Issue #0: New Game New Mutant
"Where am I?" A young man asked himself as he woke up and suddenly found himself inside of a bizarre and unfortunate situation. This young man is inside of a jail cell made of steel and from behind the bars he saw several armed soldiers in tactical body armor patrolling the halls along with other cells lining the walls which held crying and scared teens and children.
The place sure as hell wasn't juvey and this young man could somehow sense the despair and overwhelming emotions of his fellow teens which brought him down to his knees due to the foreign sensation of having so many negative emotions influencing him mind.
So much fear, anger and despair were pouring into his mind without end before a noise sounded off in his ears, which caused the young man to look up and see an amber tinted videogame screen appear in front of his face.

"What the hell?" David asked himself as the screens he saw reminded him of his favorite fallout game known as Fallout New Vegas which was one of the things he remembered before all memories of his past life seemed to have faded away due to the memories of this world flooding his mind.
David recalled living his life in the foster care system until he was kicked out for awakening his mutant ability to sense emotions, which caused him no end of headaches, migraines and awkwardness until he was suddenly knocked out while sleeping in a relatively clean homeless shelter.
The trait Players Mind started to take effect, and the drawbacks of his mutation started to lessen to a manageable degree, allowing him to take a deep breath and try to think about finding a way out of this situation.

David swallowed a lump of saliva in his mouth as he looked on at the screen that would have been more fitting in an actual videogame or a fanfiction. Real life didn't have a main story or anything, so does this reincarnation power know something that he doesn't? If so, then what dangers were waiting for him and how could he possibly face them when he was struggling to keep his sanity inside of a jail cell with the emotions of other people flooding his mind?
Once again, his Players Mind trait activated, and David took a few breaths to calm himself before he started pacing around his jail cell to help try and think of a possible plan.
"I'm getting the hell out of here and I'm not a big enough dick to abandon these other mutants. So, how can I get myself and these other people out of wherever this place is?" David whispered to himself to avoid any guard overhearing him before the entire complex suddenly shook violently and alarms started going off.
[The main quest [Survive the prologue] has been updated due to recent events.]
David ignored the message and saw the guards in the hall preparing their weapons and started rushing out, which served as the perfect time for David to somehow escape the cell without getting shot.
He rushed to the bars and despite how cool he thought he could be. He didn't magically summon up a skill that can break steel and free him. Instead, all he did was try and shake the bars hoping that something would happen.
"Damn it!" David cursed in anger before kicking one of the bars and another violent shake disturbed the hall and cells as parts of the ceiling started falling in the hallway. Thankfully not in the cells, so the children and teens were unharmed.
Then David hears the screams and sensed fear, panic and…Excitement?
"Is that all you got? I'm already getting bored fighting you lackies!" A loud woman shouted, causing David to look further down the hall and see a woman in a black leotard with yellow accents lining the suit as she has a steel katana in hand that she is using to currently stab a soldier through the chest as the sword glowed with purple energy.
David knew that symbol. The symbol that belongs to the superhero team known as the X-men and that woman was one of the members of the team known as Psylocke and she was a looker too if David said so himself, but he didn't let his hormones distract him from seeing his get out of jail free card as other X-men members emerged in the hall and started freeing the teens and kids.
The team consisted of Psylocke, Wolverine, Gambit, Beast, Emma Frost, and Storm.
"Everyone, remain calm. Your ordeal is at an end, and we are here to liberate you from this U-men bondage." Beast said calmly while messing around with some sort of wrist mounted computer on his right wrist and after a moment or two. All the cells opened and released the frightened teens and kids.
"Everyone, stick close and try not to fall behind." Emma said before the X-men started leading the group out of the U-men compound where David saw that they were in a mountain range type area along with seeing a new game screen appear.
[The trait [Players Mind] was not strong enough to resist the power of Emma Frost.]
Remain calm. Focus only on the X-men. You're safe now.
David felt his sense of wonder fade along with feeling safe and free while following the X-men despite knowing that these weren't his true thoughts and instead were commands given to him by a powerful telepath. But, given his options, David didn't say or do anything to resist the instructions and followed the crowd as everyone was able to step inside the X-jet located nearby as Storm took the wheel with Beast as the co-pilot.
Sleep.
The drowsiness came into effect instantaneously and David couldn't even find the strength to open his eyes before everything went dark and he was put to sleep.

