Chapter 20
…
A fog hung over the ocean waves. But then the sun began to rise, it's golden rays managed to pierce through the fog, slowly and surely evaporating it and soon the day would be bright and beautiful.
While the sun was glorious to those on the surface, underneath the waves it was more of a fuzzy orb that did bring warmth to the water, depending on how deep said water was.
The undersea kingdom of Middleton though it was brightened due to the sun reflecting off certain corral parts that made the city, giving it a soft & otherworldly glow that would have enchanted any surface dweller who saw it.
But for the merfolk that made the city their home, it was merely another day.
In the palace that held the royal family and their servants, the sun's warmth and light managed to hit certain areas such as the rooms that housed the daughters of James and Ann Possible. The daughters of the royal couple were the first to awaken, soon followed by the twin sons- Jim and Tim.
Kim was the last to awaken, but the orange-haired beauty quickly became more alert and active. Bonnie, Zita, Tara, Yori and Monique saw their sister being more meticulous in getting herself prepared. Kim would not pay much attention to her looks in the past, swiftly doing the necessities of good grooming before leaving.
But not today, as she took more effort and care when combing her hair. They swiftly realized on why she was behaving like so, which got a frown from Bonnie but a teasing smile from Monique.
The youngest Possible Princess, Kim reached to her right for her small personal purse that had her special shell inside, securing it around her right arm.
Zita eyed her sister's purse curiously. "Kim, are you seriously taking your purse to breakfast with us?"
"It's just in case Ron calls." Kim told her sister.
The name of the human prince that had apparently captured Kim's attention had varying emotions showing on the faces of the other royal sisters.
Monique smirked "Oooh, you are so lucky girl! Already having a boyfriend at your beck and call!"
Kim blushed profusely. "Ron and I are just friends!" She declared, though in her heart, she hoped that it would change into something more.
"Yeah, it's not like you two can BE together." Bonnie stated in an acidic tone.
This got the sisters to look her with stunned looks on their faces, as they had never heard such a venomous tone coming from their sister.
Yori swam up to Bonnie staring at her with stern eyes. "Sister, be nice. While it is an unusual situation, I for one am glad that something positive has come from it & I believe it is best to not do anything to endanger it. For it might also endanger our sister. So watch your words."
The brunette beauty looked away. "I'm sorry." She apologized looked away. Bonnie felt that her sister being friends with a human was way off.
As for Yori, she felt it was her duty to make sure that things progressed well since her sister's well-being was on the line. As for Ron himself, he would have to prove himself to her.
'Beep, dee, eep'
Suddenly a strange noise filled the room, breaking the tension & making the royal sister wonder where it was coming from. They quickly saw that it came from the purse that Kim had, said mermaid opening it and taking out the special shell. It opened up, and an image of Ron appeared! This did startle the mermaids as it was still early in the morning to be called like so, and seeing the face of the human prince did get some reactions.
Tara and Zita silently giggled, finding the face and expression of Prince Stoppable goofy but not in a bad way.
Monique and Yori smiled, both seeing that Ron was genuine and fine person.
Bonnie merely scowled and looked away, the mere sight of the human raising her hackles like so.
Kim looked at the projection screen and sported a large and wonderful smile on her face that her sisters had seen many times in the past, but yet they could see something was different about it. A special kind of glow that was never there before.
"Hey Kim!" Ron called out. "Good morning! Good to see you're up!"
The orange-haired mermaid smile lit up a bit more. "Good morning Ron! Good to see you as well!"
Kim's sisters except Bonnie giggled as they found Ron's voice also amusing.
"So are you ready to meet again?" Ron asked happily. "I really want to spend more time with you!" He was quite excited like a young child on his birthday, which amused the mermaids in the room except for Bonnie.
Kim soon ceased her giggling. "Sorry Ron, but not yet." She said apologetically. "I need to have breakfast first with family, and then I have lessons. Since we are both royalty, I assume you have them as well."
The prince's face morphed to that of disappointment, a pout on his face that made Yori and Tara giggle softly it looked quite amusing to them.
