Harry had sent a letter to the Department of Magical Education and received his answer a week later. Pansy was coming over later so he decided to save it to read together. It was the end of June and while they had been studying on their own, now they were going to try studying together.

The raven haired young man stood by the fireplace, adjusting where the neck of his tunic met the strap of the satchel he'd taken to wearing since his legging had no pockets. Andromeda stood a few steps behind him. He was starting to like wizarding clothes. Not to mention, Andromeda had thrown out all his old clothes. But that wasn't much of a loss; baggy rags from Dudley and old uniforms that he had no chance of fitting. Besides, he wanted to adjust to wizarding culture. He was a wizard after all and going to marry (and wasn't that still a surprise) a witch. He was still processing the fact that in less than two years, he'd be married and a part of the government, making decisions for people he had never met.

The Floo lit up green and Pansy stepped out perfunctorily. She curtsied gracefully to her betrothed and then to Andromeda.

"Shall we, Berry?" She asked, in a light tone. Harry still wasn't used to the fact that his mother had named him after fruit.

"Um…Yes, the library is this way. We'll have a bit more privacy, but Andy, or more likely Kreacher, is going to be checking on us to make sure we're behaving. But we can have some um….refreshments. Kreacher's been really excited, you see." Harry rambled on as they walked up the still creaky staircase to the fourth floor.

The entire floor had been reserved as a family library, full of books on all forms of magic despite the leanings of the family. That reminded him, he had been meaning to investigate the remaining Potter properties. According to the Gringotts deeds, there were three properties all named after Pottery implements: The Kiln, which seemed to be the main living quarters, the Clay Pit, an area for working on actual pottery, and Potter's Wheel, which seemed to be a working farm of sorts.

They got to the library and sat at one of the long work tables beneath a large window that let in some light from the cloudy London weather.

Pansy put down her study materials and faced Harry, getting serious. " Since we have it in common on our testing schedules, I think we should study Charms and Defense. From what I've seen and owing to the fact we're in the middle of London, studying Herbology might be a touch harder to do. So let's be practical. "

Harry nodded and moved to pull out the letter from the Education Department out of his satchel, crinkling the heavy parchment slightly.

"I have this too, so we know what sort of topics to study.

He opened it and skimmed it. It was written in nice, neat cursive outlining the various things they'd need to know. The biggest part was knowing wordless casting and advanced theory. They could definitely study the theory together. Harry thought Andromeda had mentioned a dueling room somewhere in the house so maybe they could work on the practical parts too.

Pansy absorbed the highlights from the letter and chewed a lock of hair, which Harry thought was kind of a gross habit but he was just as bad: he chewed on his sleeves.

"Well, if we're engaged or betrothed or whatever the word for us is and we're going to be studying together, I think we should know more about each other. So, What's your favorite color?"

Harry blinked. He had been expecting a reaction but that wasn't it.

"Grey I think. How about you?"

"Grey?! That's so drab! I can fix this. I will show you that you have more options. My favorite color though? It's fuschia."

Harry blinked again. Fuschia? "I don't know that color."

She pointed to her vibrantly painted nails. "It's this color. Sorta pink purple."

"Oh. it's very… bright?" He couldn't think of anything better to say. It was a color.

Pansy huffed and muttered about boys under her breath. "Okay, what about a favorite class? I know we are in school any more but I mean we're still studying."

"I…uh…guess I like Defense."

"Why do you like Defense?"

"Well, it's pretty versatile. And it uses knowledge from all the other classes, except maybe Divination. That one's kind of a joke."

Pansy snickered. "Yeah, I used to laugh at Brown for taking it so seriously. My favorite class is Herbology. I'm sure you think that's odd for someone with my fashion tastes." She stuck her nose up, waiting for him to laugh.

"I like Herbology too. When I came to Hogwarts, it was one of the only classes I could do easily because it was similar to muggle gardening, at that level I mean."

They shared a soft smile. And then Harry ruined the moment.

"So, if I can ask, what's the deal with Draco?"

"I'll answer if you tell me the deal with Weasley the Seventh." She crossed her arms and stared at him from across the table.

"Fair enough, Ginny and I were dating before this year, but I broke things off over summer to keep her safe. But I also did a lot of thinking over the year and I'm not so sure it would've worked out. She wants to be a pro Quidditch player and I don't know what I want to do yet."

Pansy thought about this and inclined her head slightly. "Draco and I thought he was the Black heir through his mother. We never thought that it might be someone else. So we grew up thinking we were betrothed. I like him as a friend but between us he's really sensitive. Like he would rant about you until he was in tears."

Harry blinked once again. "That's intense. Why does he care so much I wonder."

The dark haired girl shrugged. "There's one more thing….I think we have to clear the air on what happened at the Battle…"

"You mean you telling everyone who could hear that they should give me up to save themselves?"

"...Yeah."

"I'm not too fussed about it. It was scary and I don't blame you for wanting an easy way out."

Now it was Pansy's turn to blink wide eyed. "You forgive me? Just like that?"

"Just like that." He gave her a grin. She grinned back.

Her smile fell minutely. "How do you feel about this contract? I realize while I've always known, you just found out."

"I never gave much thought to marriage as a kid; I had other bigger concerns. But I'm not mad about it. I just don't know much about you and you me. But that's what these dates are for right? And right now I like what I know."

"Now I guess we should lay out a study plan before Andy comes back to check on us…" He grumbled, switching tones in a heartbeat.
