Never Let Me Go
Chapter 11
You can't choose what stays and what fades away.
You're my head, you're my heart
You are the silence in between.
sometime later
"You were really in the mood to shop today." Haley said.
"I've been wanting to come here since it opened."
"I love everything in here." Sadie replied.
As she went back walking towards the aisles.
Haley quietly started to put some of the clothes back.
This was way beyond her budget.
"Stay close Lizzie!" Peyton called out before turning her gaze towards her cellphone.
"I'm taking her to art class right after this. You know our girl."
"She sees something she wants and has to have it."
"You know we can't no to her." Peyton replied.
"I love you too Nate." Peyton said.
"Poor Haley Nobody. I think you're lost."
"The Salvation Army is on you're side of town." Peyton said.
Haley glared at her. Before she could say anything.
Sadie returned. Linking her arm with her mom.
"We should get going." Haley said. Focusing on her daughter.
"Elizabeth where are you honey?" Peyton called out.
...
"That's the basketball player's wife. Do you know her?" Sadie questioned. When they made it to the parking lot and got inside the car.
"She's no one. We should get something to eat." Haley said.
"I saw the way you reacted to her when i walked up."
"She's not a stranger to you. Was she a friend of yours?" Sadie asked.
"No not a friend. Someone from my past."
"It's not work talking about. Now where do you want to go eat?" Haley asked. As she drove out of the parking lot.
...
"Daddy look at all my stuff." Elizabeth exclaimed as she entered the front door of the home.
Nathan smiled up at her. "Go put all this way. I have a snack waiting for you in the kitchen." She replied.
Nathan felt Peyton's gaze burning into him.
"What's wrong?" He questioned.
"I ran into Haley James and her daughter." Peyton replied.
"I moved back for us. Haley and that girl aren't a factor." Nathan insisted.
Relief washed over her face.
"We should talk in depth about expanding our family." Peyton proclaimed.
Nathan felt his heart sink. The words flew so easily from his lips.
He was so hell bent on keeping on everything moving.
The life they had built. Knowing his choices made him a stranger to his first born was more then he could digest.
So he kept the thoughts of Haley and Sadie away.
It was the only way he could keep moving forward.
...
