It's a world of a difference between who you are and who you want to be. Sometimes we put on a front, sometimes we pretend to be something we're not, sometimes we even fool ourselves playing pretend only to realize the truth later on.

When Emily Prentiss was running for president, she knew one thing. That she wanted the best by her side. And the best was Jennifer Jareau. Jennifer, or more commonly known as JJ, came highly recommended and was known for being one of the best secretaries/assistants around. Sure she may have a small secret crush on her but she needed the best and the best was JJ. So that's what led her to the situation she was in now having her crush work for her.

JJ being the person she was, she could never say no. She was a people pleaser. So when Emily came and asked her to join her team she of course said yes. It didn't matter that she secretly had a crush on her, she would do anything to make her happy. So that's what led her to the current situation of having a crush on her boss.

They each secretly thought to themselves "So what, it doesn't matter. It's just a silly little crush right? Right. Sure we can work together and remain professional."

Years before Emily's POV

When Emily was governor of the state she had to attend these lunch ins with other governors every few months. Which is when she first met JJ.

JJ was a secretary to one of the other governors. Governor Aaron Hotchner. He often bragged about JJ and Emily had heard she had a good reputation but she had never met her until now. It was the briefest of interactions but it still stuck with Emily.

She could hear the clicking of heels coming before she could see anything. And that's when Emily looked up and saw her. Jennifer Jareaus's beauty stole Emily's attention almost instantly. Her long blonde hair was swishing side to side with each step she took. Her aura alone was enough to turn Emily on. Jennifer carried herself like a boss who meant business and was on a mission. When she got closer that's when Emily noticer her sparkling blue eyes. They were like the ocean, something one could stare into and get lost in forever. Emily watched her lean down and whisper something in Hotch's ear. She couldn't help the way her stare remained fixed on the way Jennifer's lips moved, she was mesmerized. It wasn't until Hotch cleared his throat and stood up that she seemed to snap out of her trance.

"This is my secretary Jennifer Jareau" He motioned to her "If you excuse me I have to go take this call"

"I actually just go by JJ. Pleasure to meet you all" JJ said with a polite smile as she went around the table shaking everybody's hand. When it was Emily's turn that's when she noticed her hands. JJ had these hands that were so girly and delicate and when she noticed them, it was so soft.

She gave her a big smile "Emily Prentiss. I've heard alot of good things about you"

This got JJ to smile a genuine smile and let out a little chuckle. Emily could swear she would have fell to her knees if she wasn't in front of a bunch of suits.

"Thank you! It was nice meeting you all" JJ said as she went to leave only to glance down and realize her hand was still being held by Emily.

"Um Governor Prentiss, my hand please"

"OH! Yea of course sorry" Emily quickly said pulling her hand back. Emily took a deep breath trying to regain her composure and watched her walk away. She thought to herself "She's just a really pretty girl. You'll never see her again. Get over it" Emily shook her head to clear her thoughts and tried to focus back on her meeting.

JJ's POV

I hated interrupting Gov. Hotch when he was in his meetings but sometimes I just had no choice. Meeting high profile people wasn't anything new but today it was just different. Gov. Prentiss was there. Sure I had seen pictures of her out in public but I never had the chance to meet her in person. Walking up to get Hotch, I saw her sitting across from him. And let's just say the pictures did not do her justice at all. She was even more beautiful in person if that was even possible. I kept my confident facade plastered on my face, after all you got to fake it till you make it. After I relay the message to Hotch, he stands up and quickly introduces me before he walks off. I give them a polite smile and shake their hands.

Unlike the rest of the men at the table who just sat there when she shook their hands, Emily stood up and she was thankful for it. JJ took the opportunity to quickly check her out. She wore a fitted suit and she just looked so hot in it. Checking her out from the bottom up when she finally reached Emily's face she noticed that she had this gorgeous big smile. She knew then that anytime she would be around her she would do whatever she could to see that smile again. She noticed Emily had a good grip which was a good thing and now she's getting turned on thinking about hand grips. God what was wrong with her? She needed to get herself together. She addressed everybody saying goodbye. She was going to leave until she noticed Emily still had that grip on her hand. She tried to excuse herself from it without making a fool of herself. She walked away knowing the thoughts of Governor Prentiss would still linger in her mind but she was Governor so they would just have to be fantasies.

Current Time

"JJ how was the first day? You settle in okay?"

"Yes ma'am, Madam President. The previous secretary showed me the ropes before she left."

"Ha if only the previous President did the same"

"I take it, it didn't go too well today?"

"Eh about as well as running a whole country can go. Why don't you take the rest of the night off and head home early tonight?"

"Are you sure Madam President? I would hate to leave in case you need something"

"I'm sure. I'm going to try to turn in early myself"

"Okay ma'am if your sure"

"I am" She said as turned to walk away only to stop and turn around "Oh and JJ?"

"Ma'am?"

"You don't have to call me ma'am and Madam President. It's just us."

"Yes ma'am. I'm sorry, uh yea sure anything you want Emily"

"Thanks JJ now go home have a good night"

"Thanks you have a good night too Madam President"

Emily shook her head with a smirk on her face as she walked away catching the Madam President part again. She needed to get her secretary to stop calling her ma'am and Madam President it was doing things to her, very unprofessional things. She needed to get ahold of herself and quick.