Salem Center/Xavier's school for Gifted Youngsters
David woke up with aches from sleeping in a chair during the entire jet ride and could barely contain his annoyance while he and the other former prisoners were placed in the cafeteria and given food and water while some of the more…damaged survivors were taken to the medical office for various conditions.
David had been starved before getting kidnapped, so the free plate of food and water was more than welcoming to him and as a result he couldn't help but smile as he ate the burger, fries, brownie and juice. Hell, he ate the food so fast he nearly choked until he drunk his juice and that all happened before the principal of the school entered the cafeteria along with Emma Frost.
This man was seated in a wheelchair with an elegant looking suit on along with a bald head and he seemed rather nice and welcoming. David knew this man as the one and only Charles Xavier.
"Greetings everyone. You all have been through a horrible ordeal and as we speak, we are making contact with the authorities in order to reunite many of you with your families and for those without familial ties or proper homes, you are more then welcome to stay here at the school where you can learn to harness your gifts and become the best versions of yourselves. The choice is yours." Charles explained calmly and David couldn't help but be put at ease with the man's words.
It helped that he didn't use his mental gifts to convince anyone of anything along with the fact that Charles was a total GILF and frankly one of the only people that David is willing to give that title to.
The rest of the day was a mess in simple terms and during the day and late into the night. Several children were reunited with family or returned home while others left the mansion on their own. David was in the minority that chose to stay and enroll in the school of his own accord and was promptly shown to a boarding room that luckily didn't have any other student assigned to it and for the first time in a while he had a good night's sleep.

[You have gained the [Well Rested] perk.]
David woke up with a yawn after hearing the message sound off and as he sat up, he not only realized that he had slept in his torn-up clothes all night, but he had managed to finish his first quest.

Lesser Telepathy, Level: 1]
"Whoa." David said to himself as he felt something change within his mind as he was now slightly stronger in terms of psychic abilities and now had some telekinetic skills to back it up. He also noticed a suitcase along with a note in the middle of his room that he quickly grabbed.
[Dear: David.
Welcome to our school and as one of the more unfortunate children who has spent his life on the streets with no true home. That ends today because you are properly enrolled in Xavier's school for gifted youngsters. The logistics can be explained in greater detail at a later date, but for now, enjoy the free supplies and a change of clothes.
Sincerely: Vice Principal Frost.]
"Neat." David said with a smile before opening the suitcase and seeing some bathroom supplies along with a change of clothes and proper school supplies and materials.
David wasted no time going into his private bathroom to take a long hot shower with the new soaps he had been given before taking some time to look himself over in the mirror properly while clad in a simple towel wrapped around his waist.
Tall with light dark skin, brown eyes, black hair done in an oversized afro, and he was rather thin due to malnutrition and slight dehydration from his time wandering the streets.
"The hair has to go." David said to himself before he grabbed a pair of scissors from the bathroom counter and started to cut his hair down to a low style before he left the bathroom and finished drying off before putting on the new black T-shirt and tan khaki pants along with black dress socks and brown dress shoes.
Knock-Knock
"Who's at my door?" David asked while sensing a mixed bag of emotions from all the people within his sensing radius and it served to leave the guest a total mystery until he opened the door and saw none other than Jean Grey herself.
A beauty and she seemed to be near David's age.
"Hi, your David, right?"
"Yeah. How can I help you?" David asked with slight confusion.
"The principal wanted me to give you a tour of the school and help you acclimate to life here before the trainee squads are assembled." Jean explained, confusing David.
"Trainee squads?"
"Oh, sorry. I forgot that you wouldn't know anything about it since you just got here. So, many people are excited that it's hard to remember that the new influx of students isn't informed." Jean said with an awkward chuckle.
"No worries. But what are they?"
"They are a newly implemented training for future X-men candidates. People are excited but we can talk more about that during the tour." Jean said before she showed David around the massive school complex as well as introducing him to other mutants that he would later call his friends.
END!
A/N: Yeah, I thought about this for a while but the original system idea I had for this story wasn't going to work. I took inspiration from ESO but in the long run that type of game system wouldn't be sustainable to write with.
A simpler fallout/elder scrolls/pathfinder type of system is a lot easier to use. Hard stats that take effort to enhance, perks and traits that can be unlocked through various methods and so on.
Anyway, please fav, follow and review.
