Side Story II - Afterword
Let me say this first and foremost: This story was supposed to be four scenes long. Not five, not six. Four. And in the end it took seven.
What is a plan? A miserable pile of NOTHING the moment the clash starts.
Anyway, I wanted to show with this (originally short) side story that everyone is very much still in danger. Sure that won't be shown in the main story most of the time, at least not at first, but it IS a factor. Rosie is a powerful Overlord, her Cannibals a competent (if ravenous and likely half crazy) security force, and even Alastor and Lucifer would be interested in keeping them around for their own reasons. True that Lucifer made it clear that anyone could try and get what Carlos and his family have now, but that doesn't mean he would sit idly by if someone tried to mess with his plans and fun.
I think this wasn't a perfect way to show it, but it was still passable. While everyone else was doing their thing, having a good time (or trying to) and doing their best to have a normal day in Hell, shit hit the fan.
And people (that matter, I mean) almost died.
It can be excused, despite what you may think. Everyone in the family is trying their best to either not think about where they are, they are trying to get used to the place, or planning what to do when they return. In the meantime they, and likely anyone else, would use any possible excuse for entertainment and a way to clear their heads. A few explosions, as if they were fireworks, would likely garner a lot of attention and downright interest. Anything other than being idle or cooped up somewhere with just your thoughts.
Of course shit went to Hell (literally), but it was bound to happen.
The only reason this wouldn't get out of hand is the support and love the family shares, and the hope to keep on living. Everyone was aware of the danger of this new land, and while that won't be enough to let go of all fears, parts of the last Scene was meant to show that (mostly) everyone will be there when needed.
Simply put? The most fucked up things can be in your day to day life in Hell: Everyone is fine and having a fun time? BAM! You almost get cooked, literally.
I also wanted to show Rosie killing a bitch, but that is just a little bit extra. Had that planned long before I started Act II of the main story.
That is mostly all. This was a larger event in 'Day By Day', and important, sure, but it was just meant to remind everyone that people in Hell are still very much fucked up in the head. Some of them in a middling way you'd find on some people on Earth, others are reaaaaaaally screwed up. But still, the family had to be kept on their toes, so here this went.
Speaking of 'going': Next week is not going to have a 'Scene'. I have far too many Sheets and Data bits I want to upload, so next monday (God willing) I will update it all. Those of you still interested in this story will have to wait two weeks for the next scene.
But hey, Alastor will have a talk with the creepier member of the family as she feeds her new 'cat'. That is something you lot can look forward to.
See you guys next time.
