Chapter 2:

Earth: Now

Clark Kent was at this big presentation at S.T.A.R. Labs. "Ladies and Gentlemen," says Prof. Emmett Vale, the head of S.T.A.R. Labs, "I present to you, the answer to our problems! As you all know, Metropolis has a so-called 'hero', Superman, but I believe he may be a scout for an alien invasion!"

"Here he goes again," says Lois Lane.

"The blow-hard," says Jimmy Olsen.

"But I have a way to keep us safe from the Super-Menace," says Prof. Vale, "behold, Metallo!" He reveals a large robot. "It's powered by kryptonite! Now, are there any questions?"

"Yes, can I have it?" Then a white gorilla came. It was former S.T.A.R. Labs scientist, Xavier Simon, now known as Ultra-Humanite! "That's right, everyone, it's me, the most brilliant mind Metropolis has ever known... oh, I am so sorry. The most brilliant mind the world has ever known! That's better! Anyway, I'll be taking your robot now."

Clark goes into hiding and changes into his super suit. "Not today, Humanite," says Superman.

"Superman," says Humanite, "that's funny, this robot was designed to save the world from you and now you're going to save it from me! Tragic irony!"

"I'm not letting you take it," says Superman.

"If we must dance this dance again," says Humanite.

The two then fought. Ultra-Humanite may look like an ape, but he is a brilliant man and he's strong enough to fight Superman.

"Why doesn't that blasted alien let the police handle this," asks Prof. Vale.

"Because the police can't," says Jimmy, "humanite's no ordinary man-ape-thing!"

Superman and Humanite wrestled. "Give up," says Superman.

"I could, or..." Humanite then kicks the Metallo robot and its chest opens, revealing the kryptonite, which then weakens Superman. "What kind of evil genius would I be if I played fair?" Humanite then takes the remote for Metallo. "Let's go!" He then walks out with Metallo.

Lois attempts to help Superman. "Are you alright," asks Lois.

"I think so," says Superman, "but I need a way to take Humanite down!"

"Professor, is there any led," asks Lois.

"Why would I ever help him," asks Prof. Vale.

"Because he's the only one that can get your robot back," says Lois.

"Fine," says Prof. Vale, "we have a suit of armor. The Steel Prototype! Even though it's called Steel, it's actually made of led."

...

In his new armor, Superman flies after Humanite. "Metallo, dispose of him," says Humanite.

Superman fights Metallo. The Steel Prototype suit kept him safe from the kryptonite. Superman then breaks it apart and grabs Humanite.

The people cheered, except for Prof. Vale, "You destroyed my Metallo," says Prof. Vale, "you are a menace and one day, the whole world will see!" He then leaves.

...

Superman was in the Fortress of Solitude. Sometimes, he wonders if he's really doing any good. He then sees something on the screen. Something's coming to Earth!