"Awww, man, you're right." Ron conceded reluctantly. "To be honest though, rather be with you than at boring lessons."
The mermaid princess mentally agreed with him on that, but she believed in duty and helping her kingdom first. Her parents had instilled into her and her siblings on what it meant to be a prince/princess, which was duty to the kingdom and looking out for the welfare of the its citizens.
Kim spoke once more, "But I bet we can see each other this afternoon after our lessons are done! How about that?" This have Ron's face morph from mopey to bright, the mermaids a bit surprised to see him shift moods so quickly like so.
Zita swam around to be behind Kim, making sure she was visible to the one on the other end of the magical connection. "Hey human!" She said with a wave.
Ron's eyes widen in surprise. "Hi, uh… who are you?"
"I'm Zita, one of Kim's sisters." Zita told the human.
This seemed to satisfy the human, but he soon gained a mixture of curiousness and surprise on his face. Kim had learned to read facial features, so she had a good assumption on what was on his mind. She looked at her sisters and gestured.
"Sisters, come, Ron wants to see you."
The royal sisters complied, except Bonnie.
"This is Tara." Kim said, gesturing to her blond sister. "This is Monique." Gesturing the brown skinned black haired mermaid. "This is Yori." Gesturing to her elder sister." Kim then noticed that Bonnie was scowling and deliberately out of view of her communication shell.
"Bonnie, come so Ron can see you." Kim coaxed her brunette."
"No." Bonnie stated defiantly.
"Bonnie, don't be stubborn." Tara told her sister, gesturing her to swim-over.
Bonnie pouted and complied, glowing at Ron.
"Well, nice to meet you all!" Ron told the royal sisters. "Your sister Kim is awesome!"
Bonnie crossed her arms under her chest. "Yeah, wonderful."
"Everyone." Yori spoke up in a calm yet firm tone, "while this exchange is enjoyable, our parents are expecting us at the Dining Table. We must not keep them waiting longer than necessary."
Kim looked back to her human friend. "Yori is right. Ron, I have to go. I will talk to you later, okay?"
The human prince nodded his head. "I will see you later than! Bye!" The magic screen closed and his head vanished, indicating that the connection was now cut.
Okay sisters, let us go." Yori reminded her siblings. "Our parents await us."
The Possible sisters nodded, following the eldest of them but soon making conversations concerning the young human they had met over the magical connection.
Tara and Monique giggled at the choice of language he used, and how funny certain aspects of his face looked to them. It was not in a malicious manner, but more along the lines of good-natured gossip. However, Zita and Yori were wondering if Ron was truly a good match for their sister.
In addition, Bonnie… she just had a scowl on the entire time, remaining silent throughout the short journey to the Dining Table. After passing through several corridors, and greeting servants along the way, they soon arrived at their destination. At the table was their parents, and the twin boys Jim and Tim, the four already seated in their places.
"Good morning girls." James said, eying his daughters curiously. "What took you so long? Usually you are already here?"
Bonnie sat in her usual seat, frowning. "Kim got a call from her boyfriend." She stated irritably.
"Ron is not my boyfriend Bonnie!" Kim retorted, her face blushed almost as brightly as her hair.
This got some giggling from the sisters, and some laughter from the twins. Even Ann giggled softly, covering her mouth with her left hand as she found Kim's reaction so adorable.
However, James had a scowl on his face, showing that he was now in Protective-Dad mode. The King of Middleton was not too keen at all that Kim had made friends with a human, but he was drawing the line when it came to calling him 'boyfriend'.
He cleared his throat, getting the attention of his family & the group settled down at seeing the look upon his face. James looked to his daughter and stated firmly, "Kim, I like you and Ron to prioritize your communications."
"What do you mean Dad?" Kim asked uneasily.
James sighed and explained, "I mean you can't use a shell communicator twenty four hours a day. You and Ron need to come up with a suitable schedule to talk to one another."
