Chapter Six: The Doom of Mordaxis
The Mordaxis System, a cursed realm of ruin and chaos, lay deep within the influence of the Great Rift. Here, the warp storms never ceased, and the very air hummed with dark energy. At the heart of Mordaxis, a Chaos Sorcerer named Valgorr, twisted by centuries of forbidden knowledge, had exploited the tear in reality to create a device that could destabilize Imperial systems across the galaxy. He called it the "Veil Ripper"—a weapon capable of spreading the taint of the Warp, turning whole worlds into mirrors of his corrupted domain.
But the Legion of the Damned would not allow it.
The Raptorus Rex breached the fabric of reality above Mordaxis Prime with a thunderous silence, its spectral hull casting an unnatural glow across the blood-soaked landscape. Inside the fortress-laboratory of Valgorr, the forces of Chaos scrambled to defend their foul creation, alerted by an eerie chill and the fading flicker of their once-bright sigils.
On the ground, Ferrus Manus and Sanguinius materialized, leading their spectral legion in a precise and brutal assault. Accompanying them, Rogal Dorn's spectral form, clad in fractured yellow-and-black armor flickering with amber flames, emerged, his expression a grim echo of resolve and judgment. The three Primarchs stood united, their presence more terrifying than any daemonic manifestation.
Ferrus surveyed the mechanical horrors that guarded the Veil Ripper's construction yards, his iron fists tightening. "Another playground for the misguided," he muttered. "Let us make it a tomb." With that, he raised his iron hand, spectral flames flaring as he led the charge into the heart of Mordaxis.
The Legion of the Damned advanced with a ruthless, silent fury. They moved through walls, phased through barriers, and struck from every direction at once. Ferrus's iron hands crushed daemon engines with relentless precision, tearing them apart as if they were mere paper. His spectral form twisted and reshaped mid-battle, adapting his iron fists into blades, claws, and hammers to tear through anything in his path.
Sanguinius soared above, his radiant wings casting beams of cold light that sliced through the ranks of Chaos Cultists below. His Blade of Radiance left trails of searing fire in the air, burning away the souls of the corrupted with each strike. In one swift movement, he disintegrated a pack of Possessed Marines, leaving only scorched marks where they had once stood. His eyes, filled with sorrow and wrath, scanned the battlefield for his next target, and the air around him pulsed with righteous fury.
Rogal Dorn strode through the chaos, his form a bastion of ghostly fortifications. As daemonic forces surged toward him, he raised his left hand, and walls of spectral stone erupted from the ground, blocking their approach. The Vengeance of the Fallen followed him, spectral warriors rising from the shadows to defend the fortress Primarch. Each spectral Marine struck with the precision of those who had given their lives for the Imperium, a haunting reminder of the loyalty Dorn commanded even in death.
Valgorr, watching the devastation from within his fortress, sneered as he activated the Veil Ripper. "You cannot defeat the power of the Warp!" he shouted, his voice filled with delusional confidence. But as he turned back to his twisted machine, Ferrus Manus materialized beside him, his cold gaze locking onto the sorcerer with silent contempt.
Valgorr stumbled back, chanting a spell to unleash a torrent of warp energy, but Ferrus raised his hand, phasing through the sorcerer's defense as though it were air. Ferrus's iron hand closed around Valgorr's head, and in a moment of silent, brutal efficiency, he twisted and crushed the sorcerer's skull, spectral flames consuming his body until only ash remained.
With Valgorr dead, the Veil Ripper began to malfunction, unleashing waves of chaotic energy that warped the landscape around it. Seeing the instability, Dorn took command, summoning his Spectral Fortifications to contain the device's collapse. Erecting walls of ethereal stone around the Veil Ripper, he shielded his brothers and the Legion from the waves of chaotic energy that threatened to consume them.
In the heart of the Veil Ripper's fortress, Sanguinius confronted Valgorr's final creation—a twisted fusion of daemon and machine known as the Maledictus Prime. This towering behemoth, forged from the souls of countless Imperial prisoners, bellowed with rage as it swung a massive clawed arm at the Radiant Phantom. But Sanguinius moved with an elegant ferocity, dodging the monstrous strikes with ease. His Blade of Radiance sliced through the Maledictus's limbs, cutting through metal and flesh with each strike. The behemoth howled as it staggered, its warp-infused power draining under the onslaught of Sanguinius's holy fire.
As the Maledictus Prime collapsed in a final shriek, Ferrus and Dorn joined Sanguinius, their forms blazing with spectral fire as they moved to dismantle the Veil Ripper. Together, the three Primarchs unleashed a concentrated wave of ethereal energy that shattered the device, its components disintegrating under the force of their combined wrath. The destruction sent a shockwave through the fortress, and as the Veil Ripper collapsed, so did the last bastion of Valgorr's tainted empire.
As the Legion of the Damned swept through the remnants of Mordaxis, purging every trace of corruption, they left behind only silence and ash, the ground seared by their ghostly fire. With their duty done, Ferrus, Sanguinius, and Dorn looked across the battlefield, acknowledging each other with a solemn nod.
