Chapter Four: Second Year at Hogwarts

Albus and Rose stood in a corridor on the Hogwarts Express.

"As soon as the train leaves, you don't have to talk to me."

"I know, Al, but I just want to…"

At that moment, Scorpius popped up beside Albus.

"Hi, Rose."

Rose, not looking at Scorpius, said, "Bye Al."

"She's melting." said Scorpius hopefully.

"You're such a hopeless case," sighed Albus exasperatedly.

"I know. That's why we're friends. You'll have to assist me in getting from 'hopeless' to 'hopeful'" Scorpius quipped.

Scorpius and Albus sat side by side as Professor McGonagall gave out the start of term notices.

"To Grffindors, I'm pleased to welcome your newest member on the Quidditch team, and superb new Chaser - Rose Granger-Weasley!"

The Gryffindor Table on the farthest right erupts into cheers. Scorpius joins in.

"Are you clapping for her too? We hate Quidditch and she's playing for Gryffindor!" Albus said incredulously.

"But she's your cousin, Al."

As the Gyffindors leave the table, Polly Chapman jeers at Albus, "Albus Potter, an irrelevance. Even the portraits avoid him."