His wife nodded her head. "Your father is right dear. You have many responsibilities to tend to, and learn. Too many distractions is quite hazardous for your training, so it would be wise to schedule your talks with Ronald."
Normally, many teens would pout and try to say something to defend their actions. But Kim was wiser since her experience with the Sea Witch, and she went over her parents' words. She soon realized that they were right; too many distractions would pull her mind in many directions, thus causing confusion that would hinder her actions in learning on how to be a responsible princess. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but it was she needed.
She looked to her parents. "Yes Dad, Mom. I'll see on what I can do."
Just after she spoke those words, her purse glowed softly and a beeping sound was heard. This caused the parents and twins to see where it was coming from, seeing the purse that Kim had on her. Jim and Tim smirked in a teasing way that brothers do when their sibling is in trouble. Ann and James not looking amused.
Monique chuckled softly, "Excellent timing." She commented dryly.
This had Kim scowl at her, but none could find the fault in Monique's words at this particular moment.
James sighed irritably. "Go ahead and take it Kim, but you need to tell Ronald about your responsibilities and lessons."
Kim nodded her head, opening her purse and fishing out the seashell. She opened it, the magical connection established and Ron's head appeared for all to see. Jim and Tim were fascinated by this, and amused to see such a goofy-looking human.
Ron called out, "Hey KP! What's up?"
The orange-haired mermaid sighed and answered in a tone that was mildly annoyed, "Ron, I was about to have breakfast. And we just spoke a moment ago, so why calling again so soon?"
The prince just smiled. "I just wanted to check up on my best friend, that's all!" He told Kim honestly.
This did make the young princess smile that he considered her his best friend, but seeing the firm look from her father made her remember what she had to do. She looked to the image. "That's great Ron, but…" She sighed. "…we really need to schedule our time when we talk to one another."
"What do you mean, Kim?" Ron asked.
"We both have responsibilities and lessons Ron and we can't be talking every minute of the day." Kim explained unhappily.
"Awww, man." Ron complained unhappily.
It'll be alright Ron." Kim reassured him in a soft tone, "We are friends after all, and we can handle a bit of time. Just have to schedule it out, that's all."
That seemed to lighten his mood a little once he realized that she had a point there. "Ok KP. I hope that we can still meet this afternoon."
The Possible princess replied in a positive tone, "Absolutely!" The Possible Princess said positively. "Just be patient Ron, if you please."
Said human prince nodded his head, though it was clear to see that patience was not his strong suit. He replied, "Okay Kim. Love you! Bye!"
She spoke back, "Love you too Ron! See you soon!" Kim closed the shell, terminating the connection and looked up to see her entire family looking at her with various emotions shown on their faces.
Most of her sisters had smirks on their faces except Bonnie who had a scowl on hers. Ann seemed amused while Jim & Tim had teasing smiles on their faces. But James… he did not look pleased or amused by it.
"What?" Kim asked, bothered by everyone's stars. "Why are you all looking at me like that?"
Tim was the first one to answer. "Love you too Ron!" He said, making a silly kissy face and doing a mock-up of Kim's voice.
Jim joined in, doing the same thing and speaking out in a teasing/mocking tone of his sister, "Yeah, love you Ron!"
This made most of their sisters, and also their mother, giggle at the teasing mocking there. James scowl seemed to deepen a little, showing his displeasure.
"Stop it squeebs!" Kim snapped, her face turned red in anger and embarrassment.
Ann managed to get herself back under control and spoke in a motherly yet authoritative tone, "Alright, that's enough! Boys, stop teasing your sister now!"
Yes Mom." The twins said dutifully.
"Now then children, can we all sit quietly and have our breakfast now?" James asked in a strained voice.
It was quite clear that the Sea King was restraining himself from the displeasure he was feeling that was more aimed at the relationship between his precious daughter and a human prince that he still believed was not suitable for her.
"Lets all say grace." Ann told them.
The Possible family complied. Then they began eating though the mood was still tension.
