When Kellie got home, the kids were in bed and she found Jason at the pool table. Kellie quietly closed the door to the room as she watched Jason take his shot.
"Hey," Jason said, "Everything went alright with Charles I take it since you ended up staying for dinner."
"For the most part," Kellie said, "There was a moment there where I didn't think I could handle the conversation especially after just blurting out "Why did you leave me the house?" Even that one caught Charles off guard."
"I'm sure he recovered and part of him knew that was coming," Jason said, racking the balls.
"I guess so," Kellie said, "He still had the right words to keep me from running off. But it was one of the few times, I got the sense he was so unsure of what to say."
"I could see that," Jason said, "As much as Charles is rarely fazed, he did just come home from being held captive by Victor for months. It changes you, your perspective on life. He had to answer questions for you that he hadn't foreseen answering once he'd passed and the estate was settled. He's never been one to say what he feels necessarily, he shows you. It might have been a little uncomfortable for him to say things, he'd never planned on saying out loud. At least that's my guess if the some of the conversation went the way I think it probably did."
"You'd have been right," Kellie said as Jason took a shot to break the balls , "I just don't know if I have a lot to want to say about it right now."
"You only have to talk about it if you want to," Jason said, handing Kellie a pool cue and motioning to her to play.
"Did Danny and Jake come over?" Kellie asked, lining up her shot.
"They did," Jason said, as Kellie sunk the first ball, "So did Scout and Aiden. Aiden made brownies for everyone and tried to show Scout and Kelsey what to do."
"That's so sweet," Kellie said, lining up another shot and sinking the ball.
"He made sure to set some aside for you," Jason said.
"How were Danny and Jake?" Kellie asked, assessing her next shot, "I know they were coming over to check on the boys, Alyssa, and Kelsey with Charles coming back."
"It was good," Jason said as Kellie missed her next shot, "Considering how rough it was when we first got married. It's nice to how much all the boys look out for each other and that they include Aiden and Scout when they want to come over."
"It only took a brawl between Danny, Jared, Jamie, and Jake which resulted in us grounding them," Kellie said, watching Jason take his next couple of shots, "We do owe Cameron some thanks for arranging to break them out of their punishment to this day that they think we know nothing about. Somehow he managed to broker a truce between them."
Jason missed his next shot. Then Kellie looked at Jason before missing her next shot. Kellie moved next to Jason as he took his next shot sinking the ball before missing on his second shot.
"You're forgetting something," Kellie said, her fingers playing with Jason's shirt.
"What's that?" Jason asked.
"You're supposed to strip when you miss," Kellie said.
"What about you?" Jason replied, nuzzling her neck, "You missed first."
"My turn, my rules," Kellie said, dropping the pool cue and pulling Jason's shirt off, causing him to drop his cue.
"I guess it's my turn then," Jason said, lifting Kellie on to the pool table and kissing her.
Kellie went to grab Jason's belt when Jason grabbed her hands.
"My turn," Jason said, taking Kellie's shirt off and then moving the balls on the table near them away.
Kellie grabbed again for Jason's belt as he kissed her and nudged her back on the pool table. Kellie did manage to get his belt unbuckled in the process before Jason positioned himself above her and started kissing Kellie's neck and shoulder line.
"Do I need to lock the door?" Jason asked.
"I took care of it when I came in," Kellie said, reaching for Jason's jeans.
Sometime later, Kellie and Jason eventually ended up in their bedroom.
Afterwards, when they were curled up under the covers together, Kellie realized Jason was watching her as he swept her hair out of her face.
"What?" Kellie asked.
"It's just really nice to see you this happy, this content," Jason said.
"I hate to jinx it, but this is the first time in a quite awhile that I don't think we're facing anything beyond our usual level of threats," Kellie said, "Cyrus is in prison and any other enemies that were vying to kill us and take over seemed to have back off at least for now. No other enemies to speak of especially with Victor Cassadine dead and his plan to kill off the world's population stopped."
"You did just put your full warehouse set up through its paces for the first time," Jason said, "That has to feel pretty good."
"It does," Kellie said, "what else? Our kids are happy, healthy, well-adjusted all things considered, and only getting into normal kid mischief. Everyone that was sent to Greenland to rescue Trina and Spencer has come back or is coming back. Willow will get her transplant."
"Charles was found alive after all this time," Jason said, "He's home in one piece more or less. I know how much that means to you."
"I wouldn't have thought it was possible, not after the way we thought we saw him die," Kellie said, "I don't know why it didn't occur to me look into it."
"You can't beat yourself up over it. You watched him appear to bleed out and stop breathing," Jason said, "I know the comparison is to the bullet you used to make it look like you killed Sam. But the bullet Victor used still did a lot of damage to Charles. It entered Charles much further than Sam's did and probably had what looked like blood in it as well as the drugs to cause him to look dead. Sam just needed some stitches and bandages from the bullet you used."
"Then there's the fact Victor had to have paid off people on the island to say Charles was dead," Kellie said, "I need to look into the that."
'Francis and Zach are already taking care of that," Jason said, "It's handled. We'll make sure the island is safe for you and the kids again."
"Thank you for being on top of all the stuff that I seem to be not on top of," Kellie said.
"Don't worry about it," Jason said, "You had other things to take of. I promised I was going to do a better job at making sure you were protected even if it's something you could handle. That's what I'm doing."
Kellie winced which Jason noticed.
"What is it?" Jason asked.
"Charles is insisting that he needs to have a word with you about um everything that happened last year with the business, the offer for me to head up my own," Kellie said, "I told him it wasn't necessary because you and I already had discussed the whole you making sure I could stay away from the business, but he said it wasn't up for discussion. "
"It's okay," Jason said, "If Charles has concerns he wants to address with me, I want to hear them. Make sure he's reassured of yours and the kids safety. He couldn't do that when Victor was holding him captive or say his piece when everything was happening. So if he needs to talk to me, I'm not worried about it. At least I don't worry about him punching me compared to your uncle when it comes to you."
"Wait, has Uncle Lo punched you over what happened with the business," Kellie said, "I mean other than when he found out you and I were sleeping together."
"No," Jason said, "Pretty sure he's been satisfied with keeping Sonny out of your orbit when he has the opportunity."
"Uncle Lo has enjoyed that," Kellie said, "Maybe a little too much. Okay, how did we go from just enjoying being happy to discussing the semi-overprotective tendencies of my uncle."
"I don't know," Jason said, kissing Kellie, "I can think of other things I'd rather focus on."
"Same here," Kellie said, straddling Jason and pulling the covers over them.
