Randy fought against this unknown killer. One minute he was standing in the college quad, insulting Billy Loomis and Stu Macher. Then, without warning, he was dragged into the van. The shock took Randy by surprise, by the time he realized what was happening it was too late to put up much of a fight. Then, next thing he knew, Randy was on the floor of the local video store where he worked. Randy thought, is it possible that the whole stabbing incident was just a nightmare. It wouldn't be the first time he had such a nightmare. When you survive a massacre perpetuated by two friends, bad dreams are an unavoidable consequence. How did he get to the video store, it also wouldn't be the first time he fell asleep on the job. Surprisingly there was no one else here, and Randy usually fell asleep sitting on the chair, not the floor. This was unusual, Randy tried to get his bearings and walk outside, but he couldn't. It wasn't like walking into a brick wall, it didn't hurt, Randy just couldn't get outside. Then another thought occurred to Randy, maybe he did die in the van, maybe this was the afterlife. But was this Heaven or Hell? It was full of movies, many more than the video store had in real life, including many that Randy had tried in vain to find in real life. Spending eternity watching movies did seem like Randy's idea of Heaven. He commented "All I need now is some pizza and Pepsi." No sooner did he say this than there was a large pizza and a three liter bottle of Pepsi in front of him. Randy tested this theory a little more and said "And some McDonalds fries." Sure enough there were McDonalds fries next to the pizza. All the food he could ever want and eternity watching movies. Randy decided he was indeed in Heaven, and he was going to enjoy it.

.

Randy did enjoy this eternity, for awhile at least. But after awhile, it got boring. He was grateful that new movies arrived, suggesting that time still went on, but perhaps at a slower rate here. He eventually worked his way towards television shows, even those long believed lost like "Television Ghost." Randy worked his way through books, video games, comic books, puzzles. It wasn't that there was a shortage of ways to keep busy, but there was only so much to do, eventually he would run out of new material. He wasn't sure how much time had passed, the sun seemed to rise and set like normal days. He saw cars drive by, but they were probably just the scenery. And try as he might Randy couldn't get out. Among other things he had seen was a Twilight Zone episode where a small time crook dies in a robbery, and ends up in an afterlife where he got everything he wanted. Beautiful women, good liquor, winning all the time at gambling. He thought he was in Heaven, but eventually he was so bored he asked to got to Hell. Only then is he informed that he is in Hell. When Randy took stock of his life, he decided that maybe he did belong here. Hell might not be fire and brimstone, maybe that was just for nazies, slave traders, and serial killers. Randy wasn't as bad as that, but he wasn't exactly a humanitarian. He was lazy at his job, rude to the customers. Perhaps worst of all, he made a number of crude homophobic jokes. Even when Randy suspected that his little sister might be a lesbian, he still made these stupid jokes in front of her. He did not exactly create a safe space for her to come out. Randy heard that others who survived incidents like he did, massacres, some took stock of their life and tried to do better. But Randy did not, he didn't volunteer at a local soup kitchen, or join the big brother/big sister program, and he continued to make homophobic jokes in front of Martha. Randy regretted how he treated his sister more than anything else. At college, when the new killings started, Randy made a video. In case he didn't survive, and the killings began yet again, Randy wanted to give his friends one last chance to save themselves. But perhaps that wasn't enough to avoid this corner of Hell, but Randy took comfort in knowing that Billy and Stu were probably being tortured much worse than he was.

.

Based on how the new movies had accumulated, the most recent being Argo, Randy estimated he had been trapped here for 15 years. He had never seen another person, just the occasional cars driving by as part of the scenery. But then, a visitor found himself here in this video store. To Randy's great shock, it was Billy Loomis. Billy attacked Randy by instinct, but to both men's surprise Billy found himself unable to physically hurt Randy.

.

Randy: What the hell are you doing here?

Billy: I was kind of hoping you could tell me. One minute I'm being tortured and the next, here I am? Is this Heaven?

Randy: No, it's Blockbuster. Wow, I waited 15 years to say that line to someone. Seriously though I don't know. I've been here ever since your mother murdered me. About 15 years have passed on Earth, but time seems to move slower here.

Billy: Yeah, that checks out. I was tortured ever since I died. I always hoped that there was at least a time limit. That after I was made to suffer for all the bad things I did, I'd be free.

Randy: Well I guess this would be an upgrade from torture. Boredom is my biggest problem. I did hope for some eventual company. I never asked for you specifically, but I'll take what I can get.

Billy: Even though I tried to murder you, did murder your friends.

Randy: We've got all eternity to get past our issues.

