Chapter 1
'Wake up, Potter!'
'Go away,' Harry mumbles against his pillow.
The curtains were pulled aside and suddenly Harry was bathing in bright light. 'Time to get up, you incompetent, fool!'
Harry ignored the voice and turned around. He had a rough night. His headace was proof of that. Suddenly he was shoved out of bed and landed in a heap on the floor. 'Oof.'
He slowly got up on his hands and knees and glared at the ghost of the man he hated most. 'A simple goodmorning was good enough, Snape!' Harry spat, he grabbed his glasses and slowly got up on his feet. His stomach turned over and he quickly ran to the toilet to empty his stomach.
'Busy night, Potter?' Snape hovered over him, not taking pitty.
'Busy life, you mean,' Harry wiped his mouth and groaned when the head ache became to much.
'I can see that,' Snape glanced at the empty bottles on the floor. 'How much have you had?'
'Not enough,' Harry grumled, getting up, slowly walking over to the fridge to find something to eat. Now that his stomach was empty he was starving. He couldn't even remember the last time he'd ate something. He opened the fridge and find it's empty.
Except for one bottle of beer. O well, it should do. He grabbed the bottle, opened it and drank. He ignored the disapproving look on Snape's face and sat down on the couch.
'So this is how The Great Boy Who Lived, the Only One who could destroy Voldemort decides to spend his days? Drinking? Is there a day that you aren't drunk, Potter?' sneered Snape.
'If there was, I can't remember. That day must've suck,' Harry took another sip from the bottle.
'If only people could see the Chosen One now,' Snape scoffed.
Harry sighed. 'Don't you have somewhere else to be, Snape? You've been following me for five years now. Don't you think it's time to move on?'
Snape quirked a eyebrow.
'You know, go to the light or in your case to hell?' Harry smiled sweetly.
'You know I can't. I made a promise.'
'To Albus or my mother? Albus is dead, Snape. My mother never loved you. She loved my father. She always has and always will be. That must suck doesn't it?'
Snape's eyes turned dark. 'Indeed, it sucked. I can't move on, Potter. Not till the Dark Lord is defeated.'
'Well, goodluck with that one.' Harry leaned back and took another sip.
'You are the only one who can do that.'
Harry snorted. 'I've tried. And I've failed.'
'Yes yes, we'll know about that tragedy. You've just given up, Potter. Like the weakling I always thought you are. What I don't understand is why?' Suddenly Snape was hovering over Harry and looking intently at him. As if he was trying to look into his mind.
Harry wondered if ghosts can do that. Snape was always good in Ilglemence. He averted his eyes just in case.
'Aha. Is it still the noble reason that you don't fight back because you want to protect your friends, isn't it?' Snape sneered. Harry refused to answer. 'I've never understood your obsession with that useless group of people, Potter but now is not the time to think about them. You need to fullfil what you're born to do.'
'I can't, Snape. If Voldemort finds out where I am he uses my friends…'
'Who says that your friends are still so loyal to you, Potter?'
'What do you mean?'
Snape disappeared and appeared a minute later with the Daily Prophet. 'Read.' He turned the page and threw the paper on Harry's lap.
It took a few minutes for Harry to concentrate, his mind was still foggy due to the alcohol in his system. His heart stopped for a moment when he stared at the face of the woman he once loved. He hasn't seen Ginny in twelve years but he would recognize her everywhere.
She was older, same red hair and fiercy brown eyes. She was even more beautiful than he could remember. She's wearing a green dress.
She was standing next to a man he also recognized. Blond hair, cold eyes and an arrogance smirk on his face. Draco Malfoy. He's also older but he still looked like a slimey ferret.
They're holding hands. Harry's stomach protested, he jumped up and was just in time to the bathroom to empty his stomach.
'What's wrong, Potter?' Snape sneered.
Harry glared at him but returned to the couch, took a deep breath en started reading.
The Malfoy's are celebrating their ten years of marraige by throwing a party at the famous and exclusive Dalaware club. Normally only the rich and famous are invited but this time Draco invites everyone. 'To be honest it is the idea of my brilliant wife, Ginny. Tell them baby.' The always beautiful looking Ginevra Malfoy obeys. 'I thought it was just a good idea to celebrate our love with everybody.' The party will be held within two weeks. We all know the rumors of those party's and this time we'll are invited. So don't miss it.
Harry throws the paper away, feeling worse than before reading the paper. Snape grins. 'What? Don't like it? They look happy.'
Harry just groaned, stood up, grabbed his robe en walked to the door.
'Where are you going? The bar isn't open yet.'
The door closed without a answer. Snape sighed. How was he going to motivate the boy to fight?
Xxx
Diagon Ally. O boy, how much things have changed around here. Harry couldn't remember the last time he was here. He spent most of his time in the human world. For his own safety. Wizards and witches were rushing through the streets to buy their supply's or get to work.
It's was a summerday but since Voldemort rules the wizzard world it's like any other day, dark en misty. No sunlight allowed.
Harry saw several Death Eaters walking around, keeping a eye out. Harry put his cloath tighter around him and made sure nobody could see his face. He was tired of the glamour spells he uses when he was in the wizzard world.
The air was cold. When a small breeze touched his hand he let out a deep sigh. He was home. Finally. He calmly walked past the stores, trying not to attract attention.
