Memories

Elissandrah's POV

I banged on Carlisle's door.

"OPEN UP!", I screamed.

A disheveled looking Carlisle answered the door.

"Please, Carlisle, you have to save him."

"You could do it yourself. You know you have the power to."

"But I don't want to be the one to do it."

"So it's a matter of pride, then."

"No it's not." I gritted through my teeth. "I could kill him. It could go awry."

"I understand that, but if it is the only way, I shall do as you wish."

"He is already half-fae Carlisle. I don't know what more fae blood would do to him."

Carlisle took Edward from my arms and rested him on the couch.

"While I work, will you tell me how your family became so… blessed?"

"Yes. I will."

"Carry on, then, Elissandrah."

"My mother, Elizabeth, had done a fae a favor in her youth. She had assisted him in finding his true love, and as a token of his gratitude, he had blessed her."

"With what?"

"He had granted her a boon, and she had wished for her unborn children to be fae. She didn't know that being fae was more of a curse than a blessing."

Edward began screaming.

My heart suffered a blow every time he had to scream. I could sense the agony in every scream, every twitch, every spasm.

Carlisle winced as well when he saw his suffering.

"So, you are fae, Elissandrah?"

"Yes", I sighed. "Sometimes I wish that weren't the case. It gets lonely sometimes. There are not that many of our kind in the world anymore. Only five from what I know. We are good friends. But…"

"But what?"

"I had always wished that Edward's fae spirit would awaken soon. Then maybe it wouldn't be as lonely anymore."

"How long have you been alive, Elissandrah?"

" My body is the same age as Edward, but my spirit is as old as time itself. I get flashes of memories every now and then from past bodies. They are not always good ones."

"Do you have any abilities?"

I nodded. "Every fae has some sphere of influence. There is the Life Quartet. It has the influence of Fate, Love, Death, and Time. The other one is War."

"Which are you?"

I hesitated for a second. "Love."

"Do you have any responsibilities?"

"Yes, sort of."

I touched Edward's cool cheek. The venom was slowing down.

I began to panic.

"So how is it that you are fae, but Edward is not?"

"There is no time to explain. I need to ask you a favor."

"Of course, my dear."

"Tell Edward I ran away. Tell him that I left because I was scared. Lie to him."

"Why?"

"It is too dangerous for him. If he loses control-"

"You mean dangerous for you."

"You didn't let me finish. Some parts of my blood are corrosive and dangerous. It could kill him if he is taken over by the thirst.", I said. "Maybe someday I'll return. For him. I will always be watching, though. I hope he knows that I love him."

Tears pooled in my eyes. I can't do this. I can't just leave him here to discover what he had become.

Carlisle gently ushered me to the door.

"It is time, Elissandrah."

"Goodbye, my sunshine.", I said as I softly kissed Edward on the cheek.
