Author's Note: So, this is the first songfic that I've ever written so apologies if it's not good. This is based on an idea I have and decided to write this one-shot as a preview to see if people are interested. Hope you all enjoy!
The night sky spans over Monster Island with the stars and moon illuminating the island along with the ocean waters around it. The waves gently splash on the shores while crashing onto the rocks like they normally do even without a large breeze in the air.
In these waters that surround the island, Godzilla Junior floats on his back with much of his body submerged while keeping a paw on the back of Mothra Leo. The young dinosaur tilts his head and smiles at the larva laying on his chest as he hears them discussing about the future.
"So, what do you think of Virgo?"
"That'll be a lovely name, Leo," Junior replies softly, "It'd fit your daughter well."
"Thanks," Leo says with a little chuckle, "I've had that name bouncing in my head for the last few days."
Junior lets out a soft chuckle of his own as he leans in and nuzzles the larva's mandibles with the insect kaiju nuzzling back. The two were close friends in their youth, and now inseparable as they've grown up together. The dinosaur has many friends – including the joyful Toto and the aggressive Varan – but only Leo has ever done something which has set him apart from the others.
For only Leo has ever captured his heart.
"Say, we're going to be together once you're king, right?" the moth suddenly asks while perking up.
"Of course, Princess~" the dinosaur answers, letting out a playful growl that makes his love giggle.
"Well, than maybe you should give them a name too," Leo tells him as his little green eyes look into Junior's brown eyes, "I don't have a name for if I end up having a boy."
"A boy?" Junior asks, blinking as his love nods and he tilts his head up to look at the skies.
So much has happened this day, especially in regards to what the future will hold for the young dinosaur. He wishes to tell Leo, but his cute larva started discussing about when he'll lay an egg after he undergoes his metamorphosis. Even if it won't happen right away, hearing his love chat eagerly about having his own child brought joy to the monster prince who wishes to share in it.
As silence falls over the two, Leo starts to become a little nervous about the sudden question he gave to his love. He has been thinking about the idea of his kind reproducing without a mate and he wants his Prince to have a say since, well, they'll be mates in the near future. However, perhaps he sprang this one on him too fast...especially since the dinosaur may not be as well versed in the tropical zodiac as him and his mother.
It's how he got his name after all, and he wishes to continue that trend.
After a moment of watching his future mate ponder, the young Mothra says, "Well, maybe I can tell you about the zodiac signs if that's hanging you up. I-I mean, it shouldn't be too hard to-"
"Isn't Scorpio one of them?" Junior asks, tilting his head to look at his Princess.
"Um, y-yeah," Leo stutters, caught off guard from the interruption.
The young dinosaur rolls the name inside his head before saying, "Mothra Scorpio...flows like a river."
The larva looks at him before letting out a series of chirps akin to a laugh which makes the monster prince blink in confusion. After a few moments of hearing those cute chirps, the dinosaur asks, "What?"
"You...you want 'Scorpio' as his name?" Leo replies to his Prince, still letting out a couple of chirps.
"Is...is it bad?" Junior asks, feeling a bit ashamed that he even offered it up.
This makes his Princess suddenly stop as he realizes what he's doing and answers, "No! No! Junior, it works fine and you're right about how it sounds. It's just...Scorpio is a scorpion."
"Oh," the young dinosaur says in realization before stating, "I still think it's a good name."
"Well, I'm not sure if it'd work," the young Mothra says back when he gets an idea, "But if you promise to help me raise them as a family, then I'll consider Scorpio for the larva."
The monster prince gives his cute larva a smirk before quipping, "Like I'd ever abandon you, my lovely Princess."
Another series of chirps comes from Leo with Junior letting out a sound akin to a chuckle with the two nuzzling each other. The two feel the love that the other has with the young dinosaur scratching the larva's back with his claws. This results in the young Mothra letting out more of those chirps as he rocks his body a bit which makes the monster prince grab his back with his other paw.
Junior smiles at how happy his Princess is, moving his tail to make side to side to move them through the water. As he does, his eyes look up at the sky and notices something that makes him freeze up with excitement.
"Leo," he whispers, "Look there."
Leo calms down and turns his body so that he can see what his Prince is looking at which he easily spots. There, above the moon in the sky, is a lone star that seems to shine far brighter than any in the sky above them. As he stares at it in amazement, he feels the monster prince gently cupping his cheek and his head moves to look back at him.
The larva sees the dinosaur smiling brightly at him as his paw returns to his back and the two begin to sing.
(Jr.) Do you see that star above the moon?
(Leo) Yes, the star that we both share.
(Jr.) It's the one that leads me home to you.
(Leo) Then I pray God leaves it there
For I'm useless as a broken heart without you
(Jr.) And I'm empty as the breeze without you
(Leo) Someday Junior, you'll be the King
And then I'll be the New King's bride.
Junior smiles as he can finally reveal what he's learned.
(Jr.) Sooner than you think, Leo my dear
Maybe on this evening's tide
For my great father has hastened our tomorrow
(Leo) Is it true, my love?
(Jr.) The New King you shall wed.
Both kaiju smile as they sing with joy and hope as Junior continues to propel them forward.
(Both) When love it true
Nothing stands in our way.
(Jr.) God in his Heaven smiles and then
The where and when of stars and men
Suddenly fall in place.
(Leo) No one could ask for more
Diamonds and rubies can not buy
What will not die is never through.
(Both) Never when love is true!
The young dinosaur smiles happily as his Princess shakes his little tail in excitement.
(Jr.) Like the wind that fills a sail.
(Both) True.
(Jr.) Like a light that will not fail.
The larva snuggles into the embrace that his Prince has him in.
(Leo) Hold me.
Let me memorize your face.
(Jr.) When I'm lost in your embrace.
(Leo) For eternity!
(Jr.) When love is true
True as the star we share.
(Leo) Constant and always waiting there
(Jr.) The undertow that won't let go.
(Leo) You are my one true fey!
Once again, the two young kaiju sing together echoing the love that they share.
(Both) My one relentless prayer
Now and forever
Let it be you I'll see
And let it be no one but me who
Runs to you each time you call
Let me be the one who shows you
All love can do
When love is true!
The two finish singing as they smile and nuzzle each other with the Prince and the Princess simply enjoying this moment. One that both will remember, from when they become the King and Prince Consort to when they raise their children together as a family.
However, neither notice the lone Shadow of Evil watching them from atop a nearby rock in the water with its eyes zeroed in on them. It had heard everything and knows what it must report back to its Queen and the rest of the council. Part of it wishes to attack the two now when they are vulnerable, but its orders were clear and it could not disobey them.
Without making a sound, the Gyaos spreads its wings and takes off into the night.
