Chapter 19- Intermission (posted October 21 2024)

The sea is great and powerful; many proclaim that the ocean was like a woman, changing her mind and moods quickly. And it is partially true, as the ocean went along with the weather. It could be calm and serene one moment, then quickly changing to be rolling chaotically in a storm! The sea was one that demanded respect from all things; from the ones that lived on the land, to the beings that flew in the air & also those that lived in the very depths themselves.

Right now, there as calm in the ocean but a strong fog was covering the surface. Due to the color of the ocean and time of day, the fog had a light-green coloring & quite thick as it made seeing through it difficult. The only noise that seemed to be going on was the sound of the waves that rose and broke gently on the surface. However, it was soon broken by another sound, which was the calling of seagulls. The white birds that lived among the coastlines flew in the air, able to navigate quite easily through the dense fog.

Two dive-bombed on the ocean, looking for fish, as it was their diet. One of them, a female who was of a darker-white coloring, managed to catch a small fish in her beak before tossing the flailing one up in the air and swallowing it whole! The other, a male one who was her mate, was not able to catch anything. The two went back into the sky, one full while the other would have to try again to get a meal.

The serene waters was soon disturbed yet again, but time by native denizens of the deep. Three bottlenose dolphins were leaping out of the water and into the air, coming back down in graceful form before doing it again. It seemed that the three young ones were enjoying speeding along & leaping to the surface like so. The sea mammals soon took a break, talking to one another in squeaks that showed vast intelligence as they could communicate to one another like so.

One of the long seagulls came to rest near the mammals, not concerned as they chatted to one another. The sea bird knew that fish and other marine life were its diet, not birds like himself. The trio continued to talk… until they felt something that caused them to cease talking, and the sea bird to look up quickly.

The four looked behind them, and coming into view from the fog was the image of a powerful wooden hull! A ship was bearing down on them! Huge white sails were unfurled to catch the strong wing, four large lanterns set at the bow of the ship that glowed with orange light! There was a figurehead at the very front of the ship. It was carved to resemble a mermaid; one of great quality and care as the one who designed paid extra attention to detail on the face and body structure, but not in a tasteless way.

However, the dolphins merely squeaked happily before diving into the ocean, the seagull spooked and flying back into the air post-haste. The ship passed over them, the dolphins soon coming back up once the immense wooden craft had sailed over them. They looked up to see the stern of the ship, which was wide in the middle area & had two lanterns on it, the sea mammals gazing at the impressive vessel before going back down into the sea.

The waves broke at the incoming vessel at it plowed through the water, apparently navigating through the thick fog with ease. It seemed that the humans piloting the craft were experienced enough to sail through dense fog like so.

On the deck of the ship in various places, seamen were doing their duty on the craft but also singing a lively tune called Fathoms Below. They were in fine shape, as it seemed that working at sea and on a ship had forged their bodies to be strong and sure.

The Ship sailed on and was soon gone.

For those devoted to this fic, I am sorry for not updating for so long. A series of hardships undermined my creativity and slowed me down greatly.

Working on the aftermath of the Sea Witch's defeat, I suffered a writer's block. I had the story mapped in my head, but I had trouble with making the characters, interactions and details feel organic. That was the first factor.

Second factor, then a personal family matter occurred a few months later, which was very whelming for the whole family, which slowed me down more.

Third factor, then Covid happen. While the disease only caused a few problems, the masks and restrictions were stressful and discouraging, which undermined my creativity again.

Forth factor, after not updating for a few years, my interest in the story died. However, for various reasons, I chose to continue it.

Now when writing fics, I juggle them, so I have a bunch of incomplete stories that are not posted and I give them random amounts of attention.

Its' to keep me from going crazy. While I have several hundred pages worth of chapters for Little Possible, I'm still working through them, fine-tuning them, correcting spelling errors and such.

And these factors mentioned above have slowed me down all these years and hope to start posting again.

I have finally got several chapters finished and I do plan to update them gradually. I hope that my updates will not take long anymore.

My Last Beta Reader could not stay and help me, so I got another. My New Beta Reader is DJ Rodriguez.

...

Enjoy the chapters to come.