~At the surface~
While all of this was going on under the sea, on the surface at the Stoppable kingdom, Ron was also at the dining table with his parents with Regent Barkin also in attendance. The young prince was refilling his plate with delicious-looking food, his best friend & animal companion Rufus eating from a bowl by his side. It seemed he was quite eager judging by the look on his face, and his parents hoped to instill some decorum/etiquette into their son when it came to table manners.
King Stoppable looked to his beloved wife who looked to have similar thoughts inside her own head concerning their own flesh and blood. The king then turned his attention to his son.
"So you are going to see your mermaid friend today, my boy?" He asked.
Ron swallowed some of his food, looking to his father before answering. "Yes sir! Absolutely!"
Rufus looked up from his bowl, giving the king thumbs up before resuming eating. Many were still surprised on how intelligent the naked mole rat was like so.
"Remember not to swim right after eating." Queen Stoppable put forth in a concerned tone. She had seen first-hand on the dangers of swimming shortly after eating, which was developing cramps in the muscles that would be painful and dangerous for someone who was swimming in deep waters.
"Don't worry Mom." Ron answered back. "I'll meet her in a few hours after lunch."
This pleased the Queen as she resumed eating her food, though she still looked a bit concerned for her son's well-being. After a few moments of silence, she believed that some conversation was still needed.
"So tell us about your girlfriend. How is she doing?" She asked.
Ron choked on his food from the question, Rufus going to help his friend/master. He did so by smacking him hard in the head, which helped to get the food in his throat, go down into his stomach. The human coughed a little, then looked to his friend in gratitude and thanked him. Rufus held up his left forepaw up with thumbs up, which indicated he was glad to help.
"Mom! The young man exclaimed. "Kim is just a friend! I mean yes, she's pretty, and it's so cool that she's a mermaid, but she is only my friend!"
The King and Queen raised an eyebrow at their only son, assuming rightly that their son had feelings for the mermaid princess. They could only hope it would grow, but into something, more… was it possible.
Regent Barkin finished his meal, wiping his mouth with his napkin and looking to the royal parents. "Excuse me, your Highnesses. I think young Stoppable must finish breakfast and start on his schooling."
Ron groaned at the mention of the lessons that he would have to take now, Rufus glaring at the tall broad human. Like most young teenagers, Ron did not like hitting the books.
"Quite right Steven." King Stoppable agreed. "I have my own responsibilities to attend to, and I believe it is time that Ronald learn them as well."
"One of the perks of being royal." Ron murmured and soon finished his plate. "May I be excused?" He asked.
"You may." His father answered.
Ron looking to Rufus and offering his hand to him. The little rodent scampered on and allowed his owner/friend to put him in his right-side pouch. He then looked to his parents. "I'll be in my classroom."
Young Ronald walked away from the table, Barkin standing up to give his own plate to a maid that was nearby, who took it with a small bow and going to pick up Ron's and Rufus's own dishes before departing to the kitchen. King Stoppable looked at his son as he left, his wife swallowing some of her food and gazed at her husband. She inquired with concern in her tone, "Dear, are you alright?"
This startled the king slightly from his thoughts, turning to his better half and answering, "I'm fine dear. It is just that…well our son is growing up. He already has a young woman on his mind, and it seems that he is getting a bit better when it comes to going to his studies."
Queen Stoppable smiled warmly. "Yes. Our son is becoming a man."
Barkin voiced his thoughts on the matter with a slightly sour look on his face, "Yet he has the attention of a child."
Seeing the King and Queen looking at him, a bit unnerved by the description the Regent had just given to their son. Barkin looked at them and did a small bow and said, "My apologies your Highnesses, I spoke out of turn."
King Stoppable spoke up, "It is okay, Barkin. You are allowed to give your thoughts on the matter. And yes, Ron is… certainly different from me in some aspects. But he is growing up and needs to learn responsibilities."
The Regent sighed in relief. "Thank you my Lord. And yes, he is different and likes to test… my patience at the very least. Well, I better go and start my tutoring of him. Farewell and have a good day, your Graces."
