Chapter 6: Quetzalcargolus

The Trux continued their trek through the undiscovered jungle regions. "Ty, how much longer are we gonna continue driving like this? My treads are killing me." Dozer groaned. "As are mine, dude." Ton-Ton agreed. "Yes, Ty. If the Trux do not stop for a rest soon, they just might burn out their own treads." Revvit said. "Yeah, good idea, Rev. My treads need a break too." Ty said. The Trux stopped for a little rest as the Reptools examined their treads and Tailwind's propellors. "Well, there's no doubt that your treads are definitely exhausted from all the driving you've been doing all day." Waldo said. "And Tailwind's propellors are wicked hot. They need time to cool down." Xee said. "Well then, there's no better place to make camp than right here." Ty said. "Dropping load, dude!" Ton-Ton called, dropping his load.

Later, that night, the Trux and Tools successfully set up their camp, and settled down to a nice smore dinner. "Mmm! These are really good." Razor said, enjoying the taste. "Yeah. These smores are amazing." Tailwind said. Even Scrappy enjoyed the smores. "I think Scrappy loves them too, dude." Ton-Ton said. "Can't blame him. Probably tasted nothing but scrap before he joined up with us." Dozer said, eating a smore. "You know, I wasn't sure about adding these new ore ingredients, but the smores taste even better now." Ty said. "Yeah. And I think they really increased my taste buds." Garby said. Just then, Shredda yawned. "Well, I don't know about you Trux, but I'm gonna get some sleep." She said. "That sounds like an excellent idea, Shredda. We should all get some sleep before we continue on our jungle journey." Revvit said. "I like the sound of that." Ty said. The Trux and Tools all settled in as they fell asleep. Suddenly, the large shadow from before flew right over them.

The next morning, Ty woke up and scratched his tread on a nearby rock. "Good morning, every-" He started to say, but stopped when he noticed that something was wrong. Skya and Tailwind woke up, but Ton-Ton, Dozer, Garby, Shredda, Scrapy and the Tools were gone! "Where are the others?" Skya asked. "I don't know. They were right here when we fell asleep." Tailwind said. "How could this have happened while we were sleeping?" Ty asked. "I don't see any tread tracks on the ground. But…wait a minute. I think I see something in the distance." Skya said. "Tailwind, can you fly over there and check it out?" Ty asked. "I'm on it. I'll be back." Tailwind said as he took off.

Meanwhile, Dozer started waking up, feeling a strange breeze against his armor. "Brr! Someone cut down the forest?" He asked. Just then, he saw where they were. A giant nest! He let out a loud scream, which echoed across the whole jungle. "Nice of you to finally wake up, Dozer." Shredda said. "What happened?! How'd we end up here?!" Dozer exclaimed. "That's what we've been trying to figure out." Waldo said. "It's strange. This nest is way bigger than a Scrapadactyl's or a Dyscrapadon's." Revvit said. "Even I've never seen a nest this big during my travels." Xee said. "I think I might have. But I can't remember." Razor said. "Dude, how are we gonna get down from here?" Ton-Ton asked. "Spinz, can't you fly out of here and go get help?" Click-Clack asked. "I tried. The gale force winds surrounding the nest are just too strong for me." Spinz said. "Wait! Look up there!" Garby called, looking up. The trapped Trux and Tools looked up and saw Tailwind flying up towards them. "Tailwind!" Ace cheered. "How the heck did you guys end up in there?" Tailwind asked. "That's what we've been trying to figure out!" Dozer exclaimed. Suddenly, there was a loud screech in the air. "We've got company!" Click-Clack cired. Tailwind looked and saw a giant air Trux flying towards them.

Tailwind flew away as the giant air Trux started chasing him. "Now I know why this nest felt so familiar. It belonged to that! A Quetzalcargolus!" Razor cried. "An extremely large species of Trux, second only to the Giant Squidmarine! I've never seen one before!" Revvit exclaimed in awe. "Those things are bigger than any flying Trux ever! Big enough to carry up to half a dozen Trux in a single flight!" Xee exclaimed. "Well, now we know how we got up here. It must've picked us up while we were sleeping." Garby said. "So…HOW ARE WE GONNA MAKE IT TAKE US BACK?!" Dozer exclaimed. The Quetzalcargolus nearly caught Tailwind in its mouth. "Looks like this thing's super protective of its own nest! I can't get close enough!" Tailwind exclaimed. "It's too dangerous, Tailwind! Fly back and get Ty and Skya! We'll be alright!" Revvit called. "I hope you're right about this!" Tailwind exclaimed before flying off. The Quetzalcargolus didn't follow and just let out a screech before looking at its prisoners. "I don't like the way it's looking at us." Taziri said with worry.

