In this sequel to "Worth Busted Knuckles," Nick worries about his wife's difficult pregnancy, Heath falls in love, and the brothers must reevaluate their relationships with one another. The kidnapping of a loved one instigated by somebody with an old grudge brings all our heroes to their knees. In the midst of the trauma, an unexpected romance (or two or three) develops.

Meanwhile a young Heath does his best to help his two aunts out, after his mother's passing, by getting a job in the mines. The same mines that might just kill him.

A new casino is slated to come to Stockton. Nick, Jarrod and Heath will all take their chances on love but adultery, witchcraft, deceit, intolerance, murder and gossip are the hands they are dealt.

A visiting relative helps Heath learn more about his family, his father, and forgiveness.

A few weeks after Season One's "The Brawlers," Heath is fed up with Nick's arrogance. Contrite Nick offers to leave home for six months, change his name, and go where no one knows him. He takes little money and dresses as a saddle tramp, intent on learning what it's like to live without money, without the Barkley name, and without his family to fall back on.

Just a little Barkley banter as Jarrod and the family recover from his period of blindness.

Seventeen-year-old Jarrod explains why he is going to war to four-year-old Audra. Then three years later, Nick has to explain the same thing to her. Then many years later, she remembers those times and talks to Heath about the same war, but also a war he's having with himself.

While riding up to Sacramento, Heath and Audra run into one of Heath's old friends, James. However, James isn't the boy Heath once knew, and he causes trouble when he kidnaps Audra.

Jarrod isn't the only one in the family who keeps secrets. When Victoria's long-protected secret comes to light, Jarrod must re-examine everything he believes about himself. Is he even the man he thought he was?

It's a difficult past Lucy Layton and the Barkleys - especially Nick and Jarrod - have to conquer to move forward.