He then turned to leave the Dining Room, leaving the royal ones alone. The two started to talk about what was on the agenda for today, then the royal clock that was outside chimed the time. King Stoppable rose from his seat, his wife following suit.
"Well dear, time for us to see what we can do to help keep the kingdom running. Are you ready?" King Stoppable told his wife.
She nodded her head and followed at the side of her husband. As they walked out of the room, leaving the servants to clean up, she was now in deep thought. 'Kim seems nice. Ron seems to like her a lot. But can they possibly be together?'
~Under the Sea~
Far from the kingdom of Middleton in the great wilderness away from the prying eyes of the citizens of said kingdom, was DNAmy's old cave. Inside it, Drakken was sleeping on a makeshift bed of seaweed in one area. Monty was sleeping in another corner, and Shego was resting in another.
Shego was the first to stir awake, yawning as she slowly rose up and did some stretching to work the kinks out of her body.
She saw the two mermen, Drakken and Monty sleeping in their makeshift beds and scowled at them. "Boys." She muttered irritably.
The mermaid went over to a shelf that was in the corner of the cave, pulling from it a bowl of vegetation, a bottle with some small fishes in it, and one with an eel. She set the items down on a table, then returned to the shelves, and rummaged through some clutter brought forth a wand and a plate that was about as clean as one could get.
Shego set the items down on the plate, then used the magic wand that started to glow a faint green color. The ingredients soon swirled together and changed into a paste of some kind, which settled back down on the plate. Once it was complete, Shego took a nearby shell and started to scoop up the paste, eating it down though it seemed that the taste did not agree with her.
Monty was the second to awaken. He stretched his body to also get the kinks out of it. Hearing some movement behind him and turning around to see his female roommate eating.
"I see that you are awake." He stated with a certain roughness in his voice.
Shego scoffed. "Good morning to you too." She replied sarcastically. "I take it you're still going to try and replicate DNAmy's magical work?"
"Of course." The elderly merman answered in a condescending tone. 'When I have mastered her magic arts, I will be the master."
Shego rolled her eyes. "Whatever." She replied sardonically.
The final one to awaken was Drakken. "Hey! I'm trying to sleep here!" He complained.
Shego rolled her eyes at the merman while Monty shaking his head in irritation. "It's already morning, you buffoon." Monty retorted.
This only made Drakken groan more irritably as he rose up from his bed. Monty already moving as he went to the shelf to see if there was any kind of sustenance for him.
Drakken scratched the inside of his left ear while Shego wondering what did she do to deserve being around such incompetent fools.
Once she was done with her meal, she swam up from her seat, scowling at her two roommates. "I'll be out." She turned with a flip of her green fish tail.
Drakken saw her swimming away into the open sea, sighing and going to the shelf to see if there was anything left for him. Monty was already making his meal, and the only thing Drakken saw for him was a container that had some chewy sticks that were of an unusual flavor. Seeing that there was nothing else there, he took one of the sticks and started to chew on it. He soon joined his compatriot over at the table, the sophisticated merman eating his meal.
Drakken looked at his food, than at the stick he was eating. It tasted bad, the grimaced look on his face saying it all. But seeing as there was not much else to eat, he finished it and made a sour face.
Once he was done, he swam up from his seat and towards a chest that was nearby. He opened it and started to take out some various items.
Monty looked up from his plate to see Drakken taking out the miscellaneous objects., "Trying another experiment?" He asked derisively.
"Naturally!" Drakken stated arrogantly as he put the items in a cauldron, "Now, to see if I can recreate that spell." He proceeded to mix the ingredients in the cauldron, but soon Monty noticed something.
"You shouldn't put the green coral before the blue one." He told the blue skinned merman.
I am the genius here! I know what I am doing!" Drakken declared defiantly.
He mixed the items together in the cauldron, the items melting due to the self-heating magical spell that he put into it. However… the result was a strong explosion of magic, a purple light flashing and a yelp made from Drakken! The merman pulled away from the object, his face covered in dark purple grime.
