Good evening. This is Channel 7 News at 6. I'm Hayasaka Aiko
And I'm Kasuhiko Inoue. We begin tonight with breaking news out of Tartarus Prison where officials are reporting another dramatic prison break. This marks the fourth prison break and so far the largest one to date.
That's right, Kasuhiko. Just hours ago, authorities confirmed the complete destruction of Tartarus Prison. This comes days after reports that the top three heroes in our country had decided to team up to help put an end to this madness.
The escape has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised serious questions about these so-called heroes that are supposed to be protecting us….
Bakugo turned off the television in the common room to no one's protest. Every student was quiet and pensive.
It had been one month since the Jaku Hospital Raid… One month since they lost Midnight, and countless other Pro-Heroes. One month since Endeavor's family drama was laid out for the world to see. Only one month, and yet everything had changed.
All-for-One, Shigaraki, and the League of Villains were still out there. In the last week alone, there had been four prison breaks, including what was supposed to be the most secure prison in the world, Tartarus. Dangerous villains were now out in the streets at record levels, and this time, they sought vengeance.
They had "won," but at what cost?
Chaos and fear were everywhere, and most of Japan started to blame the heroes, causing many of them to hang up their hero suits for good.
Despite everything, the U.A. students were still required to finish out their semester. They focused long enough to complete their finals and were now all sitting in the common room together. Summer break had officially started, but no one was in a festive mood.
Least of all, Bakugo.
Deku hadn't even finished the semester. He had disappeared in the middle of the night leaving everyone just a stupid fucking letter explaining One-for-All to everyone. Worse, he hadn't even left the fucking letters himself. Bakugo could bet good money he had All-Might do it for him.
Bakugo was so fucking pissed he couldn't even see straight. Uraraka had walked in on him, crumbling up Deku's letter and about to blast it. Bakugo noticed that she was clutching onto a similar-looking letter.
The whole class was at a loss for what to do. How did they move forward from this?
"Did you know?" Uraraka had asked quietly. Bakugo had only nodded. Since then things had been weird between them. Each student retreated into themselves as they wrestled with the magnitude of what they had lived and what was to come.
Because this was far from over.
And yet, the top three heroes were nowhere to be found. Every time Bakugo, Todoroki, or Tokoyami tried to contact them, they either didn't respond or sent a message saying they were busy. Deku hadn't been seen or heard from in over three weeks, and All-Might had also disappeared.
Bakugo was about to lose his mind with rage. He was also fucking over the whole class, moping around.
"I'm gonna kill that damn nerd," Bakugo suddenly exclaimed, banging his fists on the table.
"Bakugo, please refrain from damaging school property," Iida chastised half-hearted. "Has anyone contacted the pro-heroes to confirm where Midoriya is?" He asked for the millionth time. "Those three were your mentors…" The whole class turned to where Bakugo stood. Todoroki sat across from him, and Tokoyami leaned against the wall behind him.
"I called multiple times. At no point did Hawks ever answer his phone." Tokoyami said, the frustration palpable in his tone of voice.
"Denim face either," Bakugo added, slumping into his chair further.
"Same with my father," Todoroki stated. "They're busy, sure, but this is still odd. It's not a leap to assume they're hiding something from us."
"Also, All-Might hasn't come back to campus, either," Jiro said.
"Yes, you're right." Ojiro chimed in.
Class 2-A was starting to look more alive than it had in the last couple of weeks. They were all seemingly tired of sitting around and pretending like they were just students despite all the destruction they had witnessed and knew was still occurring right outside their school's gates.
"Hero course students were told to help secure the area or be on standby." Bakugo interjected, "Which means we don't have time to hunt for any real intel. Denim Face and Feather Head both visited Deku in the hospital. All Might was there, too." Bakugo tried not to let his anger get the best of him as he continued, "Then there's the letters. If he didn't want to get anywhere close to campus, then who the hell put them on our doors in the middle of the night? He had All Might doing his dirty work. Those idiots have got to be making moves together."
He was going to kill them whenever they fucking decided to pick up their stupid damn phones. How dare they fucking hold a meeting telling him and Todoroki that they were going to leave school to help put an end to this and then leave without them?!
"If he's with the adult heroes, then we can assume they are protecting him, oui?" Aoyama asked quietly from one of the sofas near the television.
"The news only said that the top three heroes had teamed up." Kaminari chimed in, "Nobody else was mentioned in the report."
"Listen, moron," Bakugo growled, "I may not know Endeavor very well. But I know Deku. And I've got a good read on All Might, too." He clenched his fists before continuing, "I promise, this is the worst-case scenario."
Deku would run himself to the ground if it meant he could save even one person. Bakugo knew that dumbass had no off switch, and if left to his own devices, he was liable to push himself to the brink of death, if not worse.
"Then we need to figure out how to contact Midoriya and help him out Let's go!" Kirishima said with conviction.
As the rest of the class erupted into chatter over how to accomplish this, Uraraka locked eyes with Bakugo. Since Deku's letter revealed the truth, things between the couple had been icy. Uraraka had repeatedly asked about Deku and All-Might, and Bakugo had outright lied to her, saying he knew nothing. Since then, they hadn't talked much outside of Uraraka, checking in on his injuries and ensuring he wasn't doing anything to make them worse.
Everything was just a fucking mess right now, but he hoped his eyes conveyed how much he loved her and how much they needed to find Deku before it was too late.
"Endeavor graduate from UA, right?" Uraraka said loudly, getting up from the sofa where she had been seated and effectively quieting the rest of their classmates.
"Yes, that's right," Todoroki responded. Uraraka turned and looked straight into Bakugo's eyes.
"Let's get some answers." She said with determination.
~.~.~.~
His beautiful, smart, intelligent girlfriend was also ballsy because she led their class straight to Principal Nezu's office and demanded that Endeavor be brought to them.
And to everyone's surprise Principal Nezu delivered.
Now Class 2-A held the tracking device that showed Deku's location and a directive from their Principal, "Bring your classmate back."
And so the heroes-in-training sped back to their dorms and suited up. After weeks of sadness, fear, and uncertainty, they felt hope. They had a mission. They would find Deku and bring him home. They would work together to finally end All-For-One, Shigaraki, and the League of Villains.
The energy shift was magnetic. Their determination was seen in every step they took.
The whole class was assembled in the common room again, this time dressed as the heroes they still aspired to become. Their mission: Bring back Deku before it was too late.
As the class made their way outside the school gates, Bakugo felt someone come up next to him. From his peripheral, he saw her. She was stoic but no less beautiful. Uraraka grabbed his hand, stopping him from taking any further steps, and pulled him to face her.
"It has to be you, " she said, looking down at their hands. This had been the most physical touch they'd had in weeks, and they both had somehow become very aware of this fact.
He ran his thumb over the back of her hand and nodded. Uraraka squeezed his hand before letting go and following the rest of their class.
There was so much they needed to discuss, but Bakugo had to believe they'd have time to fix this rift that had developed between them later. Right now, they needed to focus.
AN: Sorry for the long wait. In the last year I have bought a house, gotten engaged, pregnant, had a baby, dealt with ppd/ppa, and am now in the middle of planning my wedding.
Clearly, life has been life-ing, so to speak, but I will still finish this story if it's the last thing I do. 😤
No one might be interested anymore, and that's okay. I still want to thank those who revisited the story and waited patiently. I sincerely appreciate the continued support during this unexpected hiatus.
