James Kirk was irritated. His bondmate had erected a shield in his mind Kirk couldn't penetrate. What was going on? He looked over to Spock, nothing seemed out of order as the Vulcan leaned over the science station.

He had to take his mind of the matter as it was time to discuss the newest orders by starfleet command concerning the cartography mission of several newly discovered class M planets with his bridge crew in the meeting room.

As the meeting came to a close, the captain said: "Mr. Spock, a word."

As the rest of the crew left the room, Spock turned to the captain, waiting what was to be discussed further. His expression as calm and neutral as always, as Kirk recognized.

As soon as they were alone, he asked: "What's the matter Spock? Why is there a shield in our bond all of a sudden?"

Spock answered: "It's there to shield your mind from distraction, Captain."

Kirk huffed. "Suddenly not knowing what's going on with my bondmate is a distraction Spock! What's going on? Are you in any kind of trouble, is something paining you?"

This was met by a raised eyebrow by the Vulcan.

"I can assure you, it's not, Captain".

"Then what's going on? Why do you suddenly forbid my entrance to your mind in this way?"

Spock answered: "I can assure you, it's really nothing of significance".

Kirk felt himself becoming uneasy. "So if it isn't something tragic, why don't you just lift the shield?"

Spock took a second longer to respond. "Is this an order Captain?"

Kirk looked at Spock surprised. "Of course not, love. You know, I would never force anything on you."

He nearly missed the faint smirk around Spock's eyes. "Very well, Jim" and with that the inner shield dropped.

James T. Kirk suddenly felt himself flooded with images from Spock's mind, very explicit images. Their naked bodies pressed together, Spock's mouth closed around his own hardened member, waves of lust swabbing through the bond when they made love. Kirk gasped, he hadn't expected that. He felt is body reacting immediately, his uniform trousers becoming tighter. He never thought of Vulcan's to indulge in daydreaming, especially not in dreams of this kind.

"This seems to be a consequence of my human heritage, Captain. And surely would not be appreciated by a pure Vulcan mind, as it is not logical", Spock said in reaction to Jim's thought.

Kirk heard the swish of the conference door behind him. Thank God for him not facing the door, but rather Spock in his current condition. Yeoman Risce entered the room. "Captain, we encountered an unknown audio signal. Your presence is needed on the bridge."

"What happened to the internal communication system of the ship, that you bring this information in person?" Kirk snapped. That came out way too harsh he thought, while placing his hands over his groin protectively, even though the Yeoman couldn't see his front.

The young woman stuttered." I am sorry, Captain. I didn't think, I just rushed here as soon as our station discovered the signal..."

"That's alright, Yeoman."

Kirk looked at Spock "That would be all, Mr. Spock."

As the Captain didn't move, the Yeoman asked "Will you come, Captain?"

"I will be there in a minute".

Nearly at the door by now, Spock gestured the confused woman to leave the meeting room with him.

Taking a deep breath, Kirk taught about what I just had seen in the Vulvan's mind. The shields went up again just a split second after the door had opened, in Spock's mind. He still felt rather overwhelmed with the sudden intensity of what he had seen. He uttered a curse in regards to the physical state he was in now and clearly could feel Spocks response on his mind: you wanted to know... followed by calming and controlled feelings, which helped him to find his composure anew.

The remainder of his shift turned out to be rather event less. The signal, the Yeoman had told him about turned out to be a false alarm.

His sight turned to Spock bending over at his station, seemingly completely unfazed with what had happened in the meeting room that day. His slender graceful body never disappoint to fascinate Jim. How lucky he was to be bonded with his closest colleague, a brilliant mind and a thoughtful lover, not to forget, he thought. He wondered what was going on in Spock's mind now, behind the re-erected shield, but made sure to not let Spock feel that. He really didn't want to be flooded with images while on the bridge. What he had seen was exciting enough for him to anticipate the end of their shift fondly.

When the end of alpha shift came, Spock methodically transferred his station to another science officer and left the bridge without looking at Kirk. Kirk wanted nothing more then to go after him right away, but was, just in that moment, called by Scotty to the engine room. Swallowing his disappointment, and making sure this time to not make it detectable in his voice, he answered that he would be there shortly.