Meanwhile, Tailwind returned to Ty and Skya, and told them about what happened. "A Quetzalcargolus? You're lucky to have gotten away." Ty said. "So, how are we supposed to rescue our friends without getting captured ourselves?" Skya asked. "One thing I noticed, is that that Quetzalcargolus is completely protective of its own nest. I couldn't even get close to it without nearly getting snapped at." Tailwind explained. "There must be a way we can build our way to the nest without getting snapped at by the Quetzalcargolus." Ty said. "Distract the Quetzalcargolus…" Skya continued. "While the remaining 2…" Tailwind continued. "Build a bridge…" Ty continued. "Sticking straight out to the nest…" Skya continued. "And rescue our friends!" The 3 finished simultaneously. "Whoa. Is this how it feels whenever you have these moments with Revvit, Ty?" Tailwind asked. "Sure is, Tailwind." Ty said. "Right. We better get to that nest." Skya said.

Later, as they arrived at the nest, they kept themselves hidden as they watched the Quetzalcargolus looking right at their friends. "I don't like the way it's looking at them." Ty said. "You think it's going to eat them?" Skya asked. "Not sure. Other than ore, I don't know what Quetzalcargoluses eat." Ty said. "Well, I don't wanna wait to find out." Skya said. "Me neither. You guys remember the plan?" Ty asked. "Right. I'll distract the Quetzalcargolus while you 2 construct that bridge as best as you can." Tailwind said. "If Dozer and I can create a swing to escape Shockarachnid Canyon, Ty and I can make a bridge to a Quetzalcargolus nest." Skya said. "Right. Time for takeoff!" Tailwind exclaimed as he took off.

Meanwhile, the Quetzalcargolus stared closely at its captives. "You don't think this thing's gonna eat us, do you?" Garby asked. "I am not sure. Quetzalcargoluses are known to eat ore, but I am not sure what else is in their particular diet." Revvit said with worry. "Guess we're about to find out." Dil said. But as the Quetzalcargolus opened its mouth and moved towards its prisoners, a boulder hit it in the head. "Hey, down there! Remember me?!" Tailwind called as he flew overhead. The Quetzalcargolus screeched as it took off and chased after Tailwind. Ty and Skya saw them leaving and saw their chance. "Let's Trux it up!" Ty exclaimed. He and Skya began knocking down a few trees, grouping them together. Skya hooked a few nearby vines and wrapped them tightly around the trees. The captured Trux and Tools looked over the nest and saw them working. "What are they doing?" Garby asked. "I think they're building something that'll help us get out of here." Revvit said. Ty gathered more trees as Skya got more vines to tie them tightly together. "Let's hope this is long enough." Skya said. "Well, here's hoping." Ty said. He grabbed the one end of the platform with his mouth and raised it up. Skya helped by using her hook to pull it up. And with a single move, they pushed it towards the nest and…reached it. "Boom! Did it." Ty said.

"Uh, not to be a boom buster, but I don't think this thing can support us all." Dozer said. "That's why I suggest that we Tools go first. We're smaller and lighter." Revvit said as he and the Tools went across the bridge first. "Well, we better hurry. I don't know how much longer Tailwind can keep that Quetzalcargolus occupied." Shredda said with worry. As the Tools reached Ty and Skya, Garby went next. "Take it nice and slow, gang. We don't want to risk the bridge shaking by going too fast." Ty said as Garby reached the bottom. Scrappy climbed into Ton-Ton's bed as they went down next. "Uh, guys? I think we might wanna hurry this up. Tailwind can't keep up his distraction for much longer." Skya said with worry. As Shredda went next, Dozer grew worried as Tailwind and the Quetzalcargolus started coming back around. "Oh, I can't wait anymore!" Dozer cried. "No! Dozer! Wait!" Ty called. But too late. Dozer drove out onto the bridge a little too fast, causing it to start shaking. "Dozer, you're going too fast!" Skya cried. But Dozer wouldn't listen. The bridge fell over, causing Dozer to start falling. "NO!" The Trux and Tools cried. But then, Tailwind flew by and snatched Dozer. "Need a lift?" He asked with a smile. They successfully landed on the other side and reunited with the others. "Whew! That was far too close." Dozer said. "We're glad you guys came when you did." Shredda said. "And clever way to build that bridge on your own like that." Garby said.

Just then, the Trux and Tools all looked over to the Quetzalcargolus, who had just landed back in its nest. "Dude, I wonder why that thing took us." Ton-Ton said. Suddenly, 4 little Quetzalcarglus heads popped out of the nest. "Those are baby Quetzalcargoluses." Xee said. "You know, I thought I was sitting on something that felt like an egg." Dozer said. "Huh. Guess the Quetzalcargolus took you guys to help her eggs hatch." Ty said. "You mean she wasn't gonna eat us after all?" Garby asked. The Trux and Tools looked back at the Quetzalcargolus as she and her young kept staring at them. Just then, the Quetzalcargolus bowed her head to them Trux. Ty bowed back, knowing that she was saying thank you. "Come on, guys." He said, driving off. The rest of the Trux and Tools followed, leaving the Quetzalcargoluses and her nest behind.

"Well, I'm glad we got away before those eggs hatched. Being a parent to Tortools was hard enough." Dozer said in relief. "I don't know, Dozer. I think you might've made a great parent to those Quetzalcargolus babies." Skya teased, making the others laugh. "Haha. Very funny, Skya. Very funny." Dozer said with sarcasm as they continued on their jungle journey.
