Chapter 3: The Battle Against Evil

After docking his jet into Great Mazinger, he pressed a button to release the booster wings. "We'll need all the help we can get, buddy." He told his mecha. He then took off once the booster latched on. He then turned his head and smiled as he saw his wife in Venus A with her own booster. "HI sweetie! Glad you can join me!" he teased.

"Tetsuya Tsurugi-Kabuto, that was reckless, going out like you did!" she replied.

"Yeah I know, I liked it too!" he chuckled.

"Dude what the hey!? Couldn't you wait a little bit!?" asked Koji as he joined them.

"What? You caught up with us, didn't you?" he asked.

Mazinger then flipped him off. Great Mazinger returned it with one of his own. "Mine's bigger!" said Tetsuya with a smile.

Jun sighed. "Ok you two, put them away. And honey, save the pillow talk for the bedroom." Venus A blew him a kiss, making Great Mazinger blush.

They soon landed in a forest near Fuji. Koji looked at the other two. "Somehow I feel like we're going into a trap."

Jun nodded. "He's right. This just doesn't seem right. I mean, they haven't even started attacking yet!"

"Well that's because they just landed! But still…I do have a bad feeling about this." He looked at Koji. "Thoughts?"

"I think we should…hold that thought." He turned on his mike. "This is Koji, what's up?" He frowned worriedly. "Crap. Alright, thanks." He looked at the others. "Shiro didn't make it to school."

"WHAT!?" Tetsuya replied angrily, then banged his fist onto his console. "Dammit!"

Just then a voice came over their intercoms. "Well hello there! Glad you three can join us! Come on over, the party's just started."

Koji recognized the voice immediately. "Gandal! Where is my brother!?"

"Why don't you three come over and find out?" he laughed, then turned off the transmission.

"Bastard!" Tetsuya started to charge forward, only to be held back by Koji.

"Oh no you don't!" Koji saw his brother's glare. "Not without me you ain't!"

The two mechas nodded, then took off, followed closely by Venus A. They jumped down into a crater, where they were instantly surrounded by monster mechas.

Great Mazinger counted. "There's twelve of them and 3 of us."

Koji sighed. "That's it!? Man, that's unfair!"

Venus A looked at the monsters. "Tell you what. We're in a good mood today. Why don't we wait here while you go get some reinforcements?"

The monsters stalked forward, ready to rip them apart.

Tetsuya looked at them. "No? Alright then, it's your funeral."

The three mechas got into a back-to-back-to-back badass position, a trio of power. Mazinger started off by shooting off his drill punch while his brother grabbed his V off his chest and threw it like a punishing boomerang, cutting several of the monsters in half. Venus A shot out missiles from her chest, followed by smaller missiles shooting from her fingertips.

Soon the fight was over. The monsters laid beaten, torn apart.

Tetsuya smirked. "What, is that all?"

Koji chuckled. "Was this the best Vega had to offer?"

"Face it bro! We came, we saw, we kicked ASS!" Tetsuya replied as they gave each other high fives.

"Don't get too cocky, guys," Jun cautioned. "This might be just a warm up."

"How observant of you, my dear!" said Gandal's voice over their speakers. "Bravo to all of you! Great fighting skills! However, as the fine lady said, that was just a warm up, cannon fodder. Now you face your REAL fight!"

Tetsuya scoffed. "Bring it!"

Koji placed a hand on his shoulder. "I think we need to listen to your wife's warning about being too cocky…"

"Huh? What do you mean…oh crap…" Tetsuya looked at the next wave of monsters. This time the three are facing the resurrected, Vegan empowered Mycenae generals, all seven of them.

The three resumed their back-to-back-to-back badass stance.

Jun looked them over. "Guys, there's something different about them…"

Tetsuya looked on as well. "She's right, Koji. We fought these guys before and beat them, but…"

Koji nodded. "It's like they came back from Hell stronger than ever, huh? Fine. Then let's send them back there!"

"No need to tell me twice!" Tetsuya replied. "THUNDER BREAK!" He gathered a ball of lightning into his hands and threw it at the attackers.

"BREAST FIRE!" Mazinger shot out a punishing heat ray from its chest.

"PHOTON BEAM!" Lasers shot out from Venus A's eyes.

Duke looked on in satisfaction at the newly upgraded mechas. Boss and Sayaka looked up as well.

Boss chuckled at Robo Junior. "Man, you even upgraded his looks! And Borot!" He went over and petted its hand. "You did good, buddy. You're all ready to kick butt!"

Boro smiled and gently patted its pilot's head as if to thank him.

"Glad you all approve," Duke replied. "Now climb in and familiarize yourselves with the new controls, and let me know if you have questions. I'm going to contact the others."

They nodded and did as they were instructed. Sayaka looked around and smiled. "Oh my GOSH! You even put a new stereo in here!"

Boss looked at the dashboard, grinning. "Hmm…underwater mode…flight mode…drunken monkey mode…wait, DRUNKEN MONKEY MODE!?"

Duke jumped into his mecha and started hailing his allies. "Tetsuya, do you read me? Tetsuya, this is Duke, do you read me?" He frowned. "Koji! Koji, do you read? Koji, answer me!" He muttered a curse under his breath. "Jun! Jun, do you read ? Jun!" He slammed the mike down, then picked it up again. "Sayaka! Boss! We need to go, now!"

"What is it, Duke?" Sayaka asked worriedly as she and Boss started up their mechas.

"It's the others, they're not responding!" he replied.

Borot slammed his fist into his hand. "Then it's go time!" he announced as he and the other two mechas took off to help their allies.

As they flew, Borot looked at Grendizer. "Hey, what's with the 'Drunken Monkey Mode' button? I don't drink."

Duke chuckled. "That's not what it means. Look, you may have seen people when they're drunk, right? And how they act?"

"Yeah, they're unpredictable."

"Exactly! The Drunken Monkey attack is like that, unpredictable." Duke explained. "I've seen you fight, and your technique is very much like that, unpredictable. It makes it hard for your enemy to figure out your next move."

Borot grinned. "Hit 'em when they least expect it, huh? I love it!"

"Well I don't love this. LOOK!" Sayaka pointed at the crater where their allies have recently fought. As in their nightmares, there were pieces of mecha, monster, and blood everywhere. But no sign of Jun, Koji, or Tetsuya.

"No…" Borot whispered, the mecha's eyes becoming tearful as he noticed a piece of Jun's suit.

Sayaka looked at what was left of Mazinger's leg. "We're…too late…"

Grendizer put a hand on both their shoulders. "No we're not. Gandal wanted them alive. Otherwise we'd be seeing their bodies out here."

Borot looked at him. "Would you mind not saying the 'B' word?"

Duke looked at him. "Look, I said no one's gonna die on my watch, and I meant that."

Diana turned to them. "Then we can find and save them, right?"

"I think we have to go through them first…" Borot pointed at the monsters that were coming over to them.

Duke frowned. "Vegan monsters. They want to stop us from stopping whatever Gandal is planning."

Borot cracked its knuckles. "Not happening."

Diana nodded. "Alright boys, let's dance."

"You took the words right out of my mouth," Duke added. The three got into their battle stances, and proceeded to attack.