Monty glowered contemptuously. Tell me, were you trying to make a transformation mixture or a mystic explosion? Hmmm?" He asked in aggravated tone.
Drakken wiped his face clean from the residue and glared at Monty. "You think you can do better?!"
"I wouldn't know since you used up the last of the ingredients!" Monty declared shrilly. He grunted and then resumed eating.
Drakken grumbled, wanting to retort but had no comeback.
Having finished his breakfast, Monty swam to one of the corners of the cave and picked up a large shell basket. He looked to Drakken. "I'm off to get some new items for the experiments." He stated harshly, "And no, you can't use them." He then swam off, not wanting to be around such uncouth company for a second long then necessary.
The blue merman grunted. "Fine! See if I care!"
He then huffed and turned back to the chest to see if there was any more items, but it was as Monty stated, there was no more objects to utilize for magical experiments. There was a bottle of green slime, but even he could see that it was of little use without other ingredients to mix in.
Drakken did a loud huff of aggravation. "It seems I'll need to find some ingredients as well. And I won't share mine with that Sea Brain Know it all. Or Shego either!"
He soon found another large shell to use as a carrying case, swimming out to the open sea to find what he needed.
….
While the two merman swam away to find the items necessary for more magical experimentation, Shego was swimming through a coral reef, her arms at her sides, her long hair twirling in the sea, her tail flipping behind her. She then sat on a rock and sighed, eying her surroundings. Though the sight was beautiful, said beauty was lost to the mermaid.
Shego sighed softly, "What a day. To think that only a few days ago, we were slaves to that crazy Sea Witch."
Her mind then took her to the events of that fateful day.
~Flashback~
Shego swam as fast as her eel body would carry her, her black hair swirling as she streaked through the water. She saw Drakken and Monty laying on the seabed far off, unmoving.
"Drakken!" She exclaimed in surprise and concern. She swam toward Drakken's eel head, nudging it with her own since she did not have any arms. She continued to plead with him to wake up, in which he soon did.
Drakken finally managed to wake up, groaning and moaned out, "Ahhh… my aching everything…"
Monty was the next to awaken, the older eel also groaning in pain. Shego was about to say something, but something stopped her as she saw a green glow covering her body. It was not electricity, but magic! She saw the two males glowing as well, Drakken a blue color & Monty a black color.
There was a flash of light and when it died down… they noticed that something was different.
Shego saw that Monty and Drakken were mermen again! The duo were looking at one another in sheer surprises at the sudden change of bodies. And when they turned around, their eyes widened and jaws dropped a little in surprise.
The young lady looked at herself, and saw that she had arms once more, a human-midsection with a green top, and finally a mermaid tail! She raised her own arms, which was natural reflex that still surprised her, feeling her face and the features that were that of a human face. Finally, she felt the flowing locks of her long thick black hair.
Drakken was the first to speak. "S-Shego!" He exclaimed in surprise, "Is that really you?!"
"You're a mermaid again!" Monty exclaimed, equally shocked. "And we're mermen once more as well!".
Shego flexed her fingers experimentally, "I know. And to be honest, you two don't look bad yourselves."
The mermen flexed their own tails and limbs, still stunned that they were now what they once were before she had been transformed and pressed into service by the Sea Witch.
"But how is this possible?" Monty asked in mild surprise.
"That is a good question." Shego answered, "Do you think something happened to DNAmy?".
"I concur!" Monty agreed in a sophisticated manner. "Let us make haste to the Cave!"
"What about DNAmy?" Shego asked.
"Yeah, won't she be mad?" Drakken asked.
"Somehow I don't think she's around." Monty explains thoughtfully. "And assume she is alive, why hasn't she summoned us?"
Drakken and Shego glanced at each other. "He has a good point." Shego conceded.
"Fine." Drakken grumbled.