Billy: Anything to eat around here?

Randy: What do you want more than anything?

Billy: Pizza and beer.

.

Sure enough a large pizza and a six pack of beer appeared.

.

Billy: You just wish for something and it comes?

Randy: Food and video games yes, Julia Roberts no.

Billy: Just checking. By the way it was just instinct just now, I wasn't trying to hurt you.

Randy: Really, because I haven't actually forgotten how you shot me.

Billy: Back then I was trying to kill you. Sorry about that.

Randy: We'll see how long it takes me to forgive you.

.

With all eternity of being stuck together Billy and Randy started to bond again. Billy got caught up on the movies he had missed since being stuck in Hell. The two of them argued over the increased representation of LGBT characters in movies and TV shows. Randy thought it was a good thing, Billy dismissed it as just "woke politics." Billy also couldn't understand how Randy, surrounded by all the classic movies, would be watching soap operas. But eventually Billy got bored enough with the movies and started binge watching soap operas. And now that he had a partner Randy could play board games like monopoly, clue. It was amazing how many versions of Clue and Monoploy there were. Even if both men had known who Britney Spears was when they died, neither could have imagined playing her brand of monopoly. The hardest part of being here was not the boredom, it was when they got to see their families on Earth. Randy saw Martha when she came out to their parents, their reaction was not particularly supportive. Randy wished he could comfort his little sister at these moments, to dance with her at her wedding, to be there when she gave birth to her twins, or to help comfort Martha when she and her wife got divorced. But Randy couldn't be there for his sister, nor could he even console himself with the idea that he had been a good big brother to her when he was alive. The last time he had spoken to Martha, he told her he was sending her the tape. He didn't even say goodbye, he hoped to live to see her again, but that didn't work. For Billy, he saw his daughter Samantha. Billy knew he would never have been a good father, had he even know that the Carpenter girl was pregnant he would have pressured her to have an abortion. Now, Billy's Hell was he got to watch as his daughter grew up, ashamed of her father, never being a part of his daughter's life.

.

Billy and Randy eventually found a new version of Hell. It was when a new Ghostface, or more specifically two of them, began yet another killing spree in Woodsboro. They saw exactly who the killers were, Ritchie and Amber. These two seemed intent on murdering Randy's niece and nephew Mindy and Chad, and framing Billy's daughter Samantha. It seemed like these people might win, and Billy and Randy would be helpless to save their loved one. They tried to warn them, when they concentrated hard enough they could almost get to the other world, be in the scene, but they couldn't stop the killers. Billy could even talk to Sam, but some force prevented him from telling her who the killers were. Billy and Randy vented their frustrations to each other.

.

Billy: I don't get it. I could tell her to slit their throats, why couldn't I tell them that Amber and Ritchie are the killers?

Randy: I don't know, except maybe this is Hell.

Billy: Yeah. The irony is I might have come up with the same plan. Sam's the daughter of a serial killer, she's on anti-psychotic medication, of course everyone will assume she's the killer.

Randy: They just stabbed Chad and Mindy. I was hoping, Dewey survived more times than he should have, I was hoping I could protect them the way something protected Dewey.

Billy: But we're not exactly guardian angels now are we?

Randy: No, neither of us is alone. You said you could talk to Sam, but you couldn't warn her. Maybe if we worked together, combined our strength, we can somehow save my niece and nephew, maybe warn your daughter.

Billy: It's worth a shot.

.

Billy and Randy worked together, combined their strength. And it worked, even though Chad and Mindy should not have been able to survive their stabbings, they did, they would survive the night. This process did leave Billy and Randy exhausted. Nevertheless they put their remaining energy into trying to protect Samantha. Billy saw her fighting Ritchie at the top of the steps, his knife went flying down, neither person saw where it landed. But Billy saw it, it was just under the curtain. All Billy could do was do a gesture, to point Sam towards where the knife was. But it was enough for Sam to grab the knife and defend herself. Their plan had worked, Billy and Randy had saved their loved ones.

.

Billy: We did it.

Randy: Yeah we did buddy.

Billy: So what now?

Randy: That's a good question. We both know that Chad, Mindy, and Sam are not out of the woods yet. There are plenty of psychopaths who will target them for surviving tonight.

Billy: Yeah. It's kind of funny, Sydney looking out for my daughter now. But maybe we can help protect them now.

Randy: We'll have to work together. But maybe we can earn the title of guardian angels, get out of here one day.

Billy: That is so cliche.

Randy: It's cliche for a reason.

Billy: Fair enough, let's see how it goes.