A small boy with dark hair stared at a piece of paper hanging on a wall. Harry knows what was on that piece of paper. They're everywhere. A girl joined the boy.
'Come on, Angus, mom will get mad if she sees us standing here.' She tried to pull the boy away but the boy didn't move.
'Why?'
'You know why, because of him' she whispers, pointing at the paper.
'Who is that?'
The girl looks annoyed. 'He's dangerous. An enemy of our Lord.'
Harry froze when he heard the girl talk. She couldn't be older than ten. And she spoke 'our Lord' out as if he was some kind of God. He wanted to correct her but suddenly a elderly woman appeared.
'Elinor, Agnus, what are you doing?'
'Agnus didn't want to move, mom, I'm sorry.' The girl said, glaring at her brother.
'Why-?' The woman looked up, her eyes widened when she saw the flyer. She grabbed her children. 'Let's go.' She pushed them further down the streets. Harry could hear the boy's protest.
Harry walked over to the flyer. He stared right at himself. Still young. As if time stood still. Big glasses, dark hair, the famous lightning scar. He was seventeen at that time.
The last time Voldemort has seen him.
Harry turned his back on the picture, he didn't want to think about Voldemort. His eyes fell on a little shop. "Neville's Plant shop.'
'Neville has a shop, no way!' Harry whispers and quickly made his way inside. The door rang when he opened it.
The shop was small en full of all kinds of plants. Some moved on their own en one even tried to bite Harry.
Someone was coming. Harry hold his breath. A moment later a chubby man appeared. Neville was a grown man now but he was definitelly Neville. Harry grinned.
Neville stared at him. 'Can I help you, sir?'
'Don't you remember me, Neville?'
Neville stared at hem like he's gone mad. 'No, never seen you before.'
Then Harry remembered he still wore a glamour spell, he quickly waves his wand and could feel the spell disappear.
Neville's jaw dropped to the floor. 'Harry?'
'The one and only.'
Neville let out a high squel and pulled him into a hug. 'I can't believe it. You're still alive.'
'Barely. Neville, you're choking me.'
Neville quickly let go. 'Sorry. I'm just so exited. I…' His eyes wondered to something behind Harry, before Harry could move, he grabbed his arm en shoved him in the backroom. 'Be quiet.'
Harry stared at his surroundings. Neville has shoved him into a small room with brooms en cleaning supply's. He heard the door open.
A womans voice annoyed: 'You can go, Marcel. I don't need supervising here. Wait outside! Now!'
The voice sounds familiar and Harry pushed the door a little bit open so he could see. What he saw took his breath away.
It was Ginny. She looked angry at the man leaving the shop. The door closet behind the man and Ginny let out a breath of relieve.
'He won't let me alone since the announcement of that stupid ball. Draco's orders. He's scared I'll disappear or something.'
She looked at Neville and smiled. Harry's heart skipped a beat. She really still looked beautiful. For a moment he considered jumping out of the closet. How would she react? Would she be angry? Happy? Of would she just fall into his arms?
'How are you, Neville?' Ginny hugged him.
'Surviving,' Neville said.
'Just like all of us. How's Luna doing?'
'Fine. The little one is growing fast. Only a few weeks to go and I'm gonna be a daddy.'
Harry listened closely and couldn't believe his ears. Neville and Luna are having a baby?
'I'm happy for you two,' Ginny smiled. 'How is Ron? Have you heard anything from him?'
Neville looks sad.
'Still no change?'
'He's still… the same.'
Ginny swallowed. 'I wish I could do more. But this is the best I can do for them.'
'They misses you, your family,' Neville said sofetly. 'Your mom…'
'Sssh,' Ginny shushed him with her hand. 'Don't, Neville. It's not safe. I gotta go. I see you at the party?'
Neville nodded sadly. 'I'll see you there.'
The door opened en closed and Ginny was gone. Harry was already at the door before Neville could say anything but he stopped and watched as Ginny shoved the hands of her companion of her arm. She turned the corner and was out of sight.
Neville looked nervous. 'I had to hide you, Harry. She is married to..'
'Draco,' Harry said coldly.
'Yes. Well. Maybe… you should talk to her. In secret.'
'Why should I?' Harry turned to Neville. Daring him to speak. 'She made her choice.'
'It's not that easy, Harry.'
'What about you and Luna?' Harry quickly changed the subject.
Neville blushed. 'It just kinda happened. After the war… everything looked so dark. Except for Luna. She's still so optimistic. I fell for her. We're married for six year. She's pregnant.'
'Congrats.'
'Thank you.'
A awkward silence.
'What about Ron?' Harry asked. 'Ginny asked for him? How are he and Hermoine doing?' He looked directly at Neville.
Neville looked sad. 'Haven't you heard?'
'Heard what?'
'Hermoine is dead, Harry. She died six years ago. Killed by Death Eaters.'
Harry stumbled backwards as if someone punched him in the chest. He could hardly breathe as he thought about his old friend. The smartest witch he'd even known.
'Ron.. he's… he's a mess ever since,' Neville said softly. 'You wouldn't recognize him if you see him, Harry. He's .. broken.'
'Where is she burried?' Harry asked.
'She isn't. Harry. After the Death Eaters were finished there was nothing left to bury.'
Harry turned around and left the shop. Neville followed. 'Harry, where are you going?'
But Harry disappeared with a loud CRACK, leaving Neville alone in the foggy mist.