…
In DNAmy's lair, all three in front of the cauldron. Shego had managed to invoke the Orb of All-Seeing, a spell that like its namesake allowed the user to spy on anyone at any place. This is what gave DNAmy an advantage as she could use it to spy on others. The trio witnessed what had happened to DNAmy when she gained power, all up to when Prince Ronald had killed her by throwing the powerful trident right into the Sea Witch's belly!
Drakken and Shego were unnerved at seeing such a gruesome sight, though Monty had a cold & calculating look.
At seeing the sea where DNAmy fell turned red with her blood, the orb soon flashed in a purple light and was gone, indicating that the spell had done its duty.
Monty was the first to speak after witnessing such events that most likely would go down in both human and merpeople history, "So, she is dead. That would explain why we have our true forms now."
"And to think, it was a human buffoon that did her in." Drakken commented thoughtfully.
"Not much of a buffoon if he was able to do that to her." Shego adds thoughtfully. "I have to give the kid props at least for doing that to her."
Monty then gained look in his eyes that was of savage intelligence; crazed yet calculating as well. He looked to his cohorts. "Do you both realize what this means?" He asked.
"We're free!" Shego exclaimed joyfully. She then frowned at Monty. "But I bet you have something else in mind, right Monty?".
"WE can be the masters of the Forbidden Arts!" Monty declared arrogantly. "With DNAmy gone, we can use her knowledge for our own ends. We can even become rulers of the seven seas!"
"Oh yes! Count me in!" Drakken declared while rubbing his hands gleefully,
However, Shego was hesitant about the whole idea. "Look, this sounds good and all. But do any of you even know DNAmy's magic? I doubt she wrote any of her secrets down."
Monty waved a dismissive hand at the cynical mermaid. "We will use what we have. Now then, one of you go get me some materials from the shelf."
Drakken had an indignant look upon his face and exclaimed with heat in his tone, "You can't tell me what to do! I'm the genius here!"
This started an argument between the two men, one that was giving Shego a headache "Hey!" She interjected. "Look, we just got free. Why don't we just sleep on tonight? We'll work out whose boss tomorrow."
"I don't want too." Drakken whined, pouting like a child.
Monty sighed. "I suppose the young lady has a point. In the meantime, I'll be doing some research in DNAmy's work."
"As will I." Drakken stated.
They went over to the shelves, looking through DNAmy's various stuff.
Shego just sighed and swam away, her light mood from gaining freedom now gone & replaced with a sour one.
~End flashback~
Shego kept swimming, and then realized she had gone a considerable distant from the cave. For when she looked out to the open ocean, turning to her right to see the kingdom of Middleton. It was a great distance away to be sure, but the castle still visible, resembling tiny spires.
She sighed. "Look at me. I had my freedom, I could have just gone and find a new life. But no… I'm now living in a cave with two idiot mermen with delusions of grandeur."
She then swam to the seabed and sat down, her long hair swirled around her. She sighed again. "It's not like I can go anywhere anyway. I'm a criminal in Middleton, and I don't exactly have the resources to make it on my own."
She knew there were certain options in order to make a living… but she adamantly refused to even go down that line of thinking, as she had too much respect for herself to even consider those kinds of options.
The green-skinned mermaid sighed once more. "Better scavenge some food first. It's not like I can expect D and M to get real supplies for all of us."
She knew that they would most likely get things that would be used for magical experiments, not paying any mind to necessities like food and such. She took one last longing look at Middleton before swimming away, flicking her tail behind her as she swam into the open wilderness to find anything edible to stockpile.

To Be Continue
…
Well I hope you liked what I have done thus far.
When I was writing my Kim and Ron's continuation, I considered doing other subplots.
One, I did ponder what would happen to Monty, Drakken and Shego after DNAmy's death. I considered having them fade into obscurity, but ultimately settled with them becoming antagonists in the future. Wait to see what I plan in future chapters.
Two, I have some plans for the rest of Kim's family. Hope you like what has to come.
Three, as for Kim and Ron's relationship, I had to rewrite the prime plot lots and many, many times, to make their relationship feel organic, not perfect, but not excessively negative.
Four, please review.
