It was a windy, yet uneventful night in the Scarlet Devil Mansion. The chandeliers on top of the wine red mansion's ceiling banged into each other, signifying the wind's approaching altitude. Usually, Gensokyo wasn't this bad with wind, but today was an especially bad day for it. It was similar to a thunderstorm.
As the wind roared outside, the mansion's aptly named vampire mistress, Remilia Scarlet, was quite unpleased with one simple thing as she sat in her chair. The wind… was coming into the mansion as well. The hallways looked like a mess as Remilia sighed.
"Sakuya."
As soon as Remilia stated the name of the head maid, she was right by her side.
"Yes, Mistress?"
Sakuya spoke, eager to help her mistress in need.
"Tell the fairies to find where all of this wind is coming from… Someone must have kept a window open."
Remilia said with a tired tone. She didn't like the destruction this was causing upon her fair mansion.
"Why not let me do it?"
Sakuya tilted her head in confusion.
"...I wouldn't dare give you such petty work."
Remilia stated. Professionals should have standards, she thought.
"Hm… Well, alright. I'll make sure to get the fairies to check it out."
Sakuya wasn't sure if this was the best idea, but she was loyal to a fault and went with it anyway.
Once they were finished speaking within the vampire's perfectly ornamented yet sadly destroyed hallways, the head maid of the mansion, Sakuya Izayoi, stepped away from Remilia's side as she searched for the maid fairies, her subordinates. She was ready to give the fairies the right amount of work for the job.
Within these endless and winding halls, the maid fairies working within were attempting to find a reason for this strange phenomenon as soon as Sakuya gave them the task to do so. Why did the wind enter within the mansion's walls when they clearly had every window closed? Every door was closed too… Eventually, after enough checking, they simply couldn't find the answer. They regrouped, ready to give up…
One of the fairies spoke up after sighing deeply, unnerved by the sudden situation.
"The mistress isn't going to like this… I don't want to imagine what Miss Sakuya's reaction would be either…"
Another more wimpy fairy spoke as well in a much softer tone.
"I… I'm not… I'm not ready if Miss Sakuya has a punishment for this…"
The fairies shuddered. Sakuya's punishments were less than moral, but she didn't think much of it. She was a human maid working in a vampire's mansion after all. Plus, the fairies were able to respawn as they wished after getting killed. It's understandable why Sakuya wouldn't mind giving harsh punishments, especially if she wanted the fairies to work properly. Still, to a fairy, the idea of these punishments were enough of a motivator to keep going.
"Aaah! Sakuya's punishments are always so horrible! If only there was a way to avoid having any punishments at all…"
…Especially when they forgot how to quit their job.
Regardless, it was a confusing problem for these fairies. They weren't used to such a workload. Remilia must have expected it to be easily done by fairies, yet they couldn't seem to do it. It was an odd scenario that no one within the fairy group could even begin to figure out how to solve…
The fairies decided to argue about it. They were simply too confused and bewildered to hold in their anger any longer. They needed a stress release.
As the fairies confusedly yelled at each other, a figure came walking within the room. It was hard to make out for a moment. But… when it spoke, that voice was striking to them.
A fairy shouted throughout the hall in a frantic voice as they tried to run over to the other fairies…
"███ ███████!"
The fairies turned.

The fairies were bewildered at the fact they were all staring at the same space for no apparent reason. The air in front of them was still. They felt as if the space in front of them gave them an immense sense of déjà vu. Yet, the main thing reality told them was that the problem was solved. The air was still now. It was safe. The unnerving feeling was felt throughout the group, but they felt as if it was something they should ignore.
As they were finished processing what just happened, Sakuya entered the room.
"I assume you solved the problem?"
Sakuya spoke quite fiercely. She only wanted the best for her mistress.
The fairies saluted Sakuya and nodded. Sakuya nodded as well, understanding that the fairies did their job properly and that she did not need to punish them. She simply could not let the mistress tolerate anything less than five star service, even if she had to get her hands dirty to achieve that goal.
Regardless, Sakuya started walking away without a word. They all sighed a sigh of relief. There was no more work to be done today.
…Everything was fine.
