, I stretched and picked myself up. Next to me, I saw Ash, Latios, and Latias blinking and stretching as well. I looked around. 'Where am I?' I wondered.

"You are in the Hall of Origin," a voice boomed. I looked up to see what I assumed to be a Pokemon standing a distance away from me. Looking around the room, I noticed lots of Pokemon, all of them were powerful looking and sitting/standing/floating in a large circle around me.

"Who said that?" I turned to notice Ash rubbing his eyes. He gasped when he saw all the Pokemon. "Wait what? What's happening?"

"Brother," said Latias, "why are we here?"

"I don't know sis," replied Latios, "let's just see what Arceus has to say,"

"Alright, now that our 'guests' are awake, this meeting will now begin," said the Pokemon who I presumed to be Arceus based on Latios' statement.

"Latios, Latias, you already know who I am, but Ash and Michael, I believe I have yet to introduce myself. My name is Arceus, and you are in the Hall of Origin. Around you are all of the Legendary and Mythical Pokemon."

"Why have you brought us here Arceus?" asked Latios.

"Because there are a few things that we need to take care of," replied Arceus simply, "first, Michael, congratulations on passing your first test,"

"Huh? What test?" I asked.

"I am referring to when you helped save Latios' life of course," said Arceus, "even in the face of fear, you decided to help a friend and for that, you shall be rewarded. Michael, I would like to invite you to become an official member of the Legendary Council."

"Yay! I was hoping you would make it!" said Latias cheerfully.

"What's the Legendary Council?" I asked.

"The Legendary Council is made up of all Legendary and Mythical Pokemon," said Arceus, "since you have succeeded in helping to save Altomare as well as Latios, I say you have earned the right to be part of the council."

"Great job Michael!" said Ash, giving me a thumbs up.

"Wait," I said, "was this all a test?"

"Kind of," replied Arceus, "yes, it was a test, but it was far from a setup. I can assure you that neither Latios, Latias, nor Ash, knew about any of this. Furthermore, the two villains you fought, Annie and Oakley, simply happened to be there at that time. However, since they did come, I decided to allow you to prove yourself, rather than simply having one of the other Legendaries do it. Now, if you have no more questions, in order to officially be part of the Legendary Council, you must go through a little ceremony. First, does anyone have any objections to Michael being added as a new member?"

Silence reigned throughout the room with only a cough or two from a few of the Legendaries.

"Alright then," continued Arceus, "Michael, lower yourself please."

I did as instructed and hovered a little closer to the ground.

Arceus suddenly switched to a very commanding and imperial-sounding voice. "I, Arceus, head of the Legendary Council, and Lord of all Pokemon, hereby declare Michael as an official Legendary Pokemon and as the newest member of the Council of Legendaries." Arceus then tapped me on the head with one of his legs. As he did, I felt a powerful force flowing through me, and suddenly, something burst inside me and I felt power rushing through my whole body. "Michael, you may now rise." I levitated higher, and everyone in the room clapped.

"Now, Chosen One," said Arceus, turning his attention to Ash. "I thank you for helping Michael and defending Altomare as well. However, I have sensed a great evil arising in the world, one that I alone cannot stop. So, Ash Ketchum, I will require your assistance. Do you accept?"

"Sure!" said Ash, "I mean, I'll do what I can, I don't know if I'll be able to do it myself but…"

"And that is why I am sending Michael, Latios, and Latias to help you in this mission." continued Arceus, "I will also give you this special item for your partner Pikachu."

"What?" Ash asked.

"Here," said Arceus, and as he spoke, a black bracelet floated over to Ash. It had several slots in it most of them empty. However, the one at the top had a shiny yellow crystal in it. "This is called a Z-ring and in it is a Z-crystal. Using this item, you can unleash a powerful move with Pikachu called 10,000,000 Volt Thunder Bolt. Be warned, however, as you can only use this powerful move once per battle and both you and your partner will be very exhausted after using it, so save it until you are completely out of other options."

"Thanks, Arceus," said Ash.

"You are most welcome," replied Arceus, "now, your mission is this; a new evil team called Team Galactic has been gaining power in the Sinnoh region. Your mission is to stop them no matter what. If they succeed, the world as we know it could come to an end."

"How do I start?" asked Ash.

"Well, first," said Arceus, "since you've helped so many legendaries, I think you have earned the right to have some of your own. So, Latios, Latias, would you mind having Ash as your trainer?"

"Not at all," said Latios.

"Great! I've always wanted to explore!" said Latias.

"Good," said Arceus, "but remember, I am relieving you of your duties to Altomare so that you can help Ash defeat the evil team Galactic. If you succeed, as a reward, I will allow you to remain with him if you wish," I could tell Latias was very thrilled. "now Michael, would you also allow Ash to be your trainer? I know it's a lot to ask from such a new legendary, but I sense that you will be needed in this mission."

"That's fine," I said, remembering what Pikachu said about picking the right trainer and what some of the bad ones might do to you. Besides, it would be nice to know that I wouldn't risk being captured by anyone else.

"Now, Chosen One, if you will capture Latios, Latias, and Michael in these balls, I have set them up so you can communicate with each other no matter who is inside or outside the Pokeballs."

Ash nodded. "You guys ready?"

Latios, Latias, and I nodded. After seeing our consent, Ash tapped Latios and Latias on the head with one of the Pokeballs. I noticed the familiar flash as they were sucked in the balls. When it was my turn, Ash smiled at me before gently tapping my head with the final ball. On contact, it felt like the ball was sucking me in and the world around me felt like it was spinning. Eventually, I found myself in what looked to be a small, dark, room. I could feel the ball shaking, and once it stopped, everything lit up around me. I was inside a small room with simple things in it like a bed and a desk. I noticed, however, that everything seemed to be made specifically for me.

'So this is what it's like inside one of these things,' I mused to myself, it wasn't very interesting, but I didn't see what Pikachu hated about them. Suddenly, I felt a force pulling me out. After another spinning sort of motion, I was back in the Hall of Origin.

"Well then, Ash, Latios, Latias, Michael, I am going to send you back to Altomare now," said Arceus, "you all spent a lot of energy and you need rest to recover it. I also think your friends are very worried about you." After speaking, Arceus' eyes flashed briefly and the Hall of Origin slowly faded into blackness.
